The chairman's death from last issue triggered a failsafe protocol called Medusa. It releases a deadly cyborg named Killjoy who was designed with very destructive capabilities, but has resisted control in the past. She frees some allies and makes her way to the comman hub where she reaches an understanding with the chairwoman, but only after disrupting CDI activities for two hours, which has a severe impact on their control of the media. There are other organizations similar to CDI that will activate their own projects to try to prevent the end of the world.

If you liked volume 1, then you'll probably like volume 2. That's a safe bet. If you didn't like volume 1, then this is more of the same, and sadly you'll never get the time back. The choice is yours. I will say this had a few more stand out moments for me then the first volume did. The introduction of Killjoy was a lot of fun, and I give them props for how they presented it. Apart from that though, it did little to change my overall opinion. Plus, they're trying too hard to craft this shared universe with the Aphrodite IX comic, which is intriguing in concept but forces this story into a box, and it suffers because of it.

Cyberforce Rebirth Volume 2 continues straight on from the story that was started in Volume 1 and its climatic ending. Written by Marc Silvestri, the story is of the same standard of writing as the previous comic, so if you enjoyed Volume 1 you'll enjoy Volume 2.

My main complaint with the story is the last chapter. It feels a bit rushed and a complete turnaround for the characters in regard tot he direction in which they were going in the previous chapters. If there had been more chapters then I feel we could have seen this change happen naturally, rather than it being so sudden. Especially as the ending, in regards to CDI's plan, ended the way I expected it would. I think it just needed one more chapter to get the characters there too.

For the most part, I felt the dialogue was better than Volume 1, however, it did at times feel a bit lacklustre; cliche and run of the mill.

As I've stated before I tend to really like the art style used in these comics and this is one is no different. You can tell the difference between the individual artists who worked on this book as Chapter's 5 and 6 have a slightly different style to issues 1 to 4. It's mainly in the way the characters are drawn and this is due to Marco Turini doing the art for chapters 1 to 4 while Khoi Pham and Heubert Michael did Chapter 5 and 6 (6 was without Khoi Pham).

Much like the art the colouring was completed by several people. Arif Prianto worked on chapters 1,3 and 5 while Andry Troy did the colouring for 1 to 5 and Chris Northrop did the colouring for Chapter 6. Stjepan Sejic also added some final art polish to Chapter 1.

As the lettering was once again done by Troy Peteri, it followed the same patterns as with the previous Volume. Sans font, usually in black, with coloured backgrounds which sometimes changed to reflect the voice of the speaker. The Sound Effects were also easy to read in bold type and stood out from the action without making it feel crowded.

As standard with any comic book volume, there is a Cover Art Gallery at the back that exhibits the variations that were created for each issue. Most of the cover art variations were done by Marc Silvestri and Sunny Gho, however, Cyberforce #6 Cover B and C were done by Stjepan Sejic and John Tyler Christopher respectively.

This comic is for anyone who really likes the Cyberforce universe and Marc's writing style. If you want a simple action comic then it does the job, just don't expect a story of great depth. My main reason for reading it was to complete the story started in Volume 1 and to see where it goes, leading up to the events of the Aphrodite IX/Cyberforce crossover.

I got this ebook as part of the Humble Comics Bundle: Sex & Science by Top Cow, but I was worried that it would depend too much on the original run of cyberforce, so I was not planning to read it. I only did so because of a recommendation by Matt Hawkins on the back pages of Aphrodite IX: Rebirth, Vol. 2 to read it before I go to Aphrodite IX/Cyber Force #1. I still haven't read Aphrodite IX/Cyber Force #1, so I still don't know how valuable that recommendation was.
The book itself did not impress me that much. The graphics were the stronger element for most of the book, but the plot was not interesting enough, other than the parts which serve as background to Aphrodite IX which were great. I thought the story of Killjoy is given too much weight for something of uncertain importance, but maybe it gets important later. One thing for sure, the end felt very rushed. I thought the whole series was badly planned, so they found themselves with too much story and just one issue to tell it, and the result is disappointing. Overall I rate it three stars out of five.

On second read, three years later, the rushed ending is even more pronounced. I downgrade this to two and a half stars.

I enjoyed the first volume, I didn’t enjoy this one. One thing I give it props for: the story often feels like the heroes can’t win. But then they never actually win. I saw someone else hated the ending in here, and I totally agree with that. When he heroes participate in murder if billions of people, that’s also not cool. The way his story is set up, you know the bad guys are going to win anyway because so many Aphrodite Protocol books have been made. So we just see the good guys lose and lose and lose, oh joy.

Speaking of joy or the lack thereof, I hate Killjoy. She is supposed to be funny in a sadistic way, but her constant “cute” sayings and snark and jokes drove me up the wall. She was so ridiculously OP as well, and hen seriously? She had a kid with Ripclaw?

I never want to read anymore of this dumb comic, I did like the poster for Pacific Rim 5 in the background, though. I wish that could happen.

What the hell happened to this series? It had a promising focused start, that then falls a bit flat.

This Volume is very much focused on the new character of Killjoy, a psychopath antagonist. This works well for the time, give the book a renewed focus after the ending of Volume 1. It doesn't work well, when within 2 pages, she goes from Adversary to ally, just because. I felt like I missed a huge section of the book, and had to go back and re-read to double check. Nope, the book seriously 180's so fast quick I'd be surprised if it didn't give you whiplash.

2 stars go to the parts that aren't rubbish, but if you can't have a cohesive story, then why bother? I may try Volume 3, but Its unlikely

This is the next issues from the continuation of the reboot of Cyber Force. Even after liking the first one, I was honestly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I mean, I won't say it's destined to be one for the ages, but it was really well executed. It's packed with action, but still feels character driven. And just the little touches are very well done. Having a part where the action more or less skips several months ahead quickly via a quick collection of scenes is something I usually hate. But in this one, the whole thing is narrated by Killjoy and I loved it. This book is still kind of over the top and not always believable, but as an action comic it just reads really well and I felt really carried away by it. In the overall I quite liked it.

Cyberforce - Rebirth

Volume 2 of the relaunch

I haven’t read Volume 1 of this relaunch by Marc Silvestri but Volume 2 is entertaining enough and quite engaging. It’s a shame that Silvestri is not illustrating it (there’s a cover gallery of his work) but the comic is still well-drawn.

I had read some of the original series and this compliments it nicely. It’s about Ripclaw, Stryker and others and the “resurrection” of Killjoy and the damage that she can cause. It all ends in a post-apocalyptic future and could herald another volume.

Recommended to fans of the original.

Mmm, another big violent bloody chaotic blockbuster of a comic. It amuses me that the most interesting character from the original series - Ballistic - has about the least screen time of the main group.
