All Willow wanted was to find her true love. But when her "foolproof" matchmaking spell leads her straight to Kane Harrison—the absurdly attractive CEO of Forever Fruits and definitely a vampire—she does what any sensible witch would magically yeets him across town before he can even say hello. No way is she letting destiny saddle her with a vampire, thank you very much.
Too bad the universe (and Kane) didn't get the memo.
Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King is a standalone book of the highly-addictive paranormal romance series, The Bewitching Hour. If you’re thirsting for magic and mayhem, spicy slow burn, and witty banter, then you’ll be ensnared by this quirky, sexy, and super fun series.Perfect for fans of Wednesday Addams, Bewitched, and Practical Magic.
If you like the romcom witchy consequences of Ex-Hex, the rejected mates of Wolf Gone Wild, and the billionaire paranormal romance vibes of The Modern Girls Guide to Magic, this book is for you!
This book was cute, the vibes, the flowers knowledge. Willow is our cute witch florist and Kane is our vampire king CEO. Willow makes a spell which summons her fated mate and brings Kane in her house naked. The scenes between them were so funny until the whole plot centered on the curse.
I dropped a star because of that. It seems there was too much information suddenly and the misscommunication between them to break their bond was crazy. I wanted more interactions between them, it’s just my personal opinion. I was too suddenly immerse in the curse plot and I wanted something else.
But the vibes with secret gardens, the flower shop the festival in which Willow is selling her flowers were cute. This book is perfect for autumn and I really love this Bewitching Hour series. ❤️
Cute, witchy, seasonal read that leans heavy on the plot and less on the romance aspect. The curse of the bloodlines is a huge part of this book, and the romance takes a backseat to it. While I loved Willow, I wasn’t able to connect with Kane due to the lack of togetherness of the characters. They truly spend most of their time apart and just reference the mate bond so there is a level of missing chemistry to them as fated mates.
I do love the cursed bloodlines and all the twists and turns that come with trying to break the curse. I wish there was a bit more backstory as to what happened to Kanes parents and Willows family. All in all this was an interesting book, and completely aligned with a seasonal read. Definitely recommend giving this book a read.
Such a magical Romcom. if you want small town charm, a magical enhanced flower shop, very effective love magic, intriguing family secrets, witches vampires and a whole magical community then this is the perfect book for you.
thank you to the author Jamie Dalton and BookSirens for trusting me with an eARC
Oh my god what a charmingly cute read! I'd been really looking forward to getting to this one in the series, I mean a vampire who's a fruit bat, colour me intrigued. The premise had me hooked in, and I literally bounced with excitement when I started it as I was drawn into the humour, fluffiness and battle of wills between the two leads. What I wasn't expecting (but absolutely loved), was how the stakes changed halfway through the book turning this cozy story into something a little more dramatic which had me on the edge of my seat until the end. I've read a couple of books by this author before which I've really enjoyed but with this one, she knocked it out of the park for me. The characters are believable, funny, quirky in their own ways and the HEA left me giddy with happiness.
Willow is a flower witch who's last few dates have been disastrous. So taking her dating destiny in hand, she casts a spell to find her one true love. However, as the universe has a sense of humour it seems, Willow is presented with her true mate. A devastatingly handsome, very naked man drops into her apartment and he's a vampire to boot. Not expecting this turn of events, and frantically wanting to cover her 'mistake' Willow magically punts him from her sight only to find out later he's not just any vampire but the king. Cue some very awkward, charming and funny moments as Kane doesn't take the hint to stay away, instead he becomes infatuated with the witch who is the first one ever to knock him for six. Literally! I can't say how much I adored Willow, her sassy, stubborn contradictory nature is utterly delightful with some hilarious results. But it's her determination to right past wrongs that really had me had me loving this character, showing her hidden strength which comes through even in the darker moments of the story.
I also loved Willow's friends Luna and Bethany, who are not only close to her but are the kind of friends everyone should have behind them. Yep these girls were magic knowing just when to nudge in the right direction or hold back and be there for their friend, even if at times they are as subtle as a sledgehammer. And the fact that there's such a positive female friendship represented, I couldn't help but love this dynamic even more.
There's nothing I love more than a MMC who is calm, collected and used to getting his way, being taken by surprise when he meets his match. When Kane is summoned to Willow by a spell she cast, he's at first annoyed but then intrigued by the witch who packs a mighty magical punch. Not deterred in the slightest after their disastrous first meeting, he decides that he will pursue Willow by any means necessary, with hilarious consequences for him. But when the mate bond triggers something neither of them could have forseen, he becomes conflicted, as his feelings for Willow and his people become intertwined, his protective nature for all those he cares about ramps up a few notches. I couldn't help but fall for Kane the moment he flew onto the page. From the electric banter between him and Willow to the desperate despair of emotions he feels and made to confront, he had my heart pounding all the way through. Yep I'm definitely a goner and he added to my book boyfriend hall of fame...
Yes this has definitely been added to my permanent collection as I'm a sucker for a unique vampire story and this hit all the check points for me. So if you love sassy witches who don't back down, curses, and a vampire who is different from the norm. This one's for you. Highly recommend 😁
This was such a cute premise. Willow is a witch with a talent for plants. When she performs a love spell and summons a vampire, she hilariously uses her plant powers to expel him from her home. There’s just a tiny issue: Kane, the vampire in question, is king of fruit bat vampires who feed on fruit, not blood, and he’s her fated mate. A familial curse is also in play, and the would be lovers will have a rough road to break the curse and work towards their HEA.
While I liked this book, I didn’t love it, as it was tonally very different once the ancient bloodline curse became the focus. It was much heavier handed, and their slow burn was a bit too slow for my liking.
I received an advance reader copy from StoryOrigin, and sharing my honest thoughts.
When my wife told me she'd signed me up to read an upcoming book set in the Charlotte area called Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, Jamie Dalton pulled me into this fun, magical world right from the start. Kane and Willow are the kind of characters you immediately want to spend more time with, and the premise was both creative and entertaining.
The autumn vibes were absolutely perfect in this book. I found myself wishing Jen and I could wander through Haven's Cross with Kane, Willow, and her friends, soaking up all the cozy fall fun. The mix of humor, magic, and just the right touch of spice made this book enjoyable to read.
If you're looking for a lighthearted, enchanting autumnal story that's funny, entertaining, and brimming with seasonal charm, this one deserves a spot on your fall TBR. It truly captures the magic of the best time of the year.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King was a delightful surprise, equal parts hilarious and heartwarming. The humor was spot-on without being overdone, and the characters had real charm and personality. The plot moved at a great pace, keeping me engaged from start to finish with just the right mix of whimsy and tension. If you're looking for something fun, quirky, and completely original, this one’s worth a read
You have to love this witch x vampire semi-cosy romantasy! I say semi-cosy because the stakes become a little higher than a standard cosy romantasy, which I loved. Willow is the classic stubborn, hardworking small town witch and Kane is a classic rich CEO vampire who prioritizes his people over himself (not a billionaire though). I love how Kane always respected Willow and her boundaries, even if he pushed his luck a little here and there. Not heavy on the open door spice, this was a slow burn that was worth the wait. I am definitely putting the rest of the books in this series on my TBR.
Thank you to Jamie Dalton for facilitating me with a review copy of this book at no cost and with no obligation. I reviewed this book voluntarily, and all opinions are my own.
I quite liked the “fruit bat” vampire idea; it was cute & different. I also liked how the story started & how abruptly the mcs met. My favorite part was Willow’s growing powers & her connection to the plants. She felt like a witchy, modern-day poison ivy.
I had a few minor issues with the writing & characters, but I was still liking it until HE FUCKED HER & GHOSTED HER. That was such a shitty, immature move. I don’t care what his “reasons” were, they do not justify that complete silence, especially since he already had his suspicions prior, but that didn’t stop him from spending time with her up until they had sex.
So all that pursuing & talk of courtship to do that? Centuries-old vampire with the emotional reasoning of a toddler. I think the author could’ve & should’ve chose a different route to create the tension she was aiming for, because this was tasteless.

Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King is a charming, small-town magical rom-com that completely stole my heart. I adored every minute of this quirky, enchanting story.
Willow is a Thorne witch whose unique power is Floramancy, the magical manipulation of flowers, which adds such a fresh, beautiful twist to her character. Kade, on the other hand, is not your typical vampire king. He’s a rich, brooding CEO with a mysterious edge.
A spell gone “wrong” (or maybe right) throws these two together, sparking a story packed with witty banter, sizzling chemistry, and just the right amount of possessiveness that keeps the tension deliciously high. The slow build of their relationship feels authentic and captivating.
The spice level is perfectly balanced—not overwhelming but definitely there to heat things up at just the right moments. The story nails a seamless blend of plot, humor, and romance, making it a satisfying read from start to finish.
Tropes: 🌸 Small Town Magic 🧙♀️ Witchy FMC with Unique Powers 🦇 Brooding Vampire CEO 💥 Opposites Attract / Slow Burn 👯♀️ Best Friend Squad with Schemes 🧙♂️ Magical Curse & High Stakes 🔥 Light Spice + Humor ❤️ Friends to Lovers Vibes
Final takeaway: If you’re craving a magical rom-com with a unique twist, a little mystery, and a whole lot of heart (plus a vampire who’s anything but ordinary), Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King is an absolute must-read.
✨📚 I *devoured* this book like the fruit bat vampire devours fruit! 🍓🦇
From page one, I was completely hooked. Life was chaos while I was reading this, but I still found myself sneaking in chapters every spare second, because I *had* to know what was going to happen next with the curse, the romance, the banter, all of it! 💫
The twist on the vampire lore? Brilliant. Instead of the usual broody bloodsucker, we get a fruit bat vampire who snacks on fruit, not people. And honestly? I’m obsessed. Pair him with a flower witch heroine and her two hilarious, pushy (in the best way) best friends, and you've got the perfect magical squad. Her BFFs gave me total flashbacks to my own ride-or-dies, loud, loyal, and living for the drama. 🌸🍇🌙
Watching the mate bond unfold between the leads was EVERYTHING. The chemistry? Off the charts. The banter? Chef's kiss. 💕 And that solo spicy scene? ICONIC. She *absolutely* took her power back and made him eat his words, and I was cheering the whole time. 🔥🙌
This book had such a fantastic balance of romance, tension, adventure, and spice. Honestly, it gave me everything I didn't know I needed in a fantasy romance. The author's writing style is so engaging and fresh, I’m officially a fan and immediately need to check out everything else she’s written. 😍📖
10/10 would recommend to anyone who loves witches, vampires with a fruity twist, loyal friendships, swoony bonds, and a heroine who stands her ground. 💪💕
This book is adorable is all the right ways. The banter between to two MCs was great. Kane is a typical CEO type. Controlling, hard to read etc. While Willow is the sunshine type. If was fun to 'watch' these two interact with one another and change for the better.
I'm giving this one 4 stars because the spicy scene was just…. not great. Honestly this book probably would have been better if it was fade to black instead. It was a bit confusing at times and used the term "velvet wrapped steel". Gross. I swear people who use that term have never touched velvet a day in their lives. Velvet doesn't feel like that. If it's supposed to be a metaphor for how soft it is there are better ones than velvet. Also, that particular term is really outdated.
Overall it's a good read. If you want to skip the spicy scene all together (which I suggest you do) that can easily be done as the author included it all in one chapter. You'll get the gist throughout the rest of the book. No need to subject yourself to questionable velvet.

This had the sweetest characters, all the witty banter you could want, and a high stakes plot that demanded sacrifice, bravery and loyalty. Willow accidentally summons her fated mate, the very attractive but unexpected fruit bat that lands at her floral shop, who is also a vampire king and CEO and not amused to be naked in a witches shop at midnight. Their interactions were full of flirty banter, and building chemistry, and his possessive was fun to watch unfold. His grand gestures were caring, and I love their witty back and forth's. Their love isn't an easy ride as they must battle family curses and secrets, and decide what they are willing to sacrifice. I adored Willow's floramancy powers, and her bonds of friendship, she was such a sweet character to see blossom. Kane had the broody energy, but also passion, protectiveness and flirty charm. It had a small town and magical atmosphere, with plenty of humour, drama, and paranormal intrigue, and I enjoyed the intensity from the curse.
Okay but tell me why this book feels like sipping a pumpkin chai under a full moon while your familiar judges you from the windowsill 🦇✨
This one’s got that witchy, seasonal magic down pat — curses, bloodlines, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. The romance? Definitely takes a backseat to the plot, which was both a blessing and a curse (pun absolutely intended). I loved Willow and her energy, but Kane… I wanted to vibe with him more. Their connection felt distant, like two souls tethered by fate but separated by the author’s outline 😅 I just needed more spark between them.
That said, the cursed bloodlines? So good. The twisty moments, the generational secrets, the whole “how do we break this before it breaks us” energy — chef’s kiss. I only wish we got a deeper dive into Kane’s parents and Willow’s family history.
All in all, this was a fun, spooky-season read that fits perfectly between cozy candlelight and late-night thunderstorms. If you love paranormal vibes, curses, and a dash of gothic flair — add this one to your fall TBR. 🍂🕯️🖤
Willow is a plant witch who owns her own flower shop. One night, she casts a spell to help her find her soul mate. She wasn’t expecting her soul mate to be the fruit bat vampire king of the east coast, Kane, and along with him, activation of a centuries old curse between their family lines that causes fruit bat vampires to revert back to blood suckers. Willow and Kane must work together to solve the mystery of the curse and find a way to break it to save their bond and Kane’s people.
This was such a cute idea for a story! Fruit bat vampires, a curse between their families, fighting their mate bond until the inevitable happens. I loved the interactions between Willow and Kane; they were so funny. There were a few aspects of the story that were really repetitive and once the story started focusing on their curse, we didn’t really get much interaction between them until the end but otherwise it was such a fun read!
Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King is a charming and imaginative read that’s perfect for fans of light paranormal romance with a touch of whimsy. Jamie Dalton weaves together magic, humor, and heart to create a story that’s both fun and surprisingly thoughtful.
An awkward (and hilarious) meet-cute sets the stage for a sweet fated mates romance, rooted in rich family lore and supernatural tradition. While the book is lighter on spice than expected, it actually works in its favor — allowing the characters’ connection and the plot’s magical elements to really shine.
If you're looking for a cozy, quirky romance with just the right dose of paranormal intrigue, this one’s worth picking up.

This story is about Willow and Kane. Willow is a witch that makes a matchmaking spell for herself that doesn’t end the way she expected. Kane is a CEO and a vampire king that definitely wasn’t expecting any of this but is quite intrigued and all for it.
This is kind of a “dislike” to love slow burn story. It was so much more detailed and intriguing that I was expecting. At first I thought it was gonna be totally different but I loved the history and twist of it all. The plot kept me wanting more and more. Amazing banter, dynamic and chemistry throughout the story. It also has a fall setting in a small town that was magical.
**I received an ARC (which I ask for) a couple of days ago. So this is my honest review and thoughts about the story. Looking forward to reading other books by her.**
This book was so freaking adorable!! Who knew you could seduce a fruit bat with fruit 😉 Willow and Kane were hooked from start to finish. Destiny dropped him into her hands (slightly guided and naked as the day he was born), and she made sure to grow their bond into beautiful blooms (through some forced conversations and a solid bondage situation). 🖤 The uncertainty, the trust, the betrayal, the heartache, and of course the plants! I absolutely adored the story building and characters growth. I cannot wait for more from this author!
"I'd rather have you angry and alive than noble and dead. Promise me, Kane."
🦇 Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King by Jamie Dalton 🦇
Bewitched by the Fruit Bar King by Jamie Dalton is a standalone book in The Bewitching Hour series, a joint series involving 11 amazing authors! I was lucky enough to receive the ARC for this one and I was excited to be introduced to a new author.
I went into this book with no expectations and I absolutely loved it. The cozy small town vibes, the modern twists, the characters and the plot kept me hooked the entire time.
"I would give up the crown," he said quietly. "All of it. The position, the power, the company I've built over centuries. I would walk away from everything if it meant ending this curse and not having to give you up."
I loved the way the world building and history of not only the two but the characters developed throughout the book. The storyline was full of twists and turns that constantly had me engaged and ready for more.
Absolutely loved every single one of these characters. From Kane to Willow to her friends and even the plants!! I really loved the twist on the typical witch storyline as well as the typical vampire. A fruit bat vampire? Love it! I was routing for these two straight off the bat and I loved that Willow wasn't taking any of his crap and he was the one being saved!
"Or perhaps I'm curious about the witch who managed to pull me across the state with a miscast love spell."
This was such an easy read and I 1000% recommend it to anyone who loves a cozy small town paranormal romance!!
This is out August 28th!

Willow wanted to find true love so she decided to use one of her match making spells to find it. This leads her to Kane Harrison, a powerful CEO vampire whose obsession with her develops quickly. Every decision can have consequences and they must decide if love is worth it all. This was such a cute paranormal romance and I couldn’t put it down. Thank you for letting me early read this one!

If you want a cozy smalltown romance with an aesthetic of Practical Magic placed in Starshollow and a tense (no cheating) third act. Do yourself a favour and pick up this book. I was very fortunate that I read it in a rainy summer week cause it just hit the spot, only better scenario would have been a moody autumn storm because I could have made myself my favourite cozy drink and blanket and devour this book.
Book itself was a quick, easy read. I really enjoyed the well spread plot, it never felt stagnant but wasn‘t overly packed. Some romance books need some filler because the only plot is the romance ( not that I mind that) but this was a cute fantasy book that used the romance as a guide through the story.
The chemistry between the main characters is super cute and all the whimsy surrounding them makes this a really good read. Only small minus was I kind of felt the ending would have been more fleshed out. After the tense third act, it was a bit of an abrupt halt.
This was such a fun book from the beginning, with a really different concept for vampires. I am also a sucker for any book with a plant witch FMC, and this one was fantastic. I really hope there are more books written with these characters, because so many of the side characters seem like they have their own stories to tell.
ARC review for Bewitched by the Fruit Bat King. Thank you to the author for providing the advanced copy. ❤️
This was such a cute book with a quirky premise. I loved the small town vibes and the fall setting. I felt like the curse and family history/backstory got lost in the weeds a bit as the book went on, but it didn’t significantly alter my opinion of the story. Overall I really enjoyed the story and finished it in a day. I would recommend if you’re looking for something to kick off the fall season.
I was surprised and delighted by how much fun this was. Willow was adorable and hilarious, definitely my sense of humour, and Drake wasn't the usual vampire alpha hole, but warm and obsessed yet still had enough cool arrogance to make it realistic. I was pulled in by the ridiculous title but stayed for the excellent writing and genuine humour.
I think this was a cute vampire and witch story! I love that her magic is stemmed from plants! The plot of an ancient curse I think was set up well. There is miscommunication so be prepared for it! The friends and his secretary were probably my favorite parts! I thought they were such fun characters and would love for them to have their own stories!
Thank you to Jamie for allowing me to read and review it before it releases! 🧡
This book was not at all what I was expecting. I imagined a very simple and cozy romantic comedy between a witch and a vampire and I received a curse that needs to be broken or else an entire people could die.
I really liked it, but some things got repetitive. For example, Willow said about 5 times how in order to break the curse she needed a true sacrifice, that he needed to choose love over duty and every time it seemed like she was saying it for the first time, as if it wasn't the tenth time it had been presented in the narrative.
I wanted more development of their romance. Everything was too fast. A few more chapters in the middle and end of the book focused on their development would be perfect!!!
Overall it was a good story. It flowed well and entertained me.
"I don't share what's mine. And mate bond or not, I play the long game. I've had centuries of practice at getting what I want."~Kane🦇
"Time is relative to those who know how to bend it." ~Morana🧹
This book was a little long. I struggled to finish it. Don't get me wrong, it was cute in certain places, the mid-banter was there, the idea itself, fall/autumn vibes were working, Willow's best friends making jokes, but the chemistry of our main couple, Willow and Kane, was nearly non-existent. Where was the romance, the push and pull, stolen looks, hungry attraction? It was a romcom but elements were missing for me. Yes, it's a slowww, drag through molasses, type of burn but the anticipation wasn't there. Not for me it wasn't. There's one open door scene, at about 52% of the book and Willow doing another spell gone wrong at seduction later on, but that's about it.
I liked that Willow Thorne was 30, speaks/works with plants, has her inherited flower shop from her mother, grandmother etc, but this girl, a witch, called in her true love with a spell. She was tired of dating. It was messy and loopy, but she called in a... fruit bat.😂😂 Yes. A fruit bat. Think of her as a nice Poison Ivy ((no villian here)) meets Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer... but not as powerful.hehe😭 I'm on board with it being silly and different. But it soon lost steam. This Willow has some knowledge of spells but I felt she still didn't have a handle on it. Not really. Not yet. It leads to.. dire consequences. As spell casting for love tends to be.🫢🤣🤪🤪 And that's what the book focused on about 99% of the time. The sudden mystery. Which will be obvious by who and eventually why. The ancestry. What to do dilemma.😨 I started to lose interest the longer it stayed there. I needed it to move forward.
Some situations/words kept repeating. Vampire King CEO or vampire CEO. That was a big one. Indeed was another. A little longer. Just a little longer. With that extra extra spell making concoction Willow was doing.😮💨😒 That took forever. I don't know what vampire holds off for that length of time.👿🩸🩸🩸 Hungry turned hangry!!!🫀👅 That was kooky and too far-fetched. Kane Drake, fruit bat king was more invested imo, than Willow was. He wanted. He pined. He kept asking for her to go out with him. He did a punk move later on but I get why he did it. Kane was likable. Was everything he did him or the other him forming? I don't want to give away what that means. Kind of confusing.🙉 What was the deal with annoying AI Atlas? Duuude. Give Kane a second.✋🏻💻 Let him think without you meddling.lol
I won't spoil what happened. The world building was there but it stalled in many places. I was hoping for something more but overall, it's okay. I wanted that deep love connection. More of that less curse. The 2 witches: Morana and Elspeth were interesting. Also, the vampire lore was very different.🫦🦇 I do have a question? Were Willow and Kane distantly in the same family tree?😬🙊 I like the recipe at the end. Cute book cover. Happy reading.*•>§<•*🖤🧡🖤🧡
