This is a nice collection of essays on various authors and Catholic seeds placed in their works. Some seeds are intentional as the author lives out their Catholic/Christian faith but others are less intentionally placed truths woven into stories. Reading this book inspired me to add a few new books and authors to my "to read" list.
This is a collection of essays on the religious aspects of popular sci-fi/ fantasy authors.
Authors covered are:
George MacDonald Bram Stoker Robert Louis Stevenson Robert E. Howard Madeline L'Engle Frank Herbert Philip K. Dick (I wrote this one) Robert Jordan G.K. Chesterton Oscar Wilde George Bernanos Louis de Wohl Walker Percy Walter Miller Shusaku Endo Ralph McInerny Michael D O'Brien Suzanne Collins Gene Luen Yang Ben Hatke
The essays were commissioned by Voyage Comics- a Catholic publisher. I believe all of the essay writers (including me) are Catholic. I haven't read all of the entries yet, but it should be no surprise to anyone that the contents lean towards religious devotion and inspiration.
I'm not going to give a star rating because of the obvious conflict. I highly encourage anyone and everyone to check it out. (Especially my essay!)
