Quantum Reckoning follows tech magnate Ian Phillips as his family becomes entangled with an alien alliance from the planet Oogulu, while a Toronto gang war and a child's abduction unfold alongside it. Across nine sprawling chapters, biologically altered siblings, corporate security operatives, and a general with divided loyalties are pulled into a crisis stretching from suburban Ontario to another star system.

Paul Walker’s series continues on an ambitious streak, weaving Afrofuturist philosophy, speculative tech, and street-level crime drama into a single tapestry. The Oogulu sequences are legitimately strange, enough so to convince the reader they’re on an alien world with different rules. But the prose leans on adjective-stacked description, and the sheer number of subplots can at times be disorienting. We move from boardrooms, to vengeance, to alien biology, and to family secrets, with scenes over-explaining themselves. This is a maximalist, idea-dense genre mashup, one that will be more rewarding for fans of big-idea sci-fi than for those expecting a tight throughline.
