A buried truth resurfaces, unleashing a chilling reality in the next gripping thriller by USA Today Bestselling Author Kennedy Layne…
Brooklyn Sloane, a former FBI profiler, has spent her career overshadowed by her brother’s heinous legacy. For years, she has searched for a way to bring Jacob Walsh to justice, haunted by the faces of his victims and the devastation he has left behind. Now, a sliver of hope is in sight, and she fully intends to deliver closure to the shattered families left behind.
When a federal prosecutor strikes a plea deal with Jacob, Brook unwillingly finds herself part of the agreement. She reluctantly agrees to accompany him to the remote Alaskan wilderness. Jacob claims he’ll reveal the burial site of one of his victims, a young woman whose disappearance has plagued her family for years.
Upon landing, however, the team is greeted with a shocking new horror. On the tarmac of the isolated airstrip lies the freshly mutilated body of an unidentified woman. The gruesome scene bears eerie similarities to Jacob’s signature style, yet he’s been under tight federal custody for years. With no witnesses and a killer potentially hiding in plain sight, Brook and her team must navigate the unforgiving Alaskan frontier. Even worse, she must balance her distrust of her brother against the urgent need to unmask a potentially new killer.
Kennedy Layne is a USA Today bestselling author. She draws inspiration for her romantic thrillers in part from her not-so-secret second life as a wife of a retired Marine Master Sergeant. He doubles as her critique partner, beta reader, and military consultant. Kennedy also has a deep love for cozy mysteries, thrillers, and basically any book that can keep her guessing until the very end. They live in the Midwest with their menagerie of pets. The loyal dogs and mischievous cats appreciate her writing days as much as she does, usually curled up in front of the fireplace.
Craving Sin is book thirteen in this amazing series which follows former FBI profiler Brooklyn Sloan, who is the sister of America’s most prolific serial killer, Jacob Walsh.
After turning himself in, Brook thwarts multiple attempts by Jacob to escape prison. He’s been on the inside for years, when suddenly a plea deal for information has them planning a trip to Alaska with Jacob along for the ride, to give them the location of a “body” never located. They plan meticulously for five months for every eventuality, but when they arrive a body, murdered in a similar fashion as Jacob’s MO, throws the trip and everyone off balance, when they discover who it is😳
Not willing to let Jacob deviate from their plans, Brook pushes forward to find out why they had to be in Alaska in June and what he is really planning🤷♀️ So many revelations made about Jacob that were intriguing when Brook pieced them together…I really enjoyed it and that ending has me itching for the next book already🙌
3.5⭐️ dont get me wrong, it was a good book but it was different compared to the rest of the series where it was solely focused on Jacob. which wasn't bad, buttt I did like reading about then solving cases. they have to solve 2 murders out there, but again, it just wasn't the same I was genuinely confused on who Katie Lin was, which means I definitely need to re read the series. but the one huge things.. I CANT BELIEVE JACOB ESCAPED wtf poor Brooke. I know she knows hes not dead and I hope his leg bothers him for the rest of eternity. also, why can't he leave the poor man alone? overall, good book, just not like the rest in the series but I know this is what the previous books have boiled down to- the focus on jacob. side note - I really love to read the perspective of graham and books relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed it

It’s not often you find book 13 in a series is just as good as book 1. Kennedy Layne consistently delivers 5-star reads book after book and I cannot wait for book 14. A former FBI profiler, who starts her own private investigative consulting firm for cold cases so she can track down her serial killer brother is a fresh twist on the typical FBI/Serial Killer genre. I love the character development throughout the series and how each book has an exciting new case to solve while also building on her brother’s case history. The books are fast-paced quick fun reads. If you are a fan of FBI / Private Investigator / Serial Killer stories, I highly recommend diving into this series.
This is easily one of my favorite books in the series. Watching Brook go toe to toe with her brother was intense, and I loved seeing who might finally come out on top. One of the revelations about what he had set in motion for her genuinely surprised me - the level of planning and obsession was unsettling.
That said, I still wish we had more insight into why his fixation on Brook runs so deep. What we’ve been given doesn’t fully explain the extreme lengths he’s gone to. And while the ending didn’t surprise me, it definitely made me wonder how long this storyline will continue to be stretched out.
Just when I think this series can't get better,, it does. The author has done a great job of growing the characters in this series. I want to read more about them. This case focuses on the brother of the main character who is a serial killer. He is directing the action but Brook is on to him. I felt the ending was a surprise and cannot wait to see where the author takes this story. I also want to read about new cases that they tackle. This book, like the others in the series, is dark. I would recommend the series. I will definitely keep reading.
I found the descriptive nature of the writing really difficult to jive with! So much of the book is describing what people are eating, drinking or wearing. I’m sure that happens in other books but it’s always so noticeable with this author and I find it just stunts the pacing entirely. Adding that to my usual gripe with this series… Too. Many. Characters.
All that aside, it’s fully focused on Jacob and that’s at least something. I’m looking forward to wrapping up this series as it’s been a bumpy road!
It felt like this whole book was a elaborate game of cat and mouse between Brook and Jacob. The thing is that everyone knew it and knew they needed to go along with it, in the name of justice for a dead girl. For the most part, Brook had things well in hand and often was one step ahead of Jacob, right until the end. It was then that you knew Jacob won this round and we'll have to be satisfied with the state he ended up in. It also sucks that innocent people paid a huge price in Jacob's game, one in particular that will affect Brook and her team hard.
The fact that I have to wait until next year to read the next one is sinful in itself. I just binged this entire series and am obsessed! I love the characters, the villains, the mystery, the ‘ah-ha!’ moment. It’s chefs kiss every time.
Now let’s talk about the latter half of this book… I was floored. We all knew Jacob was smart, but woah. Never in a million years would I have expected this exit plan. I can’t wait to find out how Brook is going to catch his sorry ass (am I allowed to say that?), whether it’s in the next book or 5 books from now.
May 4th can’t get here soon enough.

Another FANTASTIC visit with this gang. I’m so addicted to this series. Every single book gets better and better. I’m ready for Jacob to get what’s coming to him but I want this series to continue. These characters are so awesome.
I Love This Series! Questions and Lies, Hopes and Despair. Brook and her team are tested to their limits and we have to hope that their strength and unity will see them safely through this case.
There are multiple events in this book that changes the lives of Brook and her team. They solve one crime but another happens. There are some very sad moments followed by more frustration. This is a must read for sure.
I love this series. Brook & her team are great. Love her interaction with Graham. I hope Sylvie & Derek become a story !line. Bad thing is, gotta wait for book 14..
I really enjoyed the change of scenery in this book. while the team were still solving cases, a large part was focused on Jacob which was refreshing. can't wait for the next book to be released.
