Breaking the Rules #3.3

Bride Rules: A Gemma Rules Novella Part 3

Rate this book
Randy loves Gemma. Gemma loves Randy. That should be enough to guarantee a happily-ever-after, but Gemma has experience being the roadblock to someone's dreams and it's not a role she's eager to reprise. She won't stand in the way of Randy’s NBA dreams, even if it means setting him free on the side of L.A.’s busiest freeway. She doesn’t count on Randy’s determination to win her back or her unpredictable half-sister, Cora Rule, who’s about to get married. Predictably, with the Rules involved all rules are meant to be broken, including Bride Rules.

Although Mel (who also writes as Melinda Curtis) has lived in Georgia and Texas, she's a California girl at heart. Her earliest memories are of life on an isolated 50-acre sheep ranch in rural Sonoma County, California. Picture rolling hills covered in brown grass, a eucalyptus forest, a long gravel driveway lined with plump sheep and no sidewalks. It was a big deal to drive into town on a one-lane road in a ramshackle, bubble-fendered pickup for an ice cream.

Flash forward to this century. Melinda lives in California's hot central valley with her husband - her basketball playing college sweetheart. With three kids the couple has done the soccer thing, the karate thing, the dance thing, the Little League thing and, of course, the basketball thing.

Melinda writes sweet to medium heat contemporary romances as Melinda Curtis and red hot reads as Mel Curtis. She loves writing romances about women who don't realize how strong they are until a hero comes along to show them, while capturing the wry humorous power struggle of falling in love - because, really, who lets the man have the last word?

This was a sweet and run read that kept me laughing. The author has out done herself giving you real emotion and drama that keeps you turning the pages. Gemma really struggles dealing with people, she just wants to be left alone behind closed doors to do her job. Her friends and family are always trying to bring her out dressing her up when she is more comfy in her boots and jeans. When Randy comes on the scene they get involved. He is trying to make a place for his self on the team. Gemma sees herself as keeping him from reaching his goal because he is trying to give both her and his game attention. One must be given up for him to make his way on the team it looks like she will be making that choice for him. When they both go to the same wedding things really heat up. Will they give in to the need for each other or will this be the end for them.

I really enjoyed this addition to this series it was fun to read. I got lost in the pages couldn’t put it down. I could really relate to them and what they were going through at time they really pulled on my heartstrings. It was wonderful to see Gemma come out of her shell and learn to trust. The author really did a wonderful job pulling me in with a believable read. It was well written with wonderful characters. Humor is always a BIG plus for me there is nothing like being taken away laughing and really enjoying what you are reading. This has been a wonderful series I can’t wait for the next one.

This was a really fun story to read. It is the third installment of Gemma Rule's story. I loved how real the emotions and drama were in this story. Gemma and Randy are in love - but Gemma is afraid that being involved with her will divide his attentions and prevent him from achieving his goal of playing in the NBA. I was cheering Gemma and Randy on through the entire story. It's a really quick and fun read.

'Bride Rules' by Mel Curtis is part 3 of Gemma Kent Rule and Randy Farrell's story. This story is sweet and funny! I cracked up reading parts of this story. This is a great finish to Gemma and Randy's story. Can't wait to read what happens next with the Rules in 'Daisy Rules' and 'Breaking the Rules' both due out this year! I recommend this entire series to anyone that enjoys romance with heat and some humor too.
