Obedient… I’m the girl who always does what she’s supposed to do. Some might call me a perfectionist, but it’s because I’m trying to make my parents proud. My life has been planned since birth and I never questioned it. Not until the day I’m kidnapped, and I see just how sheltered I’ve been. Fragile… After I’m captured, I land in a human trafficking ring, and I’m not sure I’ll ever escape. Day by day, everything I thought I knew is taken from me until I have nothing left to hold on to. Until a man wearing a Devil’s Regents cut rescues me, and I finally have a chance to be me. Indestructible… Given a second chance at life, I’m forced to come to terms with what happened to me. Do I give up or go on? That’s when Titan, the man who saved me, reminds me that I’m not some fragile object. I’m alive. With this god-like man at my side, I feel like anything is possible. And that maybe, just maybe, some things are worth fighting for. Sarah Bale's family always knew she would write romances when they saw the elaborate stories she created for her Barbie dolls. At fifteen she penned her first book, which will never see the light of day if she has any say.
When Sarah isn't writing, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and also planning what she’d do in a zombie apocalypse. One of her favorite pastimes is attending comic cons, where she can nerd out over all things Marvel.

We first meet Lucy in Olivia's book, Her Saviors. She is Liv's college dorm roommate. She plays a side character in Olivia's series, and her fate ends on a cliffhanger at the end of Her Sinners.
Titan, a nomad with the Devil's Regents, has been searching for the missing women for months. He finally tracks a lead to Sudan and arrives just in time.
Titan offers Lucy a port in the storm. A prisoner of war survivor, he understands what she is going through. They seek healing and refuge in Germany. Lucy has endured the unthinkable for months and comes out at the end a changed person. Will she find herself again? Will she ever go home?
Her Defender is Lucy's story leading up to her kidnapping, her imprisonment, and the aftermath of her ordeal. This book drew me in from the beginning. High anxiety, trauma, and suffering. It is very graphic. The trigger warnings are no lie.
We get a good look into Lucy's past, her tendency to "go along to get along," and how it leads to the traumatic events in the first part of this story. Her character arc is dramatic. There are a few flashbacks about her college days and her POV of events that occurred in Liv's books (Her Saviors, Her Saints, and Her Sinners).
My opinion of Lucy in Liv's trilogy was not high. She seemed shallow and self-absorbed. Her Defender provides context, and now it's obvious that Liv was not a very good friend either. These ladies are not acting like college seniors!
Also, what is up with Lucy's parents? Nagging their 23-year-old adult daughter about her grades? (This was the case with Chase, too, in the trilogy.) And then waiting WEEKS before they report her missing? Does no one notice she is gone? So sad!!
A few icks...Using the friend's house in Germany. The house is basically a sex dungeon, and I keep thinking about all the DNA and germs hanging around there.
This book had me crying for Lucy in one moment and then cheering for her the next. What a roller coaster. Titan is amazing. An absolute rock.
Now, I will finish out the series with Her Rebel and see what happens with Allison.
P. S. The reading order is not clear, so here it is. (at least it's not clear on Goodreads...)
Her Saviors (Olivia, Saint, King, Razor and Bash) Her Saints (Olivia, Saint, King, Razor and Bash) Her Sinners (Olivia, Saint, King, Razor and Bash) Her Outlaw (Danielle and Hawk) Her Defender (Lucy and Titan) Her Rebel (Allison and Ice)
The 5th book in this series doesn’t disappoint, resilient heroines, sexy heroes and solid storylines made for an enjoyable read. Sensitive readers should heed the authors warning. I recommend this book!
Awwww Titan and Lucy my heart. I love Titan the way he helped Lucy was beyond amazing. Lucy definitely went through the worst out of the girls Ugh broke my heart. I loved the ending.. Can't wait to see what happens with Allison. And I cannot believe Agent Hill is going to patch in.
