To a small rabbit like Oakey, the big wide world seems to be a scary place. But with Mom holding his hand, he finds it can offer all sorts of exciting adventure.
I am going to use a word that I don't use very often.. Adorable! This book is adorable! Not just because there are cute bunnies in it, but that it is a sweet mother child story. What I don't understand is why the boy is wearing a sweater and mom is naked!? Curious! Adorable...I said it again! Someone help me!! :-)
Sorry, but this is a really sorry excuse for a kids' book. The author sort of half-heartedly tries to rhyme, but inconsistently and with no sense of rhythm. The repeating motif of being OK if holding Mum's hand is great for the age, but it would have been done so much better by Lynnley Dodd, Julia Donaldson, or my ten-year-old son.
Cute drawings in the style of colored pencils or some crayola. A timid little bunny is bravely ready to explore the world beyond his abode with the help of his mommy that leads him by the hand.
I read this in Rite Aid while waiting for my RX. It was very very similar to the other book I had read by her(Oakey's Perfect Day, but kids do like repetition. This book, like the other, was focused on a parent being there for the child. The writing wasn't really inspiring, not unique, powerful or fun and the message was common.
Great book bright and colorful illustration make this book a joy to look and read. The kids can count the rocks that Oakey is crossing. How wonderful exploring is went you are with some one you love.
Extencion: Plan a outing and have the parents come and spend time with the kids exploring and have them write everythink they see. Also have a picnik with them.
one of the most beautifully illustrated book...loved the hues. This is such a cute story of mom n oakey the cute rabbit...really touches your heart....yess I can say...mom if you hold my hand ...if you are there for me....I can cross any hurdle in my life. loads of love to mom
My favourite book as a kid. I even named my hamster after Oakey. I used to be able to pretty much recite the entire book. I remember being heartbroken when it fell apart.
