As an avid reader myself, and a Westcoast girl, I love two things: swoon-worthy pro athlete book boyfriends, and writing stories about them living in the beautiful Northwest where I'm blessed to call home.

I do my best work late at night after I’ve tucked in my three littles, and my hard-working husband.

Cute and fun to read!

There were definitely a few moments where I found myself yelling at my book like, “WTF are you doing? Why are you going to see him? Stooooop!” 😂 For a DR, Kendall pulled some seriously questionable moves at times.

This book is utterly riddled with editing errors:
• The brunette Aleksi is with in Finland turns blonde pages later.
• Tarron is called Trey.
• "Full-proof" is used not FOOL-PROOF.
• "Obsoletely" used instead of Absolutely.
• Word order muddled in so many sentences, and many more typos throughout. I even caught Aleksi spelt as Aleski in places. Like who edited this??

That being said, this was delightfully fun to read. Aleksi is a sweetheart and such a good guy. Kendall calls him 'sunshine' and honestly it fits him perfectly. Such a sunshine boy that had me grinning and kicking my feet this whole book. As usual, I could have done without this author's stupid third act drama pattern but at least it wasn't a break-up this time (because it can't be a break-up if they're not properly together yet). Kendall's refusal to do anything except give up to help both of their professional situations, and Aleksi's sudden insecurity about Tarron in the picture after their fight. Like of course she helped Tarron first; she's a bloody doctor and he was knocked to the ground and bleeding. Aleksi was upright and relatively unharmed, and still in his hockey gear unlike the plain-clothed football jerk. She reacted instinctively as a medical professional not a love interest. Major eyeroll.

Still I think this series gets better with each book and I'm looking forward to the next one.

Had high hopes, had an even higher letdown.

I have loved the Hawkeyes since the first book. I feel like this team is my family.

This is hands down the worst book in the series.

Trust me, it pains me to say it.

What else pains me? Aleksi and whatever he sees in Kendall. She’s been SO ruthlessly dishonest and distant from him and he worships the ground she walks on.

Ebola? They thought they would die? Please, no one was actually taking any of that seriously.
And what happened to his concussion?

She has the worst anxiety flying but had no problem getting on a plane and flying home?

The entire medical board drama was ridiculous at best.

They just didn’t care both allegations were from her ex husband? Who’s known to be unreliable? A guy gets in a fight after she’s getting physically abused and it’s her fault? And the medical boards are just 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

AND THEN all she had to do was get married and all the problems went away? She’s so smart but didn’t figure that out earlier?

And okay the grammar mistakes and writing inconsistencies had me dying. The “girlfriend’s” hair color was so important but she’s brunette in one chapter and blonde in another? Sentences just not sitting… right?

I think Kenna King is trying to get too many books released too fast and her writing is suffering.

Please, Kenna. I’m begging you. Slow down. Bring us back the original feelings from the Hawkeyes we all fell in love with. Let us see more of the Hawkeyes fam, let us be in all their lives. Not whatever this rushed soap opera was.

Spoilers…

I like Aleksi and he was a great MMC. However, Kendall creates every problem in this book herself for no reason. All the secrets and lies she kept from Aleksi was annoying and I never felt like they would be a good couple or even fit.
Aleksi is a wonderful example of someone stepping up and doing the right thing.

Kenna pushed back the release date of this book by a few days because she wanted to make a few corrections. While I enjoyed the book, I think there were still a few things that could have been refined. The entire story was going well, although I think there were a few details that either needed further development or needed to be eliminated altogether. However, in general, I could say that the book was a solid 3.5 or 3.75 rating for me...that is, until we reached the end. The last 10-15% of the book felt like a WTF momen,t and I didn't know if I was in a fever dream or in a cheesy 90's teen romcom. It fell apart, and I'm not really sure what or where it turned for me.

We were introduced to Aleksi a few books back, and I thought it was going to be this huge teddy bear with a bit of a diva complex. I mean, we always hear about his skincare regimen and how he is such a handsome guy. I was expecting a bit of Evan Zanders (from The Mile High) vibes with his overall aesthetic. You know the type...the guy that looks good and knows he looks good, howeve,r without the cockiness. It was so obvious that he was going to be this character that is friendly and loving and attentive, but I thought he would have a bit more flair and shine to his personality. That could not be farther from the truth. He really is just that good guy, with a next-door vibe, who loves his family, is a hard worker, and a bit of a flirt. Aleksi has worked his way up from being the underdog and has quietly made a place for himself both on the Hawkeyes team as well as within the NHL.
Kendall has had a somewhat rocky start. She didn't have the greatest childhood and very few opportunities, but through her determination, she made a career for herself. She allowed her heart to fall in love once before, but fame and fortune transformed her first love into strangers. That relationship almost cost her her career, and Kendall has had to work past the obstacles that her marriage brought her, and she is still standing and thriving. However, now Kendall is very careful with her heart and career, ensuring that she does not mix the two together again.

Easier said than done when Aleksi is constantly flirting with her and pursuing her. The team is in the final series of the playoffs, and Aleksi and Kendall are abandoned, far from civilization, with the possible threat of death looming over them. That sounds dramatic, and it is, but it's the excuse they use to finally cave into their chemistry without the guilt of repercussions. Here was my first WTF moment. Look, if you want to hook up, then hook up. However, as a medical professional, please use your better judgment than the teeny tiniest possibility of some virus (that hadn't been confirmed) to justify sleeping together. I think I would have believed it more if they had gotten drunk off their booty and had a night of passionate sex. But whatever.

Then...surprise pregnancy! Here, this whole part was great. I love how Aleksi was there for Kendall, how she allowed him to participate because, well, he is the father and shouldn't need permission when he hasn't been a total dick at any moment. I enjoyed how easy their relationship was. However, if their concern for their careers is that a relationship between the two is forbidden, I'm going to say that they did a crap job of hiding spending any time together or keeping the information from friends and teammates.

The part where Kendall's ex-husband reappeared in the picture...I'm not sure how I felt about this. I understand he was gaslighting her, but I couldn't get a read on him. Did I like him and feel bad for him until he proved he was still a crapy person? Did I distrust him the entire time? I just don't know. I don't know how I felt about him, and if he is supposed to be the villain, then I want to know that I dislike him from the very beginning. If he is just a narcissist, then portray him as that narcissist, without making me believe he has redeemable qualities.

And then we have the third-act break-up...would you catagorize it as that? They didn't break-up really, it was a distnce that they had to put between them to save their careers. I can't go into a lot of detail but it felt insignificant. We kept hearing of the penalities, the risk of being in a relationship and in the end it really felt like they were being sent to the principals office at school and didn't even leave with a slap on the wrist. It was hyped up a lot for no pay-off. And then, Aleksi and Kendall finally get together and make it official and it felt like some fever dream. I can't go into more details because..well, here is a spoiler alert:

Bring on Aleksi's story!! He's determined, persistent and so full of charm you don't know what to do with - he literally had my heart right from the beginning. He's had heart eyes for our Dr Kendall Hensen since joining the team, the physical attraction and chemistry between them is electric and he makes no secret to anyone and everyone that he's crushing hard for her. Our Doc however has been burnt before and has a strict no players policy, not just for personal but for professional reasons too.
She fought soooo hard not to give in, but Aleksi most definitely has all the come backs to match her every excuse, it's pretty hilarious. Their story was just chefs kiss, Aleksi never wavering, he knew exactly what he wanted and had a plan for everything - storming in as her knight in shining hocky gear every time without fail. LOVED book 4 from the Rookie Hawkeyes, a stand alone with interconnected characters because they are the best of friends! - This one is headed straight to my must read again pile, steam and swoon all round!

I really liked parts of this but disliked other parts. I loved the two main characters and I thought they made such a cute couple! I really liked how the MMC handled the pregnancy, he was so sweet and invested and thoughtful. I loved the friendship group, especially the women - they were so supportive, we love to see amazing female friendships in books!

I didnt really like the actual premise of how they spent the night together, it seemed SO random - but I probably could’ve excused that and still given the book a 4 star rating if not for the abysmal communication from the FMC at the end of the book. I absolutely hate when characters in a book make decisions that affect other people without discussing them with said people first? It was just so frustrating to read.

I really loved it! The accidental pregnancy trope was done really well. The life-or-death situation after the plane incident set everything in motion, and I was completely here for it. My heart broke a little because of everything her ex did to her, he’s already caused way too much damage. Such a thorn in my side! Nevertheless, I find it so beautiful how they found each other and chose one another despite all the circumstances and the trust issues.

ARC review! Let’s get into it

Hockey romance? Yes please

Come into the world of Hawkeyes Hockey meet Aleksi Mäkelin right winger & team doctor Kendall Hensen where one night changed everything for them!

Kenna always makes every story of hers unique honestly she could write 100 books in this Hawkeyes universe of hers and I would read and love every single one of

The chemistry they had before they even got together I LOVE when you can see that conveyed well in a book :) he was in love when he met her. They fit together so well

He made her a ring that she never took off 👀 LOVE that

Her ex-husband sucks!

I love this WAGS group so much and whenever there’s a cameo I swear I’m smiling wider at my phone like getting to see bits of Juliet in this book. The group of girls is so protective of one another and I love seeing that in the book even with all the romance, the biggest thing for me was how the girls showed up for each other

Aleksi is another guy on the team who kept showing up like he said he would and was there for her and his acts of service amazing 🙌 he’s observant and has been because he wanted to show her that they would be great together

I love that she comes first for him, that hockey isn’t the first thing on his mind, that whatever he was doing he’d drop it in an instant to be right by her side. She is his priority.

Kenna your fictional men have raised my standards more and more with each book

Hunter Reed 🤝 Aleksi Mälekin = acts of service kings

"I'm always bossy."

"Met my future wife today. She's the team doctor."

The podcast voice tells her she's safe, but I could have told her that myself. As long as I'm around, she always will be.
I'd say it out loud, but she's not ready to hear it. Maybe she never will be.

“You didn't have to-“
"I wanted to," I tell her.
Her eyes soften. "You always want to."

If you love your hockey romances chaotic, and powered by a sunshine-obsessed winger who would absolutely text his sister “Met my future wife today,” then buckle up, this one skates straight for the heart.

One bed, one night, one vending-machine condom later… Kendall’s pregnant, training camp is around the corner, and her walking red-flag ex suddenly wants a reunion. What follows is equal parts swoon, found family warmth from the Hawkeyes WAGs and players, and emotionally messy choices that make you want to shake Kendall by the shoulders and hug her at the same time. Aleksi shows up with unconditional devotion—truly the greenest of green flag MMCs but Kendall’s instinct to protect herself (and bulldoze through consequences solo) creates every bit of the storm they’re forced to weather.

It’s still delightfully fun. The banter sparkles. The chemistry simmers. The team antics and found family moments are peak Hawkeyes charm. Kendall may frustrate you, but Aleksi will have you grinning, kicking your feet, and rereading his soft, patient declarations. It’s accidental pregnancy high drama, higher heart, and even when the emotional plays get messy, love (and one very determined winger) refuses to stay benched. A swoony, slightly chaotic hockey romance. Go Hawkeyes.

✨ Player X Team Doctor
✨ He Falls First (Not so Secret Crush)

“Some stories start with a crash. Some with a kiss. Ours started with both—and became the greatest win of my life.”

Do you love it when the main male character knows exactly what he wants and goes for it, with an accidental pregnancy and a forbidden player and team doctor romance thrown in? This is a book for you! This was another smash for the Hawkeye Rookies Series - Kenna King killed it AGAIN! This series has quickly become one of my favorites - I finished this book in 24 hours! I am completely obsessed with Kendal and Aleksi! Aleski is 100% book boyfriend material - swoon! The star map was the most perfect detail - it shows true thought and love!

Aleski (MMC) is new to the NHL, having recently been called up by the Hawkeyes. From the moment he walked into the locker room and saw the team doctor, he was hooked, experiencing instant love at first sight. Dr. Kendal Hensen (FMC) is the new team doctor for the Hawkeyes and is new to the NHL, having spent her previous time in the NFL. She has a past and has always been second choice in her life, so when someone wants to put her first and makes her feel safe, she doesn't know if she should run or fall into it. Aleski doesn’t hide how he feels about Kendal. But Kendal has one rule - NO PLAYERS (you have to eventually learn from your mistakes, right?). One plane malfunction, a “one night only” promise, and expired hotel vending machine condoms lead to an accidental pregnancy and set Kendal and Aleski on a path that almost seems inevitable or written in the stars. Aleski is full of conviction and unwavering affection and love for Kendal and is willing to do everything to prove this. Kendal is pushing back, but she is willing to do anything to protect the man she is falling in love with, even though he was supposed to be off-limits, even if she has to give up everything to protect him.

Thank you to Kenna King for this ARC!

"Let me show you what it looks like when someone stays."

"Doesn’t matter what it is. I don’t walk away when things get bad."

"It’s just…ever since I found out you’re pregnant, I keep walking into my apartment like I forgot something. I’ll stand there for a minute, keys still in the door, trying to figure out what’s missing. And it always hits me. It’s you. It’s you and the baby. That’s what’s missing."

When Aleksi meets the Hawkeye hockey team doctor Kendall, he texts his sister in Finland, "Met my future wife today. She's the team doctor." Too bad Kendall has strict rules about fraternizing with the players. Once again, one of my favorite romance authors, Kenna King, has crafted a love story filled with angst, drama, humor, spice, and most of all, swoony romance.

Kendall is still not settled after a tumultuous divorce from her NFL player husband that left her humiliated by his cheating and in debt with his frivolous spending sprees. No matter how attracted she is to the charming Aleksi she can't let her guard down; nor give the medical board a reason to revoke her medical license for misconduct.

But a possible viral infection on an airplane has the CDC quarantine her and Aleksi in the same motel room. A night of passion and a condom from the vending machine has Kendall and Aleksi on a hard fought road to keep their jobs and each other.

Kennedy and Aleski story would be one to remember, a chance emergency throwing them confined together forces them to face the lingering stares, the flirty banter and to break Kennedy No player rule once and for all. But not everything stays in a shabby motel in Nevada.

I really enjoyed the story, I loved the characters, especially Aleski, he is the definition of if he wanted to be would. However Kennedy was less easy to love, I found that 90% of the problems, drama and issues within her life fell there because of her. She created all of them, and I feel like we didn’t get enough chemistry and tension between our couple as a large portion she spent avoiding him for one reason or the other.

Now this could have very easily been a 4-5 star book and review however it’s hard to get past some glaring editing issues, that readers didn’t have time to bring to the attention of the author as this book was early released with them in it. We have typos, wrong names (a problem in the previous book of Vivi and Treys) and pronoun issues too. And now I know what you’re thinking? A few typos shouldn’t discredit the enjoyment of a book by 2 stars. But these were often in some important moments such as Penelope being referred to as a he, and his during officiating their wedding.

If this had been the only book these issues occurred in, I’d have put it down to the rapid release and editing issues, but this has happened in the previous book too and it’s disheartening to see people accuse the author of using AI.

All this book needed was some firmer editing and this never would have been an issue. It’s sad that this book didn’t get the rating it deserves and I hope the next in the series is better vetted.

I was so excited to get Aleksi's book and, as usual, Kenna King did not disappoint.
This had a combination of so many of tropesI love: hockey romance, workplace romance, doctor vs patient romance, strong female friendships, found family, one-night stand, sports romance, and accidental pregnancy
MC's:
Aleksi: golden retriever, twin sister, positive family relationship/close-knit family, knows what he wants and goes for it
Kendall: team doctor, independent, stubborn, workaholic, horrible divorce, scared to let down her guard
Just a few of my :
"Let me show you what it looks like when someone stays."
"Doesn't matter what it is. I don't walk away when things get bad."
"I need to get off this plane."
"Some stores start with a crash. Some with a kiss. Ours started with both-and became the greatest win of my life."
"You're doing all the hard work, Kendall. You're growing me my own little best friend. So let me handle a few easy things."
The banter between our two MCs is superb. The chemistry is mind-melting!
This book is chaotic in all the best ways!
Some trigger warnings (I always like to share): divorce, infidelity, violence, alcohol, CPS, parental loss, and addiction. Hopefully, I was able to catch all of them in my notes (yes, I take notes on Kenna King books because they are that phenomenal).
The ending was divine and everything I wanted in the conclusion of this story!
The plot structure was well done.
The characters were well-developed and showed growth.
This was book four in Rookie Hawkeye's series, and so far, Kenna King has not let us down!
Do yourself a favor and read this immediately. I read it in one sitting and couldn't put it down.
Thank you to Kenna King for the opportunity to read and review this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
Happy Reading!

The ultimate forced proximity

I always enjoy Kenna’s books, but this one hit me in the tear ducts WAY more than I expected, but in a good way. I cried multiple times. This is lower on the spice scale, but the emotional scale and romance is absolutely off the charts. Let’s dive into Kendall (NHL team doctor) and Aleksi’s (NHL right winger) tale.

Kendall and Aleksi’s love story starts the moment they meet when he immediately texts his twin sister in Finland to tell her he just met his future wife, and his devotion and support never wavers. This man puts in the work to earn her trust and love over years before she finally succumbs to their attraction for “just one night”. She’s been burned in the past and has vowed to never date a player but when they’re forced into a CDC quarantine, she takes a chance to have something she desperately wants (and honestly needs) with Aleksi. His super-powered sperm and expired vending machine condoms guarantee that it won’t end here.

Things I loved - they let each other speak their love languages! Kendall isn’t always comfortable letting Aleksi take care of her but she understands that it’s something he needs. And he doesn’t love that she protects him at her own expense, but he lets her stand strong and supports her. Also, the found family aspect of this whole series continues to shine through. There’s nothing this team and their families won’t do for each other, and that includes team management and coaching.

Thanks so much to Kenna for the gifted eARC! All opinions are my own.

This book was everything!!! I met Aleksi in book 2 of The Rookie Hawkeyes series, and since then I couldn’t wait for his story!! We always knew he was going to end up with Kendall; it was just when Kendall was going to let her guard down to let him in. Aleksi is a golden retriever and HOTTTT! This man was everything and more, and you were just rooting for him to get his happy ever after. In this book, you learn more about this man and you understand why he is the way he is. Everything he does for Kendall before the pregnancy was adorable, and how he noticed little things about her like how she was scared to fly! My heart. And then when he found out she was pregnant with his baby, all bets were off!! This man was crazy about his little family and did everything he could to show Kendall he was going to be there for them, and he wasn’t like his ex!! Kendall, she’s the team doctor and she is very wary about relationships, especially after her ex drained their accounts and made her fight for her medical license! I hated him and was so glad when Aleksi broke his nose!!😂 I also love the found family in this series and how everyone helps Aleksi when Kendall stopped talking to him to make sure she was taking care of them. I also loved how Aleksi was willing to give up everything to have his little family; that hockey wasn’t the first thing for him; it was them. Also, the star scene had me bawling because this man bought his unborn baby a star from the night he was told!! Bawling! You can go read this book and series on Kindle Unlimited because you want all these hockey boys in your life!!

🩺Doctor FMC

DNF at 25%. It's just not realistic at all. Activity should be minimized after a concussion. The MMC has a history of heart defect and multiple surgeries but somehow is immune to all concussion symptoms after the game.

With a brand new concussion he runs in an airport carrying 5 heavy bags, flies on a plane, endures a quick descent because of an emergency landing, gets in a hot tub, drinks beer, and then has sex for three hours. This is all in the first 24-48 HOURS of a concussion with zero nausea or headache or anything. He did everything you're not supposed to do with a concussion and I can't get past it.

If you can look past the concussion, this book has a great MMC. The MMC is down bad and it's so swoony.
He was so sweet to her.

The FMC is strong in the beginning but makes a bunch of really dumb decisions. I picked it back up and tried to keep going but those bad decisions took me out! DNF again at 39%.

I love Kenna King's writing style and the other characters she creates! I have enjoyed all the other books in this series but I will be skipping this one. I can't wait for book 5!

⭐ 5/5

Aleksi and Kendall

This story follows Aleksi and Kendall. It is book four in this series and contains a workplace romance with an accidental pregnancy.
Despite him being not a rookie in age, Aleksi is a rookie for the Hawkeyes and the league.
Kendall is a team doctor who worked formerly in the football world.
But a cheating ex-husband and a scandal brought her here.
Aleksi fell for her at first sight, but rules and a woman with a guarded heart and mind are not in his favor.
A flight with an emergency brings them closer and leads them into roles with no options.
But Kendall tries to do the right thing, even if that means breaking Aleksi's heart - and her own.
With the help of friends and emotions that are stronger than rules and paperwork, Kendall and Aleksi get to where they belong.
Aleksi’s situation broke my heart. He is so sweet, caring and supporting and determined. But because of her past he is about to miss many important stations in her pregnancy.
I can totally relate to Kendall but her choices hurt herself too, and therefore I could not dislike her.
In the end everything ended exactly the way it was supposed to be. With a sweet and wonderful happy end.

Player Misconduct by Kenna King is an emotional romance that had me hooked from the start. Kendall, the dedicated team doctor for the NHL’s Hawkeyes, is an FMC you root for—strong, guarded, and still healing from a past that nearly cost her everything. Enter Aleksi, the charming, determined rookie who falls for her the instant they meet. Their chemistry is hard to ignore, but what really makes this book special is the gentle, persistent way Aleksi works to earn her trust.

Kendall’s reluctance to get involved with a player feels relatable as someone who also doesn’t like to take risks, but watching her walls slowly come down is so rewarding. When an unexpected night in quarantine leads to a surprise pregnancy, Kendall finds it more and more difficult to ignore the connection she and Aleksi have as fate seems to have brought them together. With the added difficulty of the media, these two have it anything but easy. Instead of drama for drama’s sake, Kenna King gives us a story of growth, and vulnerability from both MCs.

Aleksi’s devotion makes him impossible not to adore. Together, Kendall and Aleksi navigate fear, hope, and the messy, but magical process of becoming a family. Their journey is romantic, and full of moments that will make you smile, swoon, and, if you’re like me, even tear up. Highly recommend.

"Some stories start with a crash. Some with a kiss. Ours started with both—and became the greatest win of my life."

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️4.75

Kenna absolutely outdid herself with this one. This is officially my new favorite in the series, and I honestly don’t know how the next book could top it. Aleksi and Kendall’s story is so heartfelt, full of banter, drama, and an overwhelming amount of love.

Aleksi is the definition of a green flag—genuine, mature, patient, and willing to do anything for Kendall. I was completely swooned by him from start to finish. His unwavering belief in what they have, his tenderness, and the way he shows up amd fights for Kendall… I melted every time.

Kendall is headstrong, independent, hardworking, and deeply dedicated, even if she’s guarded and struggles with trust. Watching her open up made the story that much more emotional.

The entire Hawkeyes family is just wholesome. They’re supportive, present, and always show up for each other in the best ways.

And of course, I loved the hockey scenes. Kenna’s research and attention to detail always shine; she drops you right into the action every single time.

Overall, I adored this book.

Player Misconduct is everything I love about sports romance—except somehow even better. Kendall and Aleksi’s chemistry? Off the charts. I swear, every time she tried to resist him, I was grinning and rooting for Aleksi’s next smooth (and hilarious) comeback. The man is honestly a walking highlight reel of charm, and I’d watch him flirt with the weather if I could.

The whole quarantine, “one bed, one night, what could go wrong?” situation is just chef’s kiss. Watching Kendall’s walls finally start to crumble because Aleksi just keeps showing up for her—never giving up, always steady—made me feel all mushy inside. I love a hero who doesn’t just talk the talk but proves it, over and over, and Aleksi nails it.

And the world-building? I’m obsessed. The Rookie Hawkeyes crew is the friend group I wish I had. The WAGS are hilarious and loyal and honestly, every time Juliet popped up, I was grinning like a fool at my screen. I want to be adopted into this circle, please and thank you.

Aleksi really stands out among all the Hawkeye heroes. He’s all about acts of service and being there for Kendall, and honestly, it works. I was swooning. Hard.

Book 4 is absolutely going on my “read again immediately” shelf. It’s hilarious, sexy, heartfelt, packed with found family, and features a hero who never stops choosing his girl. I loved every minute—and now I need the next one, stat. 🏒🔥💙

Better Together

Aleksi is the reason I finished this book with ease! He had already fallen for Kendall long before she gave him a shot. I thoroughly enjoyed how smoothly the story line showed the quick banter and flirtatious conversation and transitioned to him getting a chance. I also appreciated knowing Kendall’s back story, it helped me understand WHY she was so stubborn (stubbornness which ultimately knocked a star off for me) Aleksi was persistent and it paid off. We got to see them explore their relationship and happy until conflict arose. I’m not going to line I was surprised to see read where in the book the conflict finally came about. We got to see the ex husband in action and then dislike him even more. Aleksi was more patient than I could’ve imagined and more understandable than I could stomach at one point. I loved how Kendall’s friends were supportive but kept her accountable and encouraged her to move forward. By the end Aleksi was my hero too, bursting through the walls Kendall had put up and saving the day, especially mine since I wanted to finish the book. Her stubbornness and pushing him away was at an all time high for me. BUT in the end I swooned and was so excited for how their story ended! Loooooove the story, especially him!

The way I inhaled this book is insane. It was so good! Accidental pregnancy trope isn’t for everyone but I liked how this one was written.

Characters:
Kendall Hensen
Aleksi Mäkelin

Aleksi is so in love with Kendall from the beginning of the book. He pays attention to her needs and goes out of his way to comfort her. She needs safety after her previous relationship and he provides it to her in every way possible.

Kendall has a lot of scars from her previous relationship and her upbringing. These experiences shape how she moves in the world. Aleksi breaks down walls by showing up for her again and again. He shows her what a functional family looks like.

I liked the way the author characterized the pregnancy and Aleksi’s relationship with the process. He was screaming dad vibes from the time he knows. Also, the parent that needs to know everything about the process.

What to Expect:
Dual POV
Hockey romance
One bed
Accidental pregnancy
Hockey player x team doctor
Found family
He falls first
Golden retriever MMC

Spice:
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

Thank you Kenna King for providing me with an advanced copy of this book!

One-liner: Dang this was pretty good and had me in my FEELS.

Quick notes:
- Fkn brutal depiction of being with the wrong man and the havoc it can cause. Honestly, loved how the past relationships is portrayed as exactly what it is - raw and ugly and toxic. Despite others maybe finding Kendall’s sometimes indulgent attitude towards her ex, I like how the narration explores her motives for indulging. She’s not being stupid; she knows that what she’s doing is not a good thing and she’s still doing it. Anyone that has been in a toxic relationship understands that this is exactly what it’s like. The honesty of her narration and strength to ability grow past him and her history with him are a testament to her.
- Omg Kenna King AGAIN with the women losing their jobs. However, I did appreciate that Aleksi fully showed up for her and both defended her and created a solution, as opposed to past books where this wasn’t the case. But seriously, please stop writing women who willingly give up their careers for men, Kenna King. Thank you. It’s so consistent across the novels that it’s actually becoming frustrating.
- Aleksi is just too fkn cute. All round. Loving the MMCs in this series.

Thank you so much to the author for the eARC!

Wow, just wow! I couldn’t put this book down as I had to know what happened next. Aleksi and Kendall’s story was absolutely breathtaking and amazing!

Kendall is the Hawkeyes’ team doctor, constantly traveling with the team and taking care of every player. Her past is heartbreaking starting with her mother to her ex-husband. That past has left her rule-driven, guarded, and determined to keep her distance from anyone on the roster. It’s also made her try to solve everything on her own, no matter the consequences.

Then comes Aleksi, the perfect golden-retriever MMC who’s been crushing on her since the moment they met a year ago. He’s determined, protective, and charming, but only when it comes to Kendall. When she finally gives in to a one-night-only moment, he takes that chance and gives her a night she’ll never forget.

I loved this book and their entire journey. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, and you can’t help but root for Aleksi and Kendall to find their way to each other and for their HEA!
