Shifters of Sherwood #4

Kings of Sherwood

Rate this book
This isn't what we wanted.

Sherwood is splintering. People are suspicious, angry, violent, and they blame us for the me, and my four shifters.

We wanted to save this place, but it might not want saving after all. And we just might end up as fractured as this place itself.

The final volume in the Shifters of Sherwood series.

The series was decent . It definitely was missing a lot of information and there were quite a few plot holes. As well, the story seemed to drag on more than necessary.

Finally the last book finished!😄
This whole books series was okey. It felt a little bit like, I don’t know how to describe it, but something that I don’t like to read that much. It felt childlike somehow in some parts.

The writing was okay but yea childlike.

The plot was not amazing but not bad.
I just think that the magic, paranormal and stuff could’ve gone without. The characters was not amazing and think they should have been better developed.

I just wasn’t into these books. It felt empty sometimes😕

🎶 “'Cause that's just the way life goes. I push my luck, it shows” 🎶

Sherwood is unraveling, and the people who once needed saving have turned suspicious, angry, and violent, placing the blame on her and the four shifters at her side. What began as a mission to protect the town now feels like a losing battle against both corruption and fear.

❤️.¸✿¸.•💌•.❀•THOUGHTS •❀.•💌•.¸✿¸.❤️

This final book felt a little underwhelming, especially with the whole bounty on Rob’s head. I honestly don’t even understand why Nick was introduced so late. Bringing in a new character in the fourth book and then folding him into the found family felt unnecessary because we don’t really get time to connect with him. He’s just… there. Not to say I didn’t like him, because I did see the potential with Zach and what that could turn into, but it felt like a setup that never fully paid off in this book.

Maren getting kidnapped by the sheriff and still choosing to show justice and mercy to people who made her life hell was very on brand for her. That is exactly who she is. But I kind of wish she didn’t, just because I wanted more consequences for those people. Everything wrapped up so quickly, and that made it feel less impactful. I was also really disappointed that we didn’t get more development of her healing abilities. That felt like something that could have been explored way more, especially in a final book. The Will and Rob situation also confused me. In the previous book, Will made it clear he didn’t see Rob in a romantic way, that it was more about loyalty and gratitude. But here, there were moments that hinted at something more, like a shift in how he viewed Rob physically and emotionally, and then… nothing. It was never addressed again. That felt like a missed opportunity because it could have added another layer to their dynamic, but instead it just got dropped.

And honestly, the shifter element ended up feeling kind of pointless. It was only really used as a tool to escape danger, and we never got any deeper understanding of what it actually meant for them. No real lore, no exploration, no expansion. It just existed without adding much to the story by the end.

It also felt like this book existed just to extend the series rather than actually add substance. Guy was already gone, so instead of building on what was already there, it felt like new conflict was thrown in just to justify another installment. The sheriff becoming a villain again felt more like forced drama than something meaningful, and there was barely any real character development. Even the relationships started to feel surface level. Tuck, Will, Rob, and LJ were just… there. Going through the motions, having dates, existing together, but not really growing in a way that made me feel invested anymore. I still adore Tuck, he is always going to have a soft spot for me, but even that wasn’t enough to carry the book.

❤️.¸✿¸.•💌•.❀•OVERALL •❀.•💌•.¸✿¸.❤️

It’s disappointing because the series started off so strong and had so much potential. But by the end, it felt like random plot lines, underdeveloped ideas, and unnecessary additions took over. I’m glad they got their happy ending, but it really ended with… a new car? That’s what we’re closing on? It just didn’t hit the way I wanted it to.

Oh boy. Maren isn't just naive and weak. Shes dumb as a bag of rocks. She spent the first 20% of this book in some random guys house allowing him to feed her and give her clothes. Without trying to get out or contact the guys. She never thinks anything through with simple critical thinking skills. I have no idea why she keeps going into town when she's missing person #1. I can't stand her.

Great finish for the Shifters of Sherwood series. Now that I've read the whole story and can see it from a Birdseye view, the editor in me wanted to move story points around, expand on others, etc. So here I'm reviewing the whole series now as a continuous story.

My first thought was this 4 book series should have been a duet. All four books were too short and would have been great as Books 1&2 = Book 1 and Books 3&4 = Book 2.

The spice was inconsistent. It started off with so much spice, it was like a smut book first, and a modern fantasy second. By the end of the series, it was practically a closed door. And a seed was planted that maybe something might be going down with Will and Rob? But what happened there? The plot point didn't "die", it just seemed insignificant and I didn't want it to be. Easily could have added 100 pages in the last book just opening that door and expanding on the tension between Will and Rob. And even giving Zayn and Nick more pages.

I kinda wanted to see more of the drunk girls at the bar. I loved the idea of giving Maren some girlfriends but that plot point died too.

In the end, the magic didn't matter too, which kind of frustrated me. The whole series they were being hunted for their abilities, and they were researching the origins of their abilities, but the guys who were after them didn't care. I still don't understand what they wanted with Maren then. And since that was apparently the end of their enemies, that was the end of their interest in their roots. No! I wanted more! I want to see this stuff come full circle.

It was entertaining and I've enjoyed the whole series, I just feel like I missed a whole book somewhere.

All in all, this was a good series. For me though, book one hit hard and I was hooked, desperate to find out what happens next.
Then unfortunately it was a little downhill from there. It just felt a little repetitive in the storyline and constantly-hovering danger.
I had high hopes for Maren to become much more powerful than she became. But she was still a tough FMC.
And I did enjoy LJ, Rob, Will and Tuck - each very different, but all obsessed with their woman.
Again, just personal preference - but for a why choose trope, I would’ve been happy if the spice level was upped tenfold! ;)

The story of Robin Hood has always been a special part of my childhood, so this series will have a permanent place in my heart forever.
I don't know if I fully understood what Maren was; I would have liked them to explore those themes more, but I really liked Tucker's theory about shapeshifters in this world. It was very different from what I usually read.
I absolutely loved the boys and their devotion to her. And I feel that Maren's personality is perfect for the story and for them. I feel that if she were more confrontational, you know? More... strong, so to speak, they would clash a lot. So I think she's perfect.

I was so excited to get this book, I needed to know how everything worked out. What a great conclusion for the series, I didn’t want to sleep until I finished. They guys were all great, all being there for Maren in their own way. I love LJ's protectiveness above all, the only person who mattered was His woman. After they got home they found that Rob had a bounty on his head, deciding they needed to turn the peoples thoughts of the group back in their favour. This was action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend this series.

Wow what an ending to an absolutely fantastic series.
After the standoff with Guy at the end of the last book, what’s left? Turns out quite a bit, the happy ending that they deserve isn’t quite on the horizon.
Rob has a price on his head and Maren is still in danger and Sherwood’s people are suffering for it.
I loved the relationships developing, but I’d have liked a little bit more spice and maybe a group scene. I’d love to read about these characters again, I kind of hope the author comes back to them in the future.

This was a fun way to end this series and it wrapped up pretty well - still some plot holes left open but overall still satisfying. Definitely needed another edit though but it was a fun enough storyline that I’m not giving it less than 3 stars.
I LOVED that we finally got the guy’s POVs in this book I think that honestly would have made the whole series better because I really enjoyed hearing their voices. Fun little lightly spicy series that if you’re looking for something that’s just fun vibes it’s worth reading.

Okay finally, this book finally got more point of views which the last 3 were severely lacking. But with this book, we got Ike 0 spice. And the plot was just hitting as well as the other 3. O relay do think this book was unnecessary and the series should have been a trilogy. There was no conflict, no more mentions of the shape shifting abilities and why they were so important? It’s a shame that this series has potential and well…I barely was motivated to finish it. What a shame.

Kings of Sherwood is book four in the series Shifters of Sherwood by author Jade R. Evans. A intriguing story that will have you wishing all good things for the criminals. Or I should say for the Robin Hoods. Omg I just got it- robbing hoods- Robin Hood. Did anyone else get that??!!
Ok anywho, this tale is full of surprises, rescues, and just about taking leaps of faith.
Enjoy!!

This is a 3.5 for me. This book was good but could have been better. The world build was going amazing but it falls flat because detailed background information is not given on the shifters and how it truly came about. Just as the previous books it has spice, FMC gets take and then rescued by all her men seems to be the main focus.

Got to read!!!

I hope people are reading this whole series! I’ve loved it! It definitely goes with the Robin Hood vibe. The story is great and keeps getting better! The twists come from no where! You think it’s going to go one way and then it gets you where you didn’t even know!!!! Definitely a worthy read!!!

This was the final book in the Shifters of Sherwood series, and I felt like it wrapped everything up well. Maren and the guys got a HEA, and the sheriff and her Uncle John finally got what was coming to them.

The ending was a little lackluster, and I wish there was more to it, but still a great read!

I’ve loved this series from Jade! I’m a big fan of a Robin Hood retelling & this has such a fun spin on it. Not only the magical/shifter element but it’s a why choose too with the girls getting her 4 (yes, 4 😉) guys!

Needless to say, the last book ties the series up very nicely after that cliffhanger of book 3. Maren is a fab FMC & each of the guys I live for all different reasons. So, if you like books with intrigue, a little suspense, a fair bit of spice & good overcoming bad, check out 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐉𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐑 𝐄𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐬.

Suspenseful and interesting if some what predictable it was still a good story but I wish they had dove deeper into certain things about some of the characters it felt like there was still loose ends and the mess got cleared up to easily. However, i still love the story and characters

I have loved this series from start to finish and this was a wonderful ending to it all - it certainly wasn't the ending I hoped or expected but one i enjoyed nonetheless!
I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who loves the story of Robin Hood!!

Really enjoyed the whole series. The last book felt like an afterthought? The big bad is handled at the end of book 3. I like the idea of the “after ever after” book but it was a bit underwhelming. Could probably read the first three books and think of 4 as an extended epilogue.

Good read overall. Felt like some of it was rushed. Wish there would have been more shifting and encounters between the characters. Much was built on the development of Maren and not much for the others.

2.5 Stars - This last book felt more like a filler book that was all over the place. The ending was super rushed. The whole series started out strong for me but as each book went on it seemed to go downhill which is a bummer.

series wasn’t bad but it just kept dragging on and i honestly think it should’ve ended after guy was killed. there are a lot of plot holes and i don’t think this series should have been four books. however, it was entertaining and i enjoyed the relationship between characters.

This is book four in the Sherwood Shifters series. What a great way to end this series. Tons of chaos of the best kind. Plus, kidnapping, heists, justice and a little vengeance as well.

The ending… blah. I liked how the characters all combined/meshed. I like Nick being added but I wished there was another book/epilgouge
