Rate this book
The night shifts at HMP Kirkwood are normally quiet.

But not tonight.

Because prisoners are not the only killers around; monsters are on both sides of the bars. Lurking in the shadows are creatures far more fearsome, far more powerful. Ancient creatures with teeth sharper than a butcher's cleaver. Ravenous, these creatures are planning to make HMP Kirkwood their new territory.

The graveyard shift has never been so true before...

Sean P. Gibson’s Prehistoric Nightmare: The Graveyard Shift is a thrilling and suspenseful ride for horror fans who crave both claustrophobic tension and prehistoric terror. Set in the eerie confines of HMP Kirkwood, Gibson expertly blends the familiar dread of a prison break with the chilling unpredictability of ancient, monstrous predators. Officer Bruce Cooper’s fight for survival is gripping, keeping readers on the edge of their seats as each shadowed corridor and barred cell becomes a potential deathtrap.

Gibson’s writing is vivid and cinematic, capturing both the terror of human conflict and the primal fear inspired by creatures long thought extinct. Fans of survival horror and action-packed creature features will find this novella a satisfying, pulse-pounding adventure that doesn’t let up until the very last page.

*Trigger Warning: Cat death

Dinosaurs invade a prison in Scotland? Uh, yes please! I never knew I needed this in my life, but I totally do!! 😀 I absolutely loved Prehistoric Nightmare. So fun!

The plot is captivating! There is a ton of fun dinosaur carnage. Blood and body parts are EVERYWHERE! Sooooo much gore! 😀 Trigger warning for cat lovers. 2 jail cats do not make it. Poor cats!! This was the only part of the story that I didn’t like. D:

The main characters are easy to cheer for. They are nice and realistic people. I loved how normal they were. Very easy to connect to them. I wanted them to make it out alive!

Prehistoric Nightmare is such a fun dinosaur story. Excellent blood and gore carnage. Everything I could ask for in a dino horror story! Witty and clever with realistic characters and awesome dinosaurs. Really enjoyed this authors writing style. 🙂 Can’t wait to read something else from this author.

I like dinosaurs a whole lot. But I'm on the fence with this book. There's no shortage of blood, gore, and carnage, going on, and it's all descriptive enough to see it; but it's that same style of description that has me on the fence. I know this is a novella, but it's rushed lot which causes a bit of confusion since there's so much happening at once it's almost hard to follow. Still, it's dinosaurs, so I still intend to read the second book when it releases in November. Hopefully by the second book, Mr. Gibson has figured out how to sort and map out his plot a bit so it doesn't seem as rushed.
I give this book 3 of 5 Paws.

this was a fantastic start to the Terrorsaurus Tales series, it had that dinosaur element that I was looking for from the description. It had a strong storyline and was everything that I wanted in this type of book. It does a great job in creating a opening and enjoyed the characters of this world. Sean P. Gibson has a strong writing style and was engaged with the characters being told. It left me wanting to read more in this series and from Sean P. Gibson.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a really fun book. This one combined two of my favourite things. Fast paced with a touch of tongue in cheek. It was an interesting choice to set it in a prison, and yet it seemed to work. This is a good choice if you want a break from the heavier, more serious horror out there. It's kind of like Jurassic Park on helium.

I wish this book lasted longer! It was so thrilling and gory I just wanted more! I do wish there was more in the book about the prison and what a typical day was like. It just felt a little too abrupt. It would have been cool also to have some background info on the “mad scientist” to start the book off. Overall a solid read.

Bruce went to work like any other day but today will be very different. There was a secret that will reveal itself and stun Bruce and his coworkers. This book is full of chills, thrills and lots of blood spills. It was fast paced and full of excitement. I really enjoyed it and looking forward to reading book 2. I highly recommend it.

This was a really fun and easy read. Imo you'll have a better experience if you turn your brain off, its not as deep as jurassic park with the science, but i really like every media that shows dinosaurs as the absolute horror creatures they are

A ordinary night at work as a guard at a prison turns into something deadly. Something very hungry is loose in the prison. Will anyone survive? Fast paced bloody great read.

Nice simple short read, straight into the story. No overlong build up.
Interesting story that has a full arc even with the short length of the book.
Will I get the second in the series, unsure

Great page turner as I read through it all in one sitting!
The unique plot and setting had me intrigued from the beginning to end. There's a tonne of action, with some humour throughout, and plenty of gore.
It may be a horror but it doesn't take itself too seriously, and with it being a short story, I didn't stop until I'd finished. Definitely looking forward to the next in the series!

Prehistoric Nightmare: The Graveyard Shift by Sean P. Gibson.

As with the second one, this avoids the easy route of DINOS! DINOS! DINOS! & tells a human story amongst the chaos.

There's gore, yes & a bit of the old ultra-violence, but the real horror is in the reveal & that's one that'll sit with you for far too long.

Solidly recommended.

Prehistoric Nightmare - a story about dinosaurs that attack a prison. Sounds like the perfect recipe for carnage, and to an extent, it is. It's fast-paced entertainment that I wish had taken that extra step and really ramped things up.
There were a few times when the writing almost felt as if it was written for a very young audience, and I don't mean teenagers, but pre-school. Moments along the lines of: The dinosaur stomped closer. Closer. Closer. RRROOOOAAAARRRR.
Sure, that's kind of fun, but I'd rather it felt like a moment of tension, something that reflected the fear the characters were experiencing. Still, it was a quick read and it was fun for what it was.

This was a fun little read. I love the idea of dinosaurs loose in a high-security prison. I mean, need I say more to get you interested?

There's a lot of gore, as to be expected with this type of read. But it did all feel a bit rushed, and there were a lot of throwaway characters I felt could use a bit more development to make you care a little more about their deaths. And then there were other characters you're barely introduced to, that you think might move the story along, only to be put in as cannon fodder.

All in all, a fun read that's mostly memorable because of the premise.
