The Whitley Brothers #4

Un fuoco di passione (I fratelli Whitley)

Rate this book

Colton is driven, ruthless, and a complete workaholic. The one thing he’s lacking is communication skills and that’s where Zoey comes into play. From the moment she steps into Colton’s office, he’s got one goal in mind and that’s getting rid of Zoey. But, no matter how hard he tries, he can’t shake this persistent and determined woman. The more time they spend together, the more Colton starts seeing Zoey in a different light. She’s everything he could ever want, but completely off-limits.

Flirting with the CEO is a delightful romance that can be read and enjoyed as a standalone romance. I am a complete sucker for grumpy sunshine and matchmaker romances, so this story was right up my alley. I absolutely adored Colton and Zoey together. Colton was grumpy and only focused on getting his job done. When Zoey blew into his life, she completely turned everything upside down. Zoey had a huge heart but wasn’t afraid to go head-to-head with Colton. She challenged him and brought out a side of him that I never saw coming. I thought Colton and Zoey had incredible chemistry and thoroughly enjoyed watching their story play out.

Now, I can’t forget to mention Colton’s grandmother. She was an absolute hoot! She only wanted what was best for her family and wasn’t afraid to meddle in her grandsons’ lives to get what she wanted. She certainly kept me on my toes and has me excited to check out the previous books in this series so I can experience all of her meddling ways.

If you’re looking for a fun and swoon-worthy grumpy sunshine romance, you won’t want to miss Flirting with the CEO.

I loved the premise of this book, but unfortunately I didn't love the execution. This was insta-love times 1000. Within days they were in love and it just felt so fast that I couldn't buy into it so everything after that made me roll my eyes. I think if the build up lasted longer and we'd seen the characters connect and feelings develop over a longer period of time I would have enjoyed it more.

Instalove

This was a quick read.
I didn't like how quickly they hooked up and became infatuated. I like a bit of instalove but I didn't get much of the personalities so it didn't quite hit for me.
Also there wasn't much to the story, no tension. I was expecting the standard 75% drama or miscommunication (pet hate) but there was nothing. They literally get together and that's that. Fluffy

Layla Hagen has done it again! I absolutely LOVED Flirting with the CEO! I loved every moment on every page of Flirting with the CEO, the fourth book in her The Whitley Brothers series, it filled me with a rollercoaster of emotions, and it was impossible to put it down. Layla Hagen definitely did not disappoint her readers with Flirting with the CEO and has once again delivered an incredible story filled with everything that I love in sizzling romance stories. I love how Layla Hagen continues to write the love stories that I love to read. Who does not love hot sexy men, who make you swoon, strong females, loving families, and friends, who always support one another, and wonderful characters? I love how Layla Hagen always manages to create the "perfect" heroine, who is a strong woman on her own, to balance out the sexy, swoon worthy men. One of my favorite parts of her books is how she incorporates the picture on the cover of the book into the love story. I am not sure how she does it, but Layla Hagen has once again given her readers another amazing book. She has once again proven that she is an amazing storyteller and continues to be one of my favorite authors. I really enjoy how she writes her stories in the first person from the perspective of the main characters. My favorite moments in Flirting with the CEO are the lighter moments where I found myself smiling and laughing aloud. I also love the parts that pull at my heartstrings, as I read the heartbreaking moments. Flirting with the CEO is filled with such moments, and with so much more. Flirting with the CEO is filled with all those elements that I have come to love and expect in a Layla Hagen love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Flirting with the CEO is the love story of Colton Whitley, CEO of Whitley Biotech, and Zoey Thomas, an organizational management consultant for The Consulting Experts. Zoey is hired by Whitley Biotech to help Colton become more efficient at his job; Colton is not thrilled with this decision. Zoey defines Colton as a grumpy workaholic. Colton does not want to get involved with Zoey and repeat the sins of his father. Things heat up quickly between Zoey and Colton as they spend time together with Zoey helping Colton with his organizational skills. Conversation between Zoey and Colton flows so easily, with innuendos and playful banter, and Colton constantly flirting with Zoey. I love the secrets that Zoey shares about her upbringing and how the direction of Colton’s live changed with the death of his mother from cancer. I love all the changes that Colton makes in his life with the help from Zoey. I love everything that Colton does for Zoey to help eliminate things from her bucket list. I love Zoey and Colton’s love story, and how a plot twist changes helps Colton how important Zoey is to him, and how his brother’s significant others assist Colton with a surprise for Zoey, loved the surprise. Colton realizes what he must do if he wants Zoey to be part of his life. I love that Colton and Zoey admit their true feelings for one another. Layla Hagen creates such wonderful and memorable characters and has once again done this in Flirting with the CEO. I love Zoey and Colton’s story and the descriptions of the Boston setting. I love the characters and the family dynamic in Flirting with the CEO, the characters feel like family and friends. I enjoy all the interactions among the Whitley brothers, it feels like real family love and makes me laugh at their teasing. My favorite characters are Grandmother and Grandfather, Jeannie, and Abe Whitley. I loved the bittersweet and poignant moments, as well as the unexpected plot twists, that I have come to love and expect in a Layla Hagen love story. Flirting with the CEO was a wonderful love story. I love that the ending of Zoey and Colton’s love story was more than a happily ever after. My favorite part of the story is Colton’s proposal to Zoey, the surprise part of his proposal and how it did not happen as Colton had planned. I also love the ending hints at the identity of the next Whitley sibling. I loved catching up with the Whitley siblings and cannot wait to read more books about the other Whitley brothers. Highly recommend this incredible love story. I received an advanced copy from the author.

4.5⭐

The Whitley brothers are back and this time work obsessed grump Colton takes centre stage.

When he is forced to work with Zoey Thomas an organisational management consultant. Who has been hired to get Colton: CEO of Whitley Biotetch more communicative, organised and focused. And maybe even have a better work/life balance.

And when his sweet matchmaking grandmother Jeannie engineers a meeting with Zoey she plants the idea of them dating. Something Colton is very reluctant to do for a number of reasons, including his father's past sins.

Yet, there is no denying Zoey is hot, and as he hesitantly spends time with her the sparks fly and so does the banter and innuendo.

Which leads to the pair getting hot and heavy. And to sharing some major secrets, including why Colton is so focused on his work at Whitley Biotech and to helping Zoey tick items off her bucket list.

But is this work obsessed grump really ready to make the changes Zoey is suggesting and is there really room for her and his work?

And with such likable and relatable characters and a great romance. Not to mention, the perfect amount of family feels, emotion, heat and sweetness. Flirting with the CEO was a genuinely wonderful romance and I'd happily recommend it and the series to all.

My thanks to Layla Hagen and WFMS for the opportunity to read an early copy of Flirting with the CEO. 😊

So 👏 dang 👏 good! I just stayed up until 2am to read this in one sitting and it was worth all the coffee I'm going to need in 4 hours, TGIF!

Grumpy/Sunshine in a workplace was the ultimate setting. I've loved following along with the brothers in this series as they each find their own HEA, and Colton's story was one I've been excited for.

Colton is an extreme workaholic when Zoey enters his life, and she's the last thing he wants as a distraction. The almost-enemy vibe between them from the start will draw you in until you can't put it down.

The extended family of siblings was enjoyable as always, and I especially loved seeing the grandparents make appearances as well. This series is one of my favorites and I can't wait for more!

This was so cute and perfect. It had it's drama but they handled it well. Colton and Zoey were perfect and not the "workplace romance" he was so afraid of. It was also very 🥵. The chemistry was great and it was well written

Oh where do I even begin with this one? I enjoyed it at first but then I realized the characters lacked. Whether it was depth or personality, I’m not sure. It’s like the writing changes about a quarter of the way in and everything was just so awkward and not complex. There wasn’t ever really a stage in this book that had any true conflict. I’m not a fan of third act breakups but this story gave nothing. No angst or passion just. Idk. New to me author. Might read the first few books of this series to see if they’re any better but not too sure.

could not finish

Just terrible

DNF 33%
He’s a total control freak. 1000% business hardly time for anything, family included.
But he meets the new consultant for his business (reluctantly) and completely loses his mind over her?
She’s a consummate professional. But she lusts after him at first sight?
Puleeze.
Too stupid for words.
I love the Maxwell family series but this Whitley series just doesn’t sit well.

Repeat of the other books. Getting old. Not much of a story punctuated by sex. Characters stale. Just not a good read. Colton’s story could have been really fun.

This is book 4 in the Whitaker Brothers series and is the story of Colton and Zoey. This is a great story about different personalities that mesh together better than they expect and better than we think they should. He is a super focused grumpy workaholic and she is a super focused ray of sunshine. He doesn’t want to deal with her and she is determined that he will. Colton is quickly attracted to her but ready to get back to work until his matchmaking Granny makes a slick comment about how pretty Zoey is and maybe Colton should ask her out. Once she does this Colton is unable to stop thinking about it and they begin to spend more time together.

One of the things that I like best about Zoey is that Colton is able to see her human side and how her socializing doesn’t seem to get in the way of her success. She helps him decide that socializing with his family and colleagues is important and because her opinion matters so much to him, he does it more. Even though he was a complete jerk to her when they first met, he very quickly showed his heart by treating her like the gold that she is. These two together are sweet and sexy along with ‘real’. They seem to find their ‘couple’ footing easily and quickly.

As in the previous stories, my favorite character is Grandmother. She is so smart and slick. She has known how to reach each of her grandsons so far without them really suspecting anything. I love watching her work and in this story, I love getting to see her husband doting on her for a change and the boys stepping things up too.

Another favorite part of mine in this story was seeing the half brothers becoming more integrated. Colton and Jake were hard on those guys and this story seemed to really allow Colton to see these guys as damaged as he and his brothers were too. I love watching all the brothers getting along and getting on each other with their sarcasm and fun barbs, yet still remaining close. I have high hopes for a full integration soon!

While this brother isn’t my favorite, (go Spencer!) this was a good story and not to be missed. The dad drama bringing the guys closer, Grandmother’s issue and the heat between Colton and Zoey are great reasons to not miss this story!

All the swoons with this one! It was wonderful having Colton finally get his happily ever after with Zoey. He deserves happiness, especially with how much he puts into his work. It isn’t healthy, and Zoey gets him out of his shell and brings him back to life. He’s vibrant, full of energy and very sensual with Zoey. Who knew Mr scientist had it in him! I loved reading about their escapades and getting lost into each other. I loved how quickly he fell and how open he made himself to Zoey. Right off the bat he was vulnerable with her and wanted her to be very much in his life and business. She wanted the same for him and she returned his vulnerability by opening up to him as well. They didn’t have a crazy life but they talked about their experiences over the years and passions. Colton wanted to make her happy and she wanted him to be happy. They balanced each other out perfectly and soon Colton spends less time at work and more engrossed with his family and Zoey. This is all I wanted for him and I’m happy he found this with her and loosened his control over all the research he does and running the biotech business. Zoey and Colton talked about everything and worked things out. Every time he would get stressed from work, she would bring him back to earth and relax him. I’ve loved all the Whitley Brothers and enjoyed reading about them all falling in love and I cannot wait to see what Layla does with Gabe. This was strictly a romance story. You get all the heat, feels and connection between Colton and Zoey that I love to read about. There is an emotional connection between the two of them which they thoroughly explore and I am here for it! This definitely deserves 5 stars from me.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my ovaries! Colton Whitley is sooo swoon worthy! When the grumpy billionaire boss is as moody as a teenager at school, he’s cranky, but he’s hot and super smart! Just imagine those babies?!?! But me Whitley is about to meet his match… welcome Zoey Thomas… she’s about whip Colton into line then into her heart! And it wouldn’t be a Whitley story without grandmother, Jeannie Whitley doing her matchmaking best, this was a little out if her control but but without love and laughter.

Zoey had been seen to Whitley Biotech to “help” Colton Whitley with his organising and correspondence. The man can science like no one else but his people skills lack… well skills! His frosty welcome doesn’t deter Zoey, she’s got a job to do and those blue eyes, sexy booming voice or bad attitude won’t stop her. Set for a fight she’s very forthcoming with what she requires from Colton, he’s not happy but her Perseverance has him paying attention. Add a visit from his grandmother, and an inappropriate comment, and the world of Colton turns on its axis! He all of a sudden finds himself wanting her inout, nosiness and push…

The man with no people skills finds himself a man socialising, but one woman Is the reason, and none more then his family are more surprised! Zoey opened a gold heart to a warm ball of sexiness. Their coupling is sweet, sassy, sexy and beautiful.

Colton Whitley is not my favourite family member, but his story is definitely 💯 amazing!!!

I’ve been curious about Colton. He always seemed grumpy and removed from the family. He is extremely smart. Whitley Biotech is very successful. Getting to know him was really great.

Turns out, Colton is pretty grumpy but his life is all about work. He’s been so obsessed with his last formula and worked so hard at it, he missed a lot of time with his family. Now, the formula is a success and he is working on spending more time with his family. It was never that he didn’t care, he would just get so involved in the lab that he lost track of time, often sleeping in the lab.

Zoey is hired by his production company to organize him. She has to find a way past grumpy, control freak and help him be more responsive to issues outside the lab. She is a strong, positive woman and great at her job.

Grandma Whitley gets involved matchmaking again. She is such a great character. She visits Colton at the office and plants the idea of dating Zoey in Colton’s head. He is completely against the idea at first but that changes quickly as he thinks about the conversation with his Grandmother.

The characters in this book are so real and very relatable. I love the personalities and how they respond to each other. Every book we get a little more insight into the family. We watch as everyone lives their lives. The books always focus on one couple but we follow the whole family thru every story.

I can’t say enough positive things about Layla Hagen. She is a fabulous writer and I just adore her stories.

Man oh man, these Whitley Brothers sure are swoon worthy. “Flirting with the CEO” is a sweet, romantic and steamy story that is a great addition to the series.

Colton Whitley is a grumpy workaholic and his focus is Whitley Biotech and making it successful. His business partners disagree and hire Zoey Thomas to help de-grumpy him and help him communicate better with everyone. Colton is determined to push Zoey away but she isn't easily pushed away. She makes it her mission to help Colton whatever it takes. As Zoey starts working her magic, it’s clear that there is a spark between them.

I love a grumpy/sunshine storyline; Colton and Zoey were a perfect version of both. Colton is grumpy but also cares deeply for his family which shines throughout the whole book. He’s close with his brother, grandparents and is working on his relationship with his half brothers. Zoey is the sunshine that has been missing and I loved her from the very beginning. She’s confident in who she is a person and as a worker. I loved how she never backed down from Colton’s grumpiness. Colton is so romantic and he had me swoony with all the sweet ways he showed Zoey that he cared. Their steamy times were delicious. I loved Grandma Whitley meddling in the best way for her grandsons and I can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.

This is Colton’s story. In this story we are introduced to Zoey who was hired by Colton’s board to help him in his communication and organizational skills. We really didn’t know much about Colton other then he was a workaholic bio-tech scientist. Colton is very stern and some could consider abrasive. Colton was straight to the point and only cared about his family and his research. He loved his family and would do anything for them especially his grandparents. Colton was taken by Zoey when he first met her but was determined to not act on his feelings because he was not his father. Well that last all of 2 weeks! As if Colton was not taken by Zoey already when there was a scare involving his grandmother, the Bio-Tech CEO was done for! In the other books in the series Colton was always the “grumpy” one the one that you thought couldn’t be bothered actually had a fun side. Zoey brought out the best in him and he liked what he saw. The relationship that this family has and considering how they were always there for each other even the “half brothers” was nice and the banter between all of them was great. I found myself laughing out loud several times. Colton was very hard on his half brothers, it was nice to see him lower his anger and resentment against them and finally called them brothers not half brothers. Grandmother strikes again with another successful match.

I really loved Colton and Zoey's story, I was hooked from the beginning. Each book in the series concentrates on a brother but they can be read as standalones.

Colton and Zoey were opposites but perfect for each other. He was a workaholic but Zoey consults with his company and has the task of trying to convince him to communicate more and delegate.

They fall fast and they fall hard for each other, and his brothers are very amused by the change in him. Zoey was really likeable but was no push-over, making sure he spent time away from work. They communicated but there was also so much chemistry between them, they could not keep their hands off each other.

I enjoyed the family dynamics, with so many brothers there was lots of banter but also a ton of love and friendship. The story isn't just about the romance, there are family issues to sort out and discuss, which gives us a chance to meet all the brothers, partners, and the grandparents. I love conversations in books, I think you get to know the characters so much more by the way they interact with each other, and there were loads in this book.

The book was easy to read, easy to get pulled into the story, and easy to love the characters.

This book is a delightful contemporary romance novel that will leave you swooning. The story follows the relationship between Emily and Dylan, two successful professionals who find themselves working together on a project. From the moment they meet, there is an undeniable spark between them, and the tension between them builds as they try to resist their attraction to each other.

One of the things I loved about this book was the well-developed characters. Emily and Dylan are both complex and interesting, with their own unique personalities and backstories. I found myself rooting for them throughout the book, and I was invested in their relationship from the beginning.

The writing is also excellent, as per usual. Layla Hagen has a way with words that draws you in and keeps you engaged. The pacing of the story is just right, with enough twists and turns to keep things interesting without feeling contrived.

Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance novels. While some parts of the story may be predictable, the well-developed characters and engaging writing more than make up for it. This book is a must-read for fans of the genre, and I can't wait to read more from Layla Hagen in the future.

I waited for this book as one waits for water in the middle of the desert with 45 degrees in the shade.

Colton you are a grumpy workaholic with communication skills issues, you definitely need a babysitter. And Zoey, my bossy girl, is the perfect solution for you. The sexy scientist in the suit and lab coat is my new guilty pleasure, I 100% get you Zoey.
That was really fats, page 34 and you admit you are attracted by her. He's completely into her. No way.
I would have put my hand on it that they would have done their dirty things in that lab. I was true.
Scientist, CEO and boxer? I'm sat. Do with me what you want.
Your mouth, Colton, I can melt.
But him making sure they have her favourite dessert in the restaurant? Aww. And the necklace and the mortgage?

I think the most hilarious moments in the books are when the brothers discover that someone is falling in love and that Grandma was actually right and that it will soon be their turn to enter Grandma's cupid's sights

"Ho bisogno di avere il controllo totale"

"Quando ci sei di mezzo tu i limiti non contano Zoey. Non riesco a farne a meno. Sto combattendo contro me stesso dal primo giorno in cui sei entrato nel mio laboratorio"

"Ho appena deciso che sei il migliore di tutti i supereroi messi insieme"

"Non avevo bisogno di lavorare. Avevo bisogno di te"

Sunshine heroine meets grumpy hero in Layla Hagen’s latest!
Colton Whitley is a successful CEO complete with all the skills needed to achieve his he’s demanding, rude, and likes to call the shots.
He also has absolutely no communication skills whatsoever. My job is to change that. Did I mention he’s my new client and the biggest challenge of my career?

But I’m a go-getter. I can deal with an infuriating blue-eyed, dark-haired hunk of a man who makes my toes curl ... You get the picture.

One day he misses our appointment—probably on purpose—so I hunt down his tight-lipped assistant to get Colton’s whereabouts.

Lo and behold, my sexy CEO is also a boxer who likes to blow off steam in the ring!
I can’t wrap my mind around these contradictory sides of him.

What do you get when you fall for your grumpy client who’s married to his work? A hot, mouthwatering, delicious mess.

Loved Colton & Zoey's story. Was immediately hooked within the first few pages. Their story was beautifully written and heartfelt. Lots of chemistry between these two. Colton was swoon worthy!!
Highly recommend.

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is Colton Whitley's book, and he is the eldest brother who runs his own company which is a biotech company, and they are working on bringing a supplement to market and that's when Zoey enters his life.

Zoey is an organizational consultant. She is hired to organize Colton and help him be a better communicator. Colton does not like having someone looking over his shoulder, so as you can imagine things start off a bit rocky.

This is at workplace NON forbidden romance. I liked that it was really just two people who work together fall in lust and then enjoy getting to know each other and being there for each other. It's an open, honest relationship even among the business with no secrets from each other or their friends and family.

I also loved the familial relationships. Both come from very different families but are also very close to their families. It has a matchmaking granny and is very low on drama. It was just so much fun watching Colton and Zoey fall for each other and support each other not only in the work setting but also among their families.

Yet again, this is another brilliant story about The Whitley Brothers. I think Colton might just be my favourite so far. I love a brooding man who gets brought to his knees by a smart and powerful woman. And Zoey does that at every turn. She's no pushover and holds Colton accountable.

This book doesn't just focus on Colton and Zoey. The brothers and grandparents all make appearances, and I'd say one of the storylines that run through this book involves them all. But I won't spoil that. This book had no drama revolving around the main couple, which I really liked. It's quite refreshing to read.

This book and series today is a huge recommendation from me.

Colton Whitley is a grumpy workaholic who is also CEO of Whitley Industries, Biotech division. His staff complains of his behavior and not willing to delegate tasks that others are more than capable of accomplishing to free up some of his time. His family complains of Colton always missing out with the family because he’s always working, sometimes sleeping in his lab. Zoey Thomas was hired as a personal organizational consultant to help Colton learn how to organize his workload and potentially free up some time for him and settle the grumpy boss down. Colton wasn’t even interested in giving her 5 minutes when she first arrived. However, Zoey didn’t give him an option. After much back and forth Zoey won him over and in a big way. Her original contract was for a year but she got Colton on board in 4 months. I won’t give it all away, but during that time sparks were flying all over the place with those two. Ms. Hagen has done it again with another great story, one that you will have to read for sure!

Oh these books in the series just keep getting better and better. I think Colton might be my favorite so far. The character growth as we sail through the pages is eye opening. As this grumpy workaholic begins to see the joy of spending some time with other while still being a solid CEO.

Colton wants nothing to do with the communicaitons expect the partnered company sends his way. No matter how hard he tries to discourage Zoey and send her packing she sticks to the plan of helping him get better at all the parts of his job. Colton and Zoey were not looking for this attraction and chemistry but it really was impossible to ignore. As they venture through spending time together and working beside each other, they are working to something more.

The side story is a good one and helps bring Colton closer with his half brothers as they provide a united front. Grandmother is up to her antics once again.

This book and series are highly recommended in my books.

This was such a fun read we found ourselves smiling and laughing throughout the entire book. Loved Zoey's sense of humor and the words that came out of her mouth made you chuckle.

Loved the busybody brothers with the laughing and ribbing each other they were so much fun. Colton's grandparents were the bomb, especially their match-making gran she was priceless.

This was a fast-paced read with tons of sexy times, chemistry, and a ton of humor. Loved seeing Colton turn from Grumpy into the sexy panty-melting devil he had become.

This couple we a ton of fun and is definitely one of our favorite couples in this series. This couple kept their relationship light and easy but, one thing Zoey was not going to stand for was to be a doormat for any man no matter how sexy he was. Loved her straightforwardness so that there would not be misunderstandings in their relationship. Loved seeing their love blossom throughout the story it was a beautiful thing to see. A match made in heaven who knew? Grandmother did...
