The Batchelor’s Bachelorette is the twenty-third novel in The Mercy and Justice Mysteries, a contemporary small town mystery series. The series is a sequel to The Father Tom Mysteries that began with The Penitent Priest and includes the same cast of characters. It features Father Tom Greer, a Catholic Priest who is also an amateur sleuth in the tradition of Father Brown, and his wife Helen Greer, female Chief of Police and detective in the tradition of Kinsey Millhone.
J.R. and Susan Mathis never disappoint and the latest installment in their series is proof of this. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

This was an unputdownable Father Tom mystery. Father Tom Greer and his wife, Helen, join soon to be bride and groom, Heather and Dominic, along with their families, at a retreat in South Carolina. From the start, Heather's mother, Celia, makes it clear that she dislikes the idea of her daughter marrying Dominic, who, among her other objections, is a Catholic. Things take another bad turn when one of the resort's employees, Bruce, (who Heather and her family happen to know), is found beaten to death on the course at the golf club. Can Father Tom help determine who killed Bruce and why? Find out the answers to these questions by reading this intriguing book, which I highly recommend to other mystery readers. Wasn’t expecting the religious/traditionalist undertones in this book. 2 stars because I was still able to finish it and the writing was still quite consistent
