I couldn’t contain my excitement when I got the text at work. My sir – my darling husband Erik – had arranged for a weekend on the town. The kids were covered. The reservations were made.
All I had to do was put on the beautiful f***-me-dress he’d bought for me.
I was like liquid desire in that thing. Even our waiter at the fancy restaurant Erik took us to couldn’t keep his eyes off me. But little did I know, that was just the tip of the iceberg for what Sir had in store for me that night.
Erik
Allie and I had first learned about Club Noir through some of the kinky research we’d been doing online. Who knew that an adult club like that was lurking in our city the whole time, right under our noses?
When we actually got there, though, it was almost more than I’d bargained for. So many people. So many kinks. So much to navigate, and all in the open and on full display.
But when I saw the St. Andrew’s Cross, I couldn’t get the mental images out of my head – visions of the cross… with my beautiful wife strapped to it.
And at my mercy.
Untying the Knot
Erik and Allie worked hard to build a life they were proud of. It wasn’t easy, but by the time they reached their forties, they were content. Not just husband and wife, but also mother and father to three energetic boys. Unfortunately, that didn’t leave much time for each other.
This series is their journey to reinvent their intimacy by diving into the world of BDSM. Their love takes them on a year-long exploration of themselves and each other. Together, they navigate the ups and downs of self-discovery to untie the knot of suburban domesticity.
This series is absolutely amazing. Just when I think I've found my favourite of them all, a new one comes out and it's my new favourite. Allie and Erik explore an adult club in this one and the results did not let me down at all. Their banter, the realism between them and other interacting characters, everything about this series is incredible!
Allie is out here living out one of my greatest fantasies, and while I am very jealous, I've also got to say good for you boo!
Erik & Allie + Club Noir = *chefs kiss*
Spread was by far the hottest book yet in the Untying the Knot series. Obviously, the subject matter has something to do with it, but it was also Allies submission. She trusted Sir to make all of the right decisions while feeling safe enough to give her own opinions.
Trust is the foundation for any relationship like this and Logan & Sklar didn't shy away from that.
Up next is Displayed where we will see what is up next for our favorite couple rediscovering themselves in and out of the bedroom.
Spread is Untying the Knot book five, and it feels like a turning point in Allie and Erik’s journey. Not because everything suddenly changes, but because they finally step fully outside their comfort zone. Together.
This book dives into the nerves and excitement of exploring something bigger than just their bedroom. Visiting Club Noir isn’t written as shock value. It feels like what it actually is for them: intimidating, intriguing, and a little vulnerable. I loved that the story allows space for both confidence and hesitation. It doesn’t pretend growth is effortless.
Allie’s development continues to be one of my favorite parts of this series. She’s still balancing work, motherhood, and the behind the scenes effort that comes with both. She's also learning that her desires don’t disappear just because she’s busy. Watching her embrace submission as something empowering and not diminishing feels satisfying. It’s not about losing herself. It’s about choosing to trust.
Erik’s role as “Sir” keeps evolving too, and what I love about that is his dominance is rooted in care. He doesn’t push to prove anything. He listens. He reassures. He checks in. Even when they’re experimenting with new dynamics, the foundation of their relationship stays solid. I love that consistency.
I also appreciated how this book shows that exploring kink isn’t just about physical experiences. It is also about communication. They talk through fears. They set limits. They reflect afterward. It reinforces that intimacy only deepens when honesty does.
There’s something really comforting about seeing a long-married couple still curious about each other. I love that “Let’s try,” and “trusting the person beside you to hold you steady if you wobble” energy.
As always, be mindful of any trigger warnings, what I like, you may not.
Allie and Erik visit Club Noir in this installment. They unknowingly place themselves in a place they weren’t aware of. Maybe it’s my detail oriented brain, but I would think newbies to a Club would be offered some guidance prior to entering, just so they don’t find themselves in a situation they don’t intend.
I will say that I was with Allie in regard to what Erik did at the table. That should have been something they discussed. I understand he is the dominant in their situation, and maybe it’s his complete lack of any type of training, but Erik needs to remember they are a couple.
I have a feeling there may be some situations Allie finds herself involved with that she won’t personally enjoy truly. I have a feeling there will be some tension between the couple arising from situations Erik pushes. i
I’m used to Logan Black’s writing making me laugh, and while this book wasn’t full of humor, it was tastefully written with just a little bit of wit. Joining Black is Skylar Quinn, a powerhouse spicy romance writer in her own right, or should I say “write”? Spread was about the journey of a married couple taking baby steps into the world of BDSM as a way to bring back the intimacy in their relationship. The couple start their journey at home and finally get brave enough to go to a club called Noir. Which is humor in itself because if you know Black’s Danny Diamond books, they are a throwback to the Noir ‘40s. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the books in the Untying the Knot series.
Erik takes Allie on a date night adventure she’ll never forget.
Of all the stories I’ve read from the writing team of Quinn & Black this series continues to be my favorite. The portrayal of Erik and Allie’s work-a-day life is the perfect counterpoint to their after hours exploration of their erotic fantasies. Each book taking them deeper into the depths of their desires—this time at a club where Allie finds herself bound and exposed.
I love these characters, the writing is top notch, and I look forward to each new book to see where this couple takes us next. Definitely a recommend.
Each book in the Untying the Knot series follows a married couple, Erik and Allie, as they experiment with a BDSM element. In Spread, Erik surprises Allie with a date night. In romance books, the main male characters are rarely married from the beginning of the series. I love that they are working on adding spice to their relationship, and as you can probably guess from the cover, they try out a St. Andrew's Cross. There is a teaser at the end for the rest of the series.
Spread is a fun continuation of Allie and Erik’s BDSM exploration, and I’m loving how Erik is turning into a kid in a candy store and how dedicated he is to her pleasure. I’m starting to find Allie’s constant opposition a little tiring, but I appreciated the way this installment expands their communication, tests some boundaries, and adds some “vocabulary lessons” along the way. Hospitality really can mean different things when context matters ;)

This is the next installment of this hot series that showcases a couple, Erik and Allie, looking to spice things up in their marriage/bedroom, only this one has them heading off to a spicy club. With how life interrupts us, and just gets in the way at the worst times, this series has been really relatable. And definitely steamy ;P I'm looking forward to the next book in the series :D
Book 5 of our married couple with three boys expanding their sex life into BDSM. Actually going on a sex club date. The St. Andrews cross catches their eye. And who knew.....a c-section scar and stretch marks are sexy. Being married and trusting each other is priceless.
