He’s Major League Baseball’s former power hitter, and now he’s making a play for her heart. Maggie doesn’t know why she’s in the small mountain town of Starrycard Creek. After a blow to the head leaves her with amnesia, all she has left is her name stitched onto an apron.
And then there’s him...the man who saved her life.
Christian Starrycard was trying to drown his sorrows after an injury ended his baseball career. The last thing he expected to become was a woman’s hero. But Maggie isn’t just any woman. She’s the woman he’s been dreaming of—his dream girl he thought existed only in his mind.
His dreams become their steamy reality when he insists she live with him until her memories return. When their attraction deepens into an undeniable love, they can’t imagine life apart. But when fragments of her past resurface, so does the fear that her heart might belong to someone else.
Christian can’t bear the thought.
Town folklore says that love is always in the cards in Starrycard Creek. And Christian won’t let Maggie go. Not without a fight.
The Baseball Card Boyfriend is book three in the Starrycard Creek Bachelors Series (steamy small-town romance). Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but reading the books in order will reveal Easter eggs and hidden gems.
Book 1 The Business Card Boyfriend (Grumpy/Sunshine, Roommates-to-Lovers) Book 2 The Birthday Card Boyfriend (Enemies-to-Lovers, Hero on the Autism Spectrum) Book 3 The Baseball Card Boyfriend (Former Baseball Star & Heroine with Amnesia)
USA Today Bestselling Author Krista Sandor writes steamy contemporary romance with toe-curlingly hot heroes and heroines you'll want as your best friends.
Heartbroken by the loss of her beloved grandparents as well as the betrayal of her long term boyfriend, Maggie finds herself without a family, job or a home, barreling through Colorado clutching remnants of a pie, a baseball card, and a stone all while surrounded by super fabulous geriatric drag queens. Seeing a scrawny pup with his collar caught on the railroad tracks with a train bearing down on him, she makes the driver stop so she can try to free the poor critter. In her haste she forgets the pie plate, her purse, and her luggage.
Retired permanently from a stellar but short baseball career due to a terrible injury, Christian has spent the majority of his convalescence consoling himself with liquor and prescription medications. His family and friends are at a loss as to how best to help him. In a lucid moment he looks out one of his windows and sees a young woman rushing headlong toward the nearby train tracks. When he realizes she’s risking her life for the dog, he heedlessly darts outside shirtless just in time to help the feckless woman untangle the pup’s collar and whisk him to safety. When Christian’s brother startles the pair clinging to each other with the bedraggled dog between them, Maggie slips on the loose gravel and hits her head hard on the steel track. While waiting for emergency assistance to arrive, Christian is stunned to notice his very own college rookie card and a unique to his family’s paper mill quartzite stone have fallen from Maggie’s grasp.
Upon awakening a week later, Maggie has no idea who she is or why she’s in the company of the very attractive Christian, but she offers to act as his live in housekeeper until such time as she regains her memory. The time they spend together soothes the demons that had been plaguing Christian, and while she may not know anything about her life prior to waking up in Starrycard Creek, she is likewise drawn to Christian.
Feelings develop quickly, but Maggie fears she may be involved with another man, and feels duty bound to make things right. Christian however is not letting her go so easily. Even if it takes an eclectic family and an army of drag queens, he’s determined to win over the woman fate has delivered to him.
This was a funny, sometimes silly novel with lots of superstitions and generational lore from the always wonderful Krista Sandor.
I was lucky to have been furnished an advance reader copy from The Author Agency and bookfunnel, and I’m very happy to share my honest review.
This crafty storyteller is one who won me over with the first romance I read from her, and I’m so in love with this Starrycard Creek series. It’s a little bit mystical, a whole lot serendipitous, and full of small-town charm and strong family bonds.
This romance may be more controversial for some readers, so rather than give an opinion, I’ll outline what to expect and each reader can make her own decision. Some of this maybe spoilers, so don’t read any farther if you don’t want them. Here's what you'll find.
Pie, pie, and more pie. The number eleven and its significance to the MCs. A sneaky, smarmy, self-serving ex. A company of drag queens who play a pivotal role. An animal in peril. Amnesia. A injured baseball player stumbling through life as he finds his footing. A heroine who lost everyone she loves but finds her home in Starrycard Creek. A criminal arrest with a creative sentence. A cast of grumpy, male, geriatric bakers with big hearts. Local festival with a ultra competitive pie baking contest. Drag queen story hour at the local elementary school. Magical paper and a well that grants wishes. Family interference, banter, and fierce love. A charming, muscled, pseudo antagonist who serves to rile up the Starrycard men. Instalove, romance, naughty shenanigans, and steamy times.
Hopefully, by knowing what to expect you can decide whether or not this one is for you. Happy reading!
We have a LOT here. The slightly off-kilter cornball humor that you already adore. Unlikely friends and allies. Family by blood and by choice. Some drama. And a certain guy with fantastic legs and short shorts helps save the day!
But even all of that isn’t what made this something I managed to plow through in such a short time. Nope. A curmudgeon judge, his equally grumpy judge friends, and a bunch of queens made this absolutely everything I needed and didn’t even realize I was missing! It’s hard to say who I loved more, but the grudge old Judge Ironside has held for a long time might make him the icing on the cake. Or the whipped cream on the pie? Yeah, that’s more fitting. Because this man has been grumpy for a long time, as he’ll tell you. He’s a pie enthusiast. And he’s Maggie’s Number One Bestie because she promises to make good on her guarantee.
Then it all almost falls apart. But then every star aligns to make things right. In an extravagant, hilarious, wholly Krista Sandor manner. And I mean that in the absolute best way. Just trust me. You want the humor. The love. The bittersweet memories. The judges. The queens. You want all of this and it’s all just in time for you to start thinking about pumpkin pies and holiday chaos!
Thank you to Krista Sandor for allowing me to read a copy of this book. It was such a fun, hopeful read. I loved reading every single second of my experience reading this. I read this book as a standalone, and it didn't hinder my experience. I loved hearing the lore of Starrycard Creek, and all about the cast. I really want to read more from Krista Sandor and from this series in the future.
Maggie's practically homeless, on the way to grant her grandfather's wish and give Christian Starrycard his belongings. On her bus ride, she meets an awesome group of drag queens and quickly succumbs to their welcoming warmth, giving them details of what led her to be on the bus with not much to her name, on the way to a small town to fulfill her grandpa's last wish. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately?) something happens, and now she's awoken in the hospital, having lost her memory, and her first sight is of a gorgeous man who looks really worried about her.
Christian's been spiraling since an injury permanently sidelined his baseball career. He's been dreaming of a beautiful woman for awhile now, then one morning after another bad night, he finds that same woman running toward the train tracks to rescue a dog stuck on those tracks. He's just found the woman of his dreams, literally, and she doesn't even remember their fateful meeting, or anything else. He has to convince her that they belong together, even if her past comes calling to claim her and her memories.
A former baseball star, a baker who's lost her memory, a town full of eccentric but wonderful residents, and a love story written in the stars. There isn't anything about Christian and Maggie that I didn't absolutely love. It's funny, sweet, definitely sexy, and in the end I realized I had just found my new favorite Starrycard couple. Can't wait for the next Starrycard to fall in love now.
ARC provided by The Author Agency for an honest review.
Maggie was a wreck. Two years ago she had lost her grandma and just recently she lost her grandpa. To pay the medical bills she had to sell the home she grew up in with her grandparents as well as her car. She was able to keep some family heirlooms. One being the pink pie plate her grandpa bought for her grandma second-hand for eleven dollars. Her grandma had taught her how to make hundreds of different pies. And that was the day she was moving in with her boyfriend. She had made him a pie and decided to arrive early to surprise him.
Except when she entered the house she heard grunts and groans from the bedroom. When she entered the room she hears him say, “Just like that, baby,” as he passionately screwed another woman against the wall. Yep, the wall. She’d been with the guy five years—since she was nineteen—and they’d never done it against a wall. In fact, she couldn’t even recall the last time they’d slept together.” Now she has a one-way ticket to the mystery her grandpa left her. She thought they had no secrets.
Little did she know that now she's on a bus rolling down a bumpy Colorado highway. When out of nowhere someone starts asking her questions. When she looks around she realizes she’s on the bus with drag queens. Their in their seventies and eighties out to teach awareness. From a college baseball coach, an epidemiologist, a therapist, and a retired neuropsychologist each one plus more spreading love and tolerance. They find out about Maggie’s life and start pointing her toward a new future.
She has put everyone and everything before herself she doesn't know how to dream. She is headed to Starrycard Creek to find Christian Starrycard. There are items her grandpa wanted her to return to him. It turns out her grandpa had met him and made a promise to him. He was making good on that promise. Only Maggie was making the delivery. Only before that can happen a dog is stuck on the tracks. She demands to be let off the bus leaving the letter that explains everything along with her purse, luggage, and pie plate on the bus with the drag queens.
The struggle to get the dog off the tracks is real and harder than she thought it would be. Especially, with the train barreling straight for them when the toots of the train sounded off Christian came out to investigate and saw the scene on the track. He bolts into action and gets right next to her ear to make sure she can hear him that’s how close and loud the train is. They work together and manage not to die on the tracks and Christian doesn't do further damage to himself. All was good but it took a hot minute in each other's arms to realize that yes indeed they were okay.
When they make eye contact they are both surprised. Him because she is the woman from his dreams that he has been having since his accident. But then she presents him with the baseball rookie card and the rock with the 11 carved on it. Before she can tell him how she came to have the items. His older brother comes up wanting answers to a million questions and then tries to take the dog from her and the dog gets agitated, so she tries to back up and loses her footing. Before either man can catch her she falls and hits her head on the railroad tracks.
To say things go in fast forward from here is an understatement. A week in the hospital where Christian never leaves her side. See how this story unfolds and how the drag queens bring answers to the town when they find out their little Miss Cry-In-Her-Pie Maggie is the girl that their baby Christian has fallen in love with. And boy, do they have answers to all his woes.
The Baseball Card Boyfriend is the third book in the Starrycard Creek series featuring the Starrycard siblings.
Christian suffered a career ending injury several months ago. He had surgery but lacked commitment in his physical therapy. He does not know what to do with his life, so instead he is wallowing in alcohol and dreams.
Maggie just suffered several personal losses in her life. She has nothing left. When she joins her boyfriend in Rocky Mountain, she suffers yet another loss. She boards a bus headed to find Christian. She does not understand why her grandfather is sending her to him, but she is honoring his wishes.
On her way to find Christian, Maggie sees a dog caught on the train tracks. She makes the bus driver stop and let her out. She must save this dog. Christian sees her running to the tracks, but there is a train barrelling down on her and the dog. He runs to help her.
When he gets a good look at her, she is his dream girl. But how is this possible? When his brother, Owen, shows up, he scares Maggie. She loses her footing, stumbles and hits her head on the train tracks. Do you notice these tracks seem to be a danger to everyone in this story?
When she is released from the hospital, Christian and Owen get in to a debate on who Maggie should stay with. Maggie solves the problem by having Christian hire her as his housekeeper. Little does she know what she has just signed up for.
Over the next few weeks, we see Christian and Maggie exploring new experiences. Breaking and entering. Indecent exposure. Arson, kind of.
Enter Judge Ironside. He is such a curmudgeon and desperately wants to throw the book at Christian. But Maggie charms him with her knowledge of pie. She convinces him that she can help him and his cronies win the Donnelly Days Pie Baking contest. If she succeeds and they win, all charges will be dropped against her and Christian. If she fails and they do not win, she and Christian will clean toilets.
Everything happens so quickly from this point on. Pies are baked. Recipes are modified. Stumble Juice is consumed in vast quantities. At one point there is a slumber party at Christian's ranch.
I must admit I love the judges. Their lives are so intertwined and yet they are all so different. All three have lost their wives. But Ironside plays such a huge role as the leader of this motley crew. He may be gruff, but he has a heart of gold. I dare you not to fall in love with him.
And let us not forget about a male lead, Christian. I mean he has a freaking helicopter and he is the pilot. What woman in their right mind would not swoon at that.
But the best part is Gramps. The man is sentimental, talking about the good old days. Explaining about how the Starrycard men fall hard and fast when they find the right woman. He is mesmerizing. The Stumble Juice probably has something to do with that.
This was my first Krista Sandor book. I now need to go back and read the first two books in this series. And I definitely cannot wait for Owen to get his story. I need to know what woman will be able to tame him.
Love is in the cards in Starrycard Creek and I have a new favorite Starrycard!
The Baseball Card Boyfriend is the third book in the Starrycard Creek Bachelors series by Krista Sandor and I adore Christian and Maggie's story. This is part of an interconnected series so it of course is better when you have read the other stories, especially trying to keep all the different couples straight in your mind, but it also isn't 100% necessary either.
If you are looking for a romance that is highly entertaining, fun and warm and has a touch of spice then look no further. Because what else could you expect from a former baseball pro on the mend with golden retriever energy when he finds the literal girl of his dreams? Add in some amnesia, a group of pie baking judges, some fabulous drag queens and the rest of the Starrycard clan and this book is nothing short of a good time!
I love the journey that is this book. Maggie and Christian are at a new crossroads in their lives when fate, along with a dog aptly named Lucky, bring them together. Christian, in true Starrycard fashion, falls head over heels in love the moment he lays eyes on Maggie in his dreams and all over again when he comes face to face with her in his own backyard. Maggie is one of those people that just has a pure and sweet heart, that even at her lowest she will do what she can to make someone else's world brighter. Even when she can't remember anything about her life she still has this easily lovable aura with this hint of sass that is basically Christian's catnip.
I think some of what I adore about this story is the way that both Maggie and Christian uplifted each other and helped heal some of those emotional wounds they each carried. The love between them was simply palpable through the pages and they were each willing to give space that they didn't want if it meant unlocking Maggie's memories. But even more I love the found family that forms between the Starrycards, Maggie, the Gemstones and the group of grouchy judges.
In perfect fall book fashion, I am desperately craving pie of the many pumpkin varieties after reading this book and I'm going to need some pie perfection coming my way now while I wait for Caroline to make her way back to Starrycard Creek!
I’m going to be 100% honest, when I started this book, I felt like it was a fever dream right out of the gate: 80 year old drag queens, our FMC messily crying into her pie, and explaining her whole life story to strangers as they started talking about fate? And as the story just kept getting more far-fetched and unrealistic in the early chapters, the more my nerves unraveled thinking, “what even is this?” It reminded me of that 90s (I think? Maybe early 2000s rom-com “Serendipity”). But I kept going because even though the idea of seeing someone in your dreams before they pop into your life makes me cringe, it was written so beautifully and swoon-worthy that I HAD to keep going. And boy am I glad that I did! Without spoiling this fantastic story for you all, I’ll say this: all of those little things that I THOUGHT was far-fetched and unrealistic? Turns out there are perfectly logical explanations for them. When that was revealed to us as the reader, my. Jaw. Dropped. I really love the history of Christian’s ancestors and Maggie’s grandparents and how those stories play roles in their own love story. It really makes you believe that there’s the invisible thread tying us all together and that there’s no such thing as coincidences. The support Maggie and Christian provide for each other is next level, along with their love and his family? Amazing. I will also say, I didn’t realize this was book #3 when I read it. And now I can’t wait to go back and read books 1 and 2. All in all, The Baseball Card Boyfriend is a heartfelt story about fate, trust, worth, and finding your place - all in the guise of a both heartwarming and heartbreaking romantic comedy. I can admit when I wrongfully judge a book by the first chapter(s) and I did on this one…and I’m ecstatic Krista Sandor made me eat my words. Or pie ;)
“I’m a baker. I’m a friend. I’m a dog mom, and I’m in love with a man who builds me up. I’m Maggie TBD.”
Maggie is at rock bottom—no family, boyfriend, or job, and she’s reeling from the loss of her grandparents. All she has is a pie plate and her grandfather’s last wish. Christian Starrycard, a former pro baseball player featured on her grandfather’s baseball card. Their lives collide while rescuing a dog from a train. In the chaos, Maggie hits her head, falls into a coma, and wakes up with amnesia. As their unexpected love story unfolds, Maggie begins to recover her memories, but will her past align with the new life she’s starting to build with Christian?
Have you ever noticed the number 1:11 showing up everywhere? Do you think it’s a sign from angels or just a fun coincidence? Perhaps it’s a message from Maggie’s grandpa in heaven, guiding her and Christian’s paths, which seem to cross for a reason. If you’ve ever felt the unconditional love of a grandparent or leaned on their wisdom, this book will truly resonate with you! The Baseball Card Boyfriend is a heartwarming blend of love, resilience, and the pursuit of happiness, sprinkled with fabulous wisdom from an 80-year-old drag queen! Christian embodies selfless love, embracing Maggie wholeheartedly despite knowing little about her past, with no expectations. He cares for her, even willing to let her go if that’s what she truly needs. Maggie and Christian are perfect examples that every storm passes. You’ll definitely finish this book feeling all the love!
Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but reading the books in order will reveal Easter eggs and hidden gems.
A big thanks to The Author Agency and Krista Sandor for providing me with a digital ARC of this book!
This is the third book in the author's "Starrycard Creek" series but it can be read as a stand-alone. After losing her grand-father, having to sell his house to pay for medical bills and catching her fiance cheating on her Maggie sits crying on a bus towards Starrycard Creek. Her grandfather asked her to return a baseball card and a stone to former player Christian Starrycard. When she spots a dog in danger Maggie gets off the bus to rescue him. By chance Christian sees and helps her. After they rescue the dog Maggie falls on her head and wakes up with amnesia. Since she doesn't remember her past she ends up staying in Starrycard Creek with Christian who is sure Maggie is the woman for him since he saw her in his dreams. But of course there are obstacles to overcome and a past to be remembered... I always look forward to reading a new book by Krista Sandor and devour them as soon as I can get them so I was overjoyed when I got the chance to read an ARC for this book. I enjoyee reading it, it has lots of lovable characters and was very entertaining but the whole "falling in love with a dream"-angle felt a bit unbelievable and over the top for me. Christian and Maggie fall in love basically at first sight and other than the shenanigans of Maggie's ex everything is just perfect from the get-go. And all the serendipitous connections between the main characters felt a bit too much. But the charming small-town setting and the quirky supporting characters completely made up for that. A very sweet and entertaining romance.
I received an ARC via The Author Agency and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Honestly, this book threw me for a loop but in the cutest way. It was just a sweet fun read about 2 characters at the lowest point in their lives and happen to meet and fall in love. We've got Maggie, who recently lost her beloved grandparents, her boyfriend and her home. What she does have is a base ball card of a Starrycard hometown hero - Christian Starrycard, an old pie plate and a rock with the numbers 11 etched into it. When she boards a bus filled with geriatric drag queens, who knows what can happen!
Christian Starrycard has returned to his hometown after a baseball injury sidelines his career. He's at the lowest point of his life and no direction, when he happens to see our girl Maggie trying to rescue a dog off of a train track outside of his home. When he goes to help, he comes face to face with the girl of his dreams ...literally - unfortunately, after a slight mishap, she ends up with amnesia and has no idea who he is, who she is or why she is even there. Let the fun begin....
Somehow, be it fated or divine intervention, these two characters meet and as they form a friendship they learn that they have a lot in common and find this connection that they can't explain away and a love that grows.
This book was sweet and quirky and made me smile so much. It had so many characters that I enjoyed and it was such a pleasure to read. Meddling family and crazy townsfolk make this book so entertaining. You've got laughter, love, a few twists and turns and even some heat. Although it is book 3 in the series, I had no trouble reading it as a standalone.
Maggie and Christian this was such a fun adventure in Starrycard Creek. Christian’s story is one that I’ve been waiting for because in the last couple books we kept getting hints that something wasn’t quite right with him now we finally get the full backstory. Let me just say Maggie was the absolute perfect person for him. Maggie has had a hard couple years in her life and her and Christian meet cute is wild and crazy. A little more action packed than some but it’s perfect for them. It leads to her having a very unusual problem amnesia. Watching her and Christian navigate their developing friendship with this amnesia was such an interesting thing to see unfold. He treats her so amazing he will do anything for her. He’s had a hard road to travel as well, with his career falling apart. She’s given him another reason to live his life. I love watching their life unfold together. Of course it’s not easy just when you think everything is smooth sailing they get the ultimate curveball. But it’s Starrycard Creek it’s written in the stars they’re gonna figure it out and be stronger on the other side. Of course you got his family that keeps life interesting his niece McKenzie, who is an absolute firecracker who keeps everyone on their toes. She’s just fantastic. But I just love so much watching them fall in love even if she can’t remember her past, they are starting this new chapter together. It’s his patience and his kindness. It’s so attractive and it’s just so amazingly beautiful. I love their love story and I’m so happy they got their happily ever after.
This is the third book in the series, and definitely my favorite so far. It is the same mix of off the wall humor, witty banter, slightly weird and eccentric characters and love. So much love!
When Maggie's world falls apart following tragedy after tragedy, culminating in her finding her fiance with someone else, she hops on a bus to do her grandfather's last wish. Deliver the contents of this envelope to Christian Starrycard, a former baseball player that had a short lived, but stellar career. When Maggie meets some drag queens on a bus, she pours out her heart and her story to them, but then she spots a dog trapped on the train tracks, she jumps off the bus leaving all of her belongings behind to save it. All she has left are the special rock, an old high school baseball card and the apron she's wearing with her name on it. Christian sees Maggie trying to help the puppy, but when he goes to help, Maggie slips, hits her head on the train tracks and wakes up one week later with amnesia. And then the fun begins because Maggie is the girl that Christian has been dreaming about since his accident and he has no intention of letting her go!
With the entire Starrycard family in attendance, this is a fast paced romp through life. Most fast paced of all is the dynamo, McKenzie, the youngest Starrycard and only niece that ensures she has everyone wrapped around her finger!
This book is so fun, it can be read as a standalone, but why would you, when there are two other equally enjoyable books before it!
This book was so sweet it made my teeth hurt 😂 The characters were fun to get to know and I can’t wait to find time to go back and read the first books in the series.
⚾️Tropes⚾️ »Small Mountain Town »Amnesia »Former Baseball Star »He Falls First »Found Family »Large Crazy Family »Legend about Falling in Love »A Rescue Puppy
After Maggie finds her boyfriend in a less than faithful position, she decides to fulfill her grandfather’s last wish to return some items to a baseball player that was on the team he used to work for. One wacky bus ride later, she finds herself in front of an oncoming train, trying to save a dog trapped on the tracks. A man shows up to help and once they free him, an injury takes away all of her memories.
Christian Starrycard, former pro baseball player, has found himself back home after a career ending injury. To quiet the intrusive thoughts, he over imbibes to see the woman of his dreams. She comes to him only then. He doesn’t know her, but he wishes he did. Until one day, he recognizes her red hair on his property running towards some train tracks. What happens next is a journey towards love and self discovery for them both.
If you are a fan of fate, this book is for you! The town of Starrycard Creek has magic that brings people together and it really made for a cute read.
I really loved Christian so much. He was a sweetheart with only the best intentions. His devotion to Maggie, even when he didn’t know her, was out of this world. When it says he falls first, oh man does he ever. Like a moth to a flame and I devoured every moment of it!
Be sure to check out The Baseball Card Boyfriend today!
The Baseball Card Boyfriend is book in the Starrycard Creek Bachelors Series (steamy small-town romance) and it’s the perfect addition to this series of standalone romances. If you love small town, family romances look no further than this entertaining read. This is Major League Baseball former power hitter Christian Starrycard and Maggie’s story. Maggie finds herself in Starrycard Creek suffering from amnesia. She has no idea why she there and only reason she knows her name is because it’s stitched on an apron. Christian is home after an injury finishes his baseball career and when he decides to drown his sorrows the last thing he expects is to come to Maggie’s rescue. What follows is a heartwarming and entertaining story as Christian works to convince Maggie that they belong together….. I loved everything about this book, I fell hard and fast for Christian and I want Maggie in my corner. I swooned, I smiled and I giggled. I loved how this couple helped each other with their feelings, how they found strength with each other but more importantly I love the family love that is everywhere in this small town. This book has the perfect mix of love, passion and humour and I’m sure I will be reading this book and this series again and again because I was left smiling and that’s all I can ask for in a great read. Krista Sandor is a very talented reader and if you haven’t read her stories yet….why not.
Maggie and Christian’s story absolutely captivated me from the beginning and Maggie crying in her pie on a bus to the very end and I didn’t want it to ever be over. Maggie’s heartbreak and devastation comes from so many things piling up on her all at once and with sage advice from the Queens she knows she needs to find her path, but she is derailed when she tries to rescue a dog from train tracks, or maybe not. When Maggie rushes off the bus to save the dog she never expects to find the person she was looking for to begin with but with all the chaos going on in that moment she gets injured and loses herself. Maggie’s injury results in amnesia and what follows is emotional moments packed with humor and a loving community. Christian’s whole life has been nothing but baseball and the career ending injury he receives leaves him lost in limbo, drowning away in his sorrows until he helps a girl save a dog. Maggie and Christian both have things in them they need to heal and with the help of each other they find something more. I loved how Christian just knows Maggie was sent just for him and his determination to make her his is top notch swoon level perfection. These two have a long journey ahead of them when it comes to matters of their hearts and not to mention the shenanigans they get each other into. This story will have you smiling big cheeses smiles all the way through and falling in love once again the Starrycard family, community, and fate.
I was honoured to receive this story as an advance copy and this is my honest review.
I absolutely loved this book it has great characters, lots of humour but also has plenty of twists and turns.
Christian Starrycard was a pro baseball player before a severe injury - number 11 is a special number to Christian. He is rich.
Maggie got amnesia after catching her boyfriend cheating on her. Maggie with no last name to be determined,” Christian woul shorten this to - TBD.
Maggie is finding it difficult to remember who she is but gradually for some reason she can remember recipes of Pumpkin pies and so many different variations.
Maggie's late grandfather sent her on a journey to return some items. Some might say that her Grandad led her to where she is meant to be.
As in all good stories there is plenty of crazy family, town residents, bad guy and not to mention judges!
Not long being in town and already Christian & Maggie are caught Break & Entering.
Christian & Maggie first met when trying to rescue a puppy - named Lucky from the railway track when an oncoming train was hurtling towards them
Along the journey Maggie meets some fabulous queens that gives fabulous advice when needed.
So many parts you will laugh at. Will the puzzle 🧩 get compled or will it be a puzzle with missing pieces 🤷🏻♀️
Book Review: The Baseball Card Boyfriend by: Krista Sandor
Ok she had me at pie! And oh my oh my were there some delicious details in this book! I loved the cake bit in book two and I loved this pie-centric story it was so cute! Krista is a master at witty moments, internal monologues, and a run away mouth! This book was so cute, charming, funny, and swoony. I felt so bad for Maggie she looses everything and was given the nickname “Cry in her Pie!” But she definitely doesn’t lose her light even with her memories gone! I loved this book it truly was masterfully written and beautifully done! It marks all the boxes for a great read! I really loved every moment of this story it was so good! The Blushing Baker!!! Swoon anyway that’s all I will say so I don’t spoil anything! And the way she sets up the next book I cannot wait! I’m so excited to read that next book. And stay tuned because I will be getting the honor of interviewing her on my channel for a “look behind the book!”
If you haven’t read this series definitely check it out!! It’s phenomenal!
💕Small Mountain Town 🔥Amnesia 💕Former Baseball Star 🔥He Falls First 💕Found Family 🔥Large Crazy Family 💕Legend about Falling in Love 🔥A Rescue Puppy
Once again Krista has transported us back to Starrycard Creek and back into the lives of the wonderful Starrycard family. This one is the third instalment in the series and they just keep on getting better. This entertaining romp if fun and warm with just a touch of spice... and I don’t mean in just the pies 😉 Christian has just suffered a career ending injury which has him in a tail spin, the only thing holding him together is seeing her in his dreams. Maggie’s life is a mess... so she follows her Grandfathers dying advice and goes to Starrycard Creek to find Christian. On the way she stops to save a dog called Lucky she falls and hits her head giving her amnesia. It also turns out she is also the girl from Christians dreams. Well let the fun begin. This one has it all. Love, bittersweet memories, grouchy baking judges, 80 year old Drag Queens and pumpkin pie... lots and lots of pie. This journey to love lead them both on a journey. They uplifted ad healed each other. Once again they were lead to where they were supposed to be. Adore this series and looking forward to what comes next.
I was given a complimentary copy but voluntarily chose to review
Small town romance, baseball player, a puppy, found family, what more could you need??
After breaking up with her boyfriend of 5 years, Maggie sets off to find a former baseball star, Christian, because her grandfather asked her to return something to him. When she finds him though, she ends up hitting her head and forgets everything about who she is.
Christian is there for her every single step of the way and does whatever he can to help Maggie try and remember her past. He is patient and kind, and shows her exactly how she deserves to be treated.
Maggie is terrified and frustrated with not being able to remember anything about who she is, but she cannot deny the pull she has towards Christian and this life they’re building together. She is so strong and determined, and it shows in everything she does.
Their path to love might not be traditional, but their story is unique and adorable and I loved reading it! Now I’m going to have to go back and read the other Startycard stories!
This book is like a spicy Hallmark movie with a healthy dose of a wonderful romcom and a dash of mystery. Throw in some fabulous drag queens and you have a homerun!
Maggie needs a fresh start from a life that hasn't always been kind. Christian's dream life has taken a drastic downturn and he desperately needs help. Lucky has been turned out by humans and needs some, well, luck. The community of Starrycard has a "magic" of its own that I loved seeing as our characters found each other. Krista has written a beautiful story about love, life, and found family.
As a brain injury survivor, I don't see a lot of head injuries and their effects represented in romantic fiction. Given the nature of the story, I think Krista did a wonderful job with Maggie's accident and amnesia. I also loved the queer representation in the story via the drag queens and the communities who support them!
If you enjoy a heartwarming but spicy romance with some baseball, a great boy pupper, and plenty of shenanigans thrown in, get this book!
The Baseball Card Boyfriend is book 3 in the Starrycard Creek Bachelor series and it was a fun read that follows Maggie and Christian. These two met when he helps her save a dog from getting crushed by a train.
Unfortunately she fell right after, hitting her head and woke up with amnesia unable to tell him about herself, all he knows is that she's the girl he's been dreaming about every night and he insists on taking care of her.
The story was highly entertaining and I enjoyed seeing these two fall in love. They were both at crossroads in their lives when fate intervened to bring them together and I loved how supportive they were of each other. However there were some obstacles to get over and a past to remember before they got to their HEA.
They were surrounded by a colorful cast of characters who who were hilarious at times but also provided great support. Christian's niece was a highlight and stole several scenes.
This heart-warming small town romance was a great blend of love, passion, witty banter and humour. I enjoyed it and would recommend it to romance lovers.
Review: 5 Stars I'm so happy to be back in Starrycard Creek. This book is so good! I could not put this book down. This book like the others in the series will win you over with the sense of humor. I laughed so much through out this one. It is one of my favorite things about this book and Krista Sandor's writing. Christian's niece McKenzie is awesome as ever in this one. I so love the big crazy Starrycard family. I did feel for Maggie because as this one starts her life is pretty much rock bottom and then she ends up with amnesia. She finds herself on one heck of adventure in Starrycard Creek. I love the senior citizens and don't get me started on the Queens. I loved them so much! There is more than meets the eye and everything works out with meddling help. I can't tell you how happy I was with how everything worked out for Maggie. It made my heart so happy for her and the end of this one. I had a very close relationship with my grandparents too so the little things and reminders are the things most cherished. I can't recommend this one enough!! A must read!
Pie, Amnesia, and Unexpected Love in Starrycard Creek!
This book starts off with Maggie on a bus with a plate full of pie and a mission to accomplish for her late grandfather. She’s headed to Starrycard Creek to find Christian, a former MLB player. Christian is struggling to adjust after a career-ending injury left him without his main purpose.
When Maggie and Christian finally meet, an accident leaves her with amnesia. Unsure of who she is or why she’s there, Maggie relies on Christian to help her rediscover herself. His patience and kindness are truly swoon-worthy. In turn, Maggie helps him confront the pain of losing his baseball career before he was ready.
This story is packed with fun, complete with laugh-out-loud antics as Maggie and Christian try to piece together her identity. Christian’s family embraces Maggie, making her feel right at home and sharing in her love of pie. If you’re looking for a charming small-town romcom, this one should definitely be on your TBR list!
Maggie has suffered through a great deal of loss lately her grandfather just died and she discovered her boyfriend cheating on her. So with little to no money, no place to live and no job she jumps on a bus to fulfill her grandfather’s last wish: that she take an old baseball card and some memento to Christian. Now Christian has suffered a bad career ending injury and he’s been self medicating with alcohol. While on the bus with a load of geriatric drag queens (love those names!!) she sees a dog on a train track and asks the bus driver to stop. She runs to rescue the dog and Christian runs to rescue her and unfortunately in the midst of all this Maggie falls, hits her head and loses her memory. So she agrees to work with Christian as his housekeeper while she tries to regroup. Christian although grumpy was very attracted to Maggie and really wanted to pursue a relationship with her. Maggie only hampered by the memories she cannot recall wants to hold off. This story is very cute with lots of secondary characters who are funny and brings lots of levity to the story.
This story will leave you wanting so much more at the end. It will leave your heart full and just wishing you could take away the pain during it. Christian Starrycard had his life mapped out being a professional baseball player, but when a career-ending injury sidelines him, well the only place for peace he can go is home. Maggie just had her life ripped out from her and not having anyone else and only a note with a stone and a baseball card she goes to seek out Christian Starrycard. On her journey, she meets the Gem Squad and you can't help but love them. When a tragic accident leaves her memory gone it's Christian who is there to help her. As they navigate her memories he will try to help and protect her as best as he can. Their feelings grow stronger by the day and their love is instant. However, when her past comes back will her memories? This truly is a beautiful love story that just melts your heart. It also brings in our favorite Starrycard family and their antics.
4.5/5⭐️ Due to an incident, Maggie loses her memory after meeting Christian at the railway tracks of Rocky Mountain City. She ends up living with him on the Donnelly ranch as his housekeeper, while she recuperates and try to regain her memories.
One events leads to another and Maggie ends up helping the senior Center craft up the best pumpkin pie ever to win a competition. Both Maggie and Christian end up rambling whenever they are nervous and oh my…. it’s so funny! Their unfiltered, honest thoughts are guaranteed to make me laugh. Little McKenzie and her yoga comments too are just what I need to laugh away my troubles.
Though they can be overwhelming, I loved Christian’s big and “crazy” family, including the honorary members such as the judges too! The ending was absolutely perfect and like the tattoo which Christian has which says, “Give what you love everything you’ve got”, he is so generous and overwhelmingly in love with his Maggie. 🥰
What a wonderful read! Christian has returned home after an injury sidelined his professional baseball career and is not coping well. Maggie has just found her boyfriend cheating on her and has left town with her few possessions. On the bus out of town, she is befriended by some colorful characters and they try to cheer her up. During the ride, Maggie notices that a dog is stuck on the train tracks and demands to get off the bus to rescue the dog. A train happens to be coming and Christian ends up saving her and the dog. During the rescue, she hits her head and ends up in a coma. When she finally wakes up, she has amnesia. Christian let's her stay with him on his ranch while she recovers. They are what the other needed. Maggie pulls Christian out of his destructive patterns and Christian helps her heal and believe in herself. This was my favorite of the series so far! I really enjoyed reading their journey to happiness and seeing old friends and family! Can't wait for more!
So, I really enjoy a good piece of pie. However, because this book was set in the fall, this book was focused on pumpkin, and that's my least favorite 🥧 😬. This did not deter me from falling in love with the story. I fact, it really made me want to reconsider my opinion on said pie 🤣.
Anyway.. Christian Starrycard 😍😍. Let me swoon for a while on that one. A broken, former professional baseball player (like recently was forced to retire) who is so grumpy until he sees Maggie 🫠. Like, where do I get a plane ticket to this town? There is still a single brother! How do I sign up?
This story, as this entire universe is, was so entertaining. I laughed so much. From beginning to end... except for the 🌶 🌶🌶 moments (although even during some of those) and except for the dark, angry moments 🤬 (IYKYK).
