After unlocking unique magical powers, a young witch must balance familial expectations, personal demons, and new relationships in this stunning second volume of the hit webtoon Muted, featuring exclusive bonus content.
One week into her month-long respite from her controlling Aunt Athalie, Camille receives an unsettling call blindsiding her with news of her arranged marriage. But when she stands up for herself and her freedom, she creates a rift with her beloved cousin Avaline and gains an uncontrollable new ability triggered by overwhelming emotions. Luckily, Camille has Dendro, the plant demon she summoned, to help her come to terms with her past trauma and fully embrace the beauty of her magic. But when Camille suspects that Avaline may be in danger under Aunt Athalie’s influence, she finds herself in a difficult position. With a plan to save Avaline, Camille and the increasingly charming Nyra embark on a mission to face the unpredictable dangers and painful secrets that await in New Orleans.
Muted is a lush, magical coming-of-age story, with joyful streaks of found family and polyamorous sapphic romance.
Complete with an exclusive bonus chapter, this second volume includes episodes 28-50 of the hit Webtoon.
If you love paranormal, witches, polyamorous sapphic love and action-packed graphic novels without sacrificing love and characters, this is the series for you.
I can’t say much of the plot without spoiling book one, so my review will be talking about vibes. I adored getting to know the characters we met in the first book better while witnessing how they tried to survive the day. The plot of the story is thrilling and addicting, but it never feels like there's too much happening at once.
As always, the art was beautiful. Can’t imagine how many hours and practice must take to craft so many scenes, with all the colors and textures as well as the wonderful drawings. It’s mesmerizing to pay attention to all the little details added to each image.
My only critique is that I felt the characters were all too nice (except the bad ones). Maybe I didn’t feel that way in the first volume because I’ve just met them. But, in this book, while each of the main characters were dealing with something different, sometimes their way of thinking and acting started to blend together. Hopefully I will be proven wrong as I progress in the series and I start to see their individuality better.
Although I felt more things happened in book one (this was over so soon 😭😭) I enjoyed continuing the series A LOT. I couldn’t help myself and continued reading after I discovered it’s still available in Webtoon (and also translated to Spanish!).
I kindly received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was one of my favorite comics on Webtoon, and when I saw it was getting printed I just HAD to reread it. And I must say, it’s just as—if not even more—lovely the second time around.
The series follows Camille, orphaned member of a witch family that deals in blood and demonic pacts, as she discovers hidden truths about herself and her magic. For this second volume, we see how she begins to confront her trauma and consider her relationships with the people around her, especially with the plant demon Dendro, the fire witch Nyra, and her cousin Avaline. And I fucking loved it all!
I adore the way Mundt tackles trauma and grief and abuse, unafraid to face extremely difficult topics head-on. It just makes it all the more satisfying to watch Camille heal, even though it hurts. And also!!! Witches!!!!! Lots and lots of fun witchy magic!!!!!
So yes, in summary: read this series ASAP!
[I received an ARC of this book from the publisher on NetGalley. This does not in any way affect the contents of my review.]
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for providing a free e-graphic novel arc in exchange for an honest review.
Miranda Mundt has done it again! I was so excited and grateful to receive the second volume arc of this awesome graphic novel and read it in a day! I couldn't put it down! The characters are fantastic. The plot is ever thickening, leaving us on a bit of a cliffhanger at the end of this one. The illustrations are just absolutely gorgeous in the first volume and even more so in this one! I love how we're seeing Camille come into her own and that she is really trying to break the bonds of her tragic past.
I can't wait for both volumes to actually be released as I will be picking up physical copies of them, I'm fully invested! Definitely grab the first volume, which is releasing July 8th, and this volume is releasing October 14th!
Thank you, NetGalley for this ARC! I can't say exactly what it was, but I did not enjoy this volume nearly as much as the first. Overall, I loved the art style and the dynamic between our characters. But felt like it was lacking in development when it came to our FMC, Camille. She was less likable in this one for me, but I was still interested in where this story was headed.
I’m still really loving this fun and drama-filled witchy graphic novel, but the pacing is a bit slow. I’m hoping the next volume will bring more excitement and answers for us.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley, and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ten Speed Press for providing me with a copy of Muted: Volume 2! As always, all opinions are my own and this review is being left voluntarily.
✨ Adult Fantasy Graphic Novel ✨ 0.5/5 Spice Level ✨ Volume 2 of ??? ✨ Rep: lesbian mc, mental health rep, BIPOC rep
I recommend if you enjoy… - the first volume! - graphic novels - fantasy with some darker/horror elements
Content warnings after review.
Initial Thoughts I absolutely loved the first volume, so I was thrilled to jump into the next volume. Right from the beginning, the art is a clear standout in this series. The color choices are stunning.
Plot The plot in this volume is a little less direct and builds upon various elements seen in the first volume. Just as the first volume ended on a cliffhanger, this one does as well, so be warned if that isn’t your thing when the series isn’t fully released yet.
Characters This series is full of complex, dynamic characters. Even the side characters are fleshed out to a degree that the readers wants to know more. I think this is something the series does really well.
Romance One of my favorite parts of this volume is how Camille’s crushes are slowly growing and developing. It’s been subtle in some ways and thoroughly enjoyable. I’m excited to see how this all pans out (I refuse to spoil myself by reading on Webtoons).
Final Thoughts I cannot wait for the next volume. Easily one of my favorite graphic novel series currently. The art work is beautiful and the story deals with complex topics making it relatable. Highly recommend. (Also Montana was mentioned?!)
(beware potential spoilers below)
Content Warnings (may not be all inclusive) toxic family dynamics, suic*dal ideation, familial duties, swearing, non-human dism*mberment (can regrow)
Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I simply had to immediately pick up this one after finishing the first volume – and I'm still absolutely in love! 4.5 stars.
The art is just as endlessly stunning as in the first volume. I’m not sure I’m ever going to be able to get over it.
I’m really enjoying the way the story is progressing and building without anything feeling like it gets left behind. All of the plotlines are developing at their own pace, building to different culminations. You can feel that all of the stakes are rising, which is exactly what I would hope for. All the characters have interesting arcs, but I'm really interested in where Aveline's story is going. And I'm so excited for even more magic!
I have to keep praising the balancing of themes again too. As the darkness is creeping closer and closer we’re also finding new avenues of hope and joy, giving us small reprieves from the looming dangers.
Can’t wait to read more of this – I’m so excited to see how the story expands even further in the future volumes.
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review.
I absolutely housed the first volume and then I absolutely gobbled this one up too!
The contuning complicated witchy life of Camille, the second volume of Muted sees her embrace the druidic witchcraft she inherited from her father, including summoning an adorable plant demon familiar, deepens her connection to Nyra, and enjoys the freedom of being away from her aunt. However, this causes more difficulty with her aunt and cousin, and she still has a demon stalking her...
Look, I loved the first volume, and this is more and even better with some interesting exploration of magic and worldbuilding, as well as further fleshing out the characters, their connections and clashes.
I had a lot of fun with AHS Coven, but this is a whole lot more my vibe.
Muted Volume 2 by Miranda Mundt was truly a beautiful and heartbreaking read. Camille finds herself struggling between finding herself and sacrificing herself more for those she loves. However, in this volume she seems to be on her way to finding herself more, but she can barely find control over her forbidden powers which poses another hurtle for her to overcome. Setting up boundaries (and not magical ones) is new for Camille, but she is finding her way through it. Dendro, Nyra, and her Aunt Sylvie are helping Camille along the way by providing her a strong foundation of care to stand on, but her Aunt Athalie still tries to weasel her way through to continue to control Camille and her cousin Avaline. I cannot wait to read the next volume for more! I found myself consuming this graphic novel in one day because I couldn’t bear to put it down. The story and the artwork are beautiful and it brings many good messages to the forefront.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me an eARC to review. All thoughts and opinions are honest and my own.
Muted Volume 2 continues the story of Muted volume 1 and continues to be a beautifully illustrated graphic novel/webtoon. The art in this series is truly breathtaking and engaging. I love all the colors and how well color lends itself to the moods of this story.
The story picks up where the first one ends, we follow Camille as she tries to save her cousin, and find more about her past and her magic. As she teams up with others to fight for herself we see more of this story unfold! Overall I enjoyed this chapter and continue to want to see where this story goes! If you love graphic novels with heart I would pick this up!
Thank you to the publisher for providing an advance copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I can't wait for the next parts. I really appreciate the mental health representation and overall how the author demonstrates emotions of characters. I do absolutely adore the drawings and the little background memes in this. The author mixes pretty hard themes with cutesy little moments which adds additional charm to the story!!!!
Thank you so much, NetGalley, Miranda Mundt and Ten Speed Graphic for the opportunity to read this arc
Not quite at the level of Volume 1 but I still really enjoyed this volume!
We get to see more insights into Camille's backstory and the Severin family dynamics. As well as continuing the current story and blossoming relationship with Nyra. Love Dendro as well she's great.
I don’t know why it took this becoming available to read on NetGalley before I knew anything about it. How did it not come across my WebToon years ago? I’ll take sapphic witches with a dark back story any day of the week!!!
Despite this being more adventurous and that there's more plot in this volume, I got through this slower than anticipated. I read the first Volume in a whim. It could've been a change of surroundings or my mood. I still did enjoy this though!
Loved the many confessions, heartbreaking scenes but also the character growth.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced digital copy.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC of the second instalment in this series!!
I really enjoyed this book a lot and felt it was a good follow up to the first volume. We definitely get to know more about Camille and her past in this one, which I loved to read about. I love the very cute flirty-ish relationship between Nyra and Camille. I've heard there's a polyamorous relationship in this series so I can't wait to see who will be added to their relationship, though I have my suspicions about who it may be.
I decided to pick up volume 2 even though volume one wasn’t my absolute favourite, simply because I was pretty curious how the story would develop. Unfortunately I had similar issues with this volume as the previous one.
The writing sometimes felt a little on the nose to me. As if we were being told that these characters care about each other, but I never really felt it. This is obviously a very personal thing so I’m sure that a lot of people may feel very differently about this aspect than I did. There’s just a bit of depth within the story that I find a little lacking.
I will say, the art is still really beautiful and there were several pages that I found very striking and beautiful.
For me, I do think this will be the final volume I read in this series, just because it’s not 100% my thing. I really do hope this finds its audience, so if the plot sounds intriguing to you, be sure to pick it up.
Thank you netgalley for this eARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
Thank you to NetGalley and Ten Speed Press for this eARC! This series is so cute! In volume 2, Camille is learning more about her abilities, and also learning how to gain control over her powers and her emotions. With the help of Dendro, the plant demon she summoned, Camille is starting to learn how to let go of the anger she feels and deal with the trauma of her past. With Dendro’s guidance, she begins to learn how her emotions affect her magic and how to use those emotions to control her abilities. After a week away from her aunt, she begins to relax. But then Avaline calls to let her know that her aunt has arranged a marriage for Camille and is demanding that she return home. Now Camille has to decide what she wants and how far she is willing to go to make sure she gets it. I really enjoyed reading this second volume in this series. If you enjoy reading about unique magic systems, interesting family dynamics, and budding romance, all while looking at some amazing art, then you need to read this series!
These cliff hangers will be my undoing. SOO good!!! It picks up where the first volume let off. It has a nice mix of answering questions while revealing new ones. The story is very fast paced. I really love the characters and the development were seeing with them. Camille goes through a lot in this book and it was sone really well .
The art is so pretty, it still remains one of my favorite art styles I've seen. It compliments the story very well. The darkness and the emotion of the plot translate so well into this art style and color choices.
Volume 3 cannot come soon enough! I am hooked till the end with this series.
Thank you Netgalley and Ten Speed Graphic for the digital copy!
Thank you netgally, Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press and Miranda Mundt for letting me read this arc in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this volume a little less than the first volume but it still was great! It just had a lot of sad vibes. The demon making our girl relive the night of the fire over and over again hurt so bad.
I am really liking the relationship progress between Camille and Nyra, they’re so cute and I love how they keep blushing because of each other. I also looooveee dendro, she’s adorable! Her wonder about the world is so precious and I hope she never changes.
The ending felt illegal, I can’t handle the cliffhanger. It was soooo good tho, I need the next part asap to know what else is going to be happening
Such a treat to return to Camille's witchy world in New Orleans! This book felt like it was doing a lot of work to set up big events in Vol. 3, so it wasn't as satisfying of a read as the first, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what happens in the next book.
I won Muted Volume 2 from Goodreads. The storyline is appealing. However, I think I should go back and read Volume 1 in order to be able to follow along a little better. That would give me a better understanding of the characters. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and very colorful.
I loved this as a Webtoon and still love it. As Camille’s story continues, we learn more about her and her past. So much of it is so sad and I feel so bad for her. Dendro and Nyra were amazing and how they were there for Camille when she needed them. Things got intense and kind of creepy with the demons and even with Camille’s family. Athalie sucks and is abusive and just evil. Avaline also suffered, and I felt so bad for her and about how her mother treated her. I had almost forgotten how things went when Camille ran into Athalie when meeting with Avaline. The story is so good and well written and I adore the art. I am so excited for the next installment and what comes next.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this new graphic novel. Muted: Volume 2 took the foundation laid in Volume 1 and upped the ante to 100. This volume went to some dark places, dealing with abuse and extremely controlling behavior from a parent. But it handled the victims with care. I loved seeing Camille come into her own strength, both as a person and as a witch. Dendro's story continues to be subplot, but the world and character building done for her was effective this volume. I cannot wait to see where this story goes!
4.25⭐️. This was just as good as the first! We got tons more backstory for Camille and Dendro, and the multiple kinds of conflicts amped up. I just want to hug all the characters, they don’t deserve to be treated so horribly. Can’t wait for the next installment! Thanks to the publisher and author for the eARC via Netgalley!
