PROVERBS COMMENTARIES
These are fine examples of moral suggestions from the Lord as to how a Christian ought to behave. It should be understood however, that all these exhortations, are dependent on the Spirit of God. We cannot do them on our own strength; they will only be accomplished as the Lord wills, because he has ordained all the good works that we are to walk in. And furthermore, in the end all the good works that may outwardly look as if we had done them, are ultimately done by Jesus Christ who dwells in us.
