For the first time in his immortal faerie life, Emrys Hemlock is enjoying a sense of routine. He has a stable job (a first) that comes with a home, and his roommate Zackary is about to give into his seductive wiles. (He's not.)
But something fae and strange is killing young men on the shores of Lake Superior and it's up to Emrys to find out what it is with Zackary in tow, no matter how hard Emrys fights not to trust him.
Can Emrys' icy walls withstand the sparks beginning to fly between himself and Zackary? Or will the walls melt, setting both his heart and the investigation alight with unholy fire?
Imagine my surprise when I received an email from Finnely Ray announcing that the much-anticipated follow-up to *Angels & Exorcists* was finally available! You can bet I rushed to get my hands on a copy, and I’ll tell you—my expectations were more than met. Yes, I wanted more of Zackary and Emrys, and I was thrilled to find that this book centered solely on their story. They truly deserved their own spotlight, and oh, how beautifully their tale was woven! By the time I reached the last page, my heart swelled with love for them even more. Additionally, there was an exciting new twist—a fresh character appeared, and I immediately recognized their significance. Well done on that front; I really hope this character plays a key role in the next installment. Overall, it was another remarkable read. Once again, I was not disappointed, and now I find myself eagerly awaiting the next book!
Thank you Finnely Ray for sending me this advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a delightful snack to read, and jam packed with action and trauma bonding. I love seeing a complex character like Emrys work through their nasty brain weasels, and start to become a better person. I really enjoyed seeing the little bits of his true self underneath the douchecanoe mask he hides under, and get a whole lot more of his backstory too.
Thank you for the advanced reader copy of this book. I very much enjoyed this romp, the further development of the characters and relationship of Emrys and Zackery. I'm intrigued about what their adventure revealed about Maryam's background. I can't wait. Finn is a friend, and I am delighted to find he is actually and excellent author!
I found myself laughing as much as my heart broke. These two men are both hurting so much and yet, they care so deeply for themselves and their family's. Found or made.
I haven't read book 1 yet but I'm going to have to.
Even though this is book 1 1/2 there is enough world building and information that I was never lost. Nor was I overwhelmed. It only made me interested in what had come before this.
I will definitely be reading more from this author.
This was advertised as a stand alone but I felt behind on knowledge the whole book. That said, I did really like it and the plot did not cause any confusion. What made it really enjoyable was the characters, Emrys and Zachary especially. I'm planning on reading the first book when I can and revisiting this one.
(I received a free ebook in exchange for a review which did not effect my opinion)
