When the Kratos, God of War steps down from his position on Mount Olympus to became a mere mortal on South Beach, things don't run according to plan. For the last two years, Wyatt and Marissa have operated under the radar of the supernatural realm until they meet and instantly become star-crossed lovers. On her wedding day, Marissa receives a visit from one of the Fates warning her of those who wish her harm and foretelling a prophesy involving her unborn child. Hours later Wyatt suddenly loses his ability to breathe while asleep. As the ancient curse that plagues all mermaids who dare marry a mortal is played out, the immortals didn't count on the ability of Wyatt and Marissa to harness the power of their love to triumph over the ill-fated odds.
I was beginning to despair for something original so this gem made my week. Not overly heavy but with a lot to get my temperature rising! There wasn't much I didn't like about it . Sizzling characters and a storyline that moves along quite quickly, it made my commute a real pleasure.
I can't hand on heart say this was the most original storyline but I really like the authors style of writing and the characters were great. The setting makes it an ideal summer sun read and I would without a doubt read another book from Susan Taylor
I received this book from Susan Taylor and “Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock” in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book in a series. It picks up with Marissa healing from her shoulder wound, and it continues on in her discovery of power and purpose.
The plot was very intriguing. The magical world that Taylor creates is just awesome. I loved how she incorporated Zeus, the fates, mermaids, etc. The plot was full of twists and turns. Marissa and Wyatt are very much in love and it shows in Susan’s writing.
I didn’t care for the slow start of the story. I also found myself growing very annoyed with the whole “talking in riddles” charades. It got old quick.
Ultimately, I did find myself getting restless with the length of the book. It was long, and could have been summed up in fewer pages. The first 25 percent of the book was filler and lacked substance. Over all, this was a 3 fang read for me.
This story follows Marissa and Wyatt as they both discover their pasts. This dramatic second book in the series was so much more in depth, detailed than the first. There were a few editing mistakes that can quickly be fixed. It doesn't necessarily take away from the story. You meet a great cast of characters that just make you love this series even more~!
Highly suggest you read book one of this series as this is the second book in it. Susan Taylor was a new to me author that I was very impressed with! Her book is well written, easy to read and follow. It has lots of twist and turns that will keep you guessing the next step. Well worth buying and reading!
