Flipping heck! What a ride! 🚂
Just had a quiet hour at Tell Tales and it gave me time to finish this brilliant book. This thrilling story has woven lots of historical facts, that have been meticulously researched, into an absolute stonker of a story! Fast paced, full of adventure & derring-do, an absolute must have for every year six classroom.

Edward Entwistle has a a chance encounter with George Stephenson in his little Lancashire village of Tyldsley. This leads to him being offered a job at Stephenson’s Steam Locomotive Manufactory. Teaming up with Prudence, the daughter of the woman who runs the boarding house where he is staying, they stumble upon something that could cause trouble at the upcoming Rainhill Trials where Stephenson’s Premium Engine (later to be called The Rocket) will be in the race to win the coveted contract to run on the new railway.
Such a great adventure story, based on events very close to home for me!

WOW this was a really interesting read. I loved getting all of the history and information around locomotives. It’s so weird how parts of my own city just popped up. A great story and I definitely didn’t solve the mystery as I went along. Fabulous!
