Taina de la Matta is no longer anyone’s victim. She’s out for vengeance, prepared to collect her pound of flesh with added tax. In her mad pursuit, she stalks the man who brutalized her, determined to make sure he knows his days are numbered.
But her road to revenge takes an unexpected detour when she catches the eye of Emiliano Piñeros, the golden boy of the city’s most dangerous family.
Drawn into a ruthless world where he’s determined to keep her safe, Taina realizes she must choose between settling the score in blood and surrendering to a love she never saw coming.
Cynthia hates writing her own bio. In her down-time, you can find her watching movies, ranging anywhere from classic to action flicks (she has a weakness for Marvel adaptations), and reading any novel she can get her hands on.
She loves hearing from her readers! You can reach Cynthia at cynthia.a.rodriguez6@gmail.com. Both her Twitter and Instagram handles are @thecynrodriguez.
If you want to go even darker, this companion novel to Rodriguez’s Lovesick, features a woman determined to get revenge on the man who brutalized her. But when “Cartel prince” Emiliano sees her, he’s determined to keep her safe, even if he has to go to certain lengths to do so. This story features cross-cultural Latine rep, which is always cool to see, and a whole lot of dark subjects. Check the content warnings before you get started! —Jessica Pryde
I cannot overstate how much I loved Lovefool. Am I…a dark romance girlie now?
Taina, who survived a brutal and traumatic kidnapping/SA is committed to taking her life back, one life at a time, when she meets charismatic, kind, charming Emiliano, who is the brainy golden child of the city's most infamous crime family. Taina was so incredibly likable despite being a "morally black" character. Even though my girl was a woman with a mission, she was also smart, strong, soft, and sharp as hell. She didn't let Emiliano or her parents walk all over her, but she also allowed herself to be vulnerable and trusting and took her life back on her own terms.
Emiliano was so perfect OMG. He was equal parts gentle and protective, also incredibly intelligent and strong without being hypermasculine or beating his chest about the kind of man he is. I adored how he gave Taina space to be herself and give him answers in her own time. The way they were so in sync with each other's wants and needs despite not knowing each other for long was incredible. I also loved the vaquero storyline and how Emiliano honored his father's life on the ranch.
This was my first time reading anything by Cynthia A. Rodriguez, and I am completely hooked in! I overall loved her writing style, loved how she incorporated Mexican and Puerto Rican cultures, and enjoyed the pacing of the story as well. The way she made sure my girl got all the justice that was due her and then some?! Yeah, she ate that. The spice was perfectly sprinkled throughout, passionate, and fun to read, I have no complaints there.
I am going to read Lovesick, the first novel in this series, very soon, and am holding my breath for book 3!
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC!
LoveFool may be the second book in the Folie à Deux series, but it can definitely be read on its own. There are ties to the first book LoveSick, but it isn't necessary to read in order to enjoy this story of trauma and revenge in the land of politics and cartel.
Taina is a woman that has experienced some major trauma in her past and her family is anything but supportive. She is tough as nails on the exterior, doing what her parents request (in her own way) and is seeking vengeance on those that have wronged her. The people that have caused her pain and trauma are no longer safe. Taina has her eyes set on her end game and she is about to take them all out.
Then there's Emiliano. The golden retriever cartel lawyer that will do anything for his family and his loved ones. Blood on his hands is another day. But now he wants a sense of normalcy. When he crosses paths with the fierce and fiery Taina, he is intrigued and wants to make her his. The lengths he goes to pursue Taina is almost a step towards stalker, but he does it in a way that shows he cares. That he will burn the world for her and do it with pleasure. And when she needs him, he is there to support her and give her what she needs. The sky's the limit.
'Maybe it'd be nice to join a family where people would actually kill for you.'
No one gives you feminine rage quite like Cynthia A. Rodriguez, but expect some twists. I wasn't sure where she was going to take this story and make it unique, but she surprised me on how it all came to a head. The way she brought everything from the Hispanic language, culture, family and vengeance and had it come together was pretty darn fantastic. It was exciting and sexy and a little romantic, yet filled with lies. This story felt more real with a side of "softness" than the previous book. More beauty within the relationships. More quiet. More stealth. But then Cynthia pierces you with her words and lets the blood fall. Any way she gives it, it's going to be an experience.
'Men need to feel uncomfortable around women far more often. Shit, men need to FEAR women. Our rage is far too calculated.'
This story had a bit of everything. Deceit. War. Love. Banter. Chemistry. All the vibes. Would I have liked to see more on page physical revenge from Taina? Sure. But we did get some much needed blood on our hands. Plus, I was here more for Emiliano's "touch her and die" vibes. He may not have been the head of the cartel, but he would protect those that he loved and give them a chance to act their revenge no matter what.
If you like: A Multicultural couple with a fierce FMC that is out for revenge and protective yet soft MMC that falls first and hard with all the touch her and d1e vibes, this book will hit all the right notes.
*edit to add....if you've read this review this far, then you should know that Ms Rodriguez wants you to read to THE VERY END. You HAVE to read to the very last page of any Cynthia Rodriguez book. If you think the end is really the end, then you must keep turning those pages until you no longer can. Trust me on this one. ;)
The fact that I finished this book in 2 days tells you everything you need to know about how good it was. I received this book as an ARC (thank you Cynthia🫶🏼) and I was immediately hooked just from the sneak peeks. My favorite part about this book was Emiliano— how patient he was with Taina’s trauma, his gentlemanly demeanor, and he’s just such a MAN😩 For the plot, I thought it was great my only small critique would be I would have loved to see a scene with Taina in action being the bad b**ch that she is, like not just threatening her therapist but que se yo stabbing somebody😂 I just wanted more because I loved the story so much honestly. But other than that, the book truly had me HOOKED and the plot twist was incredible— I literally gasped out loud in my uber cause I did not see it coming at all!! Bravo Cynthia, this was amazing and I can’t wait for what you write next!
My 100th book of the year!! This is crazy This book was PHENOMENAL! I think I loved it even more than Lovsick if that’s possible. Taina!!!!!!! Emiliano!!!!! I love them so much The last 30% of the book actually took it to 6 stars for me
ok would I say mindf*ck level obsession? no. but what I will say is that I had fun reading this book.
this is cynthia’s second book and I truly can’t wait to see where she’ll go from here!! i feel like this just needed some touching up but as I read the ARC that definitely could’ve been updated for the release 🫡 (even if it wasn’t, they were very minor and in my head I could just change it while reading)
emiliano and taina were amazing, both bad asses and emiliano was of course, pathetically down bad for taina 🤩
overall a great book and recommend supporting your indie authors!!!
Thanks to the author, Cynthia Rodriguez for the e-ARC of LoveFool in exchange for an honest review.
LoveFool is a dark romance that involves the mafia/cartel and heavy topics, so if the plot summary interest you, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE TRIGGER WARNINGS, because the book does go in depth on heavy topics like sexual assault.
I will start by saying that for the most part I enjoyed the book. I liked the writing and Taina story was one that was handled with care. Emiliano was a perfect mmc, despite his "criminal" background, so it make sense that they were good for each other. I girl that has never been taken care of properly, and a guy that all he wants to do is take care of her? yeah it works.
My issue with the book is, that it had so much potential (romance wise) and it felt kinda flat. There was a lot of tell and not show, and I particularly don't like that if I want to believe the romance in the story. While the other plot points of the book were SO interesting, and kept me engaged, the romance was just not developed enough imo.
I LOVED the little nods to other book like Shadowed Obsession from Evelyn Leigh and I loved seeing woman get revenge on those that wronged her (I am look at YOU specifically, Mrs De La Matta), but I do wish the romance had more time to develop, even more so when you have a character that needed more time to heal from her past. Don't get me wrong, the mmc respected that and I really enjoyed how the author went about consent in the book, but again, I wanted more show than tell.
Will be checking out more from Cynthia in the future.
I was excited to read a dark Latine romance with a strong FMC and strong MMC. Heed the trigger warnings as there was quite a bit of strong material. The story begins with Taina who is recovering from brutal SA with absolutely no emotional support from her parents and mediocre support from a therapist. Her one mission is to get back at the man that destroyed her peace. We then meet Emiliano, a dedicated son, and brother, who is instantly intrigued by Taina's attitude toward him. The pacing felt a bit slow getting these two to connect but the banter along the way is so good. It was refreshing to read the Latin American influences and nod to the culture. Those were my favorite parts of the story, the dedication to family on Emiliano's side and the portrayal of the inner workings of his family. The harder to read parts were Taina's treatment by her parents, I felt there could've been more explained here. It also felt a bit rushed when Taina and Emiliano get together and her trust. Given the twist towards the end, I would've expected her to have fought more the relationship. I will say that the twist while it is great is foreshadowed and doesn't really end up being a twist. The last 10% of the book was action filled and was a lot of fun to read. It just felt this could've been distributed more throughout.
This book was one hell of a ride and I ate it right up! I already knew I loved Cynthia’s writing from Lovesick, but this story had me in a chokehold and refused to let go!
A fierce, badass Puerto Rican FMC who doesn’t take shit from anyone and is determined to get her revenge. And a Mexican cowboy who’s the son of the city’s most dangerous cartel leader. Hell yeah, Taina and Emiliano had me obsessed!
The banter and the way Emiliano was so down bad for this woman, had me weak! He was the perfect gentleman and knew how to treat his woman! This story had the perfect amount of action and spice, and let me tell you, the spice hit just right! 🔥 Emiliano and Taina’s story was absolute perfection! 🖤
If you love dark romance, this is the type of story that will leave you wanting more! You have to add this to your TBR now!
Thank you to Cynthia Rodriguez for this incredible ARC!
I absolutely LOVED this! The gorgeous covers (including the special edition) will catch your attention by themselves!!!
What to expect:
• Multicultural (Puerto Rican/Mexican) • Feminine Rage • Cowboys/Vaqueros • Thicker Than Water • Touch Her and Die • He Falls First/Harder • “Enough” Movie Vibes
Blood spilled is blood owed.
Revenge, romance, and rage anyone? You will NOT regret the ride… all the way to the very end.
Taina is a baddie who reclaims herself in her fierceness, even if no one else will do it for her.
That is until Emiliano. He is down BAD for her, and is a MAN in all that he is!
“You’ll never open a door, hold a bag, or reach for your wallet in my presence. Understood?”
I love a story about a FMC that is a traüma survivor hell bent on revenge. I was so obsessed with the background and depth of the characters themselves that it didn’t matter if there was spice or not! But I loved the spice in this when it happens! It’s just that the chemistry alone and the flirting was hot enough for me! Emiliano our MMC is patient and lovestruck and doesn’t give up on what he wants. And our girl Taina is that girly girl who wears makeup to the gym but is so badass and extremely smart, I love her! I was crying on the plane reading that ending!! This was an incredible blend of danger, suspense, spice, and Latin culture, and a love that can heal wounds. And Emiliano being the “White Knight/Brown Vaquero” was the trope I didn’t know i needed!
if book one was a descent into madness, this second installment was the aftermath of destruction. the ways in which the thread of fate intertwined these two’s lives together was as hauntingly tragic as poetic justice. i love how the author showed a completely different rendition of vengeance and strength with taina from what rose portrayed in the first book (and how they're unreliable narrators). both capable women with different traumas, showcasing there’s no right way to process and heal from it. the misandrist in me bowed down to mirror image of myself in this fmc and once again, i am healed by this series.
* i was sent an arc by the author in exchange for a honest review
Okay, let’s talk about the pain of a HEA and a cliffhanger bc I’m so happy my babies Emiliano and Taina are happy, but Paloma? Ignacio?? Papo??? What’s happening with all of my sweet sweet side characters?!! I did very much enjoy this one and will be locked in for the next one🙂↕️
“An enemy that’s close enough to corner you is close enough to kill.”
ahhhhhh 5 million Stars 🌟!!
Lovefool is an epic, dark, adrenaline rush ..... The way Emiliano loves, protects, takes care of Taina is soooooo beautiful!!!🥹🥹🥹 This woman has gone through hell and back , yet he is willing to piece her brokenness back together piece by piece...... My love for this story, these two is unmeasurable ..... Cynthia A Rodriguez is THAT GIRL with a pen ...... making us obsessed and falling in love over and over again.🩶🩶🩶🩶
First of all, thanks Author Cynthia for the opportunity for the ARC.
Secondly, I am amazed of the storytelling and how the events panned out. Ofcourse I was expecting twists and turns and it delivered. I hadn't read the first book and I was a little confused on some characters coming out of the blue but I actually knew two of the mentioned was familiar: Morellis and Orlov was also mentioned, and I was like wait aminute, are these the same people from one my fave mafia romanceA Love Most Fatal and I had to stalk the authors to see that indeed, they are the same universe! what a way to have the next books on this series on my TBR already and for me to pickup the first book too.
Title: Lovefool (Folie à Deux Book 2) Author: Cynthia A. Rodriguez Genre: Dark Romance / Mafia Romance Pages: 386
Rating: 5⭐️/5
“Puta! You killed my son!”
Taina de la Matta, the Congressman’s daughter, used to be soft—naive enough to believe the world was kind. But after being raped & discarded like garbage, that innocence is long gone. Now a college dropout, she lives by one rule: blood spilled is blood owed. Her path to revenge takes an unexpected turn when she catches the eye of Emiliano Piñeros, a sharp, no-nonsense attorney & the golden boy of the city’s most dangerous cartel family. Raised in suits & shadowed by violence, Emiliano was built for control, never softness—but something about Taina breaks through. As their worlds collide, she must decide whether to finish what she started or risk it all for a love she never saw coming.
This story is not just a tale of revenge, it’s a full-blown reckoning. Taina is an absolute badass—the kind of “take no sht, fck all men (except mine)”. I loved how her strength looked nothing like Rose’s in book one—both women are powerhouses in their own right, showing that healing isn’t linear & survival comes in many forms. And Emiliano? Whew. A cartel lawyer with emotional depth, quiet loyalty & softness he only gives to her. (Also—Emiliano is my dad’s name, so that made this extra funny for me). The glimpses into his childhood (getting yanked by the ear—so specific, so human!) made him even more layered. Both grew up sheltered & craving silence & solitude. The multicultural romance brought so much richness—family, language, culture, legacy—woven in naturally & beautifully. The characters were vibrant, messy, unforgettable. Two books in & she’s two for two on 5⭐️ knockouts! It’s rare for an author to deliver the same depth, passion & creativity across every book in a series—but Cynthia nails it every damn time. If you love fast-burn revenge, found family, mafia heat, cultural depth & heroines who set the damn standard—run, don’t walk, to read this book!!
A big thanks to Cynthia A. Rodriguez for providing me with a digital ARC of this book!
Releasing 06/05/25 on Amazon, KU, and paperback. E-book pre-orders are available NOW. — #AdvancedReaderCopy
"To have someone steal the desire to exist in your own body is a cruelty that deserves more than death."
Vaquero + Cartel vibes with a man who would do absolutely anything for his princesa AND a badass, strong fmc on a revenge war path??? Yes yes yes.
This book is the embodiment of feminine rage - there were some passages in this book that were incredibly impactful and felt really powerful. They spoke straight to my heart and made me want to burn the world right alongside Taina. Her trauma is truly heartbreaking and she was entirely underserving of the bullshit she had to deal with. I loved the way she took her power back and fought for herself. She was such a fucking badass.
My man Emiliano was down badddd. I was so here for how dedicated he was to courting Taina (as he would put it lol) and showing her that she deserved the world. The lengths he went to and the acts of service were beyond amazing. This man was the definition of both "if he wanted to, he would" AND "touch her and die" - an elite combo if there ever was one.
I think my main complaint was one of the big twists at the end. It was a secret kept from the readers that was sort of flawed in theory. In the sense that Taina knew this piece of information pretty much the entire time of the book and since we were in her POV for a lot of the book, it didn't really make sense for her not to acknowledge it in any way or even think about it in certain specific terms.. Obviously trying to be vague here to avoid spoilers but it just wasn't realistic. Like, it's just not how minds work. Also at times the pacing was off and I was sometimes confused with what was going on.
That being said, I still really enjoyed this book and the author's writing. I need the next book like yesterday because the way it ended?? Need to know what happens!!
Thank you Cynthia for the opportunity to read this ARC! 😍🙏
This was my first book to read by Cynthia and let me just say, I'll be sticking around for more!
Taina, once a victim to a horrific SA and kidnapping, is now a woman on a mission of revenge and vengeance. The old Taina is dead and the new one will stop at nothing to make those who hurt her pay... that is until she meets Emiliano.
Emiliano is the golden boy lawyer, the "good" one, out of the Pineros boys. He has a heart of gold and is willing to do anything needed for those that he loves, especially family. When he sets his eyes on Taina, it's game over for him. She has no clue who he is or what happens to those who disrespect the Pineros family, so of course she is her fiesty, take not shit self when meeting Emiliano causing him to be hooked instantly.
He can tell by just looking into Taina's eyes that she has seen and experienced darkness. He doesn't know and he doesn't push to get information out of her. Instead he creates a safe space for her, which is foreign for her, but she slowly starts to let down her guard with him and realizes she is falling in love with him. And she wasn't the only one who fell for him 😮💨
Only problem with that? She needs to stay focused on her mission of revenge and this is causing her to lose focus.
Y'all, the twists and turns in this story had me gasping in shock and anger. Ohhhh how I felt the need to go on a murderous spree for Taina. 😡
This is the second book in the series. It can be read as a stand alone, but it is recommended to read the first book, LoveSick, first. Cannot wait for the next book!!!
This is my first Cynthia A. Rodriguez book and it definitely will not be my last - I was hooked immediately into Taina's revenge tour and then sucked in further when we meet Emiliano. The love story set behind a cartel battle, Tiana's need for vengeance, and family drama was absolute perfection.
Emiliano comes off as a cinnamon roll MMC - and he is especially for Taina - but he has his dark side too, as the baby brother & lawyer for the Texas branch of the family cartel. Taina is the daughter of a local politician & news anchor and she has experienced an incredibly traumatic event. (seriously, read the trigger warnings before diving into this book!) Emiliano meets her at a party and is immediately smitten, but Taina wants nothing to do with him initially. Seeing how dreamy Emiliano is head-over-heels for our black cat FMC was so 🔥🔥🔥. He becomes an integral part of her healing journey and their romance is something she really can't fight.
The twists and turns in this dark romance kept me on my toes and I read the entire book in one sitting because I just HAD to know what happened next. If you like dark romances then definitely pick this one up! Its even better that we have Latine rep with the characters and I loved all the cultural influences we get throughout the book.
Thank you so much to Cynthia for the chance to read and review this book early!
Wow, Cynthia gave us another dark romance and morally grey FMC in this series!! Taina from the outside looking in is. Puerto Rican princess who comes from a well to do family whose father is in politics and mother a news anchor. But beyond the smoke and mirrors, the trauma and abuse she's endured is outrageous, especially once the full truth is divulged! What makes this story unique is how she decided to cope with this trauma as she no longer wants to be the victim but the predator. As she is developing her plan of vengeance on one of her captors/abusers, the last thing she expected to find was a knight in black shining armor.... enter Emiliano. Emiliano is by day a successful attorney, and because this is set in Texas a Vaquero (cowboy), but by night, he's a part of a very powerful drug cartel family. There are high stakes, given that his family is in the middle of a war with the Russian mafia, which puts everyone at risk. I love the way that Emiliano pursues Taina and seems to understand she's gone through something traumatic and just so patient with her boundaries. Taina is forced to let that man in, but it with so many dangers from so many different directions, this fast-paced story is an incredible roller-coaster of emotions. Love that got a peek of Abel and Rose at the end; and can't wait for book 3!!!
Taina is trying to heal from her trauma and revenge seems to be the answer. Living in an emotionless environment, she is doing everything her parents want her to do but when she realizes that she is more than her shadow as she finds herself drawn to a handsome attorney who will change her world.
Emiliano is a no-nonsense attorney who has eternal love for his momma and familia. Living in a world where violence is just another day, he finds himself wishing for a chance of normalcy. Wishing for someone to love and build a life with when his paths cross with the fiery Tiana, he soon realizes that she is hiding a dark secret that will alter their future forever all while trying to keep her safe.
I enjoyed the representation of two cultures, great emphasis on the importance of family; it is done very well by Cynthia. As someone who speaks Spanish, I appreciate the language differences throughout the story. I didn't read book one, but I did not have trouble following this story.
If you like fast burn, revenge, found family, mafia and romance, then this book is for you! Please read the TW as it discusses past trauma that can be sensitive to readers. Happy Reading!
LoveFool is vengeance wrapped in crushed velvet, and Cynthia A. Rodriguez, the Boricua queen of bloodstained romance, delivers another banger. I devoured this ARC and screamed, cried, and clutched my chest the entire way through. When it starts with this statement, "Men need to feel uncomfortable around women far more often. Shit, Men need to FEAR women. Our Rage is Far too calculated," you know this is going to be a RIDE!!
Taina is the patron saint of rage-fueled rebirth, and Emiliano? Baby, that man is the golden retriever of the cartel. He’s the definition of “if he wanted to, he WOULD,” and this man does. We’re talking down bad energy in a custom tailored suit with a law degree and blood on his hands.
Tropes? We’ve got touch her and die, he falls first, cartel romance, revenge, and found family. The emotional payoff? Chef’s kiss.
Cynthia’s voice is unmatched: “Maybe it’d be nice to join a family where people would actually kill for you.” My heart ached and screamed for Taina. And best believe Emiliano would burn the world for her but hand Taina the match, because he knows she'd want the pleasure of doing it herself.
Thank you, Cynthia A. Rodriguez, for this unforgettable love story.
ALSO... Read. To. The. Very. Last. Page. It's nonnegotiable.
In the continuation of the Folie á deux series, Taina and Emiliano have their moment front and center.
By now there is no surprise that morally gray characters are my fav. If revenge is being served on a platter, you can sign me up. Taina just wants to eliminate the person who accosted her. Her parents pretend to care about her, but notoriety and political prowess are always at the forefront of their minds. It would be ideal for them if she could get over the past. Taina won’t let the disrespect go without retribution.
Emiliano falls hard and fast. And, he’s a gentleman. He knows how to be conscious of Taina’s traumas. She’s been abused, and she’s rough around the edges. None of this stops him from pursuing this incredibly dangerous woman. Granted, he has no idea how dangerous she truly is in the beginning
Now the twist, I thought I saw coming, but then I talked myself out of believing what I hoped couldn’t be true. I didn’t want it to be true. His and the fate of so many seemed appropriate for his transgressions.
I look toward to finding out what happened to Paloma. Also, who was Ignacio talking to on the phone? Yup, I’m nosy 🤣 lol.
Getting to the end of a book and feeling like you should start it all over again because of your new prospective should tell exactly how good this book is. Even though around the time they started beefing with the Russians I knew!!! Rodriguez does a wonderful job with the breadcrumbs and that one of my favorite writing styles. I don’t like to be confused and in the dark through a whole book. These were characters that are easy to love and connect to. And the little crossover cameos from other authors and stories was a delightful addition. But that last chapter-the was kind of like a cut scene. Oh man! The one thing I didn’t quite vibe with or understand was Tio’s decision? Idk it just didn’t feel like it should have been his call or an option even on the table. Especially when Emil made it seem like there is an actual risk. This was a captivating read, it was fast paced in the sense something was always going on and everything was relevant, no filler at all, but not in a things happen to fast way. And since I know a lot of readers determine pace based on the smex, that was more of a moderate pace. This is a great series and I’m looking forward to maybe a Nas book?!? Or Papo?!? In the meantime I really need to get into Rodriguez’s backlist!
The way I DEVOURED this book y'all. I literally read this in one sitting (okay, maybe two because I need snack breaks). 🔥
This book follows Taina and Emiliano and honestly, I love them both!! Taina is mean AF and so funny! Meanwhile Emiliano loves it and is so down bad 😂 please you guys, I need y'all to read this because, so far, the girls and I have the same fav parts here. She's focused on her own mission (hey revenge plot 🙂↕️) and doesn't have time for men (ew). And yet, well... Emiliano is a MAN, MAN - ya know.
Emiliano is an attorney, who is also in the cartel, and he is a total badass vaquero. YES, ALL OF THAT. Cynthia made it all come together so well and it all fits and makes so much sense. Emiliano just wants our girl, Taina and we don't blame him! However, he has to put in some work (yep, make them work for it).
This story has action, comedy, spice, romance, betrayals. ALL OF IT. Cynthia took us on an emotional roller-coaster here, but I loved every second of it.
Oh, and did I mention it's a multicultural couple?? 🇵🇷🇲🇽 This was an EASY 5 STARS for me. 😌
If you liked cartel/mafia/dark romance with comedy/good books, add this to your TBR! It comes out June 6th and will be available in KU!
Comes out on Thursday June 5th ⚠︎ CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS!! ⚠︎
This book follows Taina and Emiliano. I read this book in two days because I couldn’t put it down. It was so binge able, so entertaining but so much deeper than that. Pls, pls check tw just in case!
Your honor I LOVED THEM. I love it. Every single damn minute i spent on this were the best of my life 😂
Taina is a Puerto Rican badass who went through so much shit but still was so lovable and funny. I fucking loved her. Her humor and sarcasm were everything tbh. She was mean af and I loved that as well.
Emiliano is Mexican and baby THE MAN THAT YOU ARE. He knew she was mean af and that only made him like her more. He was so down bad for her and I love it. I loved how loyal he was to his family and that "cartel" aspect of the story was amazing. This man was so cautious, respectful, attentive, kind and caring. But if you looked her way or his family members the wrong way, you gotta pray to god because shit’s about to get down bad. He’s everything let’s be honest.
Their relationship was iconic. Their chemistry was off the charts. The spice was incredible. The trust they built in each other was heartwarming. The plot twist? HOLY FUCK, I didn’t see it coming. Even though this story is based on such a traumatic experience it was beautiful, seeing Taina get the ending she deserved was chef kiss, end of story.
But oh ho ho, those last chapters? Ma’am I love how your brain works, that was amazing!!!! 🤭
🖤 revenge plot 🖤 cartel vaqueros (cowboys) 🖤 "who hurt you?"/touch her and die vibes 🖤 multicultural couple 🇵🇷/🇲🇽 🖤 she’s mean af & he’s down bad 🖤 morally grey mc’s 🖤 plot twists & spice 🖤 dual pov
5/5 ⭐️ 4/5 🌶️
Thank you so much to the author for this arc!! 🖤

🤎Feminine Rage 🤎Revenge Tour 🤎Cartel 🤎Cowboys/Vaqueros 🤎Thicker Than Water 🤎Touch Her and ☠️ 🤎He Falls First/Harder
This was my first read from Cynthia Rodriguez and I can’t believe this isn’t everywhere. I loved this so much. The cartel aspect, the secrets, the revenge. It was perfect. The representation of how close of a family is and at the same time not being showing affection really hit home.
Emiliano carries and lives in a world where respect and loyalty are expected. Anything less will mean youre life. So meeting someone who treats him as an equal and with no fear of course peaks his interest. He will do everything in his power to protect her and care for her.
Taina holds on to her rage with a vice grip. Only when she starts to let Emiliano in does she feel that hold loosen and feel a semblance of herself again. As much as this excites her it also terrifies her. Who is she without her revenge? As much as she would hate to admit Emiliano chops away at her walls and helps her heal all while allowing her to go at her own pace.
This story is incredible. Not only do the main characters grab your attention so do the side characters. Because Ignacio 🥵.
