So even though I don't really believe in "higher powers" and what have you, I don't necessarily think the advice in this book is bad. In fact, I think it might work sometimes. This is because the main advice it REALLY gives you, once you've subtracted all the supernatural talk, is that you need to focus on the things you want to accomplish and look for chances to advance those goals as you go through your day to day life.
Some of the stuff which is mentioned (like winning the lottery) is of course ACTUAL chance or luck, and if you want to put out your desire into the universe about such things, I don't see why not... but in some of the examples mentioned, that which is touted as "luck" or "coincidence" is actually the person paying attention to stuff in their life that might advance their goal, then jumping on such things if they happen to show up. In reality, this is how things happen for lots of people, and it is completely reasonable to think it could happen to you. Similarly, lots of motivational studies and such indicate that imagining the scenario you want to have happen and keeping it in mind all the time are things which help to motivate you to work towards those things, which naturally makes them more likely to occur. No need for a "higher power" to help you out. And hey, maybe there is one. Who can say?
