Pumpkin King : Midnight Masquerade Series

Rate this book
In the dead of night, Sage and a group of unsuspecting women were plucked from their mundane lives and transported to a foreboding realm, where the boundaries between reality and nightmare blurred. They found themselves at a masquerade ball, surrounded by an unholy assembly of creatures from the shadows. The air was heavy with the stench of decay and corruption, and the masks worn by the attendees seemed to conceal their true, sinister intentions.

The women soon realized they were the prizes to be won, forced to participate in a twisted game of survival. The creatures, with their razor-sharp claws and teeth, circled their prey like predators, eager to claim their victims. The women's screams were drowned out by the haunting melody of the ball, as they were dragged deeper into a world of unspeakable horrors.

Pumpkin King
By: A.L. Adams
5🎃⭐️

Looking for a pallet cleanser after your Onyx Storm hangover? Look no further, this twisted.. chilling monster dark spicy romance is your book!! A.L. Adam’s writing is truly mesmerizing, you will be eating out her hands with the way she writes. Giving you just enough to be at the edge of your seat craving more but making you beg for it. AND might I add that I have ((ahem)) fallen for this Pumpkin King and his leafy tendrils.

Every century, monsters are permitted this… indulgence. To pluck a few from the human realm.. for let’s just say entertainment.. pleasure and fun!

The Pumpkin King & YES you read that correctly. PUMPKIN KING, a sentient being with a pumpkin head.. who thrives on fear. Might and must I add.. gives you all the hot & steamy vibes! 🥵💦

Sage is trapped in the Pumpkin Kings house. She finds herself unraveling at the sign of her own bodies betrayal.

Was Sage just another prisoner being held captive OR was this fate? Was Sage destined to have been taken by the Pumpkin King?

Different but good !!!

She woke up dressed and somewhere that she doesn’t know. She wasn’t alone there was more females with her that have been kidnapped. They were chosen. For what they didn’t know. When she saw a chance to run and she did, but then he got to her. It happened a few times and then that’s when her fears will show more. He was a predator who knows about her, and he does get to know her more. In the most exotic way and she couldn’t believe it was happening. She met Remi and they both saw help within each other. Hope to get out of what ever was going on. But sage had a conflict within herself, be cared or let go to the pleasures. This book is definitely different but it’s Hot 🌶️ and it’s good ( I might have issues ) lol. it left me wanting more, and for some reason I think there will be a book 2
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In the beginning there’s little to the imagination.
Quite literally, it all goes by so fast. And SO MUCH SMUT.
If you’re seeking a fast read with a lot of action, I highly recommend this book! Great story 👏🏼
Thanksgiving is going to be weird this year 😜

This book was a little different than what I normally read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! It hooked me from the beginning and had my attention until the very end. I sincerely hope there's more because the way this book ended, I need to know what happens to Sage!

Damn, this book was HOT. All I had to do was read the first chapter, and I was immediately hooked. There's suspense around every corner, and the attention to detail is insane, A.L. Adams knows how to keep the reader coming back for more. She's also a master at descriptive detail, and when it comes to the spice, Adams doesn't leave anything totheimagination. Pumpkin King kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last page.

This book was definitely an interesting read. The spicy scenes were well written, but I would have loved to see more world building or explanation of events. I felt that for more than half of the book I was wandering aimlessly and trying to figure out what was going on. Once we got to the 60-ish% mark I finally felt like things were making sense or that there was an explanation.

I would have loved this book to have had the same world building throughout the book. If the book had an extra 100 or so pages of world building or explanations I would have been happy to give this book 5 stars.

I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to read this book as an ARC. I would love to see where this series goes from here.

This was 1st dark monster romance. But wow I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next. It was very spicy. Very well written , flowed well . Love how descriptive the author was in describing the surroundings in the world building. I was a little thrown at the end, didn’t end how I thought it was going to, but it was a fast little read, and I enjoyed it.

Thanks to the ARC team for an advance copy!

This story is beautifully written - the beginning sets the scene, where the FMC, Sage, finds herself captured and brought to a holiday underworld of sorts. The descriptions are rich, and I can see each of the monsters the girls encounter as they are brought to this world clearly.

Sage's adventure is almost a combination of a twisted fairy tale and something like The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty - in the world she's taken to, she is given to the Pumpkin King. The descriptions of their interactions and chemistry are as twisted as they are beautiful - I was enchanted, even when I should have been disgusted by the monstrous form of the Pumpkin King and what he demanded of Sage.

I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars because at times it's not clear what's going on. Sometimes this seems intentional - the FMC doesn't know what's happening, so we don't either. But sometimes we seem to jump in time a bit, or something will happen that seems inconsistent with other parts of the story. I think a clearer framework to the storyline might help - I wanted the things the girls had to do for their monsters to be more of a series of rites, laid out clearly as tests they had to pass to keep going.

This is super, super dark, twisted, and has an erotic horror aspect - if you are sensitive, check the triggers before beginning.

Pumpkin King is my introduction to author A.L. Adams. And what an exciting introduction it was! Adams has an almost lyrical way with words, and I was captivated by this wordsmith the entire time. This is a monster fantasy romance.

This book follows Sage, who was transported to another realm. She and other girls find themselves at a masquerade ball surrounded by their masked captors. The girls are forced to participate in a high-stakes game of survival. Sage’s captor is Pumpkin, who reminds me of the Headless Horseman. Will Sage make it out alive? Read and find out!

This mixture of reality and nightmare is packed full of delicious spice! I must admit, I’m a vine lover now! There was a little twist that I enjoyed. I look forward to more books by this author.

Thank you to A.L. Adams for gifting me an eARC of Pumpkin King. I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think the story of Sage and the Pumpkin King is a lot of fun and more than a little smutty. I liked that Sage stands her own against the nightmare she finds herself bound to. I enjoyed watching the King bend to fulfill her needs as well. I now need the next book to see where the story takes us.

My two negatives are one, that it seems as though there will be a second books as this one ends on a cliffhanger and I wasn’t aware of that. The second is that there are a few “jump” as if paragraphs are missing. It’s a little disjointed and takes pulls you out of the story. However I don’t believe it confuses the reader.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
