It’s not about the rules anymore. It’s about the sacrifice.
She’s already given up too much to lose faith now.
Gabe has walked away, and Mandy’s fate with the Raddick Initiative is hanging in the balance. Media attention has the whole town talking. Friends are making wild assumptions, and one of her own teammates has turned on her.
She doesn’t know where she stands anymore—not with her father, her sister, her district team, or the man she’s fallen in love with.
Her dad is a habitual liar, her sister is keeping secrets, and Gabe won’t even look in her direction. She wants answers. She wants to break down their walls. She’s convinced the world is out to get her, but one, hard look in the mirror could’ve saved her from learning the truth the hard way: it’s her walls that are causing most of the damage.

One of the best books I've read especially when it comes to a student who is in High School. It's about this girl, Mandy, who just wants to shut herself off to the world to protect herself. It has worked for her for years until she meets Gabe, who is the president of a program that gives back to the town, school and the community. She signs up to the program before even meeting him to get an opportunity at getting a college scholarship. But once she meets him, she immediately fights her feelings for him which meets an extremely unexpected ending in Book 1. Mandy is not the only one with secrets, scars and fears. Gabe is too, but he tries to hide it from Mandy. It is a beautiful struggle between the two who are trying to figure out what they want and if they should even try.
When is it ok to bare yourself and let yourself go? When is it time to stop protecting yourself and take a risk? What does "perfect" really mean? How does love should behave? Those questions are what they are struggling with.
At the end of Book 1, we see an unexpected ending when Mandy finally reveals her feelings. In this book, she struggles with losing her footing in the relationship with Gabe. Amazingly enough, this book is even better than the first!!! This book will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Again, I applaud this character and how she deals with it. Even when it's hard, she pushes through. You just want to cheer her on, even when she wants to fall apart.
You know a book is good when it's even better than the first. This is one of them. You won't regret it!
This book kind of went in circles and it was kind of annoying. Some questions are answered. The bigger questions. But I want to know other things. Like, how is she in love with Gabe when she hardly knows him? She knows small things about him but he hasn't opened up about himself, which she complains about throughout the book, yet she claims to be in love with him. Hopefully she has a reason to love in him the next book because so far I'm not sure what's going on in that head of hers. She knows more about Carla than she knows about Gabe!
Kind of hesitant to read the third book. These books are cute but there are just some things that are too cheesy or don't fit. The writing is so-so as well, but I think it's the same for the whole series.
I read the first and second books in one night. I didn't know there were three books in the series as I only had book one. With the ending of the first I knew there had to be another book - I just wasn't sure if it was out- it was an I bought it and finished this book in one night. I just couldn't put them down. I haven't done that in a while. I wanted to see how it ends. Now I have to purchase the third book to read it tonight.
I had a credit at Amazon and since I hate cliffhangers and loose ends....I had to go ahead and spend the $2.99 and get this one. It was ok....meh....yeah, it was ok. I would say about half the book is just reprints of previous conversations and memories of those conversations. It did not really seem to GO anywhere fast. It mostly picks up where the first book leaves off. I really felt like if Mandy could have just gotten over herself and thinking that the whole world revolved around her, the first book would have sufficed. But that is where we go in this book. Plenty of whining and pouting and giving other people the silent treatment until she has the "AHA!" moment and realizes she is the problem. A couple of other fluffy semi-supporting events occur and it's done....except again, with the cliffhanger at the end. I won't get the next book. I just cannot invest any more time into this character. She is exhausting.
STOP reading right now unless you want a serious spoiler here..... ok, you were warned.
I knew from the start of the first book that Gabe had some major accident during his time in Iraq. I was SO disappointed when the big reveal finally occurred. I was really expecting a prosthetic leg. It would have been so appropriate and really shown if Mandy could handle all of Gabe's scars and issues. But that was not the case. Yeah, he had a really bad accident in Iraq and had a really bad scar and an artificial knee. But crap, my sister has a scar from her knee surgery too that is over 15 inches long. She is not ashamed of it and doesn't hide it. It was just a real letdown for Gabe to finally show Mandy his leg and it be "yeah, I got hit by a bomb and my knee got destroyed and here is the scar".
I wish I could have liked Mandy a little more. I just never could wrap my head around her behavior and the way she treated people

I thought that this book was amazing! I was so surprised how the book was set up and it made me so excited! I think Mandy was very smart to quit the program and that Clara is such a big jerk! I chose this book because I had read the first book and I absolutely loved it. I would recommend this book if you love romance, suspense, family problems, everything that happens in real life happens in this book and that is why I would recommend. My favorite part of this book is when Mandy is talking to Clara and she sys what's on her mind. She doesn't even know that Gabe is right behind her when she says those things until he tells her that she is worth it. Mandy changed a lot, she realized that she was hurting and so was Gabe, she took all her anger and put it on Gabe and get family. When she finally realizes what she has to do and does it, I think she did the right thing by quitting the program. One of my favorite quotes in the book is when Mandy says "I’m not sure Gabe is a Prince Charming, but if he were, I’d be happy to be his princess.” I absolutely love that part! This series has one more book called Breaking ties and by this time I am already finished with it.

I was anxious to see how Mandy and Gabe's story continued to progress and I wasn't disappointed. This book not only provided more insight into Mandy and Gabe (making you love them even more) but it also revealed more about other characters, making you attached to them as well. My emotions were all over the place while reading this. I was just like "NO!!!!" "Seriously?!?!" "I don't believe it!" "Aww I love him" "Omg I hate her" Lol. There was a lot going on and I loved it all. I can't wait to read the final book in this series
Oh, the ending had me grinning and teary-eyed! Tracie Puckett always creates such unique characters. Mandy is not your typical protagonist. She's figuring things out, an it's never easy for her. Puckett has crafted a believable environment where life isn't perfect and surviving high school and the problems that come with it isn't easy. I loved following Mandy's journey so far, and can't wait to see what happens next. BREAKING WALLS is yet another Puckett home run.
Yep. Lots of angst in this one. Mandy is dealing with the aftermath of book #1 and she is barely coping. Everyone seems to have it in for her... or is she just imagining things? Is it their fault or hers? It was a good ending. I can't wait to read the next book.
I enjoyed reading this book because you really got to see what went on inside Mandy's head and how she thinks and why she put the rules there in the first place. Also you begin to understand the betrayal and hurt she had kept inside of her for so long.
This second book in the series is even better than the first! I just can't get enough of Mandy, Gabe, Bailey and all the rest. This is a great series so far and will definitely be reading the next book.
This book series for me seems so slow but it's a great team book for back-and-forth and all of the cattiness think this girl seems to be going through is kind of a downer for me but the wording in the with the author a box in is good
3.5* I liked this sequel to the first book. Dramatic, yes. Cute, yes. Mushy, yes. The second book was more about choices rather than the characters and I really liked the message Puckett conveyed.
