Discover the transformative power of the church calendar while deepening and enriching your faith in this unique blend of devotional reflections, guided by Claude Atcho, a seasoned pastor.

When we are yearning to walk more closely with Jesus but wavering in commitment and vigor, the liturgical church year can be a gracious guide into a robust and vibrant faith. In Rhythms of Faith, Anglican priest and pastor Claude Atcho invites us on an immersive journey through the life of Jesus as expressed in the church calendar. This structure grounds, deepens, and intensifies our experience of living with, in, and for Christ.

Rhythms of Faith fuses together the formative power of the church calendar and both personable and instructive reflections to help us become more deeply rooted in the life of Christ. Along with helpful introductions to each liturgical season—of Advent, Christmastide, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter, and Ordinary Time—this book offers weekly chapters with scriptures, rich devotionals, and reflection questions to guide us through the calendar.

Rhythms of Faith is the perfect companion for Christians who already take part of the history of liturgical practices or are intrigued but unsure where to start. As we journey through, our days, weeks, months, and years will become deeply rooted in Christ.

If you want to understand church time through the use of church seasons and feasts, this is a book I would highly recommend. I have always been drawn to this type of living and learning. Our family has always participated in the seasons of Lent, Easter, Advent, and Christmas. I find those time it helps me to stay more devoted and in tune with God. Why not make it year around time!? Rhythms of Faith by Claude Atcho shares what he has learned and why we too may find this type of living helpful in our worship and honoring of God.

While I have read similar books like this, he offers a deeper understanding and great suggestions on how to practice living the church year.

Some of my highlights:

God uses time to draw us deeper into life with Him.

As we keep sacred time – spending our days, personally and corporately, rooted in the cycle of His life – the church year guides us…

The church year is a call to live out he higher time of the kingdom in our so-called ordinary lives.

At a certain point, all of us must ask who time we wish to live by – Caesar’s or Christ’s.

This book starts with Advent and then goes through the year, through the different church seasons and festivals. Explaining each one, offering up Scripture to read, and suggestions to practice.

One thing to note, for me this book would be much better to have a hard copy of, so you can flag and make the book easier to use, verses using it on a kindle.

Many thanks to Netgalley for providing this book for review! Opinions are 100% my own! I did receive the product in exchange for this review and post.

Rhythms of Faith by Claude Atcho is a peaceful, grounding journey through the church year. With clarity and warmth, Atcho introduces each liturgical season—Advent through Ordinary Time—as an opportunity for deeper spiritual formation. Whether you’re new to the church calendar or seeking to live it more intentionally, this book invites you to slow down and let the rhythms of Christ’s life shape your own. I’ve found great peace in this sacred pacing, and I highly recommend it for anyone longing for a more rooted, reflective faith.

"If you find yourself yearning to walk more closely with Jesus but wavering in commitment and vigor, the church year can be a gracious guide into a vibrant spirituality"

This is my new favorite devotional. In a time when our faith can feel untethered and lost in all the noise, focusing on the gentle rhythm of the church calendar can be rejuvenating. There's a rootededness that many of us yearn for, a connection to Christians that have gone before us and lived out the same rhythm of their faith, that can bring our souls closer to God. The devotionals in this book are encouraging, insightful, and highly relevant to our current culture.
