🌶️2.5/5
SPOILERS below - fair warning
Theo truly stole the show in Knot for Keeps. His personality and unhinged self had me hooked. And if I'm being honest, if his character wasn't in the book, this would have been a DNF. With that said, I loved him.
Also, as a true crime junkie, I loooved having that added in here haha. And to be honest, Archer was a strong character at first that I absolutely adored him. Of course, he became overshadowed, but he did start off amazing.
I loved the whole concept of the book. From long distance "Pen Pals" to being kidnapped by said "Pen Pal" and his pack to falling in love with them. I loved the whole storyline.
But there were a few issues that made my rating tank, unfortunately.
- There were quite a few errors that were missed by the editing team. Most of which were easy to ignore, but there was a section in the book where it was one of the MMCs talking (in his POV), and then it was clear two large paragraphs were the FMC but in first person as if it were her POV, even though it was still the MMC's POV. Which was pretty confusing and took a couple of rereads to understand what was going on.
- Now this is my biggest issue, the bonding wasn't on page. We don't see her bond with her back - at the very end of the book, Lavender mentions they bonded, and Theo rubs his bonding mark, but we don't get the experience of them bonding on page. I'm sure others will agree that bonding is such a big aspect in Omegaverse, it makes the book feel incomplete when we don't get to experience it. It's one of the things I look forward to the most when it comes to Omegaverse, so this was definitely a bummer.
- This is more of a me issue, but I love when OVs end in pregnancy, and this one didn't. Again, a me issue. I know not everyone wants pregnancy in books. 🖤
- There was hinted MM between Gage and Theo, but nothing on page. It would have either been nice to see something happen between them, or not to have mentioned it. The reason I feel this way is because it truly seemed as if the author set it up perfectly for their relationship, just for nothing to happen between them. 😅
As for the spice, the spice we do get is nice. There isn't a whole lot of it terms of how many scenes and with who. Our first spice coming in at 54%. The next from 63-65%, and the last is the big heat from 76-81%. With Kane only being involved in one scene. Theo was definitely favored in the spice hahah. Overall, I'd say it was a 2.5, maybe even a 2.
I still enjoyed the book. The true crime, pen pal, and Theo's wild self were worth the few hours spent reading it. 🖤
