I read this short book in one gulp, but I will likely refer back to it to dig deeper. I like how Sue framed the different stages of grief as cocooning, adapting, and emerging. But also reassured the reader that you might dip in and out of the different stages. There's no right way to do it. I also liked the reminder that two things can be true at once. You can be sad and relieved at the same time. Learning how to hold both feelings is important not only in grief and loss but also in life! The playbook chapter has many great nuggets, but it's not overly prescriptive. It's a great read for anyone looking to make sense of all the feelings loss brings up, without being overly self-helpy.

A true companion and encouraging playbook for anyone who has experienced loss, in any form - a divorce, a death of a loved one, or a job. Sue weaves her own story of loss together with lessons learned, which she graciously shares with the reader. By providing concrete tools like 'actionable hope', how to say 'yes' when you feel like saying 'no', and crafting your 'list of regulators', Sue paves a way forward and helps the reader to shift their mindset. A must read for all human beings!
