I’m on a unique book kick and this one didn’t disappoint. The description captured me with one mc being from the mainland and the other from a remote island without modern technology, etc. Could’ve easily read another 100+ pages to get more out of what happened after this ended, and also overall would’ve enjoyed a bit more development and happily would’ve read more for it.

3.5 stars for me. It was funny in some parts, and in others I wanted more depth.
You have to suspend your belief for this one.

3.5⭐
I absolutely adored the first 21 chapters, I found it quite funny and really liked the characters, but once they got back to Solhaven I was bored.
Amelia suddenly felt like a different character halfway through the book - I get that's she's obviously more comfortable on the island where she grew up, but the difference was too stark imo.
I would've liked to see more of Amelia exploring and getting to know the mainland.

If you’re looking for a light, quirky, different read this is it. The plot line was interesting and kept me intrigued. Add nice characters and a happy happily-ever-after and what more do you want. A settling read in our unsettled times.

Cute, enjoyable, and funny, another wonderful rom-com from the queen of rom-coms. It's as much about self discovery as it is about the romance, coming to terms with who they are as well as what they want. And, of course, the secrets are not quite what you'd expect. It's a light easy read, and I was especially fond of the way that the story wrapped up and the contents of the epilogue. Adorable cover art too!

This shit is so ass. Like so fucking ass. I wish i can give it 1 star but the writing is bearable and good enough so i give it two. Its giving the whole yt saviour vibe too. like oh “ im from small island where community and teamwork is the main theme but everyone hates me cause im so frivolous and clumsy ( bullshit) . so who’s gonna be the princess charming that gonna show up and show me the whole wide world”

then who’s the princess charming? The privilege ass woman from the main city ofc.

I was so excited to read this book when I read the summary. I was hoping for indigenous sapphic representation as Amelia is in fact a native people of her island. But ofc the author has to make it look like the island is the worst place to live, for a place where they have to trust each other for a living, Amelia sure is hated by her people fuck even her own mother is an asshole. How can theres nobody there for her, its just doesn’t make sense.

And the ending is just pure bullshit. i mean if someone lie to your face the whole time about her whole intention and only tell you d- day she’s gonna left, you should probably kill them /s. I can’t believe how fast Amelia anger has fallen after Tara told her the truth. Like girl shes literally using u for her own benefit pls be a little more angry. Idc if Tara feels bad about it she’s still a shitty person for that. Also wheres Amelia pride and dignity?!?. ofc shes only gonna be mad for a sec when her supposedly love of her life lie to her but its okay cause shes got kissable lips so she gonna think about that instead.

Oh and the whole “ please be kind to Amelia” is so cringe. Its like the author wanna give Tara one last redemption to make it up for her lies.

And the hateful elder ( i don’t remember her name ) redemption also feels flat. Like “im sorry for being an asshole and a bitch to you Amelia, its just you look so much like your grandma ( ofc her and the grandma is also a secret lesbian couple, the author try so hard to redeem this hag action) and it’s hurting me and i cant stand it so im gonna insult you for the rest of your life” are you 8? your old ass is too old to be this immature.

An unusual one this as the author writes an opposites attract romance between a city slicker journalist (Tara) and an exceptionally naive islander (Amelia) from an offshore island (Solhaven) that barely has any communication with the outside world. The island has no electricity, no gas, no central heating and no Internet or telephone communications. They have a lease that has to be renewed periodically and the task falls to Amelia to travel to the mainland to do this. Of course, things don’t go at-all smoothly and Amelia finds herself having to accept help from Tara in a strange new world. But Tara isn’t just a benevolent stranger, she’s convinced that there are dark deeds afoot in Solhaven and wants to make her mark by writing an expose on it.
Lots happens in this as Amelia finds the lease extension not as easy as expected and ends up having to invite Tara to the island to sort things out. Meanwhile their slow growing attraction is happening, but how can there be any future for a couple so mismatched?
This is light and low on angst and there are worse ways to spend a few hours on a rainy weekend day…

I thoroughly enjoyed this.
It wasn't necessarily the type of book I was expecting - there are some authors that I don't read the blurb etc - I just pick it because I have liked their previous stuff. Natasha West is one of those.
What happens when you take a woman from an isolated, technology free island and send her to the big, bad mainland for a meeting? Classic Miss West humour - farting in the elevator, misunderstandings and miscommunication. As well as the wonder of seeing the world for the first time.
I also thought the writing was cleverly done - the language used was constructed to ensure that it actually sounded like someone who had no previous exposure to tech and gadgets, or indeed the majority of modern life.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS SWEET BOOK!

Refreshingly sweet, even though it had its moments of conflict, emotional turmoil and anger. Well, actually LOTS of self-righteous anger.

This story had to be told. Much like the Amish, but the people seemed nicer…no shunning! To me this is a must read.

This was a cute read, almost bordering on cozy. A premise I thought I wouldn't really enjoy but Natasha managed to pull it off quite well. I would read another book by her.

The storyline in this book was so unique I really couldn’t stop reading. I loved learning bits about the island and the people there, the romance was slow burn and perfect. Absolutely recommend.

More Than Meets the Eye

"Nobody Quite Like You" isn't just a simple romcom. In what may be Natasha West's most experimental novel, a woman from an island community secluded from the modern world gets a crash course in the 21st century when she has to make a journey to the mainland with all its modern horrors. However, what really changes her life is the beautiful woman she meets there. Not since "Meet You at the End of the World" has West engaged in this kind of extensive world- (or at least island-) building, and happily she's not out of practice. Fun, sweet, and kind of adventurous.
