On arrival Rachel raises the alarm to say Alice is missing but the police won't take her seriously and so she retraces Alice's steps to find more questions about a friend she thought she knew well.
Suspicious of the man Alice stood up, Rachel investigates her friends disappearance with intriguing results.
I know as a reviewer I often say a book is gripping, but this one seriously hooked me as I was desperate to find out what happened to Alice. The intrigue and suspense was well written into this thriller and I found it impossible to put it down.
The twist left me haunted and bewildered and was definitely not what I saw coming. Mary Torjussen is a new psychological thriller author who knows how to keep readers on the edge of their seat.
WOW, Just WOW. I spoke to the author online who sent me a link to the kindle book. Downloaded the book, finished my other book then started on this... Within minutes, I knew it was a book which couldn't be put down. The author had captured my attention with a good first person narrative and I needed to know what happened next. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any more from the author.
I started reading this this morning and put it down 5 hours later. It's a fantastic psychological thriller that's got everything you want. The characters are well drawn and believable and as for the plot - there are more twists and turns than a corkscrew! One of the best books I've read in awhile. Highly recommended.
Intriguing premise about an Australian and a British woman who meet online after the deaths of their husbands. When Alice, the British woman, goes missing after setting off on a blind date, Rachel, the Australian, is determined to track her down.
It's fast paced and with plenty of drama to keep you turning the pages, especially as it reaches the dramatic finale. On the other hand, I thought that the author didn't quite pull off the final and most unexpected twist in the tail in this novel. Shame, as I'd been carried along with the revelations so far.
Having said that, I think this is the author's first novel, and I anticipate good things to come.
Definitely recommended for fans of Sophie Hannah's thrillers!
Wow! I've just finished My Time Your Time and it was impossible to put down. It was easy to get hooked- there wasn't lots of long dull scene setting. The author had me at page one.
Not to give too long a summary: Rachel lives in Australia and has become close online friends with Alice. They have a mutual online friend in mysterious Mort too. Alice leaves for a date with Dan, and Rachel doesn't hear from her again so comes to the UK to find out what happened to her.
OK so that's the premise. What made this book so gripping is that you just don't know who to trust. The fact that the characters have never met each other in the flesh until the story begins adds an interesting angle: Dan has never met Alice. Rachel and Alice have never met Mort and amazingly, Rachel and Alice have never met each other. This is a very contemporary theme and throws up some very interesting questions on the authenticity of cyber relationships. They all confidently think they know each other very well. Rachel is often heard saying "Alice would never do that." But everyone is full of surprises.
Some reviewers have criticized the ending and the several BIG twists, and I will agree that the author has been audacious. However, I think she pulled it off and I think the ending fitted. I also love that I did not see that coming. At. All.
This is everything I want from a psychological thriller. I look forward to more from this author.
