Just a short book, aimed at secondary or college students, but with a good selection of sources and explanatory style, encouraging students to weigh the evidence critically. Starts with an account of the strike (which might have been a bit more in-depth) and then spends the majority of the book on its causes, which is very well done - considering general economic and political factors as well as those more directly relating to the miners and their industry. A brief afterword on the impact of the defeat (again, a bit more would have been nice, but clearly they were trying to keep the book brief).
