Five Fantastic Stars

If you are a rock romance lover you will want to get your hands on this book. It is a little dark and gritty but the light shines through for Mick and Taryn. The two spent some quality time together four years ago and they both knew that they let that special one get away. Now Mick’s band the Crimson Edge was on tour with one of the band’s enemies. The things you have to do sometimes to make it to the top. The good thing to come of it is that Taryn’s boyfriend happens to be with the enemy.

Taryn has already had a tough go of it with giving birth at sixteen to a little boy who is now dealing with cancer. As her mother has custody at this point Taryn is back and forth as much as she can be with living with Callum. Taryn is also a model and was an up and comer until Callum’s control got in the way. The most important thing to her is to get money to pay for her little boy’s treatments. That’s when Callum knows he needs to make a deal with Taryn to get her to stay with him. Now the thing is can she actually survive living with this man who has degraded her, beaten her and mentally abused her.

Mick is everything that Callum is not. He is the one who helps Taryn through this and the bond that they build once again is amazing. I am so glad that these two were able to get their HEA. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next to come in this series.

I’m so excited to go back to the “Crimson Edge” world and for Mick’s story to be next. “Edge of Heaven” is an emotional, swoony and healing rockstar romance that was a great addition to the series.

Mick Lipson is the bass player for the Crimson Edge and they are starting to finally make it in the music world. They are currently on tour with Karnal Death, a band whose sound is different from theirs and they also happen to not really get along with. But the light that is there for Mick is Taryn Blakely. Taryn is currently dating the lead singer, Callum, who is anything but kind to her. However, he is helping her with a tough financial situation so she puts up with his emotional abuse. Taryn and Mick have a history and both still care for each other and as they spend time together, the feelings are still there.

I had been curious about Taryn from the previous book and I’m glad she got her story next. Taryn is a great woman who got caught in a hard situation. She was willing to do what she needed to help her family and I admired her for that. Taryn goes through so much as a teenager and then as an adult as tried to make it in the modeling world while juggling her personal issues. Mick is a swoon worthy from the beginning and grows more dreamy as the story goes on. He truly wants to be Taryn’s friend in the beginning and as he gets to know her situation, he wants to help her break free from Callum. Mick was also passionate about the band and making sure they were successful. Taryn and Mick had a sweet friendship and I loved how it was a slow build up back to more. Taryn was adamant about never cheating even if Callum was the biggest jerk in the world. The story has lots of emotions and things that could be triggering so please check the warnings. But with that said, I absolutely loved this story and the ending for them was perfect. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series when it’s released.

This is the second book in this impressive series, and this is Mick and Taryn’s story.
Mick and Taryn spent an unforgettable 3 days together, until life sent them on different directions. Now 4-years later, Mick is bass player in Crimson Edge, and they are going to be the opening act for a band only to find out that Taryn is dating the lead singer, Calvin, who is not treating her very well. Taryn is a single mom who is not with Calvin by choice, and suffers at his hands, but she cannot see a way to survive on her own.
This is a well written emotional roller coaster, with friendships, loyalty, surviving, camaraderie, surviving, making choices, abuse, humor, witty banter, love triangle, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, and unpredictable, addictive page turner.
Be aware of the trigger warning due to sensitive content!
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Edge of Heaven by Kat Mizer is book two in her Crimson Edge series. This is a second chance rockstar romance between Michael ‘Mick’ Lipson and Taryn Blakely. A complicated story as secrets affect every aspect of their relationship and she has some hard decisions to make. Mick could have the opportunity to be with the woman of his dreams but she has found herself in a horrible situation that she needs to survive before they can have their HEA. There are some hard issues addressed so please read the TW’s.

“It’s the edge of heaven when we kiss, closest thing to bliss.”

In the last book we knew something was up with Taryn but she wouldn’t tell her best friend Ryleigh what was going on. We now find out that she had tried to leave Callum when she couldn’t face anymore of his moods and demanding behaviour. Their relationship had turned toxic with his verbal and emotional abuse. However, devastating news from home left her desperately struggling to save her son. Callum offered to help but only if she stayed with him. She sadly agreed because she is willing to do whatever she has to for her son. Hopefully she can survive the year and then return to Toby in LA and be the mother she’s always wanted to be.

Mick is the bass player for Crimson Edge who are reluctantly on tour with Karnal Death. The only good thing for him is that Taryn is there, even though she is dating Callum the rival band’s frontman. They met at a photo shoot four years ago and the chemistry between was amazing. They had three wonderful days together and she told him things about herself no one else knows. He felt he had nothing to offer her and thought she was out of his league as beautiful and brainy. They couldn’t see a future as their careers were taking them in different directions but both hoped the other would call. Neither did and both regretted that decision. Mick has kept her secrets and knows she’s the one that got away.

Now he finds himself wanting the one woman he can’t have. The band warn him to be careful but he is worried about her and is positive she’s in trouble as can see she looks scared and anxious.
Being in close proximity their feelings for each other have ignited again. He agrees to be her friend as she can’t commit to anything more. They secretly meet up and she finally tells him about her life with Callum and the reasons she stays. Things are also difficult with her mother who has custody of Toby but Mick gives her support and comfort like she’s never known before. Callum uses his help against her and controls every aspect of her life. She’s trapped in a nightmare as his demands on her get worse and we find out what he has actually put her through.

Mick and Taryn have some lovely stolen moments together, he is so caring and kind. He doesn’t judge her and just wants to help but the situation with the band doesn’t allow him the opportunity to do so. He’s determined he won’t lose her again and is prepared to do whatever she needs as she battles the serious and humiliating situation she’s enduring. She feels she has made bad decisions all her life and wants a clean slate with Mick. If only they could have a fresh start together without her baggage and problems. Will they find a way to be together when her lifestyle with Callum is revealed and he shows everyone the type of man he really is.

I loved how all of Crimson Edge are behind the couple and Ryleigh is amazing as she shows Taryn what true friendship is. It was also great how the other models rally round her because they guessed what was happening. I found the story a little repetitive as the reasons for her choices are constantly mentioned but Mick made up for it as he is so romantic his actions to prove how much he loves her. I was pleased with the outcome of Callum’s outburst which allowed this couple to find the happiness and peace they both needed.

Edge of Heaven is book 2 in the Crimson Edge series and follows bassist Mick and model Taryn.

Taryn is keeping secrets. Many, many secrets. She believes her private life is just that. Private. But secrets have a habit of coming out and the most inopportune time.

Mick is the kind hearted bassist for Crimson Edge. He does his thing and moves on to the next show. Until he sees Taryn. He is drawn to her. He, too, is keeping secrets, but they are not his secrets to tell.

Taryn is currently the girlfriend of Karnal Death lead singer, Callum. She is caught in a quandary since she needs Callum's help. Sadly, Callum is known for being overbearing and sometimes abusive towards women. He has a reputation, but Taryn is desperate.

While on tour as the opening act for Karnal Death, Crimson Edge has to walk on eggshells around Callum. They need this tour to pay off the start up costs to the label and to finally put some money in their pockets.

Mick does not like what he sees when Callum and Taryn are together. He knows something is wrong between them, but she will not talk about it. When Taryn goes to New York for a photo shoot, she never expects to find Mick on the plane next to her. Since it is a quick trip, they only have one night together and they make the most of it. After a nice dinner, they stay up for hours talking. But when she gets back to the tour, she will pay a price for this trip.

When Taryn gets a call to walk in a runway show for a very popular designer she jumps at the opportunity. But when the show is over, she is shocked to see Callum there. He shows up to schmooze the designer and other models to help further his career. But these ladies have Taryn's back and circumvent his plans for a night of partying. GIRL POWER!!!!!

Not only do these women have Taryn's back, but so do the members of Crimson Edge. Taryn and Ryleigh, Angus's girlfriend, went to college together years ago. Mick works through Ryleigh to find out how Taryn is doing. He knows he cannot check on her himself sinice Callum checks her phone, so he enlists Ryleigh's help. So when a party escalates, it is the members of Crimson Edge getting Taryn out of melee. She cannot afford a front page scandal linked to her name.

But issues between Callum and Taryn escalate until it is almost too late. Lucky for her, the members of Crimson Edge take care of her. But when Mick finds out, he is beyond livid and wants justice. But at what cost?

Taryn is lacking in self esteem and self worth. She has been put down by her mother because of her relationship with Callum. She has tried to explain why she stays with him, but sadly her mother does not hear her. It is not until Mick shows up on her doorstep that the full impact of what her daughter has sacrificed becomes truly clear to her.

Mick is in love with Taryn and has been since the first time they met years ago. He would do anything for her. Watching her with Callum and they way he treats her is killing him on the inside. But he promised her he would not say anything or cause problems with Callum on the tour. Will he be able to keep his promise?

Some of the subject matter in this book is extremely triggering. There are multiple incidents of physical abuse, assault, verbal abuse and emotional abuse.

EDGE OF HEAVEN is the third instalment in Kat Mizera’s contemporary, adult CRIMSON EDGE erotic, rock romance series- a spin off set in the author’s Rock Hard and Rock Harder worlds. This is Crimson Edge bass player Michael ‘ Mick’ Lipson, and model Taryn Blakely’s story line. EDGE OF HEAVEN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. There is a slight cross over with the author’s LA Phantoms Hockey series.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mick and Taryn) EDGE OF HEAVEN focuses on the building relationship between Crimson Edge bass player Michael ‘ Mick’ Lipson, and model Taryn Blakely. A few years earlier, Mick and Taryn spent three glorious days together but life and everything else got in the way. Mick promised but didn’t call, and Taryn is struggling with the decision in her life. Fast forward to present day, Taryn is currently involved wit Callum Yates, lead guitarist for Karnal Death, a man who is controlling and abusive but Taryn has a secret, and is unable to walk away without someone else getting hurt. Mick is determined to save the woman with whom he is falling in love but he isn’t sure said woman wants to be saved.

The world building focuses on Taryn’s relationship with her abusive and controlling boyfriend, a man who is virtually holding our heroine hostage. Taryn needs something that only Callum can provide, and in this, she believes she owes Callum more than she is hoping to give. Mick wants nothing more than to claim Taryn as his own but the closer they get, the more problems for Taryn at home, and if Callum goes down, he’s taking Taryn and Mick with him.

The relationship between Mick and Taryn is one of second chances but Taryn is in a relationship, and Mick struggles with Taryn’s current situation. The longer Taryn remains with Callum, the worse it gets, and Mick is determined to protect our heroine form the ongoing blackmail that is threatening her life. Our couple is not together for most of the story as they Taryn must work through her problems before setting herself free. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and determined including the return of the members of Crimson Edge: drummer Angus Jeffries, and twenty-four year old, journalist Ryleigh Bell, lead singer Jonny Gold, band manager Sasha Petrov (Anatoli -Las Vegas Sidewinders 4)and lead guitarist Sam Fielding; Taryn’s mother Tracy Blakely, and Karnal Death lead guitarist Callum Yates; designer Alexa Humboldt, and supermodel Stevie Marchand.

EDGE OF HEAVEN is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power, abuse and control, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dramatic, gritty and edgy; the romance is limited but seductive; the characters are desperate and charismatic.

Emotionally raw

Kat Mizera has delivered an emotional rollercoaster with EDGE OF HEAVEN. Crimson Edge #2. This love triangle, single mum, rockstar, second chance romance was unputdownable, and deals with some issues that could be triggers for some readers.

Michael "Mick Lips" Lipson, the bassist for Crimson Edge, is living his dream, but also realising fame and fortune don't come easily. Crimson Edge are the opening act for Karnal Death, and to say the tour isn't going how Mick thought it would be is an understatement. The only shining light is the woman who is slowly stealing his heart. Taryn Blakely is trying to get ahead in life after making some disastrous decisions, but the relationship she has with Callum Yates, lead singer of Karnal Death, may be the worst decision she has ever made. She has her reasons for staying with Callum, but his constant abuse and acts of jealousy are starting to wear her down.

Mick and Taryn's relationship and romance is a slow burn one. They have a past, a secret friendship which deepens as time goes on, and as Taryn begins to open up about her situation. Mick is rock solid in his support for Taryn, he's sweet, caring, and shows her the respect she doesn't get from Callum. The song he wrote for her broke my heart, it was honest and full of emotions. The road they take to finally gaining what they both desire is an arduous one, filled with secrets, heartache, and stolen moments, but their chemistry and passion for each other made the wait worth it.

EDGE OF HEAVEN was emotional, gritty, raw, confronting, and shattered and repaired my heart at the same time. Kat Mizera's words are delivered with both compassion and empathy, especially during some highly volatile moments. I cannot wait for the next book, Over The Edge .

Edge of Heaven is the second book in the Crimson Edge series. It is so good and so emotional. I loved every moment of it.

Taryn is a single mom who is going through a difficult time in life. Her boyfriend Callum is a rockstar and is very abusive. Taryn so she decides she's had enough of his behavior and wants out of the relationship. She is in the process of leaving him when she gets a call. Her young son has leukemia and his treatments are going to be more than she thought. Callum makes a deal with her to come back to him in exchange for paying for the treatments. Taryn has no choice since she has to take care of her son. She agrees to the deal and hopes that Callum will not be as abusive as he has been. Much to her disappointment he continues to treat her terribly.

Mick is a rockstar in the band that opens up for Callum's band. He had met Taryn before and hates seeing the way Callum treats her. He is one of the only people who know about her son. He wants to take care of her and be there for her. When he sees Callum cheating on her he is so angry. Mick wants to get back with Taryn and be there for her and help her in any way he can. He agrees to be her friend when he wants her as his own. Taryn finally confides in Mick her reasons for staying with Callum. Taryn's mother has custody of her son since she is away at work modeling.

I love how Mick is so good with Taryn. Unlike Callum he treats her with respect and doesn't put her down. Taryn was a strong female lead character. I love how she did what she could for her family. Her choices weren't easy but she took care of her son the best way she could. I loved this story and look forward to more from this talented author.

You will love this book if you enjoy rock star romances as well as second chance romances.

Thank you to the author for an advanced copy for an honest review.

A Heartfelt and Tense Ride Through Love, Loyalty, and Rock & Roll

Kat Mizera brings heart, heat, and raw emotion to center stage in Edge of Heaven, the gripping second book in the Crimson Edge series. This emotionally charged rockstar romance follows Crimson Edge bassist Michael Lipson—better known as “Mick Lips”—and Taryn Blakely, a strong yet deeply wounded model navigating personal trauma, heartbreak, and a mother’s fiercest love.

This story is not your typical rock n’ roll fling. Mizera raises the emotional stakes by delving into Taryn’s harrowing relationship with Callum Yates, the volatile frontman of rival band Karnal Death. The abuse she suffers at his hands is written with sensitivity and honesty, making her eventual journey toward healing—and love—even more powerful. Mick, who has been silent in his feelings for Taryn for years, finally decides he can’t stand by while she suffers, even if stepping in threatens everything his band has worked for.

At the emotional core of the story is Taryn’s eight-year-old son, and the devastating choices Taryn is forced to make to save her son. Her desperation, love for her son, and vulnerability are felt on every page, making her one of the most compelling characters Mizera has written. Mick is there for her at every turn, as a friend, as a protector as so much more.
The chemistry between Mick and Taryn simmers slowly before igniting, built on years of quiet admiration and mutual respect. Their connection is authentic, growing out of trust and shared pain not just impulsive passion.

Edge of Heaven is a powerful blend of heartbreak and hope, wrapped in a gritty, glamorous world. It’s not an easy read—but it’s a rewarding one. A must read for Kat’s fans and those who love a good rock n’ roll story filled with so many twists - it hits all the right notes.

Mick and Taryn spent several nights together 4 years ago and went their separate ways when their careers were taking them in different directions. Present day, Mick is the bass player for Crimson Edge who is currently on tour with Karnal Death and views Taryn as the one who got away. Taryn is a model who is dating the lead singer of Karnal Death, Callum. Taryn finds herself in a financial bind when her son's cancer treatment funding falls through. Callum says he will pay for Taryn's son's treatments if she won't leave him. Callum becomes more controlling, and Taryn puts up with the emotional and physical abuse. Mick and Taryn start to spend time together while Callum is on stage during Karnal Death's set. They grow closer and realize their attraction and chemistry hasn't faded. What does Callum do to Taryn when he confronts her in a jealous rage over Mick? How does Mick react when he learns Taryn is in the hospital? How does Taryn react when she learns Callum has been arrested? What does Mick do when Taryn pushes him away? Can Mick get Taryn's mom to see she has been misjudging her daughter? Will Taryn finally admit Mick is the love of her life and embrace their future together? I really enjoyed Edge of Heaven by Kat Mizera. Mick and Taryn are a great couple with hot chemistry. Mick and Taryn both could be stubborn at times and unwilling to see from each other's perspective. Mick is a sweetheart and always had Taryn's back. I love how the guys in Crimson Edge and Ryleigh had Mick and Taryn's backs no matter what. I would recommend getting Edge of Heaven and the other book in the Crimson Edge series by Kat Mizera. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

💔 Book Review | Edge of Heaven by Kat Mizera 💔
Crimson Edge #2 | Rock Star Romance | Second Chance | Angsty, Raw, and Utterly Addictive

There’s no denying that Kat Mizera doesn’t shy away from delivering hot, hard-hitting romances—and Edge of Heaven is proof that she thrives in the raw and messy spaces of love and heartbreak. Book two in the Crimson Edge series is every bit as powerful and emotionally gripping as the first.

Mick is living the rock and roll dream—playing bass for Crimson Edge as the band inches closer to a platinum record. But fame isn’t always as shiny as it seems. Supporting a headline act they can’t stand just to keep moving forward is a bitter pill to swallow… until it gets even more complicated.

Enter Taryn—the one who got away. The woman Mick shared passionate nights with… and never got over. But now she’s dating the frontman of the rival band they’re touring with, and the past crashes into the present with all the force of a crashing cymbal. Taryn carries a secret that’s tearing her apart, and the tension between her and Mick simmers with unresolved pain and unspoken truths.

Kat Mizera delivers an emotionally-charged rollercoaster of passion, betrayal, and redemption. Edge of Heaven pulls no punches. It’s messy. It’s complicated. It’s heartbreakingly honest. And it’s impossible to put down.

🎸 Come on tour with Crimson Edge—but be prepared to have your emotional world shattered and rebuilt one page at a time.

For fans of: Michelle Mankin, Taryn Quinn, and Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series.

Sometimes a book comes along that will have you go through an emotional wringer and this was a story for me. At times I just wanted to crawl into the book and give my say to a few people as it was taking a toll and I just felt so horrible to feel what the lead character, Taryn, was going through. I just wanted to hug her and tell her to not lose hope. It was so much more than just a rockstar romance as there were a few topics that the author touched that were heartwrenching and left me helpless at times; trying to get a grip. It was a rollercoaster of emotions but I was hoping for that true happy ending while feeling a sense of hope that no matter what you go through in life, you still have that.

When Taryn finally decides to go home, she receives a call that will change the course of her life but she never would have thought that the choice she's made would make her feel even more helpless. As she tries to do whatever she can to hold on and make it through another day, Michael (Mick) is one of the people that knows about her situation and is closeby on the tour but it's not easy living the life she has to although she knows why she's making that sacrifice. Mick has had a crush on Taryn ever since he laid eyes on her. But now watching from afar, he feels that something isn't right. While he feels helpless staying on the sidelines, with bits and pieces he tries to make sure she doesn't feel alone. When the situation even gets worse, Taryn has no choice than to finally step away from it all but will it be enough. And will Taryn & Mick have another chance?...

This is the 2nd book in the Crimson Edge series and focuses on Michael aka Mick aka Mick Lips Lipson and Taryn Blakely. I can tell you right now that this book will not be for everyone to read because of the subjects that it touches on in multiple ways. You need to have a real open mind when starting it because it will take you down paths you have not been and might not want to. When there is talk about making a deal with the devil for whatever reason, in this story someone had to.

Taryn Blakely hasn’t had the easiest life, pregnant as a teenager, lost the father of the baby, gave custody of the child to her parents, loses her own father and now her son has cancer. She had wanted to make it big in the modeling world but that had fallen by the wayside when she hooked up with Callum Yates, a member of the rock group Karnal Death. Just when she was about to break up and walk away from the torture, she needed his help. Help that came with a price. But to save her son, Taryn was willing to do anything and everything. Then she runs into Mick who is part of Crimson Edge the opening act for Karnal Death, she realizes that the feelings she had for him way back when didn’t go away and vice versa. He could be the answer she is truly looking for, but the problem is she can’t tell him what is going on and they both will just have to wait a few more months.

Thanks for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

What an emotional rollercoaster this plot took us on. We have to be honest, we had mixed feelings about this book due to the subject matter. It's one of those stories that feels so real that you have to remind yourself the characters are fictional.

For anyone who has been in Taryn's situation, even small parts of it will help them understand Taryn's mindset. Despite the trigger warnings given by the author, Taryn Mick, and Callum's story will tug at your heartstrings. We felt like crying most of the book on Taryn's behalf.

Mick was a sweetheart of a character, loyal, caring, protective, and a great friend. He wore his heart on his sleeve most of the time.

Taryn had a full plate, forced to make very difficult choices. Whether we agreed with her decisions or not, they were hers to make. Carrying the secrets she did must have been hard and lonely.

From an outsider's perspective, it seemed like she had great friendships and a support system to help her, but we understand she felt trapped between a rock and a hard place.

Overall, we loved the characters; they were interesting, lovable, and supportive. However, Callum was not one of them; we despised him.

Taryn and Mick made a beautiful couple. We loved their connection chemistry and passion for each other. It was heartwarming to see how they wore their hearts on their sleeves for each other.

This was a heartfelt and messy read that goes straight to the reader's heart.

Edge Of Heaven is bass guitarist for Crimson Edge, Michael aka Mick aka Mick Lips Lipson and Taryn Blakely’s emotional roller coaster. It’s book two in the Crimson Edge Series and from the moment I joined this ride I was hooked and there was no putting down until the final word was read. I do feel I need to point out that this book touches on issues that will be triggers for some but it’s well written and written with compassion.
Taryn hasn’t had an easy life, a teenage pregnancy that leaves her son with her parents then to lose her father and now her son has cancer. Her dream was to make it in the modeling world but along the way she gets mixed up with a rock star who is part of Karnal Death. Callum Yates is not the man she wants to be with but he is holding paying for her son’s treatment over her head……
Mick and Taryn have a history and he wants to do whatever is needed to pull her away from Callum but as Crimson Edge are the support act for the tour Karnal Death are on his hands are tied until Callum goes one step to far.
This is a well written, edge of your seat love story, the characters are easy to love and hate and there are twists and turns I didn’t see coming. I loved this book even though some of the confronting issues really hit home so please heed the trigger warnings.

“𝔒𝔲𝔯 𝔢𝔶𝔢𝔰 𝔩𝔬𝔠𝔨, 𝔞𝔫𝔡 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔦𝔫𝔱𝔢𝔫𝔰𝔦𝔱𝔶 𝔱𝔥𝔞𝔱 𝔰𝔦𝔷𝔷𝔩𝔢𝔰 𝔟𝔢𝔱𝔴𝔢𝔢𝔫 𝔲𝔰 𝔦𝔰 𝔞𝔩𝔪𝔬𝔰𝔱 𝔭𝔞𝔩𝔭𝔞𝔟𝔩𝔢. 𝔈𝔵𝔠𝔢𝔭𝔱 𝔰𝔥𝔢 𝔟𝔢𝔩𝔬𝔫𝔤𝔰 𝔱𝔬 𝔰𝔬𝔪𝔢𝔬𝔫𝔢 𝔢𝔩𝔰𝔢.”

Kat Mizera is no stranger to delving deep into the darkest parts of relationships. And this book, Edge of Heaven, is no different. Yes…this is definitely a rockstar romance…but it’s so much more than that. I will say, there are some very heavy topics discussed in the book that can be triggering for some people. So please, check your trigger warnings and remember…your mental health always comes first.💙

This book revolves around Mick and Taryn, who we met in the previous book. They both share three very hot and intense nights with each other after a photo shoot. There were a lot of feelings…but when they parted, both were pretty apprehensive when it came to reaching out…thinking the other would make the first move…but…neither did.

Here we are…4 years later and Mick is on tour with his band…which should be exciting…except he’s on tour with a rival band…and the front man is the bane of his existence. But…there’s one silver lining…Taryn. She’s saying Callum. The lead singer of the rival band, and is accompanying them on tour…and while she isn’t single, Mick cant help but love having her around after lining after her for the last 4 years.

What follows is heartbreaking. We learn that Taryn is holding onto a world of secrets. A son who is terminally ill and in the custody of her mother…she’s willing to do ANYTHING to save her son. And that includes staying in a toxic relationship with Callum while he’s on tour. This man is cruel and abusive and it’s heartbreaking to see the pain Taryn has to endure with him.

Mick noticed something is off with Taryn and when he’s able to get her alone, he is able to get her to spill. And he’s filled with even more rage towards Callum.

They never cross the line while Taryn is with Callum, but the tension and longing is there. Mick and his band stop at nothing to protect Taryn and make sure Callum gets everything he has coming to him and more.

This is a story that will break your heart, piece it back together and restore your faith in friends who become family. I absolutely love this series and can’t wait for the next book! 💙

Mick is a rock star with a heart of gold, who let the one get away. Taryn is a single mom who will do anything for her son. This book is full of emotion and had me rooting for these two to find a way to be together. When he sees her again, he wants to be with her, but she is with someone else and he can’t figure out why. She tried breaking up with her boyfriend, but then she felt like she had no choice but to stay with him.

Every moment Mick and Taryn share is stolen and they know it is only a matter of time before they get caught or she can be away from her boyfriend. Taryn is strong and independent, but she also needs someone to support her (even if she doesn’t want to admit it). There are time I didn’t care for her mom and wished I could shake some sense into her. All of Mick’s friends try to be supportive, but it isn’t his story to tell, so he gives them the minimum amount of truth he can.

Just when things look to be almost over, and they can be together, something happens to Taryn that could cause them to be over before they began. If Mick can find a way to get through to her they might stand a chance. I loved this book and can’t wait for the next in the series. There are a couple of triggers, so be warned. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

This is the second book in the Crimson Edge series.

Mick Lipson is the bass player for the band Crimson Edge and they are slowly making a name for themselves.

Taryn Blakely is a model who is trying to make it in this world. She met Mick four years ago but he was trying to get his band off the ground and she, her modeling career so they parted ways even though they really liked each other.

Taryn has been dating Callum from the band Karnal Death and has decided she's had enough of him and tells him she's done. As she's leaving she gets a phone call that changes everything in her life and now she's back with Callum.

Crimson Edge has agreed to go on tour and be the opening act for Karnal Death, their "musical arch enemies".
Mick sees Taryn who's on the tour with the band and wishes things were different. He never forgot her, has been secretly in love with her and hates the way Callum treats her.

There's secrets that Taryn is carrying and is just biding her time, but will she succeed? And what about Mick?

This one is a tough read so be sure and check the trigger warnings. I felt bad for Taryn who was in a no win situation and did the best she could.

An emotionally addictive, angsty delight! Kat Mizera is bringing all the feels with the next book in her Crimson Edge rockstar series and I loved every minute of it! The characters grabbed my attention immediately and I knew even from the first book in the series that there was going to be some drama when it came to their story. Her background in particular is well developed throughout the book and while we don't get a huge amount of info on him, it doesn't feel lacking in the set up of the story. I can't wait for more to come in the series!

Taryn was a very complex character. She's with Callum originally but there's a past between her and Mick that we can obviously tell meant something. Once we start to uncover why she's really still there putting up with Callum's mistreatment, we can understand her mindset more and feel for her and her plight tremendously.

I highly recommend this book as well as the first in the series to anyone who enjoys a rocker romance with characters who party the lifestyle, but are sentimental when it comes to wooing "the one" when she walks into his life. Can't wait to see more to come!

Edge of Heaven, book two in the Crimson Edge series follows bass player Michael Lipson, aka “Mick Lips” and model Taryn Blakely. Mick and Taryn, this one was a hard one to read for me for some reason, especially with all the trauma Taryn goes through under the hands of Karnal Death lead singer, Callum Yates.

When Taryn’s eight year old son needs life saving, experimental cancer treatment, she jumps at the chance only to have the funding pulled at the last second. Unable to afford the ten thousand dollars a month price tag, Taryn makes a deal with the devil. Determined to do anything to save her son, she turns to Callum, who promises to pay for her son’s treatments as long as she stays with him for the full term of the experiment - one year. Now, this is where things take a turn.. a few times I had to put down my kindle, since what she went through was so heartbreaking, I needed to take a break.. but even with everything that she went through, she found a way to move past the trauma and be with Mick.

Mick the bass player for the Crimson Edge. Taryn is a model and current girlfriend of Callum, lead singer of the band Crimson Death is on tour with. Mick and Taryn have a past and their feelings for each other have never gone away. Tired of enduring Callum's abuse, both emotional and physical, Taryn makes plans to leave . But when she gets devastating news, Callum uses the fact that she needs financial support to force her to stay. At this point she and Mick begin to reconnect but Taryn has secrets that she doesn't want to become public knowledge.

Before I get to Mick and Taryn, let me just say that I hated Callum with a passion. What he put Taryn through was absolutely evil. Now, on to Mick and Taryn. I loved the way that Mick was there for Taryn even when she was pushing him away. It was wonderful to watch their relationship grow from the friendship they agreed to. Mick and Taryn are wonderful characters separately but were the best when they finally got what they both wanted. This was such an emotional ride but I am glad that I got to experience the ride.

Rock star romance is one of my very favorites, and I’ve loved getting to know the guys of Crimson Edge so far. Now it's time for Mick to get his chance at happily ever after.

He and Taryn had an incredible weekend years ago, but life took them in different directions. Now, she's dating the lead singer of the band Crimson Edge is opening for on tour, and it's nothing short of torture. For both of them.

Taryn has her reasons for dating Callum, but something’s got to give. Mick watches quietly from the sidelines, trying to be a friend to Taryn and support her. Their story starts out great, but I couldn’t get behind Taryn making so many poor decisions. She stayed with Callum until she had no choice but to leave, so her character growth was minimal.

Otherwise, I loved everything about this. Callum is a villain we love to hate, Mick is a big, sweet teddy bear, and the camaraderie and banter between the bandmates is so much fun. Head the warnings, because parts of this are difficult to read, but if you’re a fan of rock star romance, you’ll love all things Crimson Edge.

Taryn finds herself unable to leave a tumultuous relationship with a man who treats her badly. Everyone in her life believes she deserves better but they don’t know the reasons behind it and that includes Mick. The few days they spent together were some of the happiest of their lives but now that they find themselves on the same tour she believes the best thing she can do for everyone involved is keep her distance.

Mick and his band have worked hard for the success they have achieved but this tour is important for their future. His relationship with the band they are touring with and in particular Taryn’s boyfriend is strained and seeing what she is going through doesn’t help especially when all he wants is to protect her and claim her as his own.

Despite the desperate situation she finds herself in Taryn is strong and resilient while the depth of Mick’s love for her is apparent both in the way he treats her and how he isn’t about to lose the woman he loves a second time despite the complications they must overcome.

wow

Wow, just wow! Mick and Taryn’s story has blown me away! After meeting and being together 4 years ago, they find each other again. The attraction is still there. The drawback she is with another man. he’s abusive to her, and she decides to leave him. She’s stopped dead in her tracks When she finds out her child needs treatment for his cancer, or he will die. Calum says he’ll pay For the treatment if she’ll stay with him. Since it’s an extreme amount of money that she could never afford, she agrees to go back to him. He now has control. He degrades her, verbally, emotionally, and sometimes physically. But she would do anything for the love of her child. Things escalate. Mick tries to step in, but she feels that she needs to do it on her own. Taryn’s friends finally step in And rally around. It’s sad to say that I’m sure the scenario is not too far off from every day life for many. Being used and forced to do things you just don’t want to do. It was so emotional and my heart just broke. I couldn’t put it down. Can’t wait to see what happens next in the series

Edge of Heaven, book two in the Crimson Edge series takes us through a journey of so many ups and downs especially for Taryn Blakely. Her son has cancer whose treatment is expensive and now she is beholden for the next six months to the one man she was trying to leave because of his abusive behavior. However, it is Mick Lipson from the opening band, Crimson Edge that draws her in. They had something a few years earlier even though it was only for a short time but it impacted them both. She is just in a bad position with a jealous boyfriend and can’t move on to what her heart really wants and she is miserable, all for the love of her son.
Mick knows something is not right with Taryn and her boyfriend but he just has to bide his time and help when her can in order to bring her to the bright side to find the peace, love and future she deserves.
Their journey was fraught with many obstacles but I loved that in the end they found love and happiness together.

This is not an easy read. Kat does give her characters quite a few life challenges to deal with, but I must say Taryn was dealt a really rough hand.

Reading what she had to deal with, the sacrifices she had to make for her son was not easy, but I must say I am in awe of her strength.

Through it all I felt like I just wanted to somehow reach out and fix things for her. So I can only imagine how difficult it must have been for Mick to stay back and her wishes and allow her to deal with things her way.

I love the respect and admiration he had for Taryn.

She strapped in an abusive relationship, she doesn’t want this relationship, but her son’s health and life depends on it. She feels responsible for the situation she’s in and is determined to manage things on her own and then start a new life with Mick with a clean slate .

Mick has been in love with Taryn ever since they had a short time together four years back. Now he’s a witnessing the situation she’s in, he’s dying to help, but his hands are tied, not only by circumstances but also by Taryn’s wishes .

All he can do is be her friend and her support system.

A beautiful story of strength, resilience, hope and the power of steady love.

I have received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

I am generally not one to point out triggers, but this book will not be for everyone. It is gritty, raw, hits on subjects that will not be for all readers. Some will tell you, that’s rock & roll.

This is book two in the Crimson Edge series. It is messy, there are secrets, and decisions are made that many might not agree with. If you decide to take the chance, the story is addictive, engaging, and hard to put down.

Taryn is doing the best she can, she had to grow up fast, and sometimes teens do not make the best decisions. She has dreams, but outside forces are competing for her attention. When a situation does not go as planned, she pivots and makes a hard one eighty from what she knows she should do. But she is trying, learning who she can trust, and who has her back. Mick from Crimson Edge is her friend, but they have a history, and he is one of her past decisions.

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Taryn frustrated me so much in this one. I didn't fault her one bit for the choice she made at the start, the one to stay with Callum when he said he would pay for treatment for Toby. In that situation, most people would make that same choice. What drove me nuts was that later, when things started to get bad, she didn't reach out to people for help, especially when help was there for the taking. I get her wanting to do it on her own, but she could tell that things were getting dangerous for herself.

I was glad that she told Mick and had that one spot to let it all out and feel safe. I was just as glad when things came to a head that Mick spilled everything to who needed to hear it so that Callum would be punished.

Mick going to talk to Taryn's mom was a good move. He really laid out everything. Sure she knew, Taryn told her or tried, but it seemed like the mom wanted to keep her head in the sand. I think how the family resolved things was perfect for them all!

Mick and Taryn

Oh my God, what an outstanding book!! The love between Mick and Taryn was almost sacred. I absolutely loved it, but I have loved each story told about these interesting, dynamic, wonderful, bandmates. Some of the abuse scenes written? Mirror so much of my own life I was reading some of what was happening to Taryn and thinking that that’s me. The book was so well written the characters are intricate and interesting and I just loved everything about the story. Especially how hard Taryn as a mom fought to take care of her son and what she went through to do that. That could happen to anybody and she did whatever she had to to make sure he was OK. I can’t wait for the next story anybody reading this book would not be disappointed. Everyone of these stories are outstanding.

Mick and Taryn's story had twist and turns that I wasn't expecting. Mick was not the rock star that I was expecting. His character I thought gave us a lot into what the real world is really like for musicians when they are just starting out. Taryn is some ways totally gave me the feel of what a model would be like self absorbed the party lifestyle. Then we see a side to her I was truly never expecting. She became so real and showed that someone will do anything to survive and be there for their families. The two of them together at moments was gut retching and other times so frustrating. In the end I loved seeing them realize that they were the best part of themselves when they were with one another. It also gave me great pleasure to see the villains get what they deserve also.
