Speedy, cute, insta-love read! Chaz and Dakota were a great couple, and I enjoyed how much they wanted the same thing. Tentative, at first, I enjoyed how brave they were in declaring their desires for each other and the future.

Quickie Review: This was a new to me author and the book was absolutely sweet as can be. The title claims that we are dealing with a grumpy mountain man, but I found Chaz anything but. To me he was so precious and his feelings for Dakota was instant. Just the overall chemistry between the two was amazing. This was a great, quick read and I truly adored it. 5 Stars.

He didn't know she was a pool hustler.
Dakota is a contestant in a national baking contest. The winner will receive $50,000 and help in opening a bakery. Hers will be Dakota’s Desserts and will be opened in Seduction Summit, which has no bakery. It's the town over from Adairsville, where she was born and raised. They will be baking inside a tent during the competition. She's snuck into the tent early to do some baking. In getting ready for the competition, she forgot a very important item: samples for the judges. No one else has brought a cake big enough to slice for servings. So she'll bake her cake early, and no one will be the wiser. It would have been a great plan, if not for Chaz...
Chaz's boss had been harping at him to cut down a large tree that had been missed when they were last in the area. He finally got around to doing the job, not realizing there was someone in the tent by the tree, let alone that she was baking a cake. A cake that fell due to the huge vibration when the tree hit the ground.
Chaz has never seen this woman before, and he had sworn he'd never get involved with an out-of-towner again, but there's just something about this woman that calls to him. Later that day, she finds him working. He admitted he planned to go to the lounge at the resort in hopes of running into her. So they arrange to meet after he gets off work. She explained that she'd been told that she didn't have enough experience to be in the competition and had been asked to leave. He offers to tell the judges that it was his fault that her cake failed, but she'd already realized that she was in no way ready for a competition like this one.
She can't pinpoint exactly what it is about Chaz, but she feels safe with him, and he seems to ground her, something she needs to become the best version of herself possible.
She's surprised to learn that unlike what she thought about him, he doesn't want to live alone in a mountain cabin until he dies; he wants a wife and a family of two children. He was an only child and always wanted a sibling. He was raised by a mother who's always had questionable taste in men. When he was fourteen, she married a man, and they moved to Adairsville, where she lives. The marriage failed, and after he got out of the military, he moved back to keep an eye on her. She, too, was an only child, but her parents have been happily married for twenty-five years.
That's the type of marriage she wants. Oops, did she just scare him off by mentioning the "m" word on a first date?

DAKOTA is at a baking competition in in Seduction Summit when she remembers she doesn't have anything to give to the judges. So she's sneaking into a tent to use the oven to bake something. She needs the winner's prize to open up her own shop Dakota's Desserts. Then she hears a hum..there's a truck coming. Then she hears a buzz..chainsaw. But she powers through. Her cake is done but the middle has fallen. AAAAAAAAAAARGH! Someone is going to pay for this folly.
CHAZ's boss was badgering him into going back to take down one tree that was forgotten. To his surprise the most gorgeous woman he's ever seen heads to him to berate him. Eventually he leaves before he loses his wits any more.
DAKOTA is at the competition and knows she doesn't belong here. She's asked to go outside the tent where one of the judges meet her to tell her she really doesn't belong with the rest. But before she leaves she wants to see the hunky man again. So she finds out how to get to where she thinks she hears him chopping down trees. They talk and she invites him to dinner. They head to another town just miles away. On the way they talk about family, marriage, kids and their lives.
WEll nothing like beating around the bushes. The two are thinking similiar thoughts but not really saying it out loud. More like ,ok the work is , beating are the bushes. They are each signaling the other what they want in life, what they like and eyeing each other up.
Will they ever get to the real important part of their attraction?
A cute story that will have the reader giggle at some of their reparte.

Dakota snuck into the event baking tent to make a cake so that she would have something to give out at the event. She wanted to win and have her dream of Dakota’s Desserts in town. As Seduction Summit still didn’t have a bakery. Chaz had been yelled at for missing cutting down a tree so he does. But, the impact causes Dakota’s cake to turn into a Bundt and she is upset. The lumberjacks didn’t know about the event and the event didn’t know that the lumberjacks would be working that particular area. After the introductory cake and one other event, Dakota ends up out of the competition. I won’t say everything on about that. So she finds Chaz and they talk. He is upset for her and tells her that if baking doesn’t work, she has it in her to still run her own business. Chaz had been in the military and he realizes that Dakota is the one for him. ‘Kota has feelings for him and things progress quickly between them and it gets romantic and steamy, I so needed the AC on. He is defo on the grumpy side and a mountain man on top of that. We get to meet his fellow lumberjacks later on. I laughed a nice amount during this book. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Dakota is at the baking competition in Seduction Summit. It's early morning, and she's out in the baking tent trying to make something to give to the judges. Which, apparently, everybody else knew they had to do, but she didn't. She really doesn't think she's cut out for this.
Her cake is in the oven when she hears noise from outside the tent. She's not even supposed to be there, so she doesn't look to see what it is. A little while later, there's a loud crash, and everything shakes. Oh, no! Checking her cake in the oven - it's fallen! She storms outside to find out what was going on, only to find a grumpy lumberjack who just felled a tree! Hot, but grumpy.
Chaz was just there fixing what got missed before, and suddenly this angry little spitfire was yelling at him about a cake? But he can't say that seeing her all fired up doesn't do something to him.
After finding out that baking really isn't her thing, all Dakota can think about is finding the guy that she met. She didn't know what it was about him, but she needed to see him again.
This was a fun, quick read, with a little baking drama and a very interesting game of pool. (Hint - they both won!) These lumberjacks are definitely heating things up!

This one was just ok for me…
Things I liked about it…
- it did have a HEA
- Chaz did try to be supportive of Dakota initially with her baking
- the writing itself was smooth, easy to read, well edited
Things I didn’t like as much…
- I didn’t like that both Chaz and Dakota seemed so unsure of things…There were so many opportunities for either of them to put themselves out there, or even seem passionate about having a relationship, they both just seemed so timid, although I suppose they both had had bad relationships in the past. It was noted several times that Dakota has had multiple dates who just walked away if anything long term was mentioned, and Chaz noted several times that he had had a failed long distance relationship, as well as that when he thought someone was going to hurt him he just bailed as a self defense mechanism. I think I just like my characters with more passion…
- I think I just like a little more OTT in my books…so if you are into the calmer more sweet and slow going romance then this might be a better read for you.

A naughty pool game
Grumpy Mountain Man is the first book in the Seduction Summit Lumberjacks series, a spin-off from the Seduction Summit series. Dakota has a dream, well at least she does if she can win a baking contest that is being held at Seduction Summit. But Dakota may be able to bake but she is not a professional and things go awry for her pretty quickly. It all kicks off when a big tree falls close to the baking tent that ends with her cake falling in the middle, the cake she was trying to make to hand out to the judges as a treat. Chaz is the big and sexy lumberjack who felled the tree which led to a very angry young woman standing there giving him the evil eye and more than a mouthful of fury. She ignites a spark in Chaz that he is tempted to light. One date, a nice meal, a sexy pool game and things are getting hot on the felt and beyond.
This was an entertaining book with a fun story-line and nice characters. It is an insta-lust/attraction that sparks some back and forth and then ignites into a sexy romp and a sweet and hot HEA.

The Best Part of this was the Guy on the Cover!
I wasn’t sure about this story. And I guess to the end I still wasn’t. It was a decent read but not as good as past stories Lilah has written. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ maybe it was the whole competition with the baking that made me not a total fan. Dakota came very far (10 minutes away 😂😂) to be in a National Baking Competition at the Seduction Summit Ski Lodge. All the contestants had to make something to present to the judges but Dakota had forgotten. She got up very early the first day and snuck into the baking location to fix a cake that she’d made so many times before so she’d have something to present. Well as the cake was in the oven almost done she heard what sounded like a chain saw. As the tree hit the ground it toppled and hit the ground her cake fell in the middle. Angry she went outside to find who did this. She came across Chaz who had forgotten to take down this one tree before his boss could find out. Well… 🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜😊😊😊

The Seduction Summit Lodge is the hub of activity in the mountain town of Seduction Summit. The newest event is a national baking competition with the prize of $50k. Dakota is a local girl that wants to win so she can open a bakery in town. Chaz is a lumberjack with a local logging company. Dakota and Chaz meet when he is sent to cut a tree that is next to the contestant’s baking tent, and it causes her cake to fall. It is love at first glance. One of my favorite lines in the story is “Maybe the second I’d seen her, standing outside the tent – hands on hips, fury in her eyes – I’d been a goner.”
The story is fast-paced, and the author has done a wonderful job of creating an interesting plot and characters, and excellent world building. I recommend this book for readers that like short, insta-love, age-gap, small town, mountain man, spicy romance stories.

Dakota's aspiration to be a renowned baker unfortunately took a meteoric downfall before it had a chance to rise. However, who needs a national baking fame when one has encountered the most captivating mountain man in the state? Chaz, embracing his father's motto, "Every problem has a solution," aims to persuade Dakota that their destinies are intertwined since their first meeting. Love and cakes conquer all, and Chaz might have the ideal solution.
I thoroughly enjoyed Chaz's grumpy yet endearing personality. Their connection is exceptional, their passion intense and electrifying. The story was engaging, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Dakota dreams of opening her own bakery so she enters a baking competition, the only problem is she can't bake! She is dismissed from the competition but meets a handsome lumberjack and the rest is history.
I loved this fast-paced insta-love story with great characters and great chemistry. It was interesting how the story and their relationship developed and I also really enjoyed the extra bonus scene when you subscribe to the author's mailing list - don't miss that! This is the first in a series and I can't wait to see where the author takes the stories to this time. Also if you enjoyed this book, and haven't read the other series please do check it out for more short quick and steamy stories.

Seduction Summit is a place that draws in people from all around, and for many different reasons.
Dakota comes to the neighboring town to Seduction Summit for a baking competition. She knows she doesn't feel right, but she wants to make a dent in something she wants to do in her life.

There she meets a grumpy lumberjack, Chaz, when he cuts a tree down in the area of the baking tent where Dakota is trying to bake a cake before the contest starts. The tree makes the cake sink in the middle. When Dakota is eliminated in the baking rounds, she goes looking for Chaz. Why? They plan a date without Dakota telling Chaz that she is from the same town as him. Chaz worries about dating someone that is only there for the contest. What's his reaction when he learns the truth? The date conversation is interesting: what each of them are wanting in marriage!

After a felled tree spells disaster and leads to a chance encounter, can these 2 come together (pun intended) and find what they have both been searching for?
I found this book a quick, easy read which took me around an hour and a half to finish. I found myself rooting for both characters and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you like short and spicy reads, I would definitely recommend this book!.

Dakota is one of the contestants in the bake-off that is set to change her life. She is so stressed out because she forgot an important detail to make sure she has samples. So she sets out do to just that until a fallen cake gets in the way. She's about to lose it on the person who caused her stress when she comes to stand in front of the handsome mountain man Chaz. Chaz is just there to do his job so when a pint-size beauty starts in on him he can't help but want more from her. As they part way and Dakota goes off to do what she needs will she be able to fulfill her dreams? Or will they have changed now that she met Chaz? This couple was so cute.

The characters in this story were rrlateable with real world issues that made this book easy to get invested in. Dakota doesn't feel like she can find her place in the world, and Chaz is trying to deal with his solitude, though in a small town like Adairsville it's hard to meet 'new' people. There's an immediate connection between them, but the short term nature of her stay has him keeping his guard in place. The banter between them is realistic, and more than once I wanted to smack Dakota beside the head for her decisions (you'll understand!). Maybe that's part of what made these two so realistic to me. Give it a try.

Lilah Hart is a phenomenal artist with a niche for short, steamy, instant-attraction/love quick-reads that you will find yourself hooked on and returning to repeatedly! This book tells us the story of two people living in the same town (unbeknownst to each other) who dream of their fairytale forever, consisting of settling down and having a family with the one person meant for them...Dakota has scared off many a guy with her awkward talk about the "m" word (marriage), and so when Chaz brings it up during their first date, she wants to pinch herself to make sure it is all real and not just another dream!!!

4.5⭐️ Wanna-be Baker & Gruff Mountain Man find love
I read a LOT of Lilah Hart’s books. I love her ability to quickly develop characters, draw you in and give a quick, steamy story. In saying that, this was not my favorite of her stories. I had a harder time liking Dakota until further into the story. I just couldn’t connect with her. Chaz was a gruff, lonely (but didn’t realize he was) mountain man. Their spark was immediate, as in all Lilah’s books. If you like quick reads with lots of steam & a HEA, you will enjoy this book.

This is a short quick read about Dakota and Chaz, a lumber jack. Dakota is in a baking contest that could help her start her own bakery. She forgot to bring samples to hand out. She sneaks into the contestant tent to bake a cake. Someone is outside the tent with a chainsaw. When the tree falls so does her cake. She goes to confront the man with the chainsaw. Chaz is surprised when he is confronted by Dakota, no one was supposed to be out at this hour. She pours her heart out to him about her dream and gives up. Then she seeks him out. Strip pool sounds interesting. This is a cute story with some steamy bits.

Loved the meet cute for Dakota and Chaz. Dakota is all spitfire and sass and Chaz is just confused and trying to keep Dakota from crying. It's adorable and romantic and hilarious all at the same time. However, Dakota's cake goes flat and her pie is less than stellar, she is eliminated from a baking competition. Instead of leaving right away, she reconnects with the lumberjack Chaz who was working at the site of the baking contest. Can Chaz make 1 date turn into forever? Will Dakota's lie of omission of living in the same town as Chaz be a deal breaker? A great start to a new series set in Seduction Summitt.
