`In this eminently sensible, practical and thought-provoking book, Jennifer Mackewn takes gestalt light years forwards towards a synthesis and integration of psychological styles and away from what she describes as "Perlism". I agree with this is a book for therapists, not principally for gestaltists... In inviting the reader to "pick and choose" from the many and varied, always practical, hands-on approach chapters... It's been hard for me to find current Gestalt therapy books beyond the years of Perls, Goodman, Hefferline. This book brings Gestalt back to its roots and its current day focus on a relational gestalt therapy and for that it was highly useful to me. In particular I appreciated the first 20+ pages of the introduction where Jennifer Mackewn went back and gave a theoretical background to Gestalt pointing out which pieces are ascribed to which contributors to the field (not the field, but the field).

Highly recommend this book to anyone interested in a personal relational therapy.
