Annabella Stone and Bella Stone are the alter egos of a wife and mom, who was lucky enough to find happy ever after with her own personal hero.
Annabella loves to write Military Romance and Romantic Suspense where warriors love harder when bullets fly. She believes in love at first sight and wants everyone to have the happy ever they deserve. Even if they have to dodge bullets and fight with everything that they are to get it.
Born and raised in Ireland, Annabella has a Grá for a good story and the breakfast blaa, but funnily enough, prefers Jack Daniels to Irish whiskey. Having lived across 7 countries and 3 continents over the last thirty years, she loves to explore new places and cultures. In her world, coffee is king, and she is 100% sure it deserves it's own food group.
Annabella is owned by a pack of malamutes, whom she loves to both work and show. If you can't find her at the computer writing, chances are she and her woofers have escaped to enjoy at day at a dog show, or they are on a mountain trail with the dryland rig or the sled, depending on the time of year.
Annabella's motto is "Live life like a malamute who found the gate open, but take the time to enjoy the sights while you're running."
It’s everything you expect from Anabella’s books! It’s a great start to a new series and familiar faces from previous books making appearances just bring it all together for me!
There is humour, action and plenty of spice! As with all her other books I devoured this in less than 24hrs and don’t regret a thing! I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series will bring.
I came into this book absolutely not having read any of the many connected series and books in this complicated black ops universe but I still found myself throughly invested in the gripping story and the complex characters.
Don't Come For My Operator: MM Military Suspense (Tags Of Honor: Black Squadron Book 1) by Annabella Stone is part of a black op universe of multiple stories, series and characters that cross over into each others lives and missions as they often work together and for the umbrella agency.
While not having a deep understanding about how the foundation of the universe works or all the various aspects of the characters dynamics, Stone lays down the basic concepts and gives the reader a clear explanation of how they interact and work in the field so it’s believable and meaningful.
Whether as a lone operative or as part of a team, these men come across as exactly what Stone is trying to accomplish.
Throwing the reader right into a tense undercover black ops mission seen first hand from both perspectives of Black Ops Reconnaissance Operative, Black Squadron, Elijah *Rogue* Dunmore, in Afghanistan because of a caravan on its way to a fragile peace mission. Inside one of the trucks is CIA Ground Branch Operative Travis *South* Zimmer, escorting tribal leaders to a peace meeting he helped broker.
The tension starts building immediately, then everything goes explosive. The scenes are realistic without being raw , gritty and suspenseful. From then on out these men are on the move, danger is literally everywhere, and nothing is safe.
There’s a mystery, escape, battles, and a red hot romance between Travis and Elijah that develops as they travel through Afghanistan , back to the US, and as the plot gets more complicated, beyond the US boundaries.
Stone brings in characters and teams from all parts of the agency which helps solidify the relationship and world that’s being created around Travis and Elijah.
If I had a quibble, it would have been to have drawn out the dramatic scenes at the end so it felt as though the villain(s) were fully aware of the situation as well as taken down.
I definitely can’t wait for the next book in this series to be released.
I’m definitely recommending this and will be running back to catch up on it other series.

It felt incredibly weird how worried Travis and Elijah were about their attraction to one another as if they hadn't just come off a very tense and active situation where Travis had literally just barely survived a missile attack. It was so jarring how they acted basically like high schoolers with the dumb "why am I so affected by him?" thoughts (that are incredibly lazy ways of telling us the MCs are physically attracted to one another btw). Where was the calm planning of their next moves? Introspective thoughts on what went wrong, who was responsible, or worry about the ramifications of a literal sabotage attempt at peace talks? You're telling me two supposedly veteran and capable military operatives were thinking about their lust for one another while they were in the middle of a possible war triggering event in a very unstable region (that they were physically located in)?
Also, I didn't realize this was a spinoff series. With so many names shotgunned at us, I wish it had been laid out in the blurb rather than me having to find out that Noble, Max, Zenko were apparently people that we were supposed to have context for.
I had to DNF after Travis started feeling emotionally connected to Elijah after they had sex the first time. Why did he need to emphasize that holding each other meant nothing when it really shouldn't have even pinged on his radar. They hadn't even started to really get to know each other, so the sex should not have been at all sentimental unless Travis had issues falling in love with complete strangers (which was very clearly not the case considering we were told he always did one night stands). I needed to see Travis and Elijah actually connect first emotionally before the "panic over arising feelings" card and this story doesn't do that.
TL;DR: The guys come across as immature high schoolers as opposed to grizzled military agents. The tone was very out of tune with the plot (choosing to focus on feelings and attraction over the currently more impending danger of the situation) and I could smell the instalove a mile away with how Travis was already starting to catch feelings after just one and half sex scenes. 1.5 stars that I'm very very close to rounding down.
Elijah and Travis start us off right for Black Squadron
After the dust settles from Red Squadron’s last battle, it is time for Black Squadron to find their HEAs! And Elijah and Travis start us off right, with ups and downs, emotion and shutting it down, fire and ice, and glitter. Lots of glitter! IYKYK! But, I am trying not to give away too many spoilers when all I want to do is SCREAM from the rooftops how awesome this story is! And discuss at length what happens!
Travis is CIA Ground ops, and Elijah is Black Squadron. Elijah and his squad mates are overwatch for Travis as he escorts a group to some peace talks. As is usual with Annabella’s boys, it all goes to hell in a handbasket! As they traverse the dangers of getting to safety in the Middle East when everyone is trying to kill you, Elijah and Travis discover what is means to finally open and trust someone with their heart and soul. When Travis is burned, Elijah opens up about his past, and the color squadrons come together to save their operators!
This story took me from the highs to the lows and back again. You will laugh, you will cry (Blue Squadron ripped my heart right out), you will learn what a broken white line means, and what a double yellow line means. As always with Annabella Stone, you get a story for the ages, rich in fabulous characters and intense storylines that leave you wanting more. I am eagerly awaiting the next in this series. I want all the Black Squadron crew to get their HEAs. And hold on to your operators, ‘cause I feel like this is gonna be a rollercoaster of a ride!
I finished reading Elijah’s and Travis’s story and I don’t really know if I will be able to explain all the feelings I’m feeling. I absolutely loved this book! The plot will keep you turning the pages at the speed of light. You will have read the book and wished you had more to read. I devoured it in almost one sitting and went to work this morning with raccoon eyes. I’m not going into details because I don’t want to spoil it for you. The only thing you have to know is that their story has it all!
“Just keep moving. Easy day”
High emotions, banter between teammates, people you can count on, found family, lots of snark, lust and love mixing together, out of this world steamy moments, new characters and old friends mixing perfectly together. Mentions of the GPS lady, a glitter war, liters and liters of black coffee, #neverforgotten, lots of action and beautiful soul baring moments.
“Too many scars for beautiful.” “Scars show you won… that’s pretty f*king beautiful to me.”
I was so much looking forward to this new series and it didn’t disappoint…. What an explosive start this book is! Thank you Bella… your stories always make me feel like I’m… home… And now, I’m going to need a double yellow and a mint chocolate chips ice cream to recover… “Same side of the line”
This first book in Annabella Stone's new series is populated with new faces and old friends. It's everything you've come to expect from Ms Stone and ever so much more. The sizzle factor is so hot at times you'll think someone turn up the heater to inferno levels. You'll also need a tissue or ten in places. I'll admit I ugly cried. There's also some fast paced and dangerous edge of your seat moments, suspense and intrigue surrounding a compomised operator and of course some teammate hjinks that may or may not have involved glitter.
Elijah and Travis, AKA Rogue and South, are perfect together. Thinking your rescuer is hot just after you had your bell rung by a missle exploding nearby may not be the best timing. Despite that, South is capivated by Rogue and the attraction may be mutual. Thus begins something special between two men who thought relationships were not for them. Letting down your guard and trusting is not easy for either of them and yet it's easy because of their connection. In order to keep Travis safe, Elijah delves into his past and issues an ultimatum--don't come for my operator.
I love Annabella Stone's books since I got my hands on Jonah's Compass. There is always a book where I think this is my new favourite and Black Squardon's first couple is one of those.
Annabelle writes military guys beautifully. She embraces their personalities, their ways of thinking and working. She doesn't shy away from writing about their faults and habits.
But she also shows that these tough guys with all their dark secrets and hidden nightmares have another side, she shows how they can fall in love, trust someone and be vunerable in private, things which could costs them their lives on a mission.
Elijah and Travis are not just a cute and very hot couple who fall fast and hard. These two also bring out the best in each other, the way they open up and embrace their love is just beautiful and amazing to read. These two are an amazing example of her writing.
If you read her books before you can expect a familiar setting, you will find a family of mischivious guys who loves to prank and let of steam (any one with children will wince in knowing what will happen when glitter arrives at the scene) but also will have each other's back without asking or hesitating.
It has been a while since I read one of Anabella's military books and so I was excited to start reading this new series. I can say that I really enjoyed Elijah and Travis's story and it sealed me in from the very beginning. It helps to have read previous series to know more on the characters that appear in the second half of the book but it is not necessary in order to read this one. I liked these two men who are used to working alone but have the commonality being they are both Navy men that helps bond them. When a peace mission goes wrong and Travis is almost killed, Elijah and his team are able to save him. The chemistry is immediate and this is a story that goes on over time and they are both still active in their service so they do have time apart. There are lots of feels and a few tense moments but lots of action and everything that you would expect in a military story. I look forward to the next in the series.
Honestly? Pretty boring, and for most of the book I didn’t understand why the rating was so high or if I was the problem. The answer is no — it’s simply a continuation of a series, so everyone reading this book already loves the original series and the author’s writing. As for the book itself — all the secret organizations gave me a headache, and there’s basically no plot beyond the romance, which wasn’t good at all. The action is mediocre to nonexistent, there are no explanations for anything or for their ranks, and it feels like the author doesn’t actually know this world and didn’t do any research. Why would the U.S. Army work with a headquarters based in Italy? A country that — no offense — isn’t exactly known for having an impressive military or strong international ties. And the whole “who’s more alpha” issue was extremely tiring. I quit at 60%.
We’ve met and heard about Claudio a few times in Bella’s world and we are finally getting to meet his Black Squadron team in this new series. First up Elijah “Rogue” Dunmore, who's great in the field but also behind a computer, has almost a love at first sight connection with CIA Ground Branch Operative Travis “ South” Zimmer. Now insta love is my least favorite trope, but if Bella writes it, heck yes i'm reading it. Sorry Travis but Elijah was my favorite in this one 🤭 I loved seeing some familiar faces in this one! It has all the classic Bella elements- banter, snark, shenanigans, loveable characters and lines that stick with you. This was a great start to the series and the sneak peek of book 2 looks like its starting off with a bang and i can't wait!
I was thrilled that there was a new Annabella Stone story and I loved it. Elijah and Travis were both badasses and I loved how they grew close and then fell in love. The attack that Travis survived was scary and then knowing that his boss wanted him dead was even worse. Claudio is hilarious and the best boss and it was wonderful to have so many people from the other squadrons included and the last attack on their convoy was nerve-wracking and the ending was so satisfying. I am so looking forward to the next book.
Grab this for a fast pace military ops suspense with a surprise romance!
As you can imagine life or death can make for a quick romance - but it supports when you find the one that feels like home & you can't imagine life without them - you fight to the death! Travis a special military ops mission when his team is down. Elijah is there to protect the mission, he rescues Travis and the fast forward protection is on. This is a MM Romance that keeps you turning pages. Sexy & spicey
Steamy off the charts hot, these characters absolutely sizzle when close. Thrilling action packed and suspenseful plot that gives excitement right to the end. I loved, loved, loved the two men and their story, each as protective as the other and as giving and loving as well. Support characters were great, well on the good side ones were. I am going to try and be patient waiting for the next book, that hint was Wow!
Why this might be a new series, it definitely follows all of the others that have come before from Annabella Stone and include everything a reader can hope for: Awesome action, characters that you instantly fall in love with and just the right combination of angst and emotion to keep the pages turning. Travis and Elijah's story is filled with heart stopping moments and intense connections. Bravo Annabella Stone, BRAVO!!
By any author other than Annabella Stone, this would have been a five-star book. Compared to the other books she's written, this one didn't have the drive. It was very blocky. Definitely don't use this book to decide whether or not you want to read other books by this author.
As with most of Annabellas stories we have great chemistry between the two main characters. Instant attraction. The back story is good as is the cameos from favorites from the previous series of books. If you like military romance and an overall story ARC. These books are for you .
Travis and Elijah’s story is another in the long line of amazing stories that Ms. Stone writes. The emotions in this book were so good. The HEA absolutely did not disappoint. ❤️
This is a new author for me and I definitely will be reading more of her books. Her story kept me on the edge of my seat following Elijah and Travis' escapades. Full of action and adventure. Great characters, looking forward to the second book of the new series. Recommend reading.
What an amazing story. Love all the guys. Trav and Elijah are fire together. Got to visit some old friends. Plus, you can never go wrong with glitter bombs. Another fabulous book. Looking forward to the next one
Always love meeting a new color squadron especially if they Red Squadron makes an appearance with glitter wars. Loved meeting Travis and EJ! They were fun to get to know and follow along with.
Elijah and Travis’ story was so worth the wait!!! I went through every emotion…even cried a little!! Excellent start to a new series!! Already preordered the next one!!
