Rule #1 of Don't fall for your boss.
Rule #2: Don't let his daughter steal your heart.
Rule #3: Definitely don't say yes when he asks you to marry him.
I've already broken all three.
Tyler Davenport is six-feet-four-inches of pure gorgeousness in a tailored suit. Former-Marine turned ruthless billionaire. Devoted single dad. The man whose steely gaze makes my heart race. And now... my boss.
I was handling it. Really.
Until his little girl called me "mommy" over breakfast.
Until I caught him watching me with intensity across the dinner table.
Until he demanded I become his wife—just for show—to claim his inheritance.
Now we're sharing a roof. A home.
His touch lingers too long to be accidental. His glances feel too intense to be fake. And the way he holds me at night? That's definitely not in our contract.
But I've seen the steel in those blue eyes. Heard his vow to never fall in love. And I'm starting to realize that pretending to be Mrs. Davenport might cost me everything—especially my heart.

L. Steele loves to write romance novels featuring powerful men and strong women who bring them to their knees. When she's not writing she enjoys trading trivia with her filmmaker husband, watching lots and lots of movies, and walking nature trails.
I just don't think this book was for me so I don't think I'm going to give it a rating. It has all the tropes that I don't like (miscommunication, insta love) and it just felt way too soap opera-y for me. The characters basically fell in love after chapter 2 which is beyond unrealistic. This was more spice than anything else and that's not my thing.
The best part was the daughter, she melted my heart. I was hoping for more cute domestic family moments.
This was a mess. INSTA love, beta hero with great abs and arms that has the emotional stability of a 13 year old, confusing timeline, too many plot points, slow pacing, and the most ridiculous coincidences ever...
"Mama?" Serene touches Priscilla’s cheek. There's a look of wonder on my daughter’s little features. "Oh." Priscilla’s gaze grows big. Her chin trembles. She opens her mouth and closes it, seemingly unable to react. "Mama." Serene nods with satisfaction. There's confidence in her voice, the kind I’ve never heard before. Then she grabs hold of a strand of Priscilla’s hair and tugs on it. "Ow," Priscilla says softly, still not looking away from my child. "Mama come home." Serene squirms in Priscilla’s grasp, and she puts the toddler down. Not that Serene lets go of her. She grabs Priscilla’s hand and gently tugs, trying to lead her toward the living room. Priscilla glances down at her with a half-surprised, half-amused kind of expression on her face. I don’t blame her. It summarizes how I feel about what’s happening. Does my little girl have a sixth sense about Priscilla? Is it even possible she remembers her? Or is it simply that she likes the look of Priscilla—which I can’t blame her for. After all, whose daughter is she, hmm? But also… I’m bemused. "Papa—" She looks at Priscilla, then back at me. "Mama?" Priscilla shifts her weight from foot to foot. "Oh no, I’m not your mommy, Poppet. I’m—" "Your new nanny..."
To find out what happens next read The Rejected Wife by L. Steele on Amazon in Kindle Unlimited => https://readerlinks.com/l/4542197
It was my first read by L. Steele, and I was hooked from the start. From their first meeting to the chaos of unexpected parenthood and painful misunderstandings, the chemistry between Tyler and Priscilla is captivating.
Priscilla is everything I want in a heroine: strong, curvy, smart, and full of heart. Watching her bond with Tyler's daughter was heart-melting, and seeing how fiercely she loves—even when she's hurting—made me root for her every step of the way.
Tyler, a brooding, emotionally guarded billionaire and single dad, is one of the most tender heroes I’ve read in a while. His vulnerability, especially as he navigates sudden fatherhood, adds layers to his character that I didn’t expect but absolutely loved.
Their journey isn’t without bumps, especially when a baby arrives out of the blue and Tyler makes a heartbreaking (and frustrating!) decision—but the payoff is worth it. The way they find their way back to each other, through heartache and hope, is both sexy and soul-stirring.
What you can expect: ♡ marriage of convenience ♡ nanny/single dad ♡ curvy heroine ♡ grumpy/sunshine ♡ possessive MMC ♡ guaranteed HEA
This isn’t just about steamy attraction or tropey fun (though there’s plenty of that!). It’s a story of second chances, healing, and found family. If you’re looking for a romance that’s both spicy and heartfelt, check out this story!

In The Rejected Wife we read the story of Tyler and Priscilla. They meet in fun romantic way when Tyler saves Priscilla from losing all her stuff in the subway. From the moment they meet there is this instant attraction between them. They soon decide to spend more time together, but unfortunately Tyler soon gets a huge surprise.
Although the idea of this book sounded perfect to me, this book just wasn’t for me. The instant love between Tyler and Priscilla just felt a little farfetched to me, and I just couldn’t really connect to the characters.
I did finish this read, because I was curious to learn more about what was happening with the characters.. but in the end I just didn’t really enjoy this one.
This book is a mix, half tale half a Colombian soap opera show! 😂😂😂 The beginning is not for everyone ( it’s safe) the tropes are very confusing but I would say it’s safe She is an amazing young woman and he is a little cooky idiot at the beginning, later in the book he is just a dream, He grows up a lot and he changes to be a better man for her When they get together the book is very romantic and extremely hot, there’s a lot of sec scene and they’re very romantic and sexy, he is an amazing husband The author has imagination… and the series is really good!
No cheating No OP drama Romantic and sexy Very interesting side characters

Tyler is definitely on my list of book boyfriends. The things he does for Cilla is all a girl can ask for! The twist in this series is so sweet and it’s just fate doing its job making a happy ending!
“Love isn’t about losing yourself in someone else; it’s about discovering the parts of you that were always meant to shine.”
This book had me in a chokehold. Tyler and Priscilla had such a strong connection from the beginning, there was no denying their chemistry. The way these two met and had their second chance was so fun and such a natural way.
The impact of Serene in this story pulled at your heart and reading Tyler as a dad made me even hotter. This book was a quick read that was a nice change from what I’ve been reading. L Steele’s Davenports series has been such a fun series with Arthur and his ways.
Way too many things in this book are a "one in a billion" chance, yet they all happen. It honestly made the story laughable for me. What started out as a strong story with amazing chemistry between Tyler and Pricilla, ended up fizzling out rather quickly in my opinion. Once she agreed to be his nanny, it was all down hill from there. Then add to it the utter nonsense that is the truth of Serene's biological parents. I rolled my eyes so hard I'm surprised they didn't get stuck in my head. Then add to the fact that Pricilla acted like an absolute child about Tyler pushing her away after he found a baby on his doorstep, but then Pricilla turning around and doing the same exact thing to Tyler when she finds out her connection to Serene - get out of here. Also, for the big bad, uber rich Davenports, their security sure is shitty. They basically end up with a stalker who hires a PI, who is able to uncover everything about the Davenport's locations. Umm...what? The whole thing with Serene's birth mom was such a joke.
I absolutely loved it. I was hooked from the start. If you looking for a single dad with a marriage of convenience this is for you. Priscilla and Tyler meet on the train when Tyler rescues Priscilla's purse when it gets caught on the trains door. There’s a spark between the two from the start until a baby shows up at Tyler's front door with a note saying his the father. This changes everything as Tyler struggles with his new circumstance and decides to send Priscilla away because he doesn't want to saddle her with a baby.
There’s more to story.. Their first connection when Tyler rescues Priscilla’s purse from the clutches of the train door. “The man towering behind me is the kind I’ve never seen before in real life. He seems to have stepped off a movie screen. Like something out of a fever dream. Tall. Broad. Built like he bench presses Aston Martins for fun. His face? Sharp cheekbones, strong jaw, lips made for bad decisions. But it’s the eyes that stop me cold—one an icy blue, the other a deep forest green. The look in them piercing. Confident. Like he was born with assurance coded into his DNA.”
He’s a mature man. AM I SHOCKED? YES. He didn’t hide his emotions for her. He’s attracted and enamored with Priscilla from the first sight of their eyes clash.
And then, just as the train begins to slow for the next stop, he dips his chin. “Have coffee with me.” I blink. “Excuse me?” “Coffee.” That almost-smile is back. Dangerous and heart-stopping. “Just one. You owe me.” He offered her for a coffee. He massaged the owner of the place on the way over from the train station and asked her to clear space for them. WOOOOOOOHHH SWOONING 😮💨😮💨 In that day they went his friend’s bookshop he bought her all the books she wants! They spend the day almost loving 😍 But then she already decided let herself to him… Until a baby shows up at Tyler’s front door, there was a note saying the baby belongs to him.
Tyler being kinda unhinged at the time. Tyler struggles with his new circumstances. Then, he decides to send Priscilla away because he doesn’t want to saddle her with a baby. Time separating and 6 months later he saw her…

⚠️⚠️⚠️LITTLE SPOILER⚠️⚠️⚠️ -evil OWD: Lauren (ow) she’s not Serene’s biological mother. I don’t wanna spoiled anyone just so you know Serene’s biological parents are Tyler and Priscilla. There’s lot of things but this situation making this book to my favorite. MY REMINDER: SAFE. SAFE. SAFE. because my thoughts exceed to the top. That’s all I wanted to say 🫢
I was shocked and I’m so happy because Serene is Tyler and Priscilla’s biological daughter! Because Serene and Priscilla’s mother and daughter relationship was something else… I WAS SOBBING BECAUSE THIS PLOT MAKING ME SO HAPPY AND ALSO CRAZY.
-OMD: Cilla engaged to Tyler’s brother Knox but it’s an arranged marriages between families. Nothing happened between them, it’s totally SAFE!
-Age gap (h:25/H:34)
-Separation 6 months: she’s still V and he’s taking care of her daughter and he’s celibate during and after the separation!!! So totally SAFE.
-V-h 💚 non-v H After he leaves the military adjust back to civilian life was not that easy for him and he used to alcohol too much and he was a former man-ho.
-EPILOGUE WITH HEA 🤍
“I do." He looks straight into my eyes. "It’s someone I've had on my mind for a while. Someone I have amazing chemistry with. Someone who is gorgeous inside and out. Someone, who not only has the most incredible curves, but also a beautiful soul. Someone who is kind and generous, and also quirky, and never fails to liven up the atmosphere when she walks into a room. Someone I trust. Someone who I know will take good care of Serene.”
I love his grandpa GOOD JOB THEY FINALLY COME BACK! This line before their “arranged marriage” then the proposal coming!
We asked the gardener to be our other witness, and he was very happy to oblige. When Tyler and I told Serene we were getting married—and that it meant she could call me Mama—she barely looked up from her toys. “You already are my mama,” she said. Then she went right back to playing. Tyler and I just stared at each other, a little stunned, a little amused. Serene had already arrived at the conclusion we were still trying to wrap our heads around. To her, we were already a family.
This book has cliffhanger in the middle and everywhere. But one of the safest, coziest and best book I’ve ever read. I knew from the beginning I’m gonna love this book but I didn’t mean that much!!!!!! PriscillaTyler my lovely lovers 🤍 Serene babyyyy I hope we’re getting your book. My favorites 🤍♾️
The DAVENPORTS are extremely alluring and addictive in every sense of the words and there’s no exception in reference to Tyler Davenport. Ex marine with loads of attributes, with a very sudden and undeniable attraction both physical and emotional to a woman , a stranger whom he’s feels compelled to help on a train and unexpected fatherhood to a beautiful baby girl named Serene makes this reading a very explosive one. A page turner you won’t be able to put down once you start reading. Tyler is a woman’s dream come true and a wet one at that 🥵! He and Priscilla are powerful and strong together and must face heartbreaking challenges that will make them stronger in the end. This author is AMAZINGLY TALENTED in drawing you into her world of love at its highest level, commitment and promises you’ll cherish FOREVER !
First of all, yes, I "only" read the beta version of the book, but after giving my feedback, I'm well aware of changes or no changes. So with this knowledge, I give my full opinion on this book.
OMG, this book drove me crazy 🤯 In a good way!!! This book is hands down the best book I've read by Laxmi. And I've read and loved ALL her books!
These Davenport men... All of them!!! 🙈 They fell head over heels in love with a woman. Then push them away for whatever crazy reason. And end up in a marriage of convenience with the woman they freaking love? Honestly? Why? I mean, is there something in their DNA, or what's wrong with them? They make me 😵💫 And at the same time, I'm swooning over them 😎 God, they are gods. And Tyler isn't just a god, he is such a perfect dad 😍 He would need a nanny, urgently, but he just can't trust anyone with his little princess 🥰
This isn't the typical single dad x nanny book. It's all a bit complicated 🙈 One thing is, yes, this book starts off odd for everyone who has read the previous Davenport books. It feels "wrong". But believe me. It isn't 😁 The book just starts before other things happened. And when it comes to one specific scene... yeah, then everything makes sense.
It's really sooo good. I inhaled it. I couldn't put it down. Especially when there came this plot twist. OMG 😱 😱 😱
Next in line is Connor, the youngest Davenport brother. I love him. But I'm sure he isn't what I'm expecting him to be. These men never are. And I'm excited about what Arthur will have in mind again. I already know he is forcing Connor into a marriage, like he did with all his grandsons and son 🙈 But I love this old man.
Thanks to the author for trusting me with a beta 🩷
Oh my god I’m obsessed!! I don’t even know where to start! From their meet-cute on a subway to the insane 24hrs and her being heartbroken and all the things that brought them back into each others lives?!! It’s a whirlwind of a story but SO SO good!
This is 100% a second chance, marriage of convenience, he falls first but can’t acknowledge it, single parent romance that will have you in your feelings but don’t worry it’s also extremely steamy!!!
I love Serene so much she is such an adorable little girl and I love how well she just fits Cilla into her life like she’s always been there!
This was everything I was hoping it’d be, just angsty enough where I’m holding on for more but not wanting to throw my kindle, steamy and emotional!
A Twist of Fate L. Steele continues to weave together the perfect blend of passion and desire. Tyler and Cilla spend a delicious day together only to have it shattered by an infant. But fate works in mysterious ways and will bring them together in ways they never imagined!
I DNF’d at 70% It was so good until they met Serene’s surrogate mother 🙄🙄🙄 I mean you couldn’t just shut her up and kick her out or get serene out of there They were all just looking 👀 and the FMC I’m sorry but she’s too weak and then she’s sympathizing with her stalker/the woman that caused her child to get hurt Gosh I really loved the book at the beginning but it’s got really annoying I really love L. Steele’s books but this one was badly written I feel like she was just adding stuff to make the book longer

L. Steele you had me at “It’s been a date since I sat next to you on the tube.” “ “From the moment I met her, I knew she was my future.” Who can resist a man who says this? The raw, deep emotions between the two main characters is sizzling. The attraction between them is hot and 100% off the charts. Seriously, I was hooked 1% into the book. So much happens so fast.. the chemistry between Tyler & Cilla will make you swoon. The connection between them, the eye contact and loving words are EVERYTHING and let me tell you I’m here for it all! This book is not your typical I’m falling for my daughter’s nanny. It’s so much more. Where do I begin? This book has all the feels. So many emotions. You’ll laugh and cry, your heart will break for them, there are some crazy twists you definitely won’t see coming, just true love, an unbreakable bond and so much sacrifice. Family is everything and they prove it in spades. As always you will be rooting for their HEA and this book does not disappoint. Such page turning powerful story. What more can you want? Wait, I know… We also get a brief mention of another couple from The Sovranos. It gives me hope that ALL IS NOT WHAT IT SEEMS. Bravo L. Steele you did Tyler & Cilla’s story justice. Eagerly awaiting what comes next
📗 Nanny/Single Dad 📕 Marriage Of Convenience 📘 Possessive MMC 📙 Grumpy/Sunshine 📚 Creepy Baby Mumma
What a bumpy ride. This story has painful misunderstandings and miscommunications that can be quite frustrating, but you can’t deny the chemistry and attraction between these two is instantaneous. From the swoon inducing start to the final page. These two cannot keep their hands off each other. The smut certainly gets delivered with this one!
I know it’s just a book, but the one thing that really angered me? Baby mumma is creepy AF and is stalking and breaching restraining orders etc and it isn’t taken seriously enough?! She should be locked up! These order are in place for a reason!
Not as simple as falling for the nanny.... This has that second chance vibe, and I am here for it!! I absolutely loved Tyler and Cilla from the start, even though Tyler made some questionable choices, some that backfired, and he didn't know why. This read has some crazy twists, that you don't see coming until they are almost happening. Serene was such a sweet child, even though the writing portrays her as older than she is, it didn't take me out of the story, I just rolled with it. The steam is off the charts, and the chemistry is fire from the start. I love how these books can be read as a stand alone, but you get little tidbits explaining things or adding to previous reads. I am telling you to read them all and from the start. All these books are amazing and I look forward to when the next one comes out everytime!! Definitely recommend!! I am slowly purchasing all of L. Steele's books, some of my favorites.
I received an ARC of this book, all opinions and thoughts are my own.
Gotta love the Davenport men! Wonderful characters, Tyler and Priscilla are the perfect couple. A well written love story, of them finding each other again. The bonus epilogue was fantastic. A must read. Can’t wait for Connor and Phoenix.
This may well be my favorite book from L. Steele, thus far. As her editor, I’ve witnessed her improvement over time. Ms. Steele’s writing keeps getting better, and this one captured the emotions of the characters and conveyed them in a way I felt was relatable and intense. Metaphors were original and vivid. And the circumstances Tyler and Priscilla found themselves in were unique and almost magical. There were some descriptions that I simply must share:
This is the first time Priscilla meets Tyler, when he rescues her purse from the clutches of the subway door. “The man towering behind me is the kind I’ve never seen before in real life. He seems to have stepped off a movie screen. Like something out of a fever dream. Tall. Broad. Built like he bench-presses Aston Martins for fun. His face? Sharp cheekbones, strong jaw, lips made for bad decisions.”
“You okay?” he asks, voice like midnight whiskey and bad intentions.
Tyler is probably one of my favorite MMCs from this series. He still fits the description of the alpha male that Ms. Steele favors, but he’s different. He’s emotionally more mature and available than most of the other men. He is enamored with Priscilla from the moment he sets eyes on her, and he doesn’t try to hide his feelings. She feels the strong connection between them, and they seem like they’re on the path to happily ever after. Until a baby shows up at Tyler’s front door, with a note saying she belongs to him.
This changes everything. Tyler struggles with his new circumstance and decides to send Priscilla away because he doesn’t want to saddle her with a baby. Unfortunately, he doesn’t explain his thinking, so she is heartbroken and feels like he rejected her. If you’ve read “The Unplanned Wedding,” about Knox and June, you’ll know that Priscilla agrees to an arranged marriage with Knox, Tyler’s brother. And you’ll also know that the wedding didn’t happen. In this book, you’ll find out why Priscilla agreed to it, and you’ll find out how Tyler felt. And finally, you’ll find out how they overcame the obstacles in front of them and found their happily ever after, after all. It’s an intense ride, with NSFW scenes in which the emotions described and the connection between the two of them are profoundly moving.
And here are some random quotes that don’t need an explanation. I just thought they were clever: “I kiss her deeply, sliding my tongue over hers, and it’s sweet and life-affirming and turns my heart into an instrument that could shatter any moment.”
“That thick, gooey feel of his voice pours over me like liquid chocolate over sticky caramel.”
“My heart gallops so hard, it feels like it’s going to sprout hooves and break through my ribcage.”
“Hope is a tenuous green shoot that breaks through a crack in the parched ground of my heart.”
I highly recommend this book. Although it still slides into the kind of kink that is not my cup of tea, it’s tame in comparison to some of the other books in this series. This allowed Steele to focus on the relationship between Tyler and Priscilla, and it is epic.
This book kicks off with a great meet-cute, a “spicy meal” and a hidden bookshop…and a baby left at Tyler’s door - and that’s just the beginning.
Tyler and Pricilla have such amazing chemistry…but it’s not smooth sailing! After baby Serene is left on his doorstep he dismisses Pricilla. But months later he is still not over Cilla…he needs a nanny and a wife…but will she agree to help?
This story is spicy and emotional - it starts out with a fast burn/insta love moment and turns into this great slow burn with tension and a second chance for them.
I really liked Pricilla - she was smart and strong and witty. I also loved her relationship with Serene. Tyler is brooding and possessive and swoon worthy.
Cilla’s Post-It notes at the beginning of her chapters are so good - be sure and check out a few of her favorite recipes at the end!
✨What to Expect: 💰Billionaire 🌹Single Dad 💍Marriage of Convenience ❤️🔥CEO x Nanny 🌦️Grumpy/Sunshine 💋Confident Curvy FMC 🔥He’s Possessive ❤️Found Family
I’ve already read from the author a book out of the series out of the Devonport Brothers series but this one had more plot than the one that I’ve read. You can see that the FMC and the MMC have a growth day gets to know each other better even though in the beginning there is definitely a chemistry between the two of them, but as a major plot twist happens right in the beginning of the book Their story kind of cuts off and they come back together and their storyline in twines again somewhere in the middle of the book, there was drama. There was definitely a lot of drama because of the family and the relationships in between the family the role of the parents in the book is a main plot line who is the father? Who is the mother of the kid in the beginning with think that he definitely is the father of the kid, but we don’t know the mother we think we know the mother, but we don’t know the mother and we will get to know that in the end and I think that the plot line in which they are already in contact without knowing that they are in contact goes on and on in the book at some point it gets irritating but that’s the only reason why I gave only four stars and not five stars but all in all it’s a good book
The Rejected Wife by L. Steele is the captivating story of Tyler and Priscilla. Theirs is definitely an unusual story!! The night they meet and have an instant connection…is also the night that Tyler is delivered shocking news! So, he makes a decision then and there…
This story was heartfelt and touching…filled with promise and despair. So many outside influences on both of them…creating an untenable situation. Can they overcome all of these obstacles??? The only problem with the story was the disclosure of an event…in which the odds of occurring…are astronomical!!! This was a little outside the realm of believability…but, since I loved the story and the characters…it was no problem!!!! Loved the story!!! Lots of fun Easter Eggs!!!!
