A pot smoking detective investigates a murder that leads him to a religious awakening. Vultures' Descent is a violent comedy about two cults and what it means to devote oneself to a belief system. The stars only await the most faithful.
At first I was unsure about this book, but I am glad I finished it. The overall scope was far larger than I initially expected, and the few problems I had with some of the characters are forgivable because no one in this story can be considered 'normal.' The last third is a blast and I liked the absurd ending. I found this book to be very funny, but the humour won't be for everyone, and it's definitely not for the squeamish or conservative reader.
I enjoyed this read. There were parts during reading where I wasn't too sure if I was even going to finish it but in the end I'm glad I did. I didn't expect for the cult to actually have made it to another land, to their "heaven". I absolutely love what they did when the cult was in this world. The ending I am not too fond of. I wanted to learn a little more about what happened with the rest of the cult. Pretty good read nonetheless.
