Blood is the first book in The Trish Vampire Series by K.T. Rose. I was drawn in by the cover. This dark tale hooked me from the beginning. It is a supernatural horror tale of struggles, desires, and instinct being in constant battle.

The author did pull it together, but there were moments when we either had too much dialogue or I felt like the narrative was being rushed; so, it was a battle for me to rate. Don’t get me wrong, the story was engaging and I did enjoy the story, but I wanted to love it; there is so much potential in this author's work - I liked the premise, and the writing style.

Trish is a mum and a vampire, a mother and an ancient monster living in suburbia, hiding her true self. But one night is all it takes for it all to unravel.

Blood is a convincing, quick, tension-filled dark horror

I look forward to seeing what the second book brings.

Blood by K.T. Rose was a dark, fast-paced read that totally pulled me in. I love a good vampire story, and this one had a fresh twist with Trish—a suburban mom hiding a deadly secret. The way she balanced her family life with her violent urges made for a really intense and emotional ride.

The suspense kept me turning pages, and I liked how the story explored her inner conflict without slowing down the action. It was gritty, eerie, and full of tension. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more in this series and seeing where Trish’s story goes next.

Trish is a vampire with an impressive body count, and one that keeps rising. But she is also a loving wife and a new mother. When one particular killing spree leaves an eyewitness, and Trish’s choice of new victim leads to unforeseen issues, Trish finds herself desperately trying to keep both her family and her secret monstrous identity safe.

I will preface this by saying that I am not a big fan of vampire books, and I feel this definitely coloured my reading experience, as this just wasn’t for me. I feel that I may have perhaps found this creepier and more horrific if Trish hadn’t been a vampire, and was simply grappling with her ever-growing compulsions to kill people, whilst balancing family life and having a new baby. I felt these elements were interesting and horrific enough without the added element of her being a vampire and all the fantastical elements that go with it. That being said, Rose’s writing was engaging and descriptive, and I felt that she set a chilling scene well. The beginning had me hooked. What a scene to start with!
Trish as a whole was an interesting character; however, I did feel there were moments when she made questionable choices, especially given that she is supposed to be an experienced killer. I also felt that perhaps there could have been more scenes where Trish’s vampiric nature got a little bit problematic in her home life, and how she managed to control this. However, this is a series, so I imagine that this may be something that is explored later on
I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good supernatural horror that is more about chills than outright gore, and that asks some pretty interesting questions about what it means to be a monster, and the things we do to keep the monstrous sides of ourselves hidden.

I don’t even know where to start with this one. Blood completely caught me off guard. I expected a gritty, fast-paced horror story, but what I got was something much darker, more layered, and surprisingly emotional. K.T. Rose has a way of pulling you into a world where fear isn’t just about the monsters—it’s about the people, the choices, and the violence simmering beneath the surface.

From the opening chapters, the book has this heavy, foreboding atmosphere that made me feel like anything could go wrong at any second. It’s not nonstop action; instead, it builds slowly and deliberately, letting the dread seep in around the edges. That slow burn works so well here. You’re constantly bracing yourself as the characters get tangled deeper into the chaos.

The characters themselves felt painfully real—flawed, anxious, angry, trying to survive in a world that keeps demanding more from them than they have left to give. I found myself understanding their fear and frustration, even when their decisions were messy. Rose taps into the human side of horror, showing how trauma and desperation twist people in different ways.

I’ll be honest, some scenes are intense—emotionally and viscerally. There were moments I had to stop for a breath because the violence and tension hit hard. But those moments never felt gratuitous; they felt like part of the world’s raw, unforgiving truth. And because this is the start of a series, there are threads left open, but instead of feeling unfinished, it just made me want to see where everything leads.

Overall, Blood is unsettling, atmospheric, and surprisingly thoughtful. It digs into the darker corners of human nature while still giving you characters you want to root for. If you enjoy horror that’s gritty, emotional, and grounded in real, messy humanity, this one is absolutely worth picking up. 4/5

Thank you so much to BookSirens for connecting me with this ARC. Below is my honest voluntary review:

Blood by K.T. Rose is the first in the Trish series and definitely makes a splash in the vampire genre. You follow Trish, a vampire who after many lost loves, has settled into a normal life with her husband Randel and their son Darwin. Trish is at her wits end after not feeding for two months, which leads her to one of the worst nights of her life.

This story was gripping and for a majority kept a fast pace. There were certain sections that felt dragged on or something I think the book could’ve done without. For example, the standoff between Trish and Barbie could’ve been shaved down while still portraying the tension between those two characters in that moment.

Steve was not a formed enough character for me to genuinely find a reason to care about him as a villain. Yes, he did have a connection to Victoria, but I think that was the only reason he was brought into the story to begin with. Hopefully, within the second book the author can give me a little more into why I should worry about Steve outside of his tracking ability.

Other than Steve, the characters while in their beginning stages are likable and you find yourself rooting for Trish very early on despite what’s going on around her. Her backstory is intriguing and entertaining to learn as the story unfolds in real time. It makes you want to know more about her and sometimes you’re torn between staying in the present or learning about her past.

Hunger. Desperation. Terror. A mother's love knows no bounds— neither does her appetite.

Blood is the first book in the Trish Vampire Horror Series by K.T. Rose. This is a dark and suspenseful dive into a supernatural horror story, blending maternal instincts with a monstrous nature, but in a way that felt both chilling and yet still somewhat relatable. The story follows Trish, the seemingly perfect suburban mom who hides a deadly secret - she’s actually a century-old vampire and a seasoned killer. Her carefully constructed double life begins to unravel when a ‘hunt’ goes wrong, setting off a chain of events that threatens her family and her very existence.
Trish is a well-developed and complex character, torn between her predatory instincts and her fierce love for her family. The tension between these two sides of her personality creates a compelling internal struggle that definitely added an extra element of interest and depth to the tale.
While I did enjoy the story, there were parts that felt quite ‘wordy’, which slowed the flow and pulled me out of the story. I did have a little trouble connecting with the character/s, but I got there in the end. I felt that the ‘villain’ could have used a little more depth and development to make more of an ‘impact’. But, overall, ‘Blood’ is a thrilling start to what promises to be a great series.
Bring on Book #2.
Happy Reading…

This book offers an intriguing take on the vampire genre, especially with its unique concept of seasonal feeding—something I found refreshingly different and creatively done. The world building is thoughtful, and the darker tone adds an immersive edge to the story.
The main character has an interesting arc, and while she’s written as strong and capable, I sometimes found myself wishing her actions matched the level of power she was described as having. There were moments where I expected her supernatural strength to come through more clearly, especially during confrontations. Because of this, I occasionally found myself a bit pulled out of the story.
For me, the pacing felt slow in places, and the story took a little longer than I expected to build momentum. That said, readers who enjoy gradual suspense and atmospheric detail may appreciate that style.
Overall, I think there are some compelling ideas in this book, and I truly admire the originality of the vampire lore and the tone of the world. While it wasn’t a perfect fit for me personally, I can see it appealing to readers who enjoy slower, moodier paranormal fiction with a unique twist.

This book surprised me in the best way. Going in with only the basic description made the whole experience even more fun. The story moves between past and present so smoothly that it never feels confusing, and the main character is incredibly interesting.

Trish is such a cool character to follow. She is a suburban mom and a wife trying to live a normal life while also being a very old and very dangerous vampire. Once a month she needs to feed and becomes a creature of the night. She tries to hunt away from home but when her husband needs to go out of town, Trish is stuck hunting locally. Everything that can go wrong, does. She may be exposed for the monster that she is if she isn’t careful. Watching her world fall apart after one bad night was intense and kept me hooked.

There were a few spots where the dialogue dragged or the pacing felt a little rushed, but the overall idea and the atmosphere were so strong that I stayed invested. The tension, the horror, and the emotional struggle all work really well together.

It is a quick, dark, and gripping vampire read with a lot of potential for the rest of the series. I am definitely excited to see what happens next. The fact that it ends on a cliffhanger, made me immediately start reading book 2 in the series!

This is not your typical vampire book. I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into with this book but I tend to get excited over vampire books. I was just sure this was going to be a good read and I wasn't disappointed. Trish is the main vampire in this book and she somehow manages to have a family and be a vampire. Crazy right. Well she runs the PTA and does all these normal things but then she becomes a vampire that has a crazy huge body count at night. It was interesting to see her struggle with the day time Trish and the night time Trish. There were many different events that took me for surprise while reading this book. I felt like it was going one way and then there was a twist or turn and it went a completely different route. I love when a book isn't predictable. The book had me turning pages as fast as I could. The visuals that the author is able to bring forth with their words really paints a very graphic picture and centers around the horror of what a vampire actually is supposed to be. I found myself not wanting the book to end. I am glad that this is the first book in the series and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I think it must be very difficult to construct a vampire novel, we all have preconceived thoughts regarding them. I found the premise of the book fascinating and I liked back and forth of the time line intriguing. I wanted more detail of that.

The flow of the book disturbed me, it seemed to me that the FMC had terrible time management and no back up plan. She spent an inordinate amount of time talking/thinking when she should have been getting act together and getting on with it. She’s had many years perfecting her “craft” so it should have progressed a bit faster. However, I did enjoy the snarky banter in the novel and the personalities of the other characters were brief but impactful.

I also felt that perhaps some important details were left out, maybe to be expounded upon with the rest of the series. I hope so as it would add in my experience as a reader. I will definitely be looking for the continuation of the series.

I received an advanced copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Being an immortal vampire sounds like fun and games, until you have to hide it from your family. Trish has been alive for over a century, studying humans and all technological advances to learn how to elude getting caught. She knows to not push her luck and take too many chances, until one night she finds a rare victim with blood so pure and clean, she finds the risks worth taking. Until they weren’t. She needs to make it back home to her infant son. Will she survive the night?

I’m not usually one to read vampire books, but the premise of this one intrigued me as I’m also a mom. I couldn’t imagine having to go through what Trish deals with on a daily basis. Her husband cooking breakfast regularly has her stomach turning, sustaining her hunger pains with planned “yoga nights” with friends that don’t exist, dealing with every day mediocre human life such as over-the-top daycare teachers. I personally don’t think I could have dealt with having children if this was my reality, so props to Trish! This was a really good read and I’m excited to pick up the next one in the series as this one ends on a crazy cliffhanger!

Blood is the first book in the Trish Vampire Series and has some horror and serial killer vibes. This book is written in differing timelines, flicking back and forth between Trish's past and present. Trish is just your average, run of the mill, PTA mom....she is also a serial killer that has been murdering since the 1890s. Trish is a vampire, and a master of balancing her two lives; the suburban wife and mother, and the night huntress. That is, until her latest hunt threatens to expose her and cost her everything she has worked to build...and hide. I typically do not thoroughly enjoy vampires and the romanticism that surrounds them; I prefer raw horror and the vampires of blood and gore. This book did not disappoint and I was very drawn in to the story and the MC. There are some vivid and blood-filled scenes that are well written to be visual, but not to the point of being too much or written for shock value. This is my first read from this author and I am glad I stumbled upon her and will be reading the rest of this series to see where our MC takes us.

This is the first book in the Trish the Vampire series. I have to admit this was a very unique read and one I found myself really enjoying. Despite Trish being a vampire and a killer I felt connected with her in regards to her maternal side and her love for her son that knows no bounds. The author cleverly put those 2 parts of opposite characters into one person and it worked really well. I can't wait to read more.

Trish has a secret. To the outside world she is a perfect mother and wife living in a suburbia. However things aren't always what they seem. Trish hides a secret. A secret that not even her perfect husband knows. Trish is a vampire.
As much as she loves her life she also struggles with keeping the vampire side of herself in the shadows and controlling her need to feed. Trish is a seasoned killer however when a hunt goes wrong it threatens to turn Trish's world upside and destroy the very family she tries so hard to protect.
Will her secret be revealed? Will Trish's vampire needs be the cause of her losing everything she loves?

I absolutely adored this book for so many reasons. I’ll read any vampire book even though most of them follow the same general storyline. This one is unique though as it is about a seemingly perfect suburban mom who also happens to be a century-old killer, and I cannot stop thinking about it. Trish is the kind of character who’s packing snacks for the PTA one minute and stalking her next victim the next, and somehow the entire thing works so well. The way she balances playdates with predatory instincts is darkly hilarious in the best possible way. Things seriously heat up when a hunt goes sideways and suddenly she’s the one being hunted. Watching her fight to protect her carefully crafted life and her totally oblivious family had me flipping pages like a maniac. It’s twisty, tense, and surprisingly emotional for a story about a literal monster mom. I loved the mix of domestic chaos and supernatural danger, it almost feels like Dexter but with diaper bags. If you want something deliciously dark, fast-paced, and just a little unhinged, this one’s an absolute must-read.

This book was dark, tense, and completely absorbing. I loved the way it twisted the traditional vampire story into something both horrifying and emotional. Trish is such a fascinating character—one moment she’s a devoted wife and mother, and the next she’s a ruthless predator struggling to keep her family safe and her hunger under control. The duality made her feel human even as she did monstrous things.

The writing builds suspense beautifully, especially once everything starts unraveling after her latest hunt goes wrong. The moral conflict and constant tension kept me hooked, and I could feel the desperation in every decision Trish made. I also liked how the story balanced gore and psychology, showing how far she would go for her family while still reminding you she’s a creature of the night.

It’s creepy, tragic, and full of sharp twists that make you question who the real monster is. A solid, fast-paced vampire thriller that delivers both heart and horror in equal measure.

Blood (The Trish Vampire Series: A Vampire Horror Thriller Saga Book 1) by K. T. Rose. This is not my normal genre, Vampire Horror, but I truly loved this book. It's the story of Trish who is secretly a vampire and she has had several bad runs at relationships but she finally has settled down with her husband Randel and their son Darwin the only problem is they know nothing about her secret. To all Trish's friends and family she is the typical soccer mom with her kid doing all the normal things but the problem is she hasn't fed in over 2 months and she is dying. When she finally goes out to hunt she ends up making the worst mistake of her life and it can very well lead to the unraveling of her perfect life she has worked so hard for. This night she has made a mistake that she may not even make it back home. Will she survive the night and the possible fallout from this horrible night? Such a good vampire story.

A Dark, Immersive Thriller with a Killer Twist on Immortality
This book hooked me from the very first line. Trish is one of the most unsettling, fascinating serial-killer protagonists I’ve read in a while — a PTA mom who’s been perfecting murder since the 1890s? Absolutely chilling. The blend of domestic normalcy and centuries-old predation creates a tension that never really lets up.
I loved the atmosphere and the sharp, almost surgical writing style. The author does a great job balancing horror, suspense, and dark humor. The scenes at Miller University were especially gripping, and once the witness escapes, the story shifts into high gear.
If I have one critique, it’s that a few parts felt a bit rushed, especially in the final third, but the overall concept and execution kept me turning pages well past midnight.
A haunting, twisty ride perfect for fans of Dexter, Hannibal, and the darker corners of Anne Rice. Creepy in all the right ways — and definitely hard to forget.

I’ve always had a soft spot for vampire stories and I’ll read them in just about any form. Blood gave me what I was craving: dark vibes, family drama, and that eternal tug of war between monster and mother. Trish is one complicated vamp, and honestly? I liked her messy, torn between two worlds energy.

There were moments where things felt a little rushed, like I wanted more time to soak in the world before everything went sideways. The pacing had me flipping pages, but sometimes I just wanted to pause and feel it all more.

I loved the fresh twist of seeing a vampire juggling motherhood and secrecy. It’s not your typical fangs and forbidden romance setup. More blood, less brooding, which I appreciated.

A solid 3.5 for me. Dark, quick, and sharp with potential for the series to really sink its teeth in.

This was delightfully dark, twisted, and the perfect way to kick off spooky season! Talk about dropping you right into the action and pulling no punches. First, if you have a problem with blood (and I do mean blood) this is not the book for you. Rose paints a vivid image with her words, the taste, the smell, the feel, everything. You’ll quickly know if this is the kind of story you can get into. Trish is quite the interesting character. You wouldn’t think you’d be rooting for the serial killer, yet somehow, that’s exactly what you end up doing. She’s more than just a monster. She’s a wife, and a mom, and that leaves her in a much more complex place. I’m impressed with how sympathetic Rose makes her at times, and how callous she’s made to appear at others. The story had good pacing, and I was hooked from start to finish. I cannot wait for book two!

I enjoyed reading this suspenseful story. This is a newer author for me in which I enjoyed their creative details that made the characters come to life. I also enjoyed how the author was able to pull me into the story from the beginning. This is a story about how far you will go to protect those you love. On the outside Trish’s life looks to be perfect by day but by night she hunts bloody corpses. Things change when a hunt goes wrong. Now she is the one who is being hunted. I enjoyed Trish’s character and how strong she is. I enjoyed how supportive all the characters were to each other. I also enjoyed watching the growth of the plot throughout which made the story easy to read. I found this story to be fast paced, entertaining and hard to put down. This is a great story and one you don’t want to miss. I highly recommend this story.

I'm never sure what to think when I wonder out of my comfort zone and read something I wouldn't ordinarily read. Vampire, Werewolf, Witches....paranormal in general are always a grey area because I never know what I'm going to think and whether I'll like it until I get started. You meet Trish in this book; who by all rights, appears as a normal wife and mother. What she really is, is a very old vampire that's spent a long time juggling those two parts of her....until one day when she makes the wrong move and her newest victim...or hunt potentially exposes her and could end up costing her everything. The storytelling in itself was pretty good. Based on what we have been previously taught or read up about vampires, it seems like some plot holes here but for the most part, it was an enjoyable story and I'm kind of looking forward into diving into book 2.

I thoroughly enjoyed this unique coming-of-age story. Why is unique you ask? Well, we follow Trish and her continued growth into her vampirism. I loved how K.T. Rose takes us between the past and the present to give us insight into Trish and how she came to be what she is and how she is continuing to grow into what she is...a vampire. This is a really unique twist on a vampire story and I can't wait to get my hands on Book 2. I flew through this book...I couldn't put it down. You really feel for Trish, both in the present and in the past. And I love how Rose gives Trish empathy and she isn't just a cold-blooded killer. This book is so much more than the description and so much more than your typical vampire book. Definitely pick this up if you are looking for a new twist on a vampire read. Happy Reading!

Blood (The Trish Vampire Series #1) by K.T. Rose

5 out of 5 Stars

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. Blood is the first book in The Trish Vampire Series. I absolutely love this book. The writing will have you hooked from the first chapter to the last. I love vampire books, but this one tops the cake.

Trish is a vampire by night and human mom and wife by day. The last kill she does doesn’t end well. She finally makes it home to find that her son and babysitter are safe. But will that last? Trish will do everything to protect her family and she doesn’t want anything to happen to them. Her husband is out of town and has no clue any of this is going down. She tells her hunter this: “Look, I don’t know what she told you, but she’s lying. I’m not a vampire. I’m just an escort looking for my way out of this shithole.”

Blood By K.T. Rose is the first book in the Trish Vampire Series, and let me tell you…this book is simply WOW. This vampire thriller will take you for one heck of a ride. Trish, by day is the PTA mom, a wife, and by night, she is the killer that leaves nothing behind. She has been keeping her secret for so long, but when the newest hunt, leaves someone alive, her life begins to unravel. Trish must keep herself and her secrets safe….she will do anything to keep her son and husband safe.
THIS BOOK, WOW. You are given a book filled with blood, secrets, motherhood, and vampires all in one. Trish is truly a character that draws you into the book. The darkness, the blood, the visuals as you read, gives this book that horror, that thrill. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next books in this series, I AM HOOKED! If I was able, I would give this read more then 5 stars.

Blood by K. T. Rose is the first book in The Trish Vampire Series and the first book I have read by this author. I was pulled in quickly by the dark horror of the story and the unique take on the often repetitive nature of the vampire novel. Trish is a loving wife and devoted mother; she's also hiding a killer secret! Following the birth of her son, Trish starts having a difficult time balancing her double life and secrets. While the world-building is vivid and the characters are realistically flawed, believable, and lovable, I felt that some of the story was rushed and other parts were very lengthy and drawn out. I sometimes got distracted from the story. Despite the lengthy parts, this book is still captivating and exciting to read. The book has plenty to draw the reader in: vampires, secrets, love, tension, and plenty of…blood. I cannot wait to read the next book by K. T. Rose.

What? Over already, bring on book 2. First book I have read by K.T. Rose, and I will be reading more, starting with book two of this series, Monster. I must know what happens next. Vampire books always pull me in, but this one was so much more than the surface level of a vampire. This one sinks its teeth into you and pulls you in. Unique story of a vampire that is a mother by day and everything wicked at night. Trish struggles finding balance and nothing is predictable in this one. The moment I thought I had figured it out or assumed it had to play out one way it completely shifted and surprised me.
It may be December, but any time is a good time for a little vampire horror, and this series will hit the mark from start to finish. No spoilers from me but I’m off to see what Trish will do next in book two. See you there.

This is a chilling and suspenseful vampire horror thriller that explores the dark overlap of maternal instinct and monstrous nature. This story introduces Trish, a woman who has masterfully created a facade of suburban perfection—loving wife, devoted mother—while secretly being an ancient predator who hunts and kills with methodical precision. This story is both dark and gripping, focusing on the suspense that mounts when Trish's carefully constructed world begins to crumble after a hunting mistake leaves a witness. Rose excels at building a palpable atmosphere of dread, the visceral horror of Trish's interior conflict, and the realistic, gritty consequences of her actions. It's a gripping, fast-paced read that explores how far a mother will go to protect her family, even if it means confronting the monster she sees in the mirror.

The book was very intriguing and had me hooked from the first chapter. I really enjoyed its exploration of the mother versus monster nature, it was very thoroughly and thoughtfully done! I loved the details that took our understanding of what it would be like to be a modern-day vampire beyond the mainstream, which I thought was phenomenal and very creative. Personally, I enjoy books that are medium-paced and I would've liked for the plot to have been explored more in book one and for the story to have moved along a bit quicker, it felt a bit unfinished. But I enjoyed reading it and would love to read book 2! I was right there with Trish, experiencing what she did and feeling what she did. Reading this book was a thrilling and exciting experience.

I found myself fascinated by Trish—on the surface, the perfect mom and wife, but secretly a centuries-old killer—and I couldn’t stop wondering how she managed to balance both lives. The tension between her daytime domesticity and nighttime hunts kept me on edge, and I felt a real thrill when her latest hunt went wrong, threatening to expose everything. I was torn between rooting for her survival and being horrified by her actions, which made the story feel so personal and intense. The way Rose explores family, love, and the cost of keeping secrets really made me reflect on what I’d do in Trish’s shoes. By the end, I was breathless, captivated, and a little obsessed with her dark, twisted world.

I enjoyed the different take on vampirism that K.T. Rose took with this novel. It was a bit short, but I do feel like it set up the next book very well while also answering most of the questions brought up throughout the storyline with flashbacks. It is worth it to note that the events throughout the story unfold over the course of a single day (for the most part, not including the prologue or the flashbacks included throughout) so that does also add some interesting context.
I feel like a lot of the questions I have and general unpolished-ness I feel the story had is more due to needing to set up the next installment in the novel. I look forward to seeing if my feeling is correct with book 2.
