I expected to finish this book feeling the way one usually does after discussing sexual violence: in despair, angry, grief stricken, physically ill; emotions that act as a tax when practicing human empathy.
But instead I put the book down with a sense of purpose, dignity, and strength. Ferraro reminds you that every act of violence can be met with gestures of grace. Healing is possible, but it requires patience, fortitude, and at times, a sense of humor.

This is a fitting read for parents of young children who want to better protect and advocate for their children, as well as those who wish to support survivors of domestic violence. If you’ve experienced violence yourself, reading Judy’s story comes as a release.

I highly recommend Judy Ferraro's book for any survivor of criminal sexual abuse or any family member or friend who is supporting a survivor. I am not a survivor but, as a law enforcement professional for 30 years, I have assisted young people, both girls and boys, who have needed crisis intervention after disclosing. This book is an inspiration that shows that a person can have a happy, balanced and successful life. I hope this book finds its way into the hands of those who need it.

The book is great for survivors of sexual abuse and a reminder to parents how important it is for their children to be able to speak up incase they come across a sexual predator. I think the book will give anyone hope for the future no matter what tramatic event occurred in their lives.

Judy does a great job of telling her story in the vein of helping others to understand the trauma of child sexual abuse and why children do not tell. This is a quick read and does not get overly graphic in describing the scenes of the abuse. Judy's story hits home for me. I also think she does the topic of abuse justice in addressing the issue of penetration v.s. molestation. The effects are the same and we should not compare or judge how a child has been effected based on whether or not penetration has occurred. Thanks to Judy for sharing her story and letting other survivors know they are not alone.

Judy Ferraro's book is an open and insightful look into the life of a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. Judy describes her abuse but, more importantly, discusses her life of resiliency and healing as an adult. As a survivor of CSA and an educator of Erin's Law, I hope to one day to share my story, just as Judy has done in her book. I hope to reach out and show survivor's that they are not alone. Survivor's can live a happy and healthy life, and share their story too. I recommend this book to survivors and the family and friends in their life who support them.
