Trauma surgeon. Widower… 28 year old Samuel Lyon defined his life by these words alone. Five years had passed since the car accident that had stolen his wife and only child. Five years in which Sam simply survived but no longer lived. Black market art. International rings of thieves... Brevyn Steed’s world pulsed and thrummed with these. Chasing down stolen masterpieces around the globe defined this 28 year old’s very existence. He wanted for nothing more. But when the case of a stolen 19th century painting sets these two opposing men’s lives on the same course, Sam and Brevyn collide in a heart-stopping mystery in which their hearts slowly weave together and blazingly writhe. A romantic thriller from the author who brought you Forever Bound, Taken and the “Hellesgate” Series, Writhe is the story of an extraordinary love born of Fate and forged in passion.

DNF @ 41%. This had the beginnings of a solid story. The writing was a bit choppy, but not enough to put me off. I was actually being drawn in to the chemistry and blooming romance between the 2 MCs. There was some great UST. Perfect amount of mysteriousness from one of the MCs and the flirting, the banter.....

And we are THERE. We arrive at the point where they're finally alone and the UST reaches its peak.......end chapter.

WTF? I don't even get the first freakin KISS! Nothing, nada, niet. I mean I literally felt myself deflate.

So I keep trudging......maybe it's just the first one. Let's see where it goes. I'm still enjoying the banter and flirting, so although I'm PISSED, I'll admit I'm hanging on by a thread. The mystery that's the side story interests me a bit. And we find out (through telling only, arrrr!) that there was no penetration yet.

So the build happens again. And the big effing fade to black again.

Nope - done!

I have read many m/m fiction and romance books with little to no on-page smexy times. And it can be executed well. But there was too much UST that the author put into this for there to be fade to black. It doesn't work here. Just no!!!!

Upsetting because I actually liked the MCs quite a bit.
