Lyness is a second son. He also gets nervous when speaking and sometimes stutters. Emily’s family has recently inherited a position in society and they are having a little bit of a tough time adjusting. Lyness has an interest in Emily and is thinking about making it known. But suddenly his brother who has shown no interest in marrying decides it’s time to marry and picks Emily to show attention to. Lyness can’t go for his brother’s girl right? Emily has more interest in Lyness than his brother Roman but tries to connect with Roman regardless.
I really loved this story! Lyness and Emily had a great connection! I loved how they interacted together. And loved them taking care of the Canary they found. I liked how Lyness respected his brother but still went for Emily in the end and of courser her for him. Overall, I thought this a great story and I definitely recommend!

••I give 5 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

~He is always second best. She has no idea how to play her part. And now they have to learn to grow together...

“The people who matter most will see you for who and what you truly are.”

-Mr. Eastwood’s Match, is a sweet historical novel filled with romance. It is a tender tale of friendship, self-discovery, and the courage to speak from the heart.
What begins with social discomfort and whispered gossip becomes a story of deepening friendship, emotional honesty, and personal growth, especially as both characters face societal expectations and misunderstandings about themselves and each other.
Weaved within are dear themes of self-worth, love beyond social rank, trust, friendship, courage, vulnerability, and love. I loved watching dear unpolished yet endearing characters redefine what bravery means within the world around them and watching how friendship sets the foundation to this story, how it blossoms into something more. Seeing characters rise above limitations for something more was endearing. Mr. Eastwood’s match, is worth the dear read! I am excited for more to come ahead within this lovely series as well. 📚🙌🏻🩷

“I choose you too. Not because I must. Not because it is the sensible thing. Because I have not stopped thinking of you.”

•Content: some social misunderstandings, social judgement/gossip, speech impediment, so@e social anxiety, some feelings of not measuring up/being overshadowed, no language, no violence, kisses only.

“I do not ask that you love me today. I only ask that you allow me the chance to prove, with the rest of my life, that I chose you freely.”

This is a sweet, endearing story that made me root for the MCs the whole time. I loved the strangers-to-friends-to-more and the journey to their HEA! I related with Emily’s inner turmoil to do right by her family and think of others before herself. I also related with Lyness and his reservations for speaking up. It takes amazing writing to be able to see yourself in both main characters, but Sally nailed it!

I so enjoyed the tender affection Lyness had from the moment he first met Emily. One of my favorite moments is when Lyness takes control of the “gossip mill” at the garden party. I pumped my fist in the air and was grinning so hard!

“His thoughts tangled, then untangled, then settled into a single, curving line.”

Emily’s sweet persona and how she took on her family’s newly inherited title was done with grace and I loved seeing her gain her bearings in society as the story went on.

This story is perfect for someone wanting to escape to Regency York, with heartfelt themes, and how friendship can grow to more!

I am so excited for Sally’s new series! I cannot wait for book 2!

Thank you to the author for my advanced review copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love Sallys sweet romances. Every time I look forward to a soft, kind gentle romance. I just found this one sad. A lot of negative repetitive thoughts. The story was good. The romance sweet.
This is a squeaky clean proper romance. No violence, no drinking, a sweet kiss.

The Clairvoir Castle series is my favorite of Sally Britton’s, so hearing she had a new series with the same kind of tender, heartfelt romances, I was excited to dive into the first book. I was not disappointed—Lyness and Emily had my heart from the first pages!

Lyness Eastwood is not your typical Regency hero, and that’s exactly why I loved him. He has a stutter, he's the second son, so he has no title, and he's spent his life being content to stand in the background. He fully believes he will always come second—especially to his older brother, Lord Hartwell.

Lady Emily is still learning all the dos and don'ts in Society, but also feels pressure to make a “good” match for the sake of her family. Lord Hartwell makes sense on paper, but every time she talks with Lyness, she feels a connection she can’t ignore. Their conversations feel genuine and easy, and she’s drawn to him—even when she’s trying very hard to do the sensible thing. When a public scandal upends everything, both Lyness and Emily are forced to decide whether security is worth more than happiness, and whether love—imperfect and risky as it is—is worth fighting for.

I loved Emily and Lyness so much and felt they were what the other needed. I liked that Lyness wasn't perfect and enjoyed things that men in Society didn't usually pursue, such as poetry and calligraphy. He may have had trouble speaking, but the man could pour his heart out in a poem that left no doubt of his feelings.

I loved seeing characters from the Clairvoir Castle books make an appearance and I'm excited for future books in this new series. If you're looking for a delicious slow-burn romance with an imperfect hero, look no further.

I received an advanced copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own.

All the love for Mr. Eastwood’s Match! I adored this heartwarming, tender story. Sally Britton’s books are always a must read & this book’s definitely a new favorite. I loved the gentle romance between an anxious to please, newly minted Earl’s daughter & the second son who always feels second best. I was completely enthralled by their strangers to friends to more romance & can’t wait for more stories in York!

Lyness Eastwood met Lady Emily briefly at a ball, but can’t stop thinking about her. His poetic heart longs to see her again. So when she arrives in York, he can’t wait to become reacquainted. Unfortunately, his older brother Lord Hartwell has his eye on her too. As a second son with no title & a stutter to boot, how can he compete with his charming, titled brother?

Lady Emily, Jack Sterling’s little sister, was suddenly elevated in Society when her father became an Earl. Still trying to navigate the do’s & don’t’s, she appreciates the kindness & thoughtfulness of Lyness Eastwood. She feels calm in his presence & can be herself. But, when his older brother shows her attention, she’s torn between the expectations of Society & her heart.

Lyness completely captured my heart. Beneath his stutter & sense of familial duty lies a kind heart with a talent for calligraphy & poetry. I loved his ability to recognize Emily’s distress & need for a gentle touch. I also enjoyed seeing him put his happiness first. His beautiful letter touched my soul.

Emily’s equally kind & has a love of herbs & animals. I sympathized with her social anxiety & need to please.

I loved Emily’s & Lyness’ romance! Both have a strong sense of duty & familial obligation. Neither one feels comfortable in Society & I enjoyed how they really see each other & notice when the other needs reassurance. I loved seeing their love blossom as they rescue a canary, survive a ball, or experience an all too realistic City of Algiers panorama.

There’s a bit of a mystery & close call at the end that kept me eagerly turning the pages. Now I can’t wait for Roman’s story! Though this is a brand new series, there are fun ties to the Clairvoir Castle series.

Highest of recommendations! I received an advanced copy from the author, but also purchased the ebook in Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.

Before I begin, I would like to thank Sally Britton for allowing me to read a copy of her new book, Mr. Eastwood’s Match, which is part of her new Gentlemen of York series and will be available on Amazon starting December 20th, 2026. I apologize for the delay in finishing and reviewing it (life stuff happened).

Lyness Eastwood is there when his elder brother, Lord Hartwell, starts to investigate a practical courtship with Lady Emily Sterling, and Lyness’s peace breaks. Ever since he met her in London, Emily Sterling has captivated him, but comes to the conclusion that no one would want a young man that has a stutter and zero titles especially compared to a lord. He decides to linger in the sidelines. Emily Sterling is trying her best to help her family establish themselves well in Society. She knows that a courtship with Lord Hartwell would be practical, stable, and accepted by many. Too bad that she feels nothing with him, and genuine sparks and seen whenever she is with Lyness. Emily faces building pressure to accept the match with Hartwell, and Lyness tries to make his feelings known. When a public scandal puts their families under scrutiny, especially Emily, they have to choose between a match made of sensibility versus a flawed but true loving life.

This book was fantastic. You have Emily Sterling, a kind, genuine, clever, and beautiful young woman who is under constant pressure to strengthen her family’s reputation and as a result feels isolated in terms of expressing her truth. You have Lyness Eastwood, a considerate, gentle, clever, and reserved young man who takes on many responsibilities of his brother’s estate and tends to shy away from the spotlight. The interactions between the main characters were funny, kind, and vulnerable. Roman was relatable in terms of activism and duty while Lyness was to put others before himself even when it hurt. I completely understood Emily when she felt so much pressure to succumb to their expectations, even those who love her and might have found their own versions of happily ever after. I cheered for Lyness and Emily to find their voices and the courage to pursue what they wanted and needed throughout the book. Overall, if you like complex characters, discussions on autonomy and activism, and sweet romance with no spice and a touch of forbidden love, then I would highly recommend this book.

First off - I really love the cover of this book. I think it is so pretty! Second, this is such a sweet regency romance.

Lyness is a second son of a Baron and he basically lives his life in the shadows of his brother. He is there to help Roman in any way that is needed.

Emily's father has recently come into the Duke title and their family is still finding their footing as titled gentry in society. Emily's first season in London ended with some unfortunate and unkind gossip. Now in York with her brother and sister-in-law, she is still trying to find her place in society.

Emily and Lyness met in London at a ball and get to renew their acquaintance in York. Both start to have feelings, but struggle to navigate what they want vs what they think is expected of them and what their duty is. However, when Roman states that it is time for him to be serious about courting and gaining a wife, and starts to give attention to Emily, Lyness starts to struggle with the decision to step aside like he typically does to allow Roman what he wants and the desire to follow his heart.

Britton does a great job of tugging at your emotions. All of us, just like Lyness and Emily, want to be chosen for love and be someone's first choice. I loved the flow of the story and how it kept my interest clear to the end.

I am excited for more in this series, and I hope that Roman's story is next. While I loved Emily for Lyness, I really want Roman to find his love match!

Wow…just wow. This book is so full of charm and heart and definitely one of my favorites of the year…dare I say ever?

I've been a Sally Britton fan for a while now, but had to admit, when she announced she was writing the Gentleman of York series,  I wasn't as excited about it as the others (not because I thought it would be bad, but because I am impatient to return to the Inglewood characters I already love.) However, I am pleased to say Sally hit it out of the park with this book. I LOVED it. I loved the York setting. I loved main characters. I loved the family dynamics with the secondary characters. I loved the animal sidekicks. It was SO GOOD.

Lyness and Emily are both quieter personalities, with a strong sense of duty to their roles in their respective families, even if that means putting aside their own happiness. The quiet strength they exhibit as they grow as individuals and together was beautiful and will stick with me. I especially loved Lyness, he was a unique and interesting character and I loved seeing him grow in confidence.

This book is dedicated to the chronic people pleasers...and you see that in the main characters. I have to admit, there were multiple times I wanted to scream "just speak up! tell them!" at the pages, but then was like...would I have spoken up? Would I have put myself aside for the sake of others? Maybe not...and thats not always bad, but it’s not always good either. I think a lot of readers will relate with Lyness and Emily. I know I did.

I am also very interested to see Roman's story! Sally did a great job at somehow making his character a point of conflict while still keeping him likable. He and Lyness’ honest conversation towards the end was probably one of my favorite scenes.

And the love confession at the end! So, so good. I'm a sucker for a good love letter.

The York setting was so interesting! You definitely see Sally's thorough research at hand, but presented without bogging down the story. I enjoyed having a different atmosphere than typical London ballrooms you always see in regency novels.

Bottom line, this was a charming, heartwarming read that regency fans will adore. Very clean, compelling without heavy angst, and will leave you with a happy heart. One of my favorite reads of 2025, and possibly one of my favorites from the author.

Read this book because you won’t regret it!

Beautifully tender and sweet!

When Lyness Eastwood’s titled brother courts the perfect Lady Emily Sterling, Lyness resigns himself to loving her in silence, convinced his stutter and lack of status make him unworthy.

Emily, determined to secure her family’s future with a sensible match, never expects to be drawn to Lyness’s quiet insight and genuine kindness in ways society’s ideal suitor cannot match. As pressure mounts and scandal threatens everything, both must choose between safe convention and following their hearts.

What you'll love:
Regency era
first in a new series
dual pov
strangers to friends to more
hero with a stutter
fish out of water
hint of mystery
duty vs desire
plot twists
sweet, gentle romance!

I fell in love with Lyness as a side character in the Clairvoir Castle series and am beyond excited that he finally get his own story! This story was tender, heartfelt, and all things lovely and I never wanted it to end!

Lyness is a refreshingly vulnerable hero whose strength lies in his kindness and gentleness rather than pride. I adored the tender friendship and slow-burn romance between him and Emily!! Their thoughtfulness, mutual support, and emotional connection made every moment feel earned. Their happily ever after was deeply satisfying, as both found the courage to speak up after loving quietly while also being torn between duty and desire.

Loved seeing some of my favorite characters from the Clairvoir castle series though this book can easily be read and enjoyed as a standalone. The cameos are just a delightful bonus for those who have read the other series. I can't wait for more stories in this series, especially Roman's!

If you love tender Regency romances full of longing, heartfelt friendship, and deeply loveable characters, this one is a must read for you!

What a charming and sweet read this was! It left me feeling a happy satisfied sort of feeling and excited for more to come!

I absolutely adored Lyness Eastwood. A second son in the shadows of his older brother, Roman, whilst he quietly supports his family and Estate, never asking for more. His lifelong struggle with a stutter has shaped him into the quiet but thoughtful man he is. After only one dance in London with Lady Emily Sterling, he is smitten! However, when they meet again in York, his brother Roman has decided the time has come to marry and Lady Emily is his preferred choice.

Lady Emily Sterling is caring, clever and kind, but filled with anxiety and overwhelmed by her sudden rise in Society. As she tries to navigate her new position, she finds a peace with the quiet Lyness Eastwood. As a friendship begins though, it is Lyness’ brother Roman who shows interest in courting her leaving Emily wondering if her responsibility to her family or her heart is more important.

When scandal threatens, Lyness is spurred into action and both he and Emily have to determine if the have the courage they need to follow the path their hearts desire.

“I do not ask that you love me today. I only ask that you allow me the chance to prove, with the rest of my life, that I chose you freely.”

The first book in the ‘Gentlemen of York’ series, a companion of sorts to the Castle Clairvoir series with a lot of character crossover, and it was great to see old friends and new. I have definitely been left wanting more and I am super excited to read more of these Gentlemen, particularly Romans story.

Sally Britton has such a talent for story telling and for making you feel like you are visiting old friends in her books. I highly recommend reading this story, especially if you are a fan of sweet, clean regency romances with wonderfully written and portrayed characters.

“I do not ask that you love me today. I only ask that you allow me the chance to prove, with the rest of my life, that I chose you freely. And that I would choose you again, and again, in any circumstance. My heart is yours, as is my devotion and my love.”

This is a sweet story of strangers-to-friends-to-more with a fun glimpse of Regency York. The MMC completely melted my heart and I was rooting for him from his first appearance. I loved the authenticity of the MC’s friendship development.

Emily is intelligent, witty, and kind. She struggles with society’s expectations because of her title and what she thinks her family needs her to do. I enjoyed her grace and poise despite her doubts. Her growth and realization of her true place was fantastic. I also loved that she saw Lyness for himself and fully accepted his friendship. Lyness is caring, protective, and attentive. He’s need to always shrink into his brother’s shadow and not speak up was heartbreaking. But I loved that when it really mattered and his heart was on the line he was bold and spoke up! I loved how attentive he was to Emily and helping ease her discomfort in many situations, especially when no one else seemed to notice. I loved their journey to their happily ever after.
I am already looking forward to book 2!

A few more quotes:
“A woman like her deserves to know when she is loved.”

“I have wanted to ask for your heart since the m-moment I realized I had already given you mine.”

“Lyness, I choose you too. Not because I must. Not because it is the sensible thing. Because I have not stopped thinking of you since our first dance in London.”

The first book in the Gentlemen of York series is here! I was so excited for this book and it did not disappoint. It is a companion series to the Castle Clairvoir series, which I adored. I loved the hints of Emily and Lyness from the last book and getting to see their story.
Poor Emily! With her family thrust into the nobility, she was feeling the pressure of proper society and their expectations. Emily was trying so hard to fit into the nobility and to do her part for her family. I definitely related to her love for her family and how she wanted to support them. However, she also felt pressure to not burden them and to marry well, as ladies of the Ton did. Emily had some things to learn about herself and how she viewed herself.
I adored Lyness! He was so thoughtful and caring. He was also devoted to his family and his responsibilities to them. Lyness saw himself as his brother’s support and worked diligently to free him for his passion projects. He was so sweet with Emily! They were able to relax and be themselves around each other. I loved how they were able to share their hobbies and connect with one another. They really saw the beauty and strength in each other.
This was such a charming story that is such a pleasure to read. I adored seeing both characters’ families and the way they grew. It also showcased some intrigue and hints to future stories, so I can't wait to see where this series goes! This historical romance features only kissing and some light political intrigue as a side plot.
I received an ARC.

Lyness and Emily had met a year previously in London, so it was a lovely reunion of the two of them with the season in Bath. Both of them are younger siblings and have spent their lives trying to be what their families have needed at the expense of their wishes.
I loved this story and connected with the role in their family. Much of what they felt was expected of them was self-inflicted, and it was gratifying to see when Lyness spoke to his brother and Emily spoke to her parents about their feelings instead of continuing to try and live up to their own ideals of the role they each had in their family.

I loved the way that Lyness took charge of a potentially damaging situation for Emily and protected her. He was clever in having it work towards himself instead of deferring to others. I was particularly pleased that he gave Emily the idea of creating a room for drying her flowers and herbs and advancing her love of medicinal tinctures and salves.

Things to love in the story:
the dedication
canary symbolism
gardening
mystery
courage
clean romance
friends to more

Favorite Quotes:

“A woman like her deserves to know when she is loved.”

“He didn’t want to be useful. He wanted to be chosen.”

“The only thing that I am certain offs that I wish to stand with you. No matter what comes.”

I highly recommend this book to readers both young and mature. This is the first book in the Gentlemen of York series, and I am looking forward to reading more!

Lyness Eastwood is a second son with a stutter. He's talented with calligraphy, which his titled older brother thinks is a waste of time. He doesn't feel useful, even though he acts as steward for the family's country estate. Lady Emily Sterling, new to the title, which her father unexpectedly inherited, is trying to learn how to fit into the new class of society in which she finds herself. She is now in York, staying with her brother and his wife, who hope to help her find a footing in society and maybe a husband. Lyness and Emily briefly met in London. He fell for her there, and now looks for ways to be in her company. Unfortunately, his brother, Lord Hartwell, is thinking of courting her, and Lyness must remain in the shadows. Emily feels nothing for Hartwell. She's drawn to Lyness, with his calm and attentive presence.

A sweet story, although it gets a little repetitive with Emily's worries about proper behavior and Lyness's self-doubt. An excess of his woe-is-me attitude would have made me lose sympathy for the character, but he's just so likable. You want him to succeed. Emily is described as intelligent. Maybe so, but she isn't very perceptive, and she falls apart easily. She isn't unlikable, but her fragile flower act gets tiresome.

There are many, MANY errors. 4 stars

Cover: I love the watercolor background and the green silhouette which, in spite of its simplicity, manages to convey shyness, sensitivity, and sadness.

I have been looking forward to this spinoff for a long time, and it was the absolute sweetest and 100% worth the wait!

Lyness, in the shadow of his titled older brother, and Emily, catapulted into limelight by an elevation in her father's rank, SHINE in this lovely, slow burn romance. I loved the instant connection they had in a previous story that carried over into their meeting in York in this one. They really only have eyes for each other, but are distracted by the desires of others and the expectations of society. We, the readers, know instantly that they are kindred spirits, especially when they team up to save a little canary, and I couldn't help but cheer for them to be together.

I loved how Sally continued in her world building to bring us a story that feels fresh. I also love how relatable Lyness and Emily are in this story. I will always read anything Sally cares to put out there, and this story proves why she stays in my top 3 Regency go-to authors.

Mr Eastwood's Match is a beautiful escape and the perfect cozy read.

I received a copy of this story from the author for consideration. All thoughts contained here are my own.

I always love Sally’s books! They have so much heart and they are gentle in her unique way of writing. I will admit the last little bit of this one brought me to tears. Lyness and Emily are not your typical main characters. They are both content being in the background as a help to others. They are more concerned with ensuring other’s happiness than their own.

“Emily deserved better than fear. Better than rumors. Better than being betrothed for honor’s sake. And if he did not act now, Roman would... But Lyness would not let that happen. Not this time. Not with her.”

It was so wonderful seeing them put their own wants first, choosing to be happy and realizing they were deserving of it.

“Oh, my darling girl. You do not have to be perfect. You only need to be yourself. That is all anyone who loves you ever truly needs.”

This beautiful love story is a spin off of the Clairvoir castle series. Emily is the sister of Jack Sterlingj who married Juniper. That series is definitely not needed to enjoy this one but I would recommend it all the same because it is just so good! I would recommend all of Sally’s books and this one is no exception.

Emily feels as if she’s been tossed to the wolves. Transitioning from a humble gentleman’s daughter to suddenly an earl’s, because of her father’s unexpected inheritance of a title, has been eye-opening to say the least. She must do and act very differently for others will judge her to be suitably adequate or inadequate. After months in London, she was promptly dashed away to York to reside with her brother Jack and his wife, Juniper.
Lyness is the younger brother of, Roman, a Baron. During his time in London, he danced with a lovely young lady and cannot get her out of his mind. Especially now that he has learned she is visiting York. I thought this was a charming story from the awkward, embarrassing moments to gentlemanly compassion and witty banter, I was drawn into the story quickly. The romance is sweet with a touch of mystery. It is de delightful, historical read. I appreciate the attention, the detail and the Regency time period. This is a clean, wholesome romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved the gentleness of this story. It filled me with so much joy.

Lady Emily and Lyness Eastwood had the sweetest connection. Two tender hearted, selfless people who find a kindred spirit in one another. Someone to share their burdens and fears.

Both Lyness and Emily suffer with nerves and anxiety. Where society sees that as an embarrassment, neither Lyness nor Emily see it that way as they always encourage and support the other.

“Was there anything more extraordinary than being seen as one was, without judgment?”

Through all their encounters, they wrestle with the perceived familial obligations, society’s expectations, and their growing feelings, but they slowly find their courage and strength and realize they’ve had their families’ love and support all along and a love in each other beyond their hopes.

Endearing and sweet. Truly a beautifully written story that made me love all the Sterlings and Eastwoods.

Thank you to Sally Britton for the copy. All opinions are my own.

@authorsallybritton has done it again!
The way she creates and develops characters is nothing less than masterful. Lyness and Emily both stole my heart.
The connections to previous books and the side characters we meet in this series starter stole my heart.
Lady Emily is Jack Sterlings sister and | loved her gentle spirit. She was not a wallflower but neither was she a diamond and I loved the way that Emily felt so real and authentic with her hopes and her anxieties and worries about her place in society. She was so kind to her family and I loved that dynamic. Seeing Jack and Juniper happily married made very happy as well.
Lyness Eastwood was an amazing hero. He was quiet and strong, gentle and protective. The dynamic between him and his brother was one of my very favorite things about this book. I loved that Lyness was not your typical gentleman and he was completely fine with that. The battle that he faced emotionally was so well written and moving. I was cheering Lyness on from page one!
Make sure you don't miss this excellent, sweet and romantic new release and series starter!

This is the first book in a new series, Gentlemen of York. The nain characters were introduced in books in the previous, Castle Clairvoir series. It isn't necessary to have read those books first though. (A Gentleman for Lady Juniper does give Emily's background)

The author called this "a gentle love story with Lyness and Emily learning together to listen to their hearts. The rest is just noise." I can certainly understand that after reading the book.

I really liked the characters and really enjoyed the interaction between them. This starts as a very slow burn romance. There are multiple suitors and politics that seem to detract from my romance! But once you get to about 60 percent, the story really picks up.

There are historical aspects of York that the author shares. These are interesting and not often spoken about in Regency/Victorian era romances.

I was given the opportunity to read an advanced digital copy of this book. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Mr. Eastwood’s Match is without a doubt my new favorite by Sally Britton! Lady Emily’s adjusting to a sudden elevation in status now that her father is an earl. Lyness Eastwood is a second son used to being in the shadow of his older brother. The two met at a ball in London and have not been able to stop thinking of one another since. When they reconnect in York they are once again drawn to each other, but they put their feelings aside as they try to do what they think is best for their respective families. Emily and Lyness’ love story is gentle and sweet, and I am looking forward to the other books in this new series!

Things I loved:
🐤 Miss Feathersby
🐤 the letter
🐤 Roman and Lyness’ mother
🐤 characters from the Clairvor Castle series
🐤 sweet moments of seeing one another and learning to trust themselves

Many thanks to the author for an advanced review copy. All opinions are my own.

I didn’t want to put it down
This book had me in the first chapter. Lady Emily’s family entered the peerage recently and she has no idea how to act. She’s trying to play a part, keep out of trouble, not bother anyone, and hopefully marry for love. Lyness Eastwood, brother of Lord Hartwell, first meets Emily at a ball in London and he is immediately drawn to her. When Emily’s family relocates to a home in the same town that Lyness lives in, he hopes to pursue his attraction. But when his brother shows an interest in Emily, he steps back. After all, when a woman can have a Lord, why would she be interested in a second son, who is quiet and stutters. When scandal threatens Emily her family and both brothers rush into help but will their solution help or hurt her? A wonderful read. I received an early copy and this is my honest review.

Like fish out of water, Emily learns to navigate the new high society rules due to the elevation of her father’s status and learns to trust that a true man of great character like Lyness doesn’t care for the mishaps or appearances.

These two, a bit socially awkward and seemingly unpolished, are such a sweet couple that it is a delight to read about their gentle romance.

Another great gem of this novel is the gentle portrayal of speech impediment, presentation of social anxiety, and the strength of overcoming them. It makes the characters absolutely genuine and relatable.

Andy to that a Regency setting, a wonderful plot, engaging style (as always!), and it’s a lovely story to lose yourself in.

I had a privilege to read an advanced copy and absolutely loved it! All opinions expressed are my own.

It was absolutely lovely being with Jack, Juniper, Emily and the Eastwood Brothers. If you enjoy While You Were Sleeping, you will love this book, which is the first in a new series.

If nothing else, you need to read this book for the love letter and calligraphy. It is simply beautiful and so full of heart. Lyness may be the second son, full of duty, but he has more to offer than what meets the eye. I adored him!!

Emily’s family has been thrust into society along with her family. After being overwhelmed in London, she ends up in York, where she happily resumes interactions with the Eastwood Brothers as she tries to find her place as a country girl now is high society.

I can't wait to get Roman's story.

Every Sally Britton book I pick up is so refreshing! I love the pure sweetness of the characters and how relationships unfold. Family, friendships, love. Lyness and Emily’s story is wonderful.

Emily and Lyness already have a nice friendship base going into this story, which attraction on both sides. As they spend more and more time together it becomes clear that there is an underlying affection growing. But, duty and honor and a few unfortunate circumstances occur to blur the lines a bit. I liked how these two find their way together and where their relationship ends up. Everything was so sweet and well executed. I know this will be another favorite series! Looking forward to Roman’s story next!

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
