Skye Druids #7

After Midnight

Rate this book

She was always my weakness. Now she’s my only hope.

She was my salvation once—wild magic in her blood, fire in her kiss, and a body I still dream about. I touched heaven with her.

Then dragged us both to hell.

Now she looks at me like I’m the enemy. But I see the way she trembles when I get too close. Feel her power pulse when I say her name.

She hasn’t forgotten.

And I’ll make damn sure she remembers.

An ancient evil is rising beneath Skye—older than our magic, and twice as ruthless.

Only she and I can stop it. We’re bound by fate, fueled by everything we never stopped wanting.

She doesn’t trust me. Doesn’t want to want me.

Too bad. Because I’ll fight for her. Claim her.

Ruin her all over again—if that’s what it takes to keep her safe.

This isn’t just about saving the world. It’s about us.

What I destroyed.

What I’ll never let go again.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Donna Grant returns to the Skye Druids, where destiny awakens, secrets unravel, and a love long denied refuses to fade.

After Midnight is a thrilling addition to this series filled with phenomenal magical battles and surprising twists.

The Skye Druids sure have their work cut out for them. Their enemies are multiplying, in number and abilities. But they work well together as a cohesive unit and their numbers are also growing. It’s becoming a bit harder to keep everyone straight.

I really felt for Kurt. He was heavily manipulated by his family and he had his work cut out for him to prove himself to Sabryn again. Sabryn had a very interesting and exciting development arc. She gave Kurt a good run for his money. I loved that they were able to reconcile and find happiness together, but there were so many other things happening that overshadowed them and their developing romance. In the end, the magic came through to give their relationship an outstanding ending.

The final battle was edge-of-your-seat crazy, spiked with anxiety, adrenaline, and fear. And while our heroes won the day, the war is far from over.

After Midnight is book 7 in the Skye Druids series and I definitely recommend that you read the series in order, otherwise you will miss too much world building. If you can, read some of the other books that all form part of this interconnected world.

Thank you to the author for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

While I definitely enjoyed reading this story, finally getting to understand Sabryn and Kurt’s past, and seeing them find their way back to an HEA, I have to say there was so much going on around them, with foe after foe popping up, that I didn’t get nearly enough “them” time for my liking. Sabryn has lived through a lot of pain and trauma in the time since Kurt broke her heart, but the more she learns about their past together the more she realizes she never knew. She is definitely a strong and stubborn woman, but when she finally is forced to confront the full truth and see everything from all angles she comes to understand that sometimes forgiveness and love are the greatest weapons against evil we can wield. Kurt has a lot in his past to be ashamed of and atone for, but he had never stopped loving Sabryn and protecting her has always been his goal, even if he has to do it in secret as Saber. Now that he is forced out of hiding he knows that she might push him out of her life and he’ll lose her forever, but he has to take the chance if it means keeping her (and the rest of Skye) safe from the evil chasing him down. His determination and passion fuel his mission and make him a perfect match for Sabryn once they both stop living in the past and accept that the only way forward is by living in the present and accepting their love and happiness together. Its obvious their chemistry has never faded and that their love was always predestined, so seeing them finally accept that and the way it helped them defeat their enemies was impressive. I am looking forward to more in the series, but I continue to hope that we have more relationship building and a little less craziness because I’m going to have to start taking notes on all these enemies otherwise! Donna Grant’s imagination truly terrifies me at times because I can promise you that very few authors have her ability to suck you into stories this way and make you feel right there beside her characters battling enemies terrifying and awe-inspiring all at once.

We are back on Skye with the Druids. A fight between the Knights and London Druids.Sabryn can hear and talk to the wind. Sabryn was in a relationship with Kurt in DC and it went wrong. The London Druids wanted to get the Sabryn’s family in with them. They killed her father and her Kurt was gone. Now six years later and he is back but he has a secret. Sabryn doesn’t want to forgive him but now that she is listening to the wind again, it tells her she needs to trust Kurt. The fighting heats up. Lots are injured. Will good win against evil?

It’s so hard for me to review these cause I don’t want to give anything away. Good vs Evil. Steamy. Secrets. Lies. Sabryn is courageous and stunning and Kurt is smart and wants forgiveness.

After Midnight is part of Donna Grant’s Skye Druids series, a paranormal romance set against the atmospheric backdrop of Scotland’s Isle of Skye. The story blends Druids, a Reaper, Ancients, and a mysterious evil entity into a high-stakes tale filled with magic, danger, and love.
At its heart, the book reunites Kurt and Sabryn. Though they share a complicated past, Sabryn and her team, the Knights, have been working with Kurt under his alias “Saber,” unaware of his true identity. When danger forces Kurt out of hiding, he returns to Skye to protect the woman he’s never stopped loving.
The plot is packed with action and intrigue. The Edinburgh Druids have allied with Kurt’s brother Peter, a powerful London Druid, while the ever-troublesome Edie is back to wreak havoc wherever possible. Admittedly, the story felt a bit overwhelming at first with so many moving parts and characters. But once I reached the halfway point, the narrative hit its stride; balancing romance, betrayal, and the looming battle between good and evil.
The final chapters are especially gripping, delivering both an emotional happily-ever-after for Kurt and Sabryn and an epic showdown that kept me turning the pages late into the night.
If you enjoy paranormal romances with a fast pace, plenty of drama, and a touch of chaos, After Midnight is a rewarding read. Be ready for magic, danger, and passion; because this story takes you on a ride worth taking.

Book 7 of the Skye Druids

Kurt Barclay has spent the last 6 years hiding from the woman he loves. Disguised as the hacker, Sabertooth, he has protected her and her friends from afar as they battle evil in Skye but his past has caught up to him and he his forced to reveal himself.

Six years ago, Kurt broke Sabryn’s heart but now he’s back bringing up old memories and pain. Sabryn can’t forgive him but she can’t deny they need him.

This is my least favourite installment in the series unfortunately. It’s a bit too chaotic with too many villains and plot lines. They’re fighting Edie, Parker, The Grey Monster, George and her Edinburgh Druids, The London Druids and possibly still Beth. There was too much going on that I found it difficult to follow the plot at any given time.

Sabryn and Kurt did not have a lot of chemistry or a lot of time to actually work through their problems with each other.

Sabryn is an interesting character but Kurt is very boring.

The back and forth of whether or not Sabryn was the Sky Pillar was annoying. She was, she wasn’t, she was, she wasn’t again.

Edie is a pain in the ass and has no real motivation. I was happy to see Luke Ryan finally make an appearance though at first I completely forgot who he even was. I feel like this was a set up for him and Emily to start something.

George’s defeat was very unsatisfying.

It’s starting to feel like there is no progress for the heroes. While they win small battles they don’t actually make any progress with their enemies and it seems it might all come down to Kirsi.

I am looking forward to seeing what is going to happen to Finn and now I’m worried for Eilish.

So much drama in this next installment of the Skye Druids. This one is a hard hitting angsty read with so many surprises.

Sabryn feels like she’s been betrayed.

I was going to say there’s no dredging up the past when it seems to walk beside you at all times.”

Kurt came to Skye to protect the woman he loves but evil is following him. The elusive member of the Knights is finally revealed.

“For eternity. You are my heart. My very soul. I will be by your side for however long you’ll have me.”

I love this series and this one is no exception. I can’t wait for more and that shocking ending just has me wanting it right now.

AFTER MIDNIGHT is the seventh instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult SKYE DRUIDS paranormal, romance series, set in the author’s numerous interconnected series. This is Knight / Druid Kurt ‘Saber” Barclay and Druid/Knight Sabryn Beaumont’s story line. AFTER MIDNIGHT should not be read as a stand alone as each successive instalment builds upon the previous stories. I also recommend reading DARK ALPHA’S COMMAND (Reaper 15) for back story and cohesion. Several characters from the author’s other series including Reaper Balladyn and Druid Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command) appear as secondary characters.

SOME BACKGROUND: Months earlier, betrayal and vengeance forced a take-over of power on the Isle of Skye but someone or something is killing the Druids, not only on the Isle of Skye, but around the world including Edinburgh Scotland. With the focus on the death of the Druids on the Isle of Skye, Balladyn and Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command /Reaper 15) begin an investigation that reveals a danger targeting the Druids on the Isle of Skye.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Kurt and Sabryn, using present day and memories from the past, AFTER MIDNIGHT follows several intersecting paths including a fight for power and control between the London Druids, and Druids of the Isle of Skye. There is more than one group taking aim at the Skye Druids but not necessarily all for the same reasons. Someone wants revenge for betrayal, while the other demands submission in an effort to control. The London Druids are desperate to enlist the Skye Druids and their descendants into their organization but the Druids of Skye are willing to die before turning against the people they love. As the Skye Druids fight for their lives, Kurt finds himself caught between his love for our story line heroine, and the reality of his own betrayal years before.

The world building is complex, elaborate and multi-layered such that some previous knowledge of the series is highly recommended. The story line bounces between locations, events, characters and ongoing threats, with the mention of previous betrayals and double dealings, in the fight for control, enemies both alive and dead, as well as the various forms of evil that never ends.

The relationship between Kurt and Sabryn is one of second chances. A betrayal, lies and the divulging of the truth set Sabryn and Kurt on a path of discovery, a path in which one of the other may not survive but is Sabryn is unable to forgive our story line hero, there may be no future for anyone on Skye. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and test.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, magical and often questionable secondary and supporting characters: Carlyle and Devon (Song) , Elodie and Scott, Rhona and Reaper Balladyn; Krisi, Callum, and Finn, Elias and Bronwyn, Willa and Jasper ,Ferne and Theo, Filip , Sabryn’s brother Parker; their controlling and demanding mother Diana; former Skye Druid Edie, and Druid Georgiana, with the mention of the Ancients, the Dragon Kings, the Macleod Druids, the Edinburgh Druids, and London Druids, and the Fae. The requisite evil has many faces including the wind, the Mist, The Grey, and the shadows.

AFTER MIDNIGHT is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, magic and mayhem, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is detailed, complicated and thorough; the romance is seductive; the characters are desperate, determined, dynamic and energetic.

After Midnight is the seventh book in the Skye Druids series—and it’s finally Sabryn and Saber’s story. For years, Sabryn has had no idea that the Knights’ elusive white-hat hacker, Sabertooth (aka Saber, aka Kurt Barclay), was the same man she once loved and lost. Saber has stayed hidden, working incognito as the Knights’ IT mastermind, because he knew Sabryn would never willingly partner with him again. But when his brother Parker, a London Druid, is sent to drag him back into the fold, Kurt is forced to step out of the shadows—revealing his identity not only to Sabryn, but to the Knights and the Skye Druids as well. What their mother Diana doesn’t anticipate is Parker’s festering jealousy of Kurt, and how quickly the Edinburgh Druids and Edie will exploit it for their own ambitions.

Six years earlier, Kurt and Sabryn’s story began. Sent by the London Druids to Washington, DC, Kurt and Parker were tasked with persuading Sabryn and her father, a U.S. Senator, to ally with them. Her family, with roots in Skye, carried a dormant magical lineage that only manifested in the women. Kurt and Sabryn connected instantly and fell deeply in love. But when her father was killed in a suspicious car accident—an act Kurt suspected the London Druids had orchestrated—he struck a deal with Diana: leave Sabryn alone, and he would disappear from her life. That bargain technically shattered the moment Kurt joined the Knights, and now Diana wants him back with the London Druids.

As Kurt and Sabryn reunite, they must navigate years of heartbreak and betrayal while fending off enemies on all sides: London, Edinburgh, and Edie, who schemes to destroy the Air Pillar. Meanwhile, Georgiana, leader of the Edinburgh Druids, continues her obsession with Elias, blind to the betrayal brewing within her own ranks—where Parker and Edie are forging a dangerous alliance.

Fast-paced and layered with romance, betrayal, redemption, and loss, After Midnight begins with a chase and unfolds into a story of anchors found, loyalties tested, and losses endured. While it can be read as a standalone, you’ll miss key parts of the backstory without the earlier books—especially Book 6 (Blood Skye). I’m already counting the days until Kiss the Skye! Well done Donna Grant!

Love and War on Skye

WOW! Just WOW!

AFTER MIDNIGHT, Skye Druids book #7, held me captivated and mesmerized. It was a thrilling, action-filled, emotional story which was a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. Danger hides around every corner showing itself when it is least expected, ensuring a gripping story which had me constantly on the edge of my seat. This is Saber and Sabryn's story, and it was one of betrayal, heartache, loyalty, and love.

Five years of living in the shadows working as a white hat hacker and keeping his identity a secret have finally caught up with Kurt Barclay. After being hunted by his brother Parker, Kurt heads to Skye where his secrets will be revealed and where he'll come face to face with the woman's whose heart he shattered, Sabryn Beaumont. Their reunion is filled with heartache, tears, anger, and feelings of betrayal, but Kurt is determined to prove himself to Sabryn, show her he never stopped loving her. Sabryn is a member of the Knights, a fighter for good, but there's something special about her ... she has a connection to the wind. Will she be able to forgive Kurt and move on from the past?

The Druids of Skye remain under constant threat, enemies are becoming stronger, the battles more ferocious, and just when they think they are getting ahead of the evil that lurks they find themselves two steps behind. Donna Grant brings everything to this story: tension, magic, betrayal, understanding, guilt, inner strength, and love. Questions have been answered, yet so many mysteries remain unsolved. I can't wait to see what Donna has in store in her next installment, Kiss the Skye .

AFTER MIDNIGHT was another intriguing, magical, and spellbinding read.

The Knights strength is tested again

This is the seventh book in Donna Grant’s Skye Druid series. In this installment, we finally learn more about Sabertooth, the white hat hacker member of The Knights, aka Kurt Barclay. Kurt has been in love with Sabryn Beaumont since they met in Washington years ago. Unfortunately, Sabryn feels betrayed by Kurt and would never forgive him, so he adopted the persona of Sabertooth so could still be “close” to Sabryn and help her any way he could. He basically cut ties with his family, who are part of the London Druids, but when his brother is headed to Skye, Kurt follows him because he knows he is going after Sabryn.
Upon learning that Saber is actually Kurt, Sabryn is having a hard time deciding what this means for The Knights. As always, the evil that has been attacking the Druids of Skye has found another way to torment our main characters. Sabryn has to overcome her hurt and anger towards Kurt to be able to help the Knights and the Skye Druids. She needs to be able to trust him, and herself, to allow her magic to come to its full potential. If Sabryn & Kurt don’t find their way back to each other, Edie, Georgie, the Edinburgh & London Druids might all get the upper hand.
I had long wanted to learn what the story behind Saber was, but to learn his history with Sabryn, and their shared love, made it so much better. This book really advanced the overall plot of the Skye Druid series, but I still can’t imagine how it ends. I am eagerly anticipating the next installment to find out who our story will revolve around next & where Donna Grant is taking us on this journey.

This is book 7 in the Skye Druid series. In this installment, we get to read about Kurt and Sabryn and their second chance at love and happiness. Kurt, who has been a part of the Knights, as their tech expert, was known as Sabertooth. Kurt, has just found out Sabryn and the Knights has a powerful enemy heading to Skye, but before he is able to warn them, he must first reveal his secret. Sabryn, is an American that lost her father, due to a horrible accident, moved to Skye and discovers she is also a powerful Druid and uses her gifts to help fight the ongoing evil attacking Skye. Although, Sabryn is aware of the multiple threats to Skye. She is struggle with her feelings toward Kurt, due to their shared history and his betrayal. Putting her personal feelings aside, she decides to meet with Kurt in a private location to hear him out and try to resolved their issues. Unfortunately, things do not go as planned. The two were attacked and trapped in the home, by Edie’s powerful force, which left them all alone, with no way to communicate to the Knights for assistance. Wow…with threats coming from Edie, the London and Edinburgh Druids, the Knight, Rhona and Balladyn really has their hands full. Once again DG takes us on an amazing roller-coaster ride. Secrets are revealed, Betrayals are discovered and Romance is found, once age. The is a page turner that will keep you reading from beginning to end. If you are looking for your next PNR to sink your teeth into, I highly recommend this book. It can read as a standalone, but I suggest to start at the beginning of the series, for a better understanding of the storyline and its characters.

Reading Donna Grant’s Dark Universe is like falling into your favorite long-running TV drama: you know the formula, you think you’re prepared, and yet every episode leaves you breathless, yelling at the screen, and plotting how to survive until the next one drops. After Midnight is no exception.

This time, Sabryn and Kurt step into the spotlight, and let me tell you—between the epic battles of good versus evil, the swoony romance that hits like a high-voltage current, and the family drama that could outdo any soap opera, you’ll barely catch your breath. Add in the jaw-dropping twists (yes, the “did that just happen?!” kind), villains so vile they redefine dishonor, and a supporting cast that could rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for chaos you can’t put down.

Grant’s storytelling is fast, layered, and ruthless in the best way: she hands you romance, betrayal, redemption, and loss like a four-course meal, then snatches the dessert plate away with a cliffhanger that leaves you begging for more. And let’s be real—by book seven in this branch of the Universe, and 92 or something in total, the character list is so sprawling you practically need a family tree taped to the wall. (Confession: I do.) But that’s the beauty of it—you’re not just reading a book, you’re living inside an ever-expanding, gloriously dysfunctional universe.

So here I am, perched at the edge of my seat, popcorn in hand, impatiently waiting for what comes next. Ms. Grant, the floor is yours—don’t keep us waiting too long.

After Midnight is the seventh book of the Skye Druids series by Donna Grant. This installment, like the past several, was fraught with danger, emotions, and villains galore.
Kurt, known to the Knights as the hacker, Saber, comes from a powerful family of Druids. He and Sabryn fell in love seven years ago, but they were forced apart and he disappeared. Little did Sabryn know that Saber was the man who broke her heart so long ago, but Saber contented himself by knowing he was helping to keep Sabryn and the other Skye druids safe. Until he wasn’t. When the world literally exploded around him, he knew it was time for his reckoning and headed to Skye. After his identity is revealed, will Sabryn be able to forgive the man who shattered her hurt and learn to trust him again? Will our druids vanquish the ever-multiplying villains? No spoilers, but if you’re familiar with Grant’s work, you know the answer.
I think I need a reference guide to keep track of this cast of characters; both good and evil for the next installment, which I’m eagerly awaiting.(Kiss of Skye) I recommend reading the other books in the series first for maximum clarity and enjoyment. I look forward to the time when the evil attacking Skye is finally vanished and our heroes and heroines can enjoy some much needed time to enjoy each other and the beautiful isle.
This was an intense roller-coaster of a tale and even though the romance aspects were brief and minimal, their story was an incredible one.

I was so happy when we got to the Sabryn/Saber(Kurt) book! Sabryn has been the steadfast leader of the Knights, always putting everyone else before herself and Kurt has been much the same. These two are a great match and we also finally get to learn what wounded her so badly.

When we last saw Kurt he was extremely sleep deprived and on the run. When he sees that his brother is the one chasing him, he makes the decision we all hoped for - he heads to Skye. With his brother in pursuit, he assumes his mother has ordered him to bring him back to the fold. When he arrives on the doorstep of the manor, he is obviously not so easily welcomed. It’s through this that we learn about how deeply he wounded Sabryn.

Aside from this storyline, we’ve got a lot of evil still roaming around the isle. With Kurt’s brother about, we find out that we still have the presumed dead sister of our crew mucking about. Also, that weird world that is haunting several members of the team is still up to no good, trying to push into this world. We’ve got attacks on almost all fronts now, stretching even the most powerful of their group to their breaking points. We get some resolution in this book, but don’t hope for all the loose ends to be tied up here. There are pieces still moving around into position, but I can’t even begin to guess how this newly minted fully in-person group of Knights will be challenged next.

Finally we get to see behind the digital curtain and learn who Saber is! He's been hiding his true identity from everyone, even those he calls his friends but why all the secrecy?

Sabryn and Kurt’s relationship zoomed from first meeting, instalust, to heartbreak in a short time but just because it happened quickly doesn't mean it hurt any less. Sabryn has lost a lot in the intervening years and when she learns of the machinations behind her and Kurt's relationship she basically freefalls and crashes into heartbreak once again. At least this time she has her fellow knights to pick up the pieces. Kurt has missed Sabryn every day they have been apart but he had to be callous to keep her safe. But can he show her that he's not the same person he was, that he has grown up as well as grown a conscious?

There's actually very little "them time" in the storyline, there is action and enemies coming at them thick and fast. Their chemistry is still as hot as it ever was, there's just more honesty between them now. Sabryn doesn't just instantly forgive Kurt and she does some soul searching of her own before she can finally see her way past the hurt.

As the storyline progresses I'm just saddened by how far Edie seems to have fallen and one particular scene really made me seethe and I wanted to reach into the book and strangle her myself!

Now to wait for our next adventure!

After Midnight is the next novel in the Skye Druids series. It is also a branch in the Dragon Kings world. I say this because although it can be a stand alone novel, it is rich in previous events, and you might feel a little lost by the references and memories of the characters. You will not regret going back to Iron Ember, the first Skye Druid book, before continuing on with After Midnight!

Kurt has loved Sabryn forever it seems. He was forced to give her up by evil forces, so he found the only way he could to protect her and love her in secret. Now he must come out of hiding to save her and her allies from relentless dangers attacking from all sides.

The action is rising higher with each book, and I admit sometimes I get fuzzy on past events, so I will be looking forward to going back when the final book comes out to be able to devour them all again. There is a loss in the book that saddens because we get a glimpse into the character's heart just as they are killed. Donna doesn't do that often, so I will forgive her this time!

I will also say that Sabryn's anger at Kurt lasted too far into the book, and so left little time for the reconciliation scenes and growth of reconnected love, but the series rising action made up for the lack.

I am, as always, so looking forward to the next Skye Druid book!!

What a roller coaster ride!! It starts with Kurt being chased down by his brother Parker. Both of them end up on Skye. Kurt now has to reveal himself to the Knights, which includes proving himself to Sabryn. All this while dealing with Edie's evil shenanigans; with Parker who is determined to kill Kurt; and with Sabryn who must find her internal strength for the upcoming battle.

George, Thomas, Diana, and The Grey add to the chaos. With new and ever increasingly malevolent characters and situations, the tension keeps building in this fast-paced novel. There is so much that yet remains unresolved. The Epilogue introduces two new characters and hints at what to expect in the next book, whether it's Finn's dealing with the after-effects of having been attacked; Callum comforting Kirsi; what's happening with the Edinburgh Druids; or the news report exposing the Druid community on Skye. Donna Grant keeps upping the ante for the Skye Druids as they continue to battle the many manifestations of evil. A fantastic read!!! Eagerly awaiting the next book in this series, Kiss of Skye, to find out what happens next.

Thank you to NetGalley and DL Grant, LLC for the opportunity to read a free ARC of After Midnight in exchange for an honest review.

Just Keeps Getting Better!
The Knights never knew that the hacker of their team, Sabertooth was actually Kurt Barclay. Kurt and Sabryn were at one time a couple and in love but that ended with Sabryn feeling hurt and betrayed but even she didn’t know the whole story behind what happened. Kurt’s is being hunted by his brother Parker who he believes is doing his mother’s bidding to bring him back to the London Druids. He is unable to hide anymore and felt, in order to protect Sabryn from his brother, he had to reveal himself to the other Knights to let them know what is going on. It is very tense with all of them and Kurt wants to tell Sabryn what happened but she will not listen to him. It takes a while after she knows along with a little help from the Ancients before she can come to terms with it. But with the Skye Druids facing evil all around them, between the London and Edinburgh Druids, Edie, and Parker, they are being spread thin in their ability to fighting back and it this battle rests in the hand of Kurt and Sabryn. I did NOT see that twist with Georgie coming. It was shocking and I am curious to see what happens next. I don’t know how Donna Grant comes up with these wonderful plots. She’s amazing and I love her stories.

I was so excited to find out the main characters in this book. The Knights leader Sabryn finally gets her story, and we find out everything important about who Sabertooth, the hacker and fifth member of the Knights, really is.

Things on Skye continue to get worse as what appears to be three different evil factions fight for dominance over it. With danger everywhere it is hard for Rhona and her mate Balladyn, and the other good Skye Druids assisted by the Knights to keep it safe from evil.

This book brings into play the scenario of some of the bad guys joining forces to take out or distract the good guys. It is a very fast paced read and the reader will need to pay close attention to not lose the important facts that are revealed throughout the plot.

Author Donna Grant sets up the next possible book for the readers and I wonder if it will be the long awaited Kirsi and Callum story or Finn.
This well written storyline deals with betrayal between lovers and family as well as the ability to forgive.

I give it 5 stars for the robust storyline and love story.

I got an advance copy of "After Midnight" by Donna Grant for an honest review. This is the seventh book in the Sky Druid series. In this installment, the identity of Sabertooth is finally revealed, both to the readers and to his fellow Knights. Kurt Barclay has been concealing his true self behind his hacker alias, Sabertooth. For the past six years, he’s been watching over Sabryn and the Knights from a distance, but now his brother is after him, and he can’t stay safe behind his computer any longer.

The Knights are facing overwhelming odds, with incident after incident leading to injuries caused by evil forces. During two intense fights—one between Kurt and his brother Parker, and another involving Parker and their mother—I found myself pausing to wonder: who brings a knife to a magical battle? While I wasn't particularly fond of their mother, I did feel sympathy for her fate in the story.

Overall, the book is packed with action, showcasing the classic struggle of good versus evil, and it explores one man's journey toward redemption from his past.

After Midnight is another gripping addition to Donna Grant’s Skye Druids series, brimming with tension, betrayal, and heart-pounding action. Grant masterfully weaves together the fates of the Knights and Skye Druids as shocking truths come to light. Sabryn’s pain at Kurt’s betrayal cuts deep, especially as his hidden identity as Saber is revealed. When Patrick arrives with his own dark mission, the stakes climb even higher. The supposed trap by the Skye Druids instead becomes Patrick’s snare, leaving Sabryn and Kurt reeling. The shocking return of Edie, thought to be lost, adds another twist, aligning herself with forces determined to destroy them all. Grant’s writing is fast-paced, pulling readers into a world where danger lurks in every shadow. Fans of the series will be eagerly turning pages as the London and Edinburgh druids close in and time runs out for the Knights and Skye Druids.

I think this installment of the Skye Druid series is my favorite.
Kurt & Sabryn have so much history between them and its not all good. Kurt knows the only way to make things right with the only woman he's ever loved is to do it face to face.
Sabryn thought Kurt was out of her life for good and she wasn't happy about it, but she was settled. Then out of nowhere the man falls back into her world, but can she ever find it in her heart to forgive the betrayal?
We also get to see Edie and all her crazy and its so so good!
There's a lot going on in this story, but I didn't feel lost at all. I love the way Donna Grant writes.
And we get a glimpse of the Ancients! Had no idea that was going to happen.
The bad just keeps getting bigger and bigger. The knights are giving it all they have but each battle takes a little more out of them.
I just can't with this one. It was just so freaking good!

Betrayal of the heart is hard to accept. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Sabryn's loss years ago inspired her to create a team of druids designed to protect other druids. Specifically, they named themselves the Knights. As the ring leader, she came to know each and every one of them personally. Some more than others, but there was only one she has not met face to face, Saber. The uber hacker and tech support for the Knights, Saber has always remained in the shadows. Now that Saber is targeted, they need to come clean and reveal their past. This is a like a dagger into Saber's heart, all over again.

The next chapter in this intricately woven series adds danger, menace and a couple of new twists. The continuing battle is getting more difficult as their enemies increase in number and draw closer to home. As always, winding through the story tare the strong bonds of friendship, of found family and of love.

It never ceases to amaze me how each story in this series offers new surprises. Each is fresh and engrossing. As situations unfurl, there are new problems and dangers subtly weaving their way into the fabric of the story, yet the characters remain consistent as they continue to grow. As the characters become familiar I can almost feel the bonds they share extending from the page and including me as one of them.

Be aware, this series is best read in order to understand the intricacies of the world the author has built and each characters' special abilities. Take the time to start the series from the beginning; you'll be happy you did.

We are back on the beautiful Isle of Skye for Donna Grant’s newest edge of your seat Skye Druids novel After Midnight.

It’s no secret that I find Donna Grant‘s world building top notch. She is able to create worlds in which you can close your eyes and completely picture and while reading allow yourself to become completely lost in. After Midnight we discover Sabryn and Kurt have a past. He broke her heart. The experience went completely wrong for both of them. Neither one has completely lost the feelings for one another but yet they still stay angry because of what happened. We have a story embedded with lies and deception, heartbreak and yearning, and finding a way back to love.

As I have said, this is truly a fast-paced story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A paranormal romance that’s filled with Donna Grant’s take on magic and lore. After Midnight is a fantastic edition to this magical series.

Sabre and Sabryn, can true love overcome secrets and deception? So find your comfy chair, tuck your feet up, and dive into After Midnight (Skye Druids). This novel's conflict revolves around the London Druids, who seek to consolidate all power and are targeting those in Skye who hold the true Druid power base. But first things first. Can Sabryn, who first fell for Kurt in DC, not know he was sent to seduce her into the London Druids? Now she finds out that her Knights have been working with him as Sabre, the computer hacker, for six years as an integral part of their team. So we must rebuild trust, rekindle love, defeat the bad guys, and win the battle against pure evil all in a few hundred pages. Tall order, but the plot twists and turns make this a real page turner as we discover if Kurt and Sabryn can have a happy ever after!

I've been an avid reader of Ms. Grant’s works since her very first book, and each one has captivated me in a unique way. Her interconnected series showcase her incredible talent for weaving characters from one story into another seamlessly. In this latest installment, we finally unravel the mystery of Saber, and I was ecstatic to see the dynamic between Saber (Kurt) and Sabryn brought to life. Their story was highly anticipated, and it truly surpassed all of my expectations.

This book unveils significant revelations that lead to even greater mysteries waiting to be uncovered. Their love story is so passionate and compelling that it’s sure to give readers heart palpitations. The thrilling action sequences featuring the remarkable Skye druid family are nothing short of exhilarating. This book is an emotional journey that you simply cannot afford to miss!

I was thrilled to finally get Sabryn’s story—she’s the Knights’ leader, and in this book we also learn the truth about Sabertooth, the mysterious fifth member.
Skye is more dangerous than ever, with multiple evil factions fighting for control. Rhona, Balladyn, the Skye Druids, and the Knights struggle to keep the darkness at bay, but betrayal and shifting alliances make everything even harder.
The pace is quick, full of twists, and you really have to stay alert because Donna Grant slips in a lot of important details along the way. The story also deals beautifully with love, betrayal, and forgiveness.
The ending sets things up for what could be the next book—I’m secretly hoping for Kirsi and Callum, or maybe Finn. Either way, I can’t wait.
5 stars from me—for the gripping plot and the love story.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntary.

Kurt, aka Saber, comes to Skye to warn the Knights that his brother is there. Having hidden his identity for years, Kurt finally has the chance to meet the rest of the group in person. Of course, one person knows him very well. Sabryn. They had a budding relationship in DC years ago, until his secrets and his brother's treachery ruined it all. Sabryn doesn't know why Kurt deserted her just when she needed him most, but their reunion is anything but joyous. As things on the island continue to deteriorate, Sabryn learns that forgiving Kurt may be the only way the Skye Druids will ever win.

Lots happens in this one, but still no revelations about the evil they are fighting. Evie is still in its hold and the group hesitates to end her without knowing how to stop the real enemy. Stay tuned.
