Rate this book
I uncovered her secret. She discovered my heart.

A love that never died. A secret revealed. And a dangerous past that won’t let go…

Our relationship was doomed from the start, torn apart by our families' bitter rivalry. Her betrayal shattered me, leaving my heart frozen and trust impossible. But when I bump into Rosetta Conti on a flight to Rome, the ice around my heart begins to crack.

She’s curvier, stronger, and just as beautiful as I remember. She may use a different name, but the spark between us is still undeniable, even if she refuses to acknowledge it.

I’m determined not to lose her again. If I have to follow her every move to prove she still belongs to me, I will. But I’m not the only one keeping tabs on her.

Rose’s past is as dangerous as the man she married, and now he’s back—with a son who looks eerily like me.

With old rivalries raging and secrets threatening to destroy everything, I’ll fight for the second chance we deserve. She melted the ice around my heart once—now I’ll make sure she and her son are mine forever.

Part of the Sinful Secrets Series. Standalones, but part of a shared world.

I’m a graphic artist by day and author by night, writing real, raw, racy romance. My book boyfriends are inked heroes who like fat, fun, and feisty women (sounds familiar).

My goal is to spread body positivity through my fat and fabulous curvy heroines with a good serving of British humour on the side (not forgetting an extra helping of alpha goodness).

On the very rare occasion I’m not working in my day job...or night job as a writer, I'll be living my best life in the heart of England with my other half, two wildlings (otherwise known as Veruca Salt and Mike Teavee), and a randy cavalier pup.

My serious book fetish travels with me in our tin cruiser as we roam the English countryside. You’ll usually find me in a field somewhere or curled up on the sofa with a coffee (wine), blanket and dog to keep me cozy, and a good steamy book to make me w—warm.

Get in touch! I love hearing from readers.

This book delivers on the second chance, enemies to lovers romance. I would describe this as more mafia adjacent, because of the character’s families. Dan is traveling from England to Italy when he hears a voice from his past, Rose. She’s changed her hair and her name, but he would recognize those eyes anywhere. He finds out she is a single mother and ran 8 years ago when her husband was sent to jail. Rose did what she could to escape an abusive and toxic relationship to protect her son. They met 13 years ago when she was 18. He was seeking revenge for the death of his mother and used Rose to get information on her father. She thinks it was all a lie and he abandoned her after killing her father. While Dan thought Rose got married out of spite. When he realizes she is in danger, he vows to protect her and her son. The banter and how Dan riles up Rose was a lot of fun and had me giggling. One of my favorite scenes was Dan tending to her hedges, peak double entendre usage. I loved how the past was seamlessly tied into the present. It was framed as Dan and Rose being drawn into their memories. Rose believes she would never find a happily ever after and fought her feelings to save herself more heartbreak. However, Dan was very persistent and broke down her walls with his words (especially the dirty ones) and his actions. The bantering, angst, and spice make for a fun and engaging read.

A Few Favorite Quotes:

“The only man I belong to is my son. Everyone else can go f*k themselves.”

“She was always soft petals wrapped in poison. Beautiful. Untouchable. Dangerous. And I was stupid enough to think I could touch her and not bleed.”

“Come again?” I smirk, drumming my fingers against the steering wheel. “Oh, you already did that the other night.”

“Not every love story ends in ashes, fiore mio. Ours begins there.” He cups my face in his rough palms and presses his lips to mine. “And God help anyone who tries to take it from us. I’ll burn the whole world to the ground if I have to.”

Uncovering Rose is an emotional, slow-burn romance that delivers on depth, healing, and beautifully broken characters. Annie Charme has a way of writing that feels raw and honest pulling you into Rose’s story and refusing to let go.

Rose is complex guarded, strong, and layered with pain and resilience. Watching her navigate vulnerability after all she’s endured was both powerful and heart-wrenching. The love interest was steady and patient, the perfect contrast to her chaos, and their chemistry built at just the right pace.

What kept this from being a full 5 stars for me was a slight pacing lag in the middle and a few moments where I wished for a deeper dive into certain emotional beats. That said, the ending absolutely delivered, and I closed the book feeling deeply connected to the journey.

If you’re into emotional romance with a strong healing arc and a heroine who learns to reclaim her power — this one is definitely worth the read.

I received an ARC of this book from Annie Charme.
This story is an emotional rollercoaster filled with miscommunication, a secret child, and the heartbreaking reality of domestic violence in the FMC’s past marriage. It’s a slow burn, second-chance romance that really pulls at your emotions. While the pacing felt a bit rushed towards the end, the banter between the characters was absolutely top-notch. Dan and Rose have undeniable chemistry and truly deserve their happily ever after.
A solid 4-star read that kept me hooked from start to finish.

"I never got a letter. I would've torn the world apart to get to you if I had."~Dan aka D'Angelo

"It beats for you. It's yours. If I could sever it and give you a piece of me, I would."~Dan aka D'Angelo

"I know I'm lying because one time with D'Angelo is never enough. It wasn't enough the last time and it won't be enough this time."~Rose

I must be in the minority for this book. My reading experience was ehh at best.😒 And it was hard to finish. Sorry. Not trying to be mean here, just honest with what I read. The story went on and on in circles without moving the plot along, instead it seemed to stay in place and built from there, and then... finally at the end, with twist after twist, with life and death, secrets revealed and solving a medical issue that in reality wouldn't have proceeded in such a way, it was over. So I had to suspend huge amounts of disbelief with the constant OTT chaos. Yes, it's a story but it didn't pull me in. The bantering of Dan and Rose was at times lovey dovey then mean and sarcastic ((choke on toast for example)) then went back to oh yeah let's be nice. It was too weird. Are these 2 in love or trying to prove a point that I'm in control and it's you that wants me. If you love someone, really love someone, you don't want to hurt that person just to make yourself feel better. What kind of bs game is that? These are grown-ups acting like teenagers. And please, I'm all for curvy women being in romance books but the constant mention of Rose's thick thighs by almost every man, even Dan, her husband even called her a pig, was not uplifting this character at all. It was mean.😑 Was that all there was to Rose. Her body shape? Big time body shaming.

🚩🚩 Also, be sure to check the TWs. There are events in the story that might be triggering for some readers.🚩🚩

There were moments I found romantic, the quotes I included above reflected that, but then these 2 would revert back to talking about past betrayals. And no one was talking about it. Why? They're adults. Start acting like it. Talk already. The majority of this book was like that. Also, hypoglycemic doesn't mean low blood pressure. It means low blood sugar. Rose would need to eat or drink something with sugar to raise her low blood sugar back up. She wouldn't just say I'm not hungry and proceed to get up and wash blood out of Dan's shirt.🙄 Hello. Felling dizzy and weak doesn't go away by itself.😵‍💫🩸

When I first started reading the book it had such great potential. I was on board with the plot of mob guy, 40 something D'Angelo 'Dan' Bianchi running into his past love, 30 something Rosetta 'Rose' Conti on a random flight after 13yrs of no contact. Sounds good, right?! This would lead to their past history and all the endless lies and bloodshed spilled that bound them together to the present. But it was written heavy handed. Too much was piled on. Of course, Rose, his little bird, his fiore mio, the flight attendant was going under an alias, hair colored blonde etc, hiding from her lunatic husband to protect her almost 13yr old son and herself. Dan was going through his own PTSD being on a plane, and popping strawberry gum left and right to calm his own trauma.🫨🛫 And yet, he could get in a passenger's face 🫗 and also do naughty things in the lavatory.😅😅 Next ensues the tug of war of denial, Rose being persued by Dan then vice versa, attraction, and blaming each other for past betrayals, heartbreak, with you did this to me and look what you did to me blah blah blah; along with the biggest stab in the back, the past murd3r of Rose's tyrant father at the hands of... can you guess who did that?!😧😳🙀 I won't tell reveal who or why here, it's a twisted and complicated revenge story among all the other stuff going on. There's sooooo much going on. Geez Louise.😮‍💨😂😂 Why was there so many tropes?! It's not just one thing. It's a thousand issues. It's wasn't an easy read. It was TOO much.😖 Romeo and Juliet influence was thrown in but it didn't help. It wasn't interesting for me anymore. Also, Rose's monster husband, who was looking for her, Dan gets hired by him to find her, b/c why not, didn't help. Her husband for being a villian, really wasn't around very much. Just certain times. Rose's past trauma scene was off-putting. Dan never discovered the physicality of it. Come on now.🫲🏻🧐🫱🏻 And that complete mind breaking trauma... then silence... to 10 minutes later, yeah let's have s*x, was a smh moment. Oof!!🙉🙊🙈 I think that required a let me hold you for now.

I liked 2 characters. Dan's funny brother Dominic and Rose's sickly mother Lucia. Who weren't around very much. Overall, this one didn't work for me. Rose was... too bratty. I want you but I hate you I hate you doesn't make for a likable character. And Dan, Mr Inferno, with body piercings and tattoos, he was okay, I guess. He redeemed himself. Is there a HEA? Yes. But it took too long to get there. If you want to read this book, you should. Your reading experience might be different from mine. I really like the book cover.🥰 Good luck. Happy reading.*•>§<•*🩷🩷🩷

This was the first book I've read of this author and I'm so excited to go and read more! This book is the 3rd in a interconnected standalone series.

Dan(D’Angelo) Bianchi met the love of his life 14 years ago and lost her, now he's found her and she is pretending to now know how he is. She's hiding from someone and he'll do anything to protect her.

Rose met the love of her life and then broken 14 years ago, now the man that used her to kill her father then left her is back in her life. She's no longer the naive 18 year old and won't go down without a fight.

These two were absolutely perfect! I loved that even 14 years later they still were in love, even if they say they hate each other. Their connection was still there. The banter they had and Rose making Dan grovel was chef's kiss.

I loved that this story had a suspense/mafia plot that went along with the romance. The story was intriguing and pulled you in! So many secrets and plot twists! Although the last plot twist was a bit much😅 It did add to the story, but again a bit much.

I loved this story so much and can't wait to read the whole series and the series connected to this one. I'm excited for Elio's story and hopefully that's the next one we get!

Dan (Doms brother from book 1) gets his book! I've been so intrigued by Dan since the beginning of this series and I wasnt let down. His rough and icy exterior through the other books make it addictive ehrn he starts to let his guard down with Rose. The family drama, the secrets and love just make this a fab second chance romance.

The line between love and hate…
This is my first book by this author. I do recommend reading the books in order. I sometimes felt as if I missed some inside jokes throughout the story. The story wasn’t lacking or unable to keep pacing, I just hate not being in the know. Lol The story is written on British English and I appreciated learning new term. It immersed you in the world even more.
The second chance story opens with an accidental chance encounter. Rose has completely changed herself into another person 13 years after their one night together that was memorable for more than one reason. Rose is a beautiful, plus size, and courageous mother. Some might say circumstances forced her to be strong and protective.
If you are a fan of the Shakespearean age, great works of literature, or star crossed lovers, then this is the book for you! If you are a soccer fan, even better! So many parallels to Romeo and Juliet as well as A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Rose is from the Conti family, and D’Angelo is from the Bianchi family who are deadly enemies in this crime world.
I gave the book 4 stars as opposed to 5 stars because some of the language was off putting. In some of the flashbacks and other parts of the story, terms like ‘chubby’ and ‘thighs touching’ we used in a derogatory manner. Yes D’Angelo stood up for Rose against others saying mean things at times. It was just hard to tell sometimes if was truly just a previous thought process, or if they actually meant it negatively.
There are so many layers to this story, it’s hard to share anything about it without spoiling it. Every time you think you know what happened when, there’s another secret bombshell that goes off and rocks your perception. I liked that the author had the ability to take you through so many emotions. You think it’s black and white, and you know how you feel about one character, and then we take a hard left into more grey. I can tell you I started hating one character, then felt so sorry for them, cried, and then was right back to cheering them on.
I absolutely loved Rose’s mom, Lucia! She’s a feisty woman who does not let her health stop her. As the story progresses you learn even more about how fierce and honorable this woman is. I liked that we got to see behind the curtain into what, and who, made the main characters what they are today. Love blooms in different ways for everyone.

New Author for me but I love Dark Mafia Romance, so I dived in. This was definitely entertaining and I did like this authors way of bringing the world they're in alive.
As you can see it's the last book in series I think but I didn't feel lost because I didn't read the other books. But I am intrigued with a few of them. Annie writes large age gap romance, this was 10 yrs. A remake of Romeo and Juliet with plenty of tragedy but luckily a HEA.
Dan and Rose's love story was doomed from the start. Betrayal, misunderstanding and tragedy had made them lose 13 yrs.
I loved Dan's confidence and power. Now he ha found his little flower he isn't letting her go despite how he broke his heart.
Rose is in disguise and hiding with new life and still Dan recognised her eyes.
She can't let him in again despite never stop loving him, he will shatter her heart this time.
You see what problem we have here? Yeah, the whole story I them fighting their chemistry and digs about betrayal. Also plenty of banter alongside it all. I loved how Dan was all in, protecting her even if she isn't saying yes.
It all changes when he sees her 12 Yr old sons eyes. Now she is never getting rid of him. My heart broke for Dan and Rose, so much heartbreak and pain and they will never get those years back.
Unfortunately Rose's husband is out of prison and he is looking for them. Lot of twist, secret, suspense, betrayal, banter, love, family and spice.
I think there was a part when Dan told her hat happened back then, I thought Rose would forgive him. She showed tiny bit of empathy and then continued to push him away. I think she should have been a bit more understanding at that time.
It was a very entertaining story and read within a day.

“My beautiful rose, whose thorns pierced my heart. Your poison runs through my veins, clouding my thoughts, consuming me—mind, body, and soul.”

In Uncovering Rose, Annie Charme delivers a thrilling, emotionally charged romance that delves into the complexities of love, betrayal, and redemption. Set against the backdrop of feuding families, this novel follows Dan and Rose, two individuals whose pasts are marred by secrets and danger. Their unexpected reunion ignites old flames and unearths hidden truths that could either bind them together or tear them apart. The narrative is a rollercoaster of emotions, masterfully weaving suspense with heartfelt moments. Dan's unwavering determination to reclaim Rose, despite the shadows of their past, adds depth to his character. Rose's internal struggle between fear and desire is palpable, making her journey relatable and compelling. The slow-burn romance is executed with finesse, allowing the tension to build naturally and keeping readers engaged. While the story's intensity is one of its strengths, certain plot points could have been explored further to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the characters' motivations. Additionally, some twists, though intriguing, felt slightly rushed, leaving a desire for more detailed resolutions. Annie Charme's writing is evocative and immersive, painting vivid scenes that draw readers into the world of Dan and Rose. Her ability to balance suspense with romance showcases her versatility as an author. The dialogue is sharp and authentic, effectively conveying the characters' emotions and histories.

Uncovering Rose is a captivating tale of love's resilience in the face of adversity. Annie Charme crafts a narrative that is both thrilling and emotionally resonant, making it a must-read for fans of romantic suspense. Despite minor shortcomings, the novel's strengths far outweigh its flaws, solidifying its place as a standout in the genre.

ARC Review – Uncovering Rose by Annie Charme
⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
A gripping second-chance romance steeped in betrayal, secrets, and the kind of heartbreak that never really heals.
When Dan, a former soldier scarred by his past, boards a flight to a family wedding, the last person he expects to see is the woman who once destroyed him—his Rose. Except now, she’s blonde, calling herself Grace, and pretending not to recognize him. But Dan knows it’s her. He’s never stopped loving her, even if he tried to hate her.
Rose has spent years in hiding—running from her abusive husband, from the truth, and from Dan. She changed her name, moved countries, and built a new life for herself and her son, Angelos. A son Dan doesn’t even know exists. To the world, Angelos is her ex-husband’s child—and that lie has kept them safe. Until Dan walks back into her life, bringing with him every buried memory and unresolved emotion.
As their paths cross again, old wounds resurface and long-held secrets unravel. Dan learns the truth about his son and begins to repair what he once lost. But just as things begin to heal, everything implodes when Magnus—Rose’s dangerous ex—manipulates Angelos and threatens the fragile trust between them.
A single moment of doubt sends Rose fleeing once more, this time to her family home in Rome—smack in the middle of a long-standing feud with Dan’s family. What follows is a storm of betrayal, revelations, and violence. Not everyone makes it out unscathed.
Uncovering Rose delivers an emotional rollercoaster full of tension, heartbreak, and healing. With high-stakes drama, morally grey characters, and a fierce, fated love that refuses to die, Annie Charme proves that some connections can’t be erased—no matter how far or how fast you run.

Romeo and Juliet inspired love story with a waaaaayyy better ending 👀👀

This was my first book by Annie Charme and also my first British English book in a long long time. At first I needed a bit of time getting use to those typical British English sayings but in the end that made the story even more authentic. (I still prefer American English for reading books)

They both come from two rivaling families.
She is the daughter of the man who killed is mother and his job is to get intel on her father and to take him down. During his mission he gets to know her and falls for her which results in her giving him her virginity and afterwards her getting pregnant.
He does not know that he is a father because shortly after he achieves his mission goal and gets deployed by the military she gets married to someone else (some abusive ahole who is in jail and wants her back: she is currently in hiding). 13 year later he sees her on a plane ride and can’t let her go a second time. The Story unfolds and they get to know each other again. Both are hurt and have trust issues (especially her since she got abused in her marriage).

This is a slow burn second chance romance with a “surprise” child. There is some spice in this story but that’s not the main focus. At some points I just wanted them both to be open and talk about their issues like they do towards the end of the book but overall it was a decent read and I enjoyed the book!

Oh How I Absolutely Loved and Devoured Uncovering Rose by Annie Charme!

This second chance / mafia story had me captivated from start to finish.
It was emotional... My poor heart was aching throughout.
Humour... How I loved me the banter throughout.
Secondary characters... Squee the appearance of a few fav characters had me smiling.
Spice.... The spice was spicing and I looovveeddd it.
Twist... Annie Charme hit me with a twist that had me gasping.

Dan!!! Did someone request a possessive, obsessive and yet also absolutely swoon-worthy man?
Well Annie Charme absolutely delivered him.
One minute we are getting "What the fuck did he do to you?" and then he is making her breakfast in bed. So many layers to this man and I loved them all.

Rose!! I love me strong heroine and Rose was strong, brave and determined. In order to keep her and her teenage son safe from her abusive ex-husband, Rose was in hiding. New job, new location and new hair colour.
But.....
Some connections are simply too strong.
When Dan and Rose cross paths by coincidence Dan immediately recognises her, regardless of a new hair colour and name change.
From this moment... not only do sparks ignite (again)....
But.... everything from their past resurfaces... Secrets, hurt, trauma, sacrifice, betrayal, lies and unforgotten love.
As they work through all of the hurt and pain.. Dan becomes quickly determined.
This time, Dan wants forever, and he will do whatever he has to, to get it.

The second chance between these two was not easy, it was damn bumpy (specially for my emotions).
But... oh it was worth it for the HEA!

I will never miss an Annie Charme books and can't wait to see what she delivers next.

Uncovering Rose is a well-written, fast-paced second-chance mafia romance that hits all the genre beats—danger, longing, forbidden love, and family drama. Rose and Dan have a complicated history, and bumping into each other years later sets the stage for a tangled mix of chemistry, secrets, and second chances.

There’s a lot to like here. The writing is smooth and engaging, and I really appreciated how current and relatable some of the character dynamics were—especially Rose’s relationship with her son, Angelo. His “bruh” moments and cringe commentary made me laugh and gave the story a much-needed touch of real life. It felt like a genuine mum-almost-teen dynamic in the middle of all the mafia chaos.

That said, there were a few things that didn’t quite sit right with me. Dan accepting a job from Rose’s (very shady) husband and not telling her? Nope. I’m not a fan of the whole “I didn’t say anything to protect you” trope. Non-communication as protection just feels tired and, in this case, unnecessary—especially when there’s already so much tension between them.

The story is a little predictable in parts, especially if you’re familiar with mafia romance or second-chance plots. But the emotional undercurrent, plus the tension of old rivalries and that ever-present danger lurking around the edges, kept things moving.

Overall, Uncovering Rose is an enjoyable read with heart and heat, even if some choices left me sighing in frustration. If you're a fan of secret babies, mafia politics, and angsty reunions, it's worth checking out—just brace yourself for some avoidable drama.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my review.

So here’s the deal—this was my first dip into mafia and dark romance and while I probably won’t read more in this subgenre (for personal reasons and mental health boundaries), I’m really glad I gave this one a shot. Not because it was easy—but because Annie Charme can write. I’ve loved Annie Charme’s other books, so even though dark/mafia romance isn’t usually my thing, I decided to give this one a try

We meet Dan and Rose on a flight to Rome, and the tension is immediate. He’s the ex who shattered her, might be her son’s father, and still very much in love. She’s a soft-yet-strong, curvy single mom doing everything she can to stay safe. Their chemistry? Unhinged. Protective energy, long-held secrets, and so much slow-burn angst it hurts (in the best way).

It’s darker than I usually read—there’s real danger, trauma, and mafia drama—but Rose’s emotional depth and strength pulled me in. She’s scared but still powerful. Plus-size and fully desired. And Dan? That “I’d burn the world for you” energy was intense but tender.

Some pacing was a little quick, but the emotional payoff hit. If you love second chances, protective men, and heroines who fight like hell for themselves and their kids, this delivers.

Tropes: Second chance, secret baby, forced proximity, found family, protective alpha, single mom, mafia/dark romance

Uncovering Rose is an emotional, steamy, second chance, mafia romance. Rose, a strong and confident women, who is hiding with her son, from her abusive ex-husband changes her name. What she didn’t expect was to meet her former love, Dan, on the airplane she was an air stewardess on.

Dan immediately recognises Rose and the sizzling chemistry they once shared has not gone away. But unresolved feelings, past trauma and hurt lead you into a slow-burn romance, one which Dan is determined to keep this time around. Rose is very guarded; she’s had so much hurt, opening her heart again is not that easy. Everything is going well until Roses’s ex-husband surfaces, using Rose’s son to threaten her, it’s clear Dan will go to any lengths to protect Rose, but Rose is not ready to fully trust Dan at this point, so she runs.

Rose and Dan’s journey is an emotional rollercoaster, with plenty of twists and turns, some I saw coming. You get the typical mafia romance, where danger, secrets, betrayals and revelations all threaten to break them apart. Family, loyalty, and sacrifice all play their part and adds another dimension to the plot. However, I felt there was a bit of a lull around the middle of the book, which lost me a bit but the ending hits hard and fast with plenty of tension, heartbreak, and healing.

A second chance romance that is emotionally charged, heartbreaking, and suspenseful, to the point that you get so lost in the storyline that you lose track of time. Ms. Charme has delivered a story where you want to shake the MCs, yell at them to see that the person right in front of them is the one for them. She effortlessly gives us a story where secrets, danger, betrayal, family feuds and love are intertwined to make this story that you just can't get out of your head.
When Dan, D'Angelo, thinks he has seen a ghost in a woman, Rose, who looks like the one woman who owned his heart and got away, he sets his sights on proving it is her and she is alive. There is a history between them that has them dealing with secrets, betrayal and murder. Rose is running from the life that she was forced to live; however, she had one bright light in her life and that was her son, Angelos. Seeing the man who shattered her life and has haunted her for years, has her on edge. Can she let him behind the walls that she has built around her heart? Dan, determined to win her back, does everything in his power, even if it looks like he is betraying her yet again. When truths are revealed, hearts and families are shattered but the love that they share overshadows the negativity in their lives.

Uncovering Rose is a Mafia second chance romance. This was my first Mafia romance, I thought I’d dip my toe in and see what I thought. Generally I enjoyed the story and the characters of Rose and Dan, our FMC and MMC. There were moments where the misogyny and violence of the mafia trope were a bit much for me. However, I do think this was a light introduction to the genre, it wasn’t crazy dark.

I enjoyed the strength that Rose showed as a woman and as a mother. Dan was also very likeable, but the other characters in the story didn’t really stand out to me, and I struggle to remember a lot about them.

The story is set between Rome and London, I don’t know if I got a real sense of either place in the story, it could have been set in any large city. I wonder if this is my inexperience of the genre however?

There is a good level of spice in this book, though at times it does edge towards dubious consent, again I think this is a part of the genre.

Overall, I think if you want to start in Mafia romance this is a good beginner story. I enjoyed the overall romance and the connect between Rose and Dan. I don’t think it has converted me to Mafia romance, but I’m glad I tried it!

WOW!
I love Dan and Rose’s story!

They have a past. One you slowly learn about throughout the book.

In the past, Dan was out for revenge and ended up falling for Rose.
Now, he is out to avenge his actions and have Rose fall for him.

They both have so many secrets that come to the surface..
I love their love. The way they found each other again, truly felt like fate.

Dan is very protective of Rose and her son.
Rose is very protective of her son. "Don't wake the baby." -BROKE ME-
When these two come together, the chemistry is electric. The push and pull between them is heavy.
Dan is trying to protect Rose from the husband she ran from, the husband Dan thought Rose left him for all those years ago.

This story is so heartbreaking. But trust me it will put you right back together, too.

Now, I need Elio to get a redemption arc, cause I do not want to hate him. But right now.. I got words for him!

This is a great, mafia style read. It does have dark themes but the romance is not dark. Their story is so well told and has everything a good, tragic love story needs.

Thanks Annie Charme and Greys Promo for the ARC!
All opinions are my own!

ARC Review

This is my first Annie Charme novel. I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed the tension and the mystery. I thought the characters were well written. The son, Angelos, was probably my favorite. I liked him immediately.
This is second chance, mafia romance. De'Angelo meets Rose by "rescuing" her purse. Rose is a sweet, sheltered and abused 18 year old daughter of a mafia boss. De'Angelo needs to get close to her to get information on her dad. He doesn't count on falling for her. She loves him and gives him her virginity only to wake up to find her father and his men dead all around her family home.
Rose is given to partner of the family in marriage. She has a son, and a viciously brutal husband. Her husband rightfully ends up in prison. Rose grabs Angelos runs. New names, new look, new city.
She's safe and her son is safe. Until De'Angelo boards her plane.
Now it all breaks loose. The husband is out of prison and looking for her. Rose's brother is now the boss and wants Dan dead. Angelo's age makes Dan wonder....until he meets him and then he knows.
There is mystery and suspense and a second chance at love. Can she get past what he did? Can he forgive her for keeping such a secret? Can he keep them safe from a psychopath?
It's a good read! You will absolutely want to get to end....
Thanks Grey's Promo and Annie Charme for trusting me with this ARC!

I’d give this one 3.5 stars: Rose & Dan have a past filled with secrets. Secrets they hid from each other & secrets that they hid from their families & some secrets their families’ kept hidden from them. A chance encounter after over a decade brings them back into each other’s lives-that have navigate the past and fall in love again in the present. Finding out you have an unknown kid and then finding out you have abuse happening in multiple generations. So much went down. It was a Romeo & Juliet multi-generational vibe. The two MCs had some great back and forth, there was some good spice, but it also felt like the world’s longest miscommunication. How many secrets can these families have? It just seemed that any progress they made toward each other they immediately went back to their old pattern so it seemed to go in circles for a bit too long. I also hated the putting down of the FMC with calling her chubby as an insult & her own brother insinuating no one would love her because of how she looked. Just some ick there for me. Overall it was enjoyable but felt a little meh.

✨ ARC Review ✨
🌟 : 3,75/5
🌶️: 2/5
RELEASE DATE: 06/06/25

If it's meant to be, it's meant to be.

Why do i feel like i'm reading a telenovela version of Romeo & Juliet 🤣🤣
THE TWIST AND TURN WAS TWISTING AND TURNING FOR SUREEE 🤣🤣

TBH the last like 30% of the book was where all the action and twists were unraveling AND I DID NOT EXPECT THAT OUTCOME 🤣🤣

Mr Inferno HAS ME SWOONING the whole time 🥲 LIKE GODDAMN DOES HE NEED TO BE THAT SMOOTH!!!
And also I FUCKING LOVE ROSES COMEBACK!! She is definitely bratty FOR SURE!!!

But not gonna lie i feel like the connection between Rose & Dan with Angelos was a little distance.
And also Elio was giving me mixed signals 🤣 like i don't even know how to explain how confused i am with that one 🤣🤣

Love the brother relationship between Dan & Dom. THEY ARE SO SWEET 🥲
Definitely would be reading the other books in the series!

Book Contains:
- Secret Pregnancy
- 2nd Chance
- Past Abuse
- Curvy FMC
- Secret Identity
- Violence
- Single Mom
- Mention of Parental Death
- Mile High Club
- 🍆 piercing

I received an ARC from Annie Charm for an honest review.

I was looking forward to reading Dan’s story. We are introduced to him in Protecting Poppy as Dom’s brother, but nothing was given away about his life

Rose and her son are in hiding from her husband, she never thought she would bump into her first love again on a her flight to Rome, and Dan certainly never thought he would ever see the woman who broke his heart.

The banter between Rose and Dan is so good. The chemistry is still there but Rose fights that chemistry as well as Dan.

This is a slow burn but definitely worth the wait. It’s a modern Romeo and Juliet story, it’s full of Italian feuding families, danger and secrets. These two belong together, but can they get over all the secrets as well trust each other again.

This is part of an interconnecting series which I have read, but can be read as a stand alone

Thank you to Annie & Grey’s production for my first ARC.

Once they were just Rose and Dan. But one of them had an agenda that tore them apart. Years later, chance brings them back together. Neither of them is who they once were, but Dan is not ready to let Rose go again. Because Rose is in danger and Dan wants to do everything he can to protect her. Her and her son, who looks a lot like Dan.

Uncovering Rose is part of The Sinful Secrets Series. The parts can be read independently as you don't learn much about the other couples. For me, it was the author's first book. As the author is British, the story is written in British English, which was unusual at first but in no way distracting.

I really liked the story. On the one hand, I like dark romance with intense male protagonists and Dan checks every box on my list. But what really blew me away was Rose. I loved how she develops from an 18-year-old girl into an incredibly strong woman. The story is exciting right to the end, has a really satisfying ending and paints a tragic but beautiful love story. I liked Dan's perseverance, the banter between those two and the love you just feel through every encounter. And I honestly really would love for Elio to get his own story.

This is the fourth book in this series, and this is Rose and Dan’s story.
A relationship between Rose and Dan is doomed from the start, as they are town apart by feuding rival families, leaving Dan with a shattered heart after a betrayal. Now years later Rose and Dan cross paths again. Rose is on the run with her son, from a life she was forced to live, and Dan is determined to protect them. Will the past come back to haunt them again?
This is a well written slow burn, with family, friendships, emotions, betrayal, secrets, lies, twists and turns, touch her and die vibes, an age gap, determination, manipulation, revelations, sacrifices, retribution, suspense, intrigue, enemies / lovers, second chances, humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, captivating page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I enjoyed this story... From the first page, you just knew it was going to be good.

D'Angelo 'Dan' thought he saw a ghost when he got on a plane. But the minute he looked into her eyes, he knew it was his Rose.
Dan knew he would do anything this time to keep her in his life, especially when he found out she was in danger.

Rose had changed her name and moved away from her family to protect herself and her son. And looking into the eyes of her once love, she knew she was in trouble. But she had more to think of than her own heart, she had to think of her son too...

The story was great. I loved the love-hate banter these two had going on. And when Dan found out the secret that Rose was hiding, he knew that he was going to keep his family safe.

Loved the story, loved the characters and the twists and turns going on. My first story by this author and won't be the last💖

Dan and Rose

The emotion throughout this entire read is the best thing I could tell you to get you to read it. You will feel the emotion through their past, finding each other again and falling in love all over again with some extra turmoil added in. Finding Rose on an airplane with the least expected place Dan thought she would be. They were together at a young age but under different circumstances. Dan asked Rose if she would still be there for him when he came back and she went a completely different direction because of a mafia man in her direct family.

The ultimate surprise Dan gets is in this book, and the trials and tribulations he goes through to get to be friends with his person first is so important and his persistence is amazing. From beginning to end, Rose and Dan are meant to be together and their forever after is beautiful. Highly recommend reading this entire series.

Mafia enemies to Lovers a play on Romeo and Juliet. Years ago Dan is bent on revenge but he falls for the one women he shouldn't his family's enemy. Rose she thinks she was played and Dan never cared about her did her betrayal cause her fathers death and Dan he thinks Rose just married someone else to hurt him talk about too people who really need to communicate and the secret Rose kept all that time. Dan a flight from England to Italy brings the only women he ever loved back into his life can he finally have her or will and old enemy of Rose's keep them apart.

There is allot of back and forth I hate you but I love you between Rose and Dan he's gotten colder threw the years and she's become more secretive and scared but Dan truly comes threw for Rose in the end. There is some language some body shaming and trauma but nothing between the two main MMC.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Dan and Rose are from fueding mafia families. Rose decided to leave her past behind and start a new life. Rose and her son have remained hidden for years. Dan betrayed Rose when they were young. Rose didn't really forgive Dan but she also can't stop thinking about him. On a flight to Rome, Dan recognizes Rose as a flight attendant. Dan decides he won't give up on their second chance.

Rose was really harsh to Dan. This book definitely had enemies to lovers trope. I can't say how I would feel in Rose's place. I guess Rose was just guarding her heart. Rose wasn't going to make winning her heart again easy. Dan was much more open in his feelings to Rose. Rose was married and had a son. The book was a slow burn and very emotional. Definitely very Romeo and Juliet vibes, with a few twists.

Thank you, Grey's Promotions and Annie Charme, for the ARC.

Omg this was my first read from Annie Charme and it will not be my last. Uncovering Rose was great. I loved every aspect of it from the spicy scenes to the gore. I was hooked from page 1. I loved it even more knowing the the FMC was plus size. I also loved seeing her grow and become such a strong lead. The writing was so addicting you just wanted to keep going to see what was going to happen next, I just couldn't put it down, to be honest I was a little sad to get to the last page I just wanted it to keep going. I couldn't get enough so I did end up downloading the bonus epilog. I will definitely be going back and reading the previous books in the series. I would even love to see if she comes out with a story for Elios. I just can't put into words how great this read was so if you love a second chance mafia romance definitely pick this one up.
