If you are like me and have been stuck between curious and fearful of the dark web, then this is the short story collection for you. The collection contains 10 short stories that center around the mystery and fear that surrounds the dark web, the place where many will go to look for what they can't find or experience on the normal web we browse daily. Each tale has its own level of mystery and horror that will leave you questioning if you will want to continue to spend your nights mindlessly doom scrolling.
I was given an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Great anthology with the theme involving the dark web. 10 stories in this book. A couple of the stories weren't my cup of tea, but lots of great stories.
I always look forward to these Anthologies that The Sinister Society puts out! I always have a great time reading them and I’m never disappointed. The dark web is always really interesting and the stories tend to be rather wild and unhinged and this antho had me glued!! I read this in one sitting and enjoyed every single story. Individual reviews below⬇️
Broccoli-Head by L.W. Young Damn that ending! 😳🤯 I really liked this story. I’m excited to see what the rest are like. This story is basically about a prank going wrong.
Swipe Right For Death by Carietta Dorsch Rachel is being watched from her computer. She must play this game and obey the rules or bad things will happen. Loved the concept of this one.
Highest Bidder by Andy H I enjoyed this one! The descriptions were really gory at times. This story is centered around the black market.
The Ritual by Rian Burnhouse Okay it’s still a bit early to tell but this might be my favorite of the collection. This story had me in a chokehold! The way it ended absolutely threw me.
Rage of the Bobcat by Bill Freas Holy hell! This one was INTENSE. I was in the edge of my seat til the very end. A young woman is desperate to save her chronically ill mother and jumps at a rare opportunity to make some money but things go horribly wrong.
Deadly Bytes by Ian Gielen Okay this one was fun. We follow a detective after he’s finishing up a gruesome case and he’s being stalked by someone or is it something?
Shadows of the Dark Web by Brad Thomas In this story we follow a computer programmer who has a fascination with the dark web. He ventures a little too far into it one particular night and nothing is the same…
Machine by David E. Anderson Okayyy I loved this take on virtual reality! This was scary as hell.
Through the Screen Darkly by Bert Lestrange Poor David😭 This one was fucked. In this story the government has total control of everyone and their day to day lives even coming down to what they eat. David is sick of being controlled and finds himself on the dark web but he’s becoming more paranoid by the day.
Quantum Marketplace by Marie Lestrange This one was really interesting. I thought it was a cool concept. If you could alter your life for the better would you do it? Even if that comes with negative consequences?
