Welcome to Hell #4

Hell's Kitty

Rate this book
Good thing this Hellcat has nine lives because he's going to need them if he's going to survive Lucifer's latest scheme and land on his four furry feet. Okay, so Felipe ate a few of the Styx sea creatures. In his defense, they were awfully tasty. Depleting the monster reservoir didn't mean Lucifer had to go all lord of hell on him and order him to go on a stupid mission. And to Siren Isle, of all places! Everyone knows males should stay far, far away from that dangerous place. The only stroke of luck is that the woman he's after isn't a siren. Nor is she quite a mermaid. As a matter of fact, Jenny isn't like anyone he's ever met—so, of course, this curious cat wants her. Except he's not the only one. Not long after his arrival, he runs into problems, which he's only too happy to solve in a permanent and violent fashion. Getting Jenny off the island and back to hell's inner circle is proving more troublesome than expected, though. Who knew a simple retrieval mission would signal the start of a dangerous—yet exhilarating—adventure? And despite his tomcat ways, this purring feline can't help but fall in love.

Review originally posted at RabidReads.com.

Eve Langlais never ceases to amaze me with the characters that she creates. The hero in this book is a Hellcat, which was no surprise from the title. The heroine, though, that caught me by surprise. The prologue starts off with Jenny waking up as a child washed up on the Siren Isle. She has green curly hair and scales on her legs. The Sirens don’t really know exactly what she is or what to do with her. But, since they haven’t had children of their own in a long, long time, they adopt her. However, she doesn’t quite have the pipes Sirens are known for. In fact, quite the opposite. People will run off a cliff when she talks and kill themselves when she sings. Even some immortals aren’t immune.

Felipe is a Hellcat. We actually met him in A Demon and His Witch, as he was taken in by Ysabel as a stray. He was also her familiar. He has a knack of eating sea creatures out of the river Styx. So, Lucifer sends him on a mission to recruit Jenny to come help Lucifer. Jenny hasn’t left Siren Isle since she arrived, but Lucifer now wants her in the innermost circle of Hell. And he wants Felipe to bring her.

Yep, Lucifer is at it again. That demon has quite the knack for matchmaking. It has given him quite the ego too, as if he needed the boost. We get to watch how Lucifer has once again done a great job pairing up two unlikely people to make a great couple, even if it takes a while for them to figure it out. Felipe, as a tomcat, has no use for settling down, though the thought of not being with Jenny now that he’s met her drives him crazy. How could a tomcat like him ever settle down.

This is another fun story as Jenny and Felipe trek through Hell. They have some adventures. They have some fun times. There are some very good emotional times. And lastly, this couldn’t be an Eve Langlais book without laugh out loud moments. In this book, we get the most time with Lucifer’s lady love, Gaia. We also see who will be the features of the next book. Charon’s son, Adexios, who has been causing issues left and right. Plus an Amazon who helped Jenny and Felipe trek through Hell. That has funny written all over it.

I had to use this quote, even though it doesn’t feature our hero or heroine, it does feature Lucifer and his daughter Muriel.
“So once again, I’m here to save your hairy ass.”
“I’ll have you know I had it waxed earlier this week.”
Muriel wasn’t the only one to groan at this revelation. “Too much info. Anyhow— Hold on a second, is that a ducky with horns on your slicker?”
Thrusting his shoulders back, Lucifer grinned as showed off. “Yes, do you like it?”
“Only you could hope to carry if off,” was her reply.

This one was a bit of a longer addition to the series which I really enjoyed. Ahh Felipe, what a delicious shape shifter. I really enjoy this authors sense of humour, she has such a creative take on Hell, that you just have to laugh out loud!
Satan as a match maker is up to his tricks again, Lord of the Underworld can steal the spotlight occasionally but I guess you couldn't expect anything less, and I must admit i'll never look at a raincoat the same way ever again lol!
Jenny is a good character and match for Felipe I think, her voice is certainly a game changer. There was adventure, sirens, sex, love, and of course Jenny has her own mystery. I did feel a little let down when no big catastrophe happened after her song? Maybe I missed something?
Looking forward to the next in the series.

Ok this series is just plain absurd, silly fun. This may be my favorite depiction of Lucifer ever, I love his relationship with Gaia. He's just so over the top and well Lucifer as a matchmaker is plain giggle worthy. So yet again Lucifer is setting up his minions to fall and love and deliver him babies to fill out his army.

So Felipe and Jenny...well yes please fun. Poor Jenny and her deadly voice. I'm sure pure obstinance is what keeps Felipe's ears safe. ;) I loved his ego and his pure cat like self importance. This book obviously builds up to the next piece of the arc and there's more going on here than gets revealed. I can't wait to find out more.

I adore most of Langlais work but this series must just not be foe me. It was ok but nothing memorable. I liked the characters for the most part but found the plot lacking.

I prefer the cartoon covers. 3.5 stars. I liked the characters and Jenny’s power. A lot of sex and a road trip. Was a little surprised there wasn’t a Remy or Ysabel appearance.

PLEASE NOTE: This book will not be officially released until June 17, 2014.

‘Hell’s Kitty’ is the fourth book in the Welcome to Hell series by the awesome Eve Langlais (or EveL, as her followers know her!) I received a copy in return for an honest review.
I first read about Felipe, the hero, in ‘A Demon and His Witch’ the first book of this series and I was instantly intrigued. Of course, I never thought he would have his very own story, but I’m so glad he did!
Felipe is a rare Hellcat. His main mission in life (aside from trying to stay on the Lord of Hell’s good side) seems to be bedding as many of Hell’s female inhabitants as he can.
Jenny doesn't know what she is – part mermaid and part something unknown – and has spent most of her life on Siren Isle, with her adoptive ‘aunts’ trying to teach her to ‘properly’ sing.
Lucifer has his own agenda (as always). When he sends Felipe to escort Jenny to the inner ring of Hell, the real fun begins.
I love Ms. Langlais’ writing style, and her overflowing use of sarcastic wit is an ingenious strategy in allowing the heroine to outwit the hero. It keeps me rolling with laughter while I plunge deeper and deeper into the grip of her plots.
I recommend this book, this series and this author to everyone who has any kind of appreciation for humor-ridden sci-fi/paranormal romance books that always contain lots of steam!

Hell’s Kitty is book four in the Welcome to Hell series. These books are standalones, but I recommend reading them in order. We first met Felipe in the first book, since he was the pet cat of our heroine, Ysabel. Now he is doing missions for Lucifer and is tasked with bringing back Jenny from an island controlled by Sirens.

Jenny has a voice which brings death and destruction to any who hear it. Her aunts entice men with their songs to stay with them forever. Jenny makes their ears bleed and they jump off cliffs just to get away from her. But when Felipe hears her voice, sees her wild green hair, scaly legs and innocence, he sees only beauty.

This story was sweet, funny and action packed. We are introduced to many new fractions of Hell and it is a must read for fans of this series.

This is the fourth book in Eve's Welcome to Hell series, and I feel like to really get why readers are so excited about all these characters getting matched you need to read the first three, but these can be read as stand-alones. This time it's about Felipe (a Hellcat), who is basically a player and tries to bed all of Hell's female population. Felipe's job (courtesy of the Lord of Hell, Lucifer) is to escort Jenny, a half mermaid half … something, to the inner ring of Hell. Jenny is hilarious, and I loved reading about her and her aunts. Eve is always a great author to turn to when you want a lot of steam and laughter. She writes sexy heroes and a lot of wit and humor. My favorite character is still Lucifer: He's devious, devilish and basically brilliant. If you haven't read it already, the first book is called A Demon and His Witch. My favorite, though, is the second, A Demon and His Psycho. Eve also writes very, very hot alien books.

Head over to the HEA blog to see what Eve has to say about her hero, heroine and HK!

I enjoyed this creative, humorous and steamy paranormal fantasy romance. It had my attention from beginning to end with lots of fast paced exciting action. With a setting in Hell, it was definitely outside the typical romance. As punishment, Lucifer orders playboy wildcat shifter Felipe to go to Siren's Isle and bring Jenny to Hell.

As always I walk away a VERY happy camper from one of Eve's stories. I always have a good laugh or twenty with one of her stories and I love it. You know the feeling I'm sure?
The one when you're sitting (or standing) there all serious, reading and into the story and suddenly, BAM! A funny! That's exactly what happens to me with this authors work. Hell's Kitty is a great read of any fans of the genre looking for a hot, fun, exciting and funny read. Oh and best part is, you can read it without reading the rest of the series as a whole. I know this for a fact because I've not read all from this series, yet. Only this one and the first. Good times... Good times...

3.5 to 4 stars.

It probably has the potential for a straight four star but to be honest my mind has been all over the place and I know I wasn't invested in this read.

There are brilliant moments of humor and the faceless enemy of Lucifer is gaining ground, so that in itself begs for a re-reread.

It was another quick read with some bursts of humor. My favorite was Lucifer wearing a bright yellow raincoat with a ducky hood and horns. It's just a splash of humor.

You didn't have to read the prior books to follow this but it does help, especially as the world of Hell is really glossed over in this one. Felipe is first introduced in A Demon and His Witch so it was nice to see his story here but you don't miss anything by not reading it first.

It feels like the sex and insta-love just keeps happening faster and faster the more I progress in this series - that's not a good thing. In this one, she's literally known Felipe 10 minutes and he grabs her on his lap and kisses her - ok, a bit fast. And then has his hand up her dress -- wait, what? It was like this in the prior book as well - way too fast.

Now I can see why she might fall in love with him - he's handsome, he's nice to her, good sex and he's mostly immune to her voice. And he's the second guy she's ever been with so I can see her getting attached too quickly. But him? Why? She beautiful to him, she's nice, good sex. But that's not really love. There as no real depth to these characters or their relationship as there was no real depth to the world building - there's a Siren Isle - we don't know much except there's 4 and they're a dying breed and brief descriptions of their caves. The Amazons they meet we know even less about.

There's a big reveal as to who Jenny's father is. He introduces himself, has a drink with Lucifer and we never see him again. What? There's no explanation at all - obviously he's known who his daughter was but never once bothered to visit her. He's possibly the one who rescued her as a child (makes sense) but we're not even told that. And she literally spends no time with him. Just drop a bombshell and then exit.

It seems like the emphasis is more on sex scenes than character or plot development the more I read this series; however, it's still a very readable story and I found it entertaining and the world she has created is very intriguing. I just wish the author spent more time on that. I am curious to see how Lucifer's wedding plays out so I likely will read the next two but depending on how they go, I may be done after that.

Felipe was purrfect!!

Delightfully sinful read, Felipe was one hot furry stud with a heck of a wild passionate side to him. He was an utter ladies man playing the field vigorously, a total bachelor or as he called it being a tomcat. He loved the ladies and the ladies sure did love him but some good lovin is all they'd get from him as this hellcat wasn't gonna be collard by any woman or so he thought lol. With black hair with hints of red, tall, muscular defined body, sexy smile, yellow eyes and an exuberant personality to charm the pantys of any lady he was most definitely a dangerous predator. No woman was safe from his charms and poor Jenny was no exception, she was a goner from the first moment she saw him. Their passion was SCORCHING HOT! Their attraction and lust for each other was undeniable, intense and red hot, they just couldn't keep their hands off each other even if one certain kitty sure tried his hardest to deny it lol. Felipe was just adorable with his witty personality and wickedly dirty mind he was a damn fine sweet piece of man candy utterly delicious and addictive making you crave more. Jenny was such a sweet and kind girl who didn't see her worth, thinking herself less because of her differences when in reality they made her shine above all others, made her unique in a rare beautiful way captivating the eye of the kitty she least expected and wanted more than anything. A charming tale of acceptance, courage, trust and love with non stop action along the way and many a witty moment this was another hit for the welcome to hell series and a hell of an awesome read.

This can be read as a standalone but you will be craving to read the others in this series.
This book is longer than the others but it is needed to bring this story out in all its goodness.
Felipe is a shapeshifter, a Hellcat who is also a tomcat whom we met in book 1. He is sent by Lucifer (who is matchmaking again) to recruit Jenny to work for him.
Jenny turns out to have a few surprises in her history when all is said and done.
Jenny was found washed up on Siren Isle as a child. The Sirens did not know what she was but took her in anyway and raised her. The only problem is her voice can kill so she cannot lure men to her.
Luckily Felipe is tonally deaf and Jenny’s voice does not bother him.
Felipe is intrigued by her but as a tomcat he has no intention of settling down, ever, even if the thought of not being with Jenny now that he’s met her drives him and his cat crazy.
Someone wants Jenny dead but we don’t find out who till near the end giving us a great ride along the way full of humour, innuendo and Lucifer interfering as usual.
Something dark is on the horizon and the seers are prophesizing doom and upheaval. Cannot wait to see what happens next.
We have a great cast in this book with Gaia, Muriel and others making appearances. Loved the bit at sea with Lucifer and his rubber ducky.

When we met Felipe in the first book, I was convinced he was going to get his own book, since he declared that he was never going to get tied down (that is a clear sign that the guy is going to hitched with someone, because god forbid that we have a hunk in the wild). Luckily, I really enjoyed the girl he ended up with - and not going to lie, I enjoyed that he ended up with a fish.

They were a charming couple, plenty of real development and lots of good sex, and the setting was a lot of fun, from the sirens, to the amazons, etcetc. They grow together, there isn't a pornographic amount of killing, and they have a lot of good chemistry. My issue with this is that the ending with the dire portents about Jenny was unsatisfying, and no interactions with her and her dad. Otherwise, it's a fun, sexy read.

Felipe the hellcat was fun, a very confused kitty. He had moments of sweetness, followed by arrogance and childishness. He fought his attraction to Jenny every step of the way - worried about settling down and losing his tomcatting days. Jenny, I liked, she was very naive at the beginning, isolated and self-contained. I also liked how Felipe took the time to help her understand her worth. However, as the story progressed, she came into her own and learned her self-worth. Lucifer is hilarious, some of his antics had me giggling. Obviously, lots more heat and cheesy one liners, but that's part of the appeal of the series. They aren't meant to be taken seriously, just fun, easy reads with a few twists and turns. All in all, another enjoyable read.

This is the first book in the series where I like the lead female character.
The lead male character, Felipe, was an actual tomcat with commitment phobia. (His reaction to the closeness was quite predictable and not at all enjoyable. The "I don't want to be monogamous but I want you. Also, I don't want you hooking up with other guys.") Apart from that, Felipe was fun.
I did enjoy the Sirens and Amazon warriors.

The worldbuilding is very loose, you don't have enough information to picture it. So, as the story plays in your mind, the background is pretty blurry and flimsy. But I have to give it to the author, despite the crassness and vulgarity, some of the characters are quite well defined.

.... i liked it at first... then they had sex... to me it was to soon... -_- what pissed me off was FECKING Felipe!! "But it was for the best, right? Felipe wasn’t ready to settle down no matter how much he liked Jenny or how she made him feel." OH. M Y. FUCKING. GOD. ARE YOU KIDDING ME I'M TIRED OF THE MALES THAT GO "i'm not good enough for her..." or "It's not you its me..." OR "I like my freedom i cant settle down..." ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?!?!!? that just pissed me off i had to force myself to read the rest... -_- i liked it... after the annoying "this is for the best." bullshit it was a decent read... losses 2 stars from me though...

I just loved Felipe and Jenny so much! They played off and complimented each other perfectly, with just the right touches of innocence, aghastness, and wonderfully sexy. I especially liked how well our tomcat reacted to his feelings, just perfect, and so feline. Jenny was a treat, and entirely too trusting, but her feline fellow kept her safe, and made sure to show her how wrong she had been in her self-esteem issues. A great romp through new places and with new characters to keep us entertained!

Eve never fails to bring the perfect balance of comedy with the drama and steamy scenes. Felipe is a perfect sexual predator and loves his ways but when he meets Jenny she throws his world off balance. Jenny is a heroine all can relate to as you watch her go from shy and not sure of herself to bold and confident. A wonderful read in the Welcome to Hell series. Looking forward to continuing onward, cant wait to see what Lucifer is up to next.

Things are heating up in hell as Felipe and Jenny are paired together in another of Lucifer’s matchmaking games. Who knew Lucifer could be so devious?

A perfect couple. These two are so sweet together and the romance hot. Yet another great addition to the series.

Felipe and Jenny's wild sea adventure

Oh my word. So much love for this boy meets girl story. Felipe is a tomato who found the one woman anywhere to tie him down. Jenny is so perfect, she has that sweet sweet but independent spirit with just a dash of want confidence, that many find attractive. The plot is fantastic. The series is getting SO GOOD.
