Another 10 minutes of Firefly. This one leaves some stuff out, but the editing works. The right amount of on screen violence. The right amount of words at the end. Thrilling maybe a little exhilarating. Plot feels a little flawed like it wouldn't stand up to close examination. So not going to examine it closely.

Typical Mal plan with execution issues

Mal, Jayne, and River go to make a daring rescue at the facility she was held. What none of them know is that they have been played. But our Mal never leaves anything to chance and is prepared.

Issue five is just as good as issue four in the sense that it keeps the plot moving constantly and keeps in interested. It picks up right where issue four left off, which is something I always love when it comes to comic book series/ issues.

Leaves on the Wind continues to be a mediocre series however, making me give it four stars instead of five. I have fans who, like myself, are Firefly fanatics and loved this series but throughout the entire thing I keep thinking to myself, this was not necessary.

Yes, it's wonderful to be in the universe again with all my favorite characters, but as this series comes to a close (this being the second to last issue) I keep thinking to myself what's the point?

I wanted something big, something wonderful (especially since it's Zack Whedon writing it) but all I've received so far is a bunch of eh writing and a story that I'm not sure really needed to be told.

I enjoy this series, and I mostly support the choices they've made in progressing everyone's individual narratives. That being said, this arc feels rushed and the scale is a little forced. I'm also growing weary of Firefly/Serenity being about "us". We know we love Firefly; the last ten years of our fandom have been about how our love for Firefly is unstoppable.

Firefly wasn't about us. Firefly was bursting with stories, where even logos on the wall in the background had meanings and histories and implications without the series ever having time to even tell us. But now, the lens is pointed outward, and I'm tired of looking at myself. I'm tired of Browncoat reverence. Things are getting black and white in a world that relished the gray.

This is still a great book, with great ideas, but I know my coat is brown. Show me why it maybe shouldn't be.

These are way too short for $3.50, should have held out for the graphic novel version, but I'm in it now. Still loving the story.
