Part 1 in this shifter mini series.

Sarah crashed her car on her way to visit her mother. Now she is lost in the woods, cold, hungry and lost her glasses so just one bad thing after another. Soon she spots a wolf across the river.
So what does she do...well she follows it to its den of course after all it did give her a fish.
See a story I already am smiling about and shaking my head at at the same time. This was a good start to a shifter romance. So much more than meaninly sex and mating although of course they are werewolves so you do get sex and mating with emotinal bonding and feeling coming later. Lust always happens before love this isn't a disney fairytale ya know.

Got this as a free download from Barnes and Noble and can't wait to read more from this author. I have enjoyed other shifter stories from this author.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

The cover is cool with the wolf and definitely attracts my attention because I love my shifter books :)

Okay this is a serial series that are novella length, and only my 2nd attempt at trying a serial. This serial was a great story and seemed to end at a good place, and I saw it coming. It didn’t just abruptly stop where I wasn’t expecting it. I read it straight through except the 20 minute car ride to take my nephew to swim practice (I finished it at swim practice).

I like the world Viola has created, and this is my first time reading her work. I will definitely be reading more too :) like in 20 minutes when I finish this review. It is easy to visual everything that is going on, and I love both of her characters in this book. Sarah and Cain are both trying to avoid attachment, but Sarah is dependent on Cain because she is pretty much blind and far from civilization. She is strong and brave which I love :) Cain is arrogant and gruff, but has a sweet side. I really like him too :)

I highly recommend to the shifter lovers out there, but if you aren’t a fan of serials wait until July 9th when the whole thing will be out and concluded :) I’m off to read part 2 now :)

Great read! Great characters! Great alpha!
After being left to wander in the wilderness, Sarah puts her trust in a hot, strong man who happens to get furry. They experience several rials and tension. The heat rises with a strong intensity that leads to a romantic encounter and intimacy.

Sarah is a fantastic heroine. She's very real and personable. She's a larger girl, but comfortable in being who she is. She's aware of her flaws and accepts them instead of constantly belittling herself. Cain is a hot alpha with a load of responsibility but also is isolated and lonely.

Love this story and can't wait to see what happens next!

Very fast

Bound To The Alpha part one was interesting, but very fast paced. The entire story took place in what had to be three days. what I think was the plot was nonexistent to me
Sarah got into an accident, met Cain, tried to not to fall for each other only to be doing it a day or two later then ends.

LOVE! :O Why is it so short?? I need the second part! I love it when the werewolves are so primitive, more wolf then man, but stil rational enough to protect their women. Gets so sweet :3

A basic, "lost and mated by the werewolf" story, part I of III short novellas. A simple, diverting, and semi-heated read for one of those "escape into shifter sizzle" moods.

i liked, but he was kind of cold sometimes. but it was good anyway.

He could tell from the unguarded look on her face that she had never been with a male as large as him. and an unparalleled satisfaction washed over him.

I'm not sure how to rate this book. On one hand, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I mean, it was hilarious (unintentionally still counts!) The premise alone is pure comedy. I knew I had to read it and, thankfully, the internet provides.

So there's this hapless virgin -- pudgy, braces, coke-bottle glasses, romantic notions pressed lovingly into the diary of her heart -- who's just been stranded in the forest after a car accident. She's lost her glasses but she can still make out a great big hunk of... wolf?

No! It's a werewolf!

Enter Cain. He's the most knuckle-dragging, dog-like, werewolf man I've ever read, which is fantastically funny. He might as well speak in monosyllabic grunts because he's a simple man with simple desires: "No like human. Must protect pack. Woman smell good. Me so horny." He's also strangely gentlemanly -- except for that part where he gropes her in her sleep. To his credit, he doesn't totally take advantage of her (good job?) and manages to respect her boundaries when she demurs. At times he comes across as, oddly enough, a noble savage, with other things to do besides think about his dick (although he does do that a lot.)

The best thing is the way he talks about himself.

"I am an alpha. I am stronger than most wolves."

The way he man-splains everything.

"You point your right arm to where the sun rises, and your left will face the west." [...] "Do this, and your back will always be to the south"- he lowered one hand, flattening it beneath her chest- "and your front will face the north. Understand?"

(No, dude. Explain to me how south is opposite north again? Nothing short of a Power Point presentation will convince me!)

Her needless prissyness in the face of his ridiculous bullying.

"That's a bun...a rabbit," she said, squelching a gag. [...]

"The stream is over there. Gut and skin it while I prepare the fire."

Still gaping at him, she said, "I'm not doing that."[...]

She put her hands on her hips, trying her best to look firm. Cain's expression remained flat as he looked up at her. He didn't need to stand to look intimidating, but he did anyway. At his full height, Cain towered over Sarah, the top of her head hardly clearing his shoulders.

In a tone that warranted no debate, Cain said, "I kill, you clean."

It's a derp romance made in derp heaven but not as offensively sexist, heavy-handedly alpha, or downright rapey as it could've been. So... good? I'm not sure where it's supposed to go from here, though. How do you have a relationship beyond sex with a troglodyte? How do you talk about the complicated issues that arise between any two people, much less cross-species, when monosyllabic grunting won't do? How do you compromise with an idiot? Ahem, two idiots?

Who knows! Who cares! This book was good enough for me. I have a strong suspicion the sequels will offend me beyond all retribution, so I may avoid them.

Heroine: not exactly TSTL but thoroughly helpless which i'm not a fan of since i much prefer warrior women for heroines. Also the heroines body issues made her less appealing to me-realistic though they might have been I don't have a lot of patience for the girls who whine i'm fat i'm fat (though there's no evidence given that she actually is larger) but don't make an effort to lose the weight. Either love your body or work to fix it whining about it doesn't really get you anywhere. Maybe if her past had been developed i would've had more sympathy since she alludes to bad ex's but doesn't expound on it.
Hero: main issue with this short. while he wasn't bad or hurtful he was pretty cold. he seemed very detached and apart from the human world that made him unappealing to me. even one iota of human emotion would have made it so much better for me and probably would've changed whether I read the next one.
Romance: ehhh...not much. she seems to fall for him though to me it feels more like gratitude than actual romantic feelings. apparently in this world were's don't have one fated mate which makes it much less...romantic to me. He's a cool cucumber and basically just wants her for sex seemingly...i'm sure feelings develop out of this in the sequels but there's nothing romantic about him here.
Sex scenes: ok but nothing earth shattering. i was confused though in one scene he's telling her she isn't fertile so he can't get her pregnant then the next scene he pulls out and makes a big huge mess (which they apparently sleep in?)and i didn't quite get the why of that.
Plot: not a whole lot going on beyond the meet cute. if there had been more interesting happenings toward the end i might have felt compelled to read the next and just hope the hero got better but to have neither cliffhanger type ending that makes me feel like i have to read the next OR a couple that i love...well sort of makes it difficult to justify spending time on the sequel.
Writing: not bad...i didn't see any errors but the world felt underdeveloped. humans apparently know of and hunt were's but why? and why are they so animalistic and totally apart from human civilization (i mean the hero had never heard of florida!)? what characteristics do were's have that set them apart from humans? ...you get the idea there just really isn't any depth to the world which is always a disappointment in a PNR.
Bottom line: a quick read that wasn't bad but it had nothing in it that made me feel like i need to read the next.

Series: Bound to the Alpha #1
Category /Genre: Paranormal romance, short-story
Received from: Amazon purchase
Recommended for: 18+ due to sexual content
Grammar/editing: B – a few small errors

This is the first part of the Claimed by the Alphas serial story. They do need to be read in order.

After wrecking her car and losing her glasses, Sarah is stranded in the Appalachian Mountains and in danger. Cain begrudgingly assists her and keeps on helping the helpless human as his own instinctual feelings for her push to the surface.

I have a deep empathy for Sarah. She tries to do everything the “right” way. She tries to make everyone else happy to the point of finding herself miserable. She doesn’t see herself as beautiful or desirable, because she doesn’t understand that not all men desire the same thing. Cain finds her to be perfectly shaped for his cravings. Though in the beginning he resented her human weaknesses, he knows he cannot deny the draw she holds for him. Everything she needs, he provides – food, warmth, shelter, protection, adventure, and honesty.

I loved this story from the start. It is at times and in-turn sweet, heart-pounding, and lust-filled. My one-click finger is itching to get to part two of this serial story.

This is probably the first supernatural book I have read where the author had supernaturals living completely separate from present-day society. Cain, the male main character of this supernatural romance, knew very little about any life outside the territory that he and his pack held. He went into town to grab medicines and grabbed everything because he did not know what any of it was. So, that got a plus for me simply because it was a different take on the were- type life.

Another thing that I really loved about this is that Sarah, the opposite female character was not the perfect blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl with the perfect body that is usually the opposite partner in a romance. She also wasn't big-breasted, which I really loved. The stereotypical female opposite in romance novels usually kills a romance story for me because not everyone is perfect.

The only reason why this didn't get a full five stars is because it's a novella or a serial novel, and it ended with more questions for me. But that could just be me as a writer myself because I tend to ask questions that most readers probably wouldn't.

All in all, a good read. It was very well-rounded and thought out, and I'm going to track down the second one so I can finish up the story.

Utterly tedious.

Meek, chubby nerdy girl gets lost in forest and comes across a big bad wolf.

He decides to help her find her way and in the interim ends up having sexual relations with her.

She's meek and biddable and puts up with it. If she's not drooling over him than she's acting weak and pathetic.

He's tall dark and handsome and not much else.

It just didn't hold my interest.

This was a really good book that I enjoyed reading a lot. This was the first book in a series by Viola Rivard I have read this author before and her books are always well written and this one was as well. Sarah Harper was driving across country to surprise her mother for her birthday when she crashes her car and loses her eyeglasses. Cain is an alpha wolf who is already overburdened by obligations. Recognizing her dire predicament, he reluctantly takes on yet another responsibility escorting the small, nearsighted human female back to her own kind. Cain doesn't know a thing about human females and Sarah doesn't know anything about alpha males. Sarah has been hurt in the past and they both know that it's not smart to get with each other involved. The sex scenes were pretty good. I wish that this book was longer. I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series.

Good story. Was only 61 pgs, but felt longer. Very detailed and could relate to the characters.
Sarah was in an accident and was wondering around the forest trying to figure out what to do. She is looking for glasses and trying to find food, when a wolf came to the stream. She watched him and soon he threw her a fish. She had nothing she could do with it so she followed the wolf. But when he went into a cave she stood there wondering what to do. A few minutes later, a man comes out and tells her to go in the cave. He helps her travel to a road than realizes that she is weak and he feels bound to her. Few days later her takes her home to his den. They bond well over the two days travel. But soon she will find out that she is his mate.

Two stars because I finished it, and because it was free. It is only 63 pages, so it was extremely short. I don't read many books focused solely on romance (in this case, just sex, no romance), which might be why I wasn't enthralled. Sex is all this book has to offer, and it's not even really good sex, to be honest. There is no character development or character backstory. I can absolutely get into the paranormal world that includes shape shifters, but I can't get past a world that has a woman walking through water and snow for days in ballet flats and never once mentions the possibility of frostbite.

Sarah is stranded in the wilderness but luckily is found by a werewolf named Cain. He takes it upon himself to make sure she gets back to civilization. But they of course become insanely attracted to each other and try to fight it for different reasons. He sort of fights it because he has more important things to do than find a mate, she fights it because she knows there's no end to this where she doesn't get hurt.

I enjoyed the characters in this one but I didn't get enough story. I know there's only so much information you can fit into these short stories, I just felt this one was lacking.

Fantastic book a must read.

Bound is a must read by any Wolf Alpha fan. It has a great story line even as a fast read. I ordered this free book then bought book 2 for only 99 which is a great deal. It had passion, suspense, and danger at every turn. I have read Rivard's book set Claimed by the alphas but this book 1 tops them. Again it is a short read but if it doesn't make you feel like your heart is racing and your blood running hot then you need to go back to those plain romance novels.

This book was very good but it was still too short because it was only the first part of the story. That is a real minus for me because I really enjoy finishing all the good stories and for me to do this I have to buy more and more. You should just get the whole bundle and nothing else so you can finish the story without delays.
I really enjoyed this and bought the rest of the books and read them too and I wasn't disappointed or anything but it would have been better if the whole story was between the same covers

One thing is crystal clear, Rivard gives good Alpha! The type that makes you forget you're a feminist! This installment was just the set up, but I found the storytelling engaging, the plot (few points though they were) engaging. I took to both characters immediately. Cain is a carbon copy of Caim, but I don't mind. I purchased the second installment after finishing. The epilogue threw me because this is an installment and not the end??

I love the storyline and where i think it's headed. I can't wait until Sarah and Cain make it back to his pack.
Will they accept her ?
Is sarah gonna stay or leave ?

Nice start to the series. Cain and Sarah's story is so short and quick that it mearly offers a highlight to what this series will hold. I have been definitely missing my supernatural reads, and this was a nice stroll back into the genre. The author's style is a slow progression of detail, but I think I am finally grasping the atmosphere of the story line. This was a good foundation short story that allows for a wide spectrum of possibilities in the series.

I have to admit that I kinda liked this one.... it definitely peaked my interest. I'll have to read more to make a final decision.
The writing was kind of formal, but not enough to turn me off. At times I found myself wondering why at Cain seemed worldly and at other times oblivious to the world outside his pack and territory. Other than that, I liked the characters and the story gave me just enough to want more.

This book was free on Amazon. It is the first part of a book that has been divided into a serial and honestly, if the rest of the series was free, I would probably read it, but as they are $2.99 each, I won't. There wasn't anything horribly wrong with the book, but there wasn't anything so amazingly engrossing that I am holding my breath waiting to see what happens. As the two stars indicate - it was ok.

A clumsy twenty something year old, Sarah is involved in a car crash. To her amazement, she stumbles upon a werewolf who takes her under his care and protection. A predictable romance with little in the way of suspense or hook other than in two instances. It's a fairly enjoyable short story though extremely typical of the genre. Fun for a quick read but not one that I can imagine wanting to revisit again anytime soon.

If you enjoyed 'Claimed' then you'll love 'Bound'.

I really liked the Claimed by the Alphas series but wasn't entirely confident I'd enjoy this prequel but I really, really did and it was in no part due to the improvement in authors storytelling skills.

I would definitely recommend and look forward to the next instalment in Cain and Sarah's story.
