GIMME THE 2ND BOOK NOW!!!!!!!! THAT CLIFFHANGER UGHHHHH I CAN'T-
Beautifully Wounded is 1st book in the 'Secrets & Scars' series by Sarah JD which ends on a *freaking* cliffhanger😮💨. This is a dark, twisted and intense story of Abbey & Ringo.
Starts with Abbey being tortured by her parents, suddenly getting kidnapped and taken to Southern Sadists MC (The great work done by one and only *MY MAN* RINGO. Then we find out the cruelty her parents put her through, and what monster they want her to marry. While reading I had to take several deep breaths to calm my anger because of the descriptions of cruelty. Abbey deserves the world 😭😭❤️ and Ringo is here to give her that (Don't you dare disappoint me, boy, in the second book please, I'll cry😭😭.)
What I liked most was Ringo's restrained behavior during sexual activities. The way he always controlled himself and made sure Abby was okay🫠🤌. HE IS THE MAN. RINGO IS THE MAN.

Amazing!!!
OMG, if this is how you start out these new Secrets and Scars series, I know I can’t get enough, fast enough!! This is an awesome book that took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. What was done to Abbey was devasting and heartbreaking especially when it comes from her parents.
Ringo was a biker who came off on the grumpy side but I became a huge fan of him with the way he handled Abbey. He was taking a broken woman and bringing her back to life all the while protecting her. He was amazing.
This was so well written because it felt like I could feel everything that this author put out there. Be prepared though because this book ends in a jaw dropping cliff hanger. I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait for the next to follow.

Addictive from start to finish!!!!!
The connection and draw between these two was next level! I honestly couldn’t get enough.
He was so beautiful and sweet while still being an intense GRUMP (my fav) while she was sweet but slowly rediscovering herself after so much horrible trauma.
I cannot wait for book 2… holy crap that ending!
I cannot recommend enough.

If you've read the Heavy Hearts series, you will likely remember Abbey. The situation she found herself in was only the beginning. This is hers and Ringo's story.
Abbey is subjected to harsh treatments by her parents. She had a plan in place until her sister betrayed her. Then the unexpected happened. She was kidnapped and taken to the Southern Sadists MC.
Ringo is careful around Abbey. He suspects some of the trauma she's been through. But as they get to know each other, build trust, do some of her walls come down, and Abbey shares with him the cruelty her parents and the monster she calls her fiance put her through. Ringo is ropeable.
Safety is all Abbey wants to feel. How can she when she doesn't trust herself and those around her. But when she learns Lexi was responsible for getting her out, she knows that there is someone out there that has her back and that she is truly not alone.
Despite Ringo's tough exterior, he does project that grumpy/ sunshine persona, but only for Abbey. There is so much that Abbey is trying to work through. He's been nothing but patient as he helps her to navigate her life. Abbey deserves more than the life she has been dealt with, and Ringo will do all he can to give her the stability she needs.
The humour and witty banter drew these two together. Their connection is undeniable. They bring out the best and worst in each other as they both navigate the feelings they have towards each other. Despite Ringo's level of experience in the bedroom and the lack there of for Abbey, he helps her to explore her sexuality in a safe space, encouraging her to communicate as to what makes her feel good. Slowly helping her to rediscover herself after the trauma she's faced.
Ringo has become Abbey's fierce protector. When the truth is discovered as to why she is there, claiming her as his woman, does he accept his punishment from his brothers. Ringo is definitely a keeper. Ringo is a man of his word. He will keep his promise to Abbey, holding those who are responsible, accountable for hurting her. Because Ringo will be that man in her corner. But Abbey is hiding something, something so big that it will either bring them together or shatter the foundations of the relationship they have built.
This book is a rollercoaster of emotions. Abbey and Ringo's story will absorb you right from the first word, up until the very last, because that cliffhanger had my mouth dropping on the floor!

I don’t read a lot of MC Romance, the ones I have read are all from Sarah JD and let me tell you, I enjoyed this book immensely. It’s a book that you can get lost in and finish within the day. The writing and plot had really good flow. I thought the way Sarah writes Abbey’s POV was done perfectly, she was able to capture the mind of an 18 year old girl tremendously. There wasn’t a lot of spice but the angst, tension and coaching was on point for the plot of this book.
I loved how our MMC Ringo was with Abbey, he was sweet, kind and patient. I loved the fight Abbey showed even if she was broken, I loved her nature and calmness to work through the raging storm of trauma she had been through.
My favourite scene was when Ringo went under the sheets with her, it was the sweetest moment between the two.
I definitely saw the plot twist coming and was like “gah, I knew it!!” But Ringo’s reaction, that left me wondering what’s happened in the past for him.
I cannot wait to see where their story goes in the next book as this one does end on a cliff hanger.
Will Ringo catch Abbey? Will they get there HEA?

Look I’ll admit it, Sarah did me dirty and gave me ALL the emotions. I was so invested by the end that the cliff hanging hurt… A. Lot!
This is an emotional roller coaster but is so well written. Ringo is a protector and he shows that with Abbey. He’s gentle, kind and patient, not what you’d usually find with a biker. Abbey has been through a lot and just needs someone in her corner for a change.
Do yourself a favour and read this! It is a beautifully written book and deserves to be read by many.

Book one in Secrets & Scars series hooks you from the opening chapter and doesn’t let go till that amazing unexpected cliffhanger. Absolutely did not see it coming, and I need the second book to hurry up and release!! Abbey and Ringo are so well developed through Sarah’s writing, you feel them in your bones.

Omgosh! Sometimes kindle suggestions get it right! I have truly enjoyed other books by this author. But this series has me hooked and gutted. Ringo and Abbey - wow both are broken and perfect for each other even with the age gap. But they both have a long way to go, Ringo must learn to show his feelings.

Oh my goodness!!!! Ringo and Abbey were everything! I couldn’t get enough of them! I loved how protective he was of her. You can see a side of him that shows he really cares for her. I’m so glad that little by little she learn to trust him! These two definitely belong together! I can’t wait to go back to see what happens next!

Nope. Serious issues with consent.
I'm not into reading a book about a bunch of self-righteous thugs who think kidnapping a girl to turn her out into a pass around (i.e. read set up to be gang raped on a regular basis), a prostitute, or a house slave is "saving" her. They're only better than her mother in their own minds after some serious mental gymnastics in order to rationalize what is basically human trafficking and pretty much exactly what her mother was doing -- except her mother was going to pimp her out to one guy, whereas the MC situation threatens to give her to a gang of however many. Forcing a girl that was pretty much barely out of childhood into a situation with a bunch of creeps who feel entitled to her body because they kidnapped her from her mother into a "better" situation with threats about what his club members would do to her if she left and lies to his Club president that put her in danger is disgusting. Trying to say that the women are all with the MC and getting passed around consensually, yet that Abby/Charity could be used as something she's not and that the president could declare that she's a doxie or a pass around despite what Abby wants makes it crystal clear not all sex with the men of the gang is consensual -- making Ringo a complete liar; because let's be honest, you can't have it both ways. Either everything is consensual with women at the club, the men have some moral code and they leave an innocent female alone, or the thugs rape women when it suits them -- either they're going to use her or she can say "no" and they won't. YOU. CAN'T. HAVE. IT. BOTH. WAYS. And what's up with the "we have morals, we don't force women, but things can get out of hand." That's like saying, "Oh, it's not sexual assault, it's not rape, he didn't mean it, after all boys will be boys." Rounding the whole thing off is the whole submissive vibe about Abby/Charity, which skeeved me out because given the traumatizing situation they plucked her from, it felt tantamount to victim/child grooming. The female lead truly went from one bad situation to another bad situation of a different shade. Finally, why is it always the authors that push the "it's not rape, things got out of hand," crowd that always want to write a forum on anti-abortion despite rape circumstances in their books, too. And the author pushes that anti-abortion issue hard. So, nope, no, not even a little, and how did the author seriously think kidnapping and pimping out a girl, saying he owned her, then so thoroughly manipulating somebody who's been traumatized was in any way better than what her mother was going to do? Can't get my head around that. Skimmed the last two-thirds.

I was hooked from the start. The author does not waste time on useless unnecessary filler content. Immediately she takes you on rollercoaster from the very first sentence and doesn’t stop until you are hanging onto the very last words of book one! It will leave you on a cliff hanger. I’m desperate for book two and I will force myself through the pain because I will reread the book over and over again until the sequel that comes out at the end of June.
Ringo & Abbey stole my damn heart. It’s not a quick and easy relationship between them as this book and the characters go through quite a bit of turmoil and trauma. Side characters as well deal and express their own pain or discomfort and fear while the book goes on. I don’t know how she does it but I think by including some triggering things to the side characters makes it feel as if the story was taking place right before my own eyes. I was transported into this world and I read it in one sitting.
While abbey seems to be meek and as they call her “charity case” once the story gotten moving and the characters gained each others trust you realize how strong she truly is to be standing before the environment she is thrusted into.
The author wrote the feelings and actions of the characters of people who truly went through these events. Nothing felt dramatized or fake. I think this is my favourite read of march by far!
As always I will say check the tw page at the beginning of the book before starting as this book deals with some heavy elements that can be uncomfortable or even triggering to some. The book is a perfect balance of macabre and protective love. I can’t wait for the sequel to this story’ to learn and discover Rico’s point of view from how the story left off at the end of this book.

It’s very rare if deem a book 5 stars but I was hooked from the very start. Nothing dragged, I was hooked on every word and excited to see what was coming next. The fact that the slow burn for spice is 5 stars already because WOW those spicy scenes were insane (spoiler) and they didn’t even sleep together. This author knows how to write some pure magic to get the scenes that steamy without the characters going all the way. I am officially a huge fan and I can’t wait to read more of her work! Hands down a masterpiece of a story! 🫶

I've read a few Sarah JD books a few years ago and I loved them!!! This one also didn't disappoint!!
Beautifully Wounded is the first book in the new Secrets & Scars series, and wow this ends on a cliffhanger and I honestly can't wait for book two now!!! This story follows Abbey and Ringo.
Abbey wow what this young woman goes through had me crying 😭 she's being tortured and abused by her parents who are involved in a religious type cult so after getting caught with her so called boyfriend they are both told they must marry soon but until then she's put through some horrible abuse especially from her mother!! So when she's suddenly kidnapped by Ringo (doing a favour for a friend) and taken to the Southern Sadists MC....Ringo certainly doesn't know what to do with her, he knows she's been through some kinda abuse but he waits till she's ready to tell him what exactly happened to her and when she finally does open up....oh my this is where I started crying 😭 this poor young girl only 18 and already what she's been through as you hoping Ringo goes to sort the lot of them out.
Ringo.....well where do I start with this guy....wow!!! He's one hell of a man yes he's done bad things etc etc but he melts my heart with how caring he is with Abbey 🥰 she deserves happiness and the world and can Ringo be the one to give it to her? Can she ever get over the abuse? The way Ringo made sure she was ok throughout the book made my heart melt 🫠 when she wasn't quite ready for sexual activities he made sure to stay back and go when she was ready. Damn..!! That cliffhanger I really wasn't expecting that!!! I honestly can't wait for book two and I really hope Ringo doesn't let me down but somehow I don't think he will !!

Abbey wow what this young woman goes through had me crying 😭 she's being tortured and abused by her parents who are involved in a religious type cult so after getting caught with her so called boyfriend they are both told they must marry soon but until then she's put through some horrible abuse especially from her mother!! So when she's suddenly kidnapped by Ringo (doing a favour for a friend) and taken to the Southern Sadists MC....Ringo certainly doesn't know what to do with her, he knows she's been through some kinda abuse but he waits till she's ready to tell him what exactly happened to her and when she finally does open up....oh my this is where I started crying 😭 this poor young girl only 18 and already what she's been through as you hoping Ringo goes to sort the lot of them out.
Ringo.....well where do I start with this guy....wow!!! He's one hell of a man yes he's done bad things etc etc but he melts my heart with how caring he is with Abbey 🥰 she deserves happiness and the world and can Ringo be the one to give it to her? Can she ever get over the abuse? I absolutely loved this story and can not wait for the next book
The MFC Abbey is such a lovely character. She’s been dealt such a terrible hand in life and had her life controlled and manipulated by the very people who are supposed to look out for her, who are supposed to protect her and love her unconditionally
The emotions I felt for this young lady was next level I felt it all.

Abbey has suffered through endless torture and abuse, my heart broke for this young woman for all she has endured by her abusers. The people who were supposed to protect her at all costs.
Ringo is sent on a mission as a favour to someone from his past to rescue Abbey from the clutches of despicable people. I absolutely adored Ringo he was patient, kind understanding but above all he wanted to earn Abbey’s trust. Ringo and Abbey formed a connection on a deep level and I could not get enough.
Sarah JD is a phenomenal story teller and she knocked this story right out of the park. I was completely consumed right from the very first page, I am now waiting on tenterhooks for the next instalment of what’s going to be an epic series. Please be aware that this book does end in the mother of all cliffhangers. I need the next book like yesterday.

If you like dark romance, motorcycle gangs, age gap , kidnapping, enemies to lovers then this one is for you.
Yes it’s linked with characters from Heavy but you don’t have to have read that series to read this.
Check the triggers these didn’t bother me what did surprise me was how I felt by the book being set in Melbourne during a Covid lockdown. That was my PTSD moment and probably not quite the PTSD Sarah thought in her trigger list.
I found this book so easy to read, it felt very well researched and I struggled to put it down.
The FMC Abbey has been through so much and the way the MMC Ringo gets her away from the toxic and abusive situation to then help her through her trauma really helps you as the reader to get through any triggers of the trauma.
I am not usually a fan of slow burn but this book really sucked me in that it kept me reading and wanting more. This is more of a slow burn with intense building heat.
I am left wanting to know if their romance can get through this big speed bump and come out the other side. I have a feeling we will know more in book two but we will still be kept guessing.

After meeting Daniel who became her fiancé Abby was constantly threatened that if she did anything wrong the wedding would be bought forward.
The day before the wedding Abbey is kidnapped by the The Southern Sadists MC and things change again.
There are a few twists that just kept me gripped and wanting to know more as well and not wanting to put this book down.

OMG I did NOT see that coming!!! Talk about a cliffhanger in the best way.
In Beautifully Wounded we meet Abbey whose parents have joined a “church” cough cough cult and are determined to make her into a woman who will serve her husband one day. However, the abuse she endured at their hands is nothing that any child should go through. Enter Ringo a rough and tough motorcycle club member who kidnaps her and brings her to safety.
The club environment is not for a meek and timid barely 18 year old. It’s filled of violence, drugs and all day pleasure by the doxies. Flash backs of her trauma continue to unfold in this story but something else begins to bloom between Abbey and Ringo though neither will fully admit it.
Despite the heavy topics, this was a wonderful book. It was heartbreaking when Abbey finally revealed her past to Ringo and dare I say he has the patience of a Saint. And just as I thought their relationship was going to take a turn with perhaps feelings being admitted…boom….cue the mic drop. My jaw is still on the ground and I need book 2 to come out asap.

What a book 1 for the the Secrets and Scars series!!!!! This book made me feel every emotion there is and believe me there are a lot!!!!
Abbey has endured so much trauma in her life that you would want to handle her with kids gloves. So what happens when a group of MC members kidnaps her? Well it isn't really handled like a kiddo that's for sure!!!! This may have broken some, abbey is stronger than she appears!!
Ringo hasn't found a woman he has wanted to be with in a few years - enter Abbey - and he doesn't know why he is taking all the risks he is. Will he still feel this way when he learns of all her secrets? This book leaves in a cliffhanger and I am so excited for Book 2 to come out now!!!!
While this is a slow burn, it covers so much fragile content it needed to be. It is written perfectly! Everyone will want to read this series and at the same time wanting to act their own vengeance and just hug Abbey!!!! Ya, it's that great of a book I promise you will never regret reading this series.

HOLY SMOKES!! WOW did not see that ending coming. I devoured this book. DEVOURED!! And I am raging at the ending… (good type of raging).
Right let’s talk about Ringo, wowsers!! Look, I won’t lie, I’m not a fan of bearded MMCs, but Sarah JD may have just managed to change that for me, I was hanging on his every word, every action! He is a beautiful monster, part of an MC group, powerful, gorgeous, sweet and so delicious!! How much he cares for Abbey (FMC) and the lengths he goes for her, the restraint he shows her, OMG AMAZING!!
Abbey, she had my heart, she has a tragic story, trauma, so much trauma, but seeing her morphing back into a stronger, more powerful version of herself is beautiful, all with the help of Ringo.

Make sure you read the triggers as you might find some of what you’re reading to be triggering. Sarah did an amazing job with developing the character well peeling away the layers and showing their inner turmoils while trying to figure out their feelings. The relationship between Abbey and Ringo is tested at every turn whether it’s from the motorcycle club Ringo belongs to, the police who are supposed to protect you, or the person who rescued you and whether or not, you can trust them. Make sure you check it out and you won’t be disappointed.

That was amazing!!! I finished it in 1 day, because I was captivated! That ending though....oh my gosh!!! I wasn't sure whether I wanted to scream or cry on Abbey's behalf.
I absolutely loved both main characters.
Abbey has some fire and sass inside her, just waiting to come out. I loved that we got to see hints of that.
Ringo, he was the perfect man. The patience, care, and understanding he shows towards Abbey was everything. It made me swoon.
The banter and sexual tension between them was fire.
Honestly, I loved everything about this book. The plot, the main characters, and everything in between.
In the mean time, I'm going to try and be patient until book 2 arrives. Not sure how well that will go though.
This was a definite 5 star, must read!!!

First of all, I want to say, I know this book shows the slow burn 🔥 trope, but even though it is slow burn, there is still steam and plenty to keep you in it for more!
I absolutely love Sarah JD and her writing. It’s easy to read and follow. She builds her characters Ringo and Abbey perfectly! It is slightly slow in the beginning because of the background building, but I promise, there is reason for it.
The trauma abbey has endured is heart wrenching and knowing she may have found her new family has my heart soaring!
Abbey and Ringo’s chemistry is off the charts, you can feel it coming off the page.
This is book 1, the story doesn’t end here so please keep that in mind, and as always check your trigger warnings.

This was the first book I'd read from this author, and I enjoyed it!
Abbey was going through something horrible when she was suddenly rescued - by someone who took on the job as a favour, and planned to hold on to her for a few days and move on. However, it didn't take long for Ringo to realise he didn't want to let her go.
I've read a fair amount of MC romances, and while they do all have similarities, I liked the way this one was written.
Now - that twist?! I was not expecting it, but now I can't wait to see how book two plays out.
