How to declutter your mind and become more centered in yourself, cure the chaos, destroy the fear, and silence the inner critic.
About ten years ago I was in the middle of a very bad relationship. I was undergoing verbal, mental and sometimes physical abuse on an almost daily basis. What's more, if you'd seen me back then you wouldn't have believed it. I looked like a successful person. I was a Store Manager, I lived in a great two bedroomed house in a very well to do area, and my significant other and I seemed like the perfect couple. But that was all a facade. I dreaded going home after work. I just wanted to linger at work and never go back to the place that had for me become a den of hatred and fear. But how could I have allowed myself to become a victim? I used to actually sneer at those I saw on television who had allowed themselves to become victims of abuse, I just didn't believe they would just take the abuse day in and day out, but they did. And in time so did I. It snuck up on me. And eventually after years of abuse I decided no more. I called my parents, told them what was going on, and within half an hour they arrived to help me move out and escape a relationship that had drained me, made me someone I no longer recognized, and something that had affected my mind.
Eventually I divorced. And I started to put my life back together. And almost ten years later I sometimes still find myself affected by what happened back then. But I'm a better person now, I'm no longer a victim, and the reason is I decided to declutter my mind.
