Getting rescued by a grumpy firefighter while in the bath wasn’t how I planned my return to this small town. Worse, that firefighter is Frank—my brother’s best friend and the man I’ve been clashing with for years.
Frank pulled me from the flames, but now I’m the one tending to his wounds and sharing my home with him.
His gruff voice, smoldering looks, and hot body make him impossible to resist.
Every accidental touch and heated glare tighten the tension between us, threatening to explode.
But there’s more than just heat in the air—an arsonist is setting the town ablaze, and Frank’s right in the crossfire.
Each new blaze draws us deeper into danger, closer to the truth, and dangerously closer to each other.
Falling for Frank isn’t just forbidden—it’s a betrayal that could shatter my bond with my brother.
The lines we’re crossing could destroy our hearts and everything we hold dear.
I have mixed feelings about this book and apparently I had completely different expectations than the other readers who reviewed this book as 4 & 5 stars. It’s not horrible but any means, but in my opinion average at best.
The blurb sounded interesting and very appealing - brother’s best friend, sexy firefighter who is a bit of a grump. Pretty much catnip for me.
Yes, there is a little bit of suspense, but that didn’t make up for what I consider Frank’s verbal abuse of Ashley.
From their first scene he verbally berates her and all but calls her incompetent and that she purposely creates drama and messes. She’s not given an opportunity to fight back and put him in his place for his outlandish and demeaning rants. The rants he spews at her are absolutely ridiculous and do nothing but make him come across as a bully. Ashley can literally do nothing right according to Frank’s rants and he treats her horribly more often than not. She’s a registered nurse who worked in a San Francisco ER - she’s not a weak or stupid woman!
Her older brother, Jack, best friend of Frank encourages Frank to move in with his sister while Frank’s house gets fixed…for months and months. These two are either ignoring each other or fighting other than a few rare instances. In my opinion, this doesn’t build any romantic vibes or feelings between them. When a heated argument leads to some sizzling kisses, Frank then tells her was a mistake and they ignore each other again.
When they suddenly have feelings for each other and the story gets a little suspenseful they quickly declare they love each other.
At the 70% mark, I pretty much skimmed the rest of the book to see how the author wrapped up story and to just be done with it.

I enjoy this book but hate the virtual voices was more blunt then the book adding f words and more which I love and wish more authors would write in a book not just say! Jack and Frank best friends attached to the hips. Ashely always known for being Jack’s lil sister. Jack tells Frank that the fire might be on purpose that he needs someone to look over her and make sure everything is ok because he would never forgive himself if something happened to his sister, Ashley. so he suggested that Frank moved in with Ashley and the town gossip started. For months they stayed together in the same house he was protecting her. He got jealous on anybody made like a rude comment or looked at Ashley in a weird way. Ashley liked to go out with new friends didn’t have actual friends for a while and now she is friends with the baker. Frank was force to go to the Christmas Fair because Ashley forced him to and then sparks reunited then and now they don’t know what to do with them themselves. This story takes you in past and present and makes you wanting more! The virtual voice is much better then the book needs more swear words lol!!! Had some formatting issues but nothing takes away from the writing.
“Entangled With The Grumpy Firefighter" by Amalie Belle offers a delightful romance that strikes a perfect balance between humor and heartfelt emotion. This story centers around a charming but irritable firefighter, who finds himself unexpectedly captivated by a spirited protagonist.
Amalie Belle’s writing style is engaging, with characters that leap off the page. The chemistry between the lead characters is electric, creating a tension that will keep readers enthralled from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed the witty banter and the gradual development of their relationship, which felt both authentic and satisfying.
The plot, while somewhat predictable, is executed with charm and wit. It provides a few unexpected twists that keep the narrative lively and engaging. Bell skillfully conveys the complexities of small-town life and the intricacies of balancing personal and professional challenges.
My only critique is that some secondary characters could have been fleshed out a bit more to add depth to the story. Despite this, the main characters are well-crafted, and their journey is both compelling and rewarding.
Ashley came back home after she had a hard time coping with her life in the big city. But being back in a small town after being gone so long was hard too. Frank also left for a while and had his own issues that sent him running back to the simple life the town offers. Ashley is the little sister of Frank's best friend , Jack, who never left the small town. Frank and Ashley meet each other again and it's not exactly a happy reunion but it's kind of a funny one. The romance is a slow moving one with the spice not coming until much later in the book and it wasn't overly done but was just enough. I liked the fact the Ashley style up for herself when Frank and her brother tried to tell her what to do and I liked that there was no OW\OM drama or cheating. The ending with villain seemed a little rushed with so much build up within the story for there to be only a small amount of conclusion to that but there was a finality and a HEA.
I wanted to shake Frank, Ashley and Jack at various times for different reasons, that didn't stop me from liking them though; I really liked their banter and how well they understood each other. The dance that Frank and Ashley did was worth it to see these two grow and for the spark between them to take hold and not let go. I felt for them both, but my heart did go out to Ashley, the amount of knock backs that girl got, thank goodness she met Norah, it's only good friend and cake (or cheesecake in this instant) that can help you navigate the romance highs and lows. The story held my attention throughout and I loved their HEA. I am voluntarily leaving this review after receiving an ARC from Hidden Gems.
Entangled with the Grumpy Firefighter by Amelia Belle. I was hooked by the first few pages. Frank and Ashley's first encounter back in their hometown is memorable, involving a bathtub and a kitchen fire. The burning desire for each other grows until it's impossible to ignore. This is a story of love that has been simmering for years that finally gets a chance to ignite. The plot is very interesting, with an arsonist set on revenge. The opposite personalities of Frank and Ashley make for some great arguments and gradual adaptations to allow them to grow closer. This is a great story for all romantic suspense lovers. I loved that he got so upset when she wanted to help. The spice was amazing too. I highly recommend this book.

When Frank moved back to Rosewood and joined the fire department there little did he realize the person he saves from a fire was Ashley the sister of his best friend. While they unknowingly had feelings for each other they didn’t want to cross that line. But when Ashley moves in with Frank while her house is being repaired and to protect her from who ever set the fire the feelings become hot and spicy and dangerous. I really enjoyed this book. It had strong, forbidden chemistry with her brother's best friend. There was suspense, a criminal running around trying to get payback and a perfect ending to the story.
Good banter. Plot was pretty basic rom com style but i liked the relationship and decent romance/spice. Overall good book and who doesn't like a hot firefighter! I wish it was more dark romance but for the genre it is in its good.
