Rue was always put down by her family and was made to do things that she didn’t want, she loved to figure skating. One night she was told that she had to go to a human//werewolf gala so she thinks that she will be allowed to join the human side of the organization. She was in a study group in a class and Lucien was supposed to be there she thought he was stuck up and that he thought he was better than anyone else. Lucien was looking into the missing people, but he was told by his father he had to go to the gala. Rue’s best friend Chad took her to the gala but he was part of Lucien’s pack and Lucien didn’t like them dancing but before he left his and Rue’s engagement was announced a surprise to both of them. She told him that it would be in name only was told that she had to spend time with Lucien then she learned that Lucien wasn’t the way he acted. Her aunt wanted her to spy on the pack to learn their weaknesses but she didn’t. Her brother Noah also wanted to get rid of them, Rue was attacked when she went to a clearing to paint. Lucien saved her told her to not go out alone but her, Cassie, and Chad were attacked and Chad got shot. The prisoner they had slit his throat before they could ask questions, and Chad was kidnapped from the hospital. Lucien found a gun with her father’s brand on it so he went and questioned Rue when she couldn’t answer his questions he didn’t believe her, he figured she was involved. She figured out that it was her mother, aunt and brother and then figured out where the experiments were happening so she took her guns. Got Chad and others out of their cages told Chad to get them out of there but got caught, her mother injected her with werewolf serum. Her mother was shot then Lucien got her out burned the place down with all of the serum and took care of his father because of how he was involved. Lucien apologized then helped her with her wolf.

I really enjoyed this book. It gave everything that is needed in a paranormal werewolf/ fated mates saga. Lucian and Rue went to college together and then their parents arranged a marriage between them. They did not want it. Seeing no way out they started to fall for each other. There was a lot of danger with the werewolves being kidnapped and then Rue ended up being in mortal danger. I highly recommend this book to all paranormal romance readers.
